Hellsing

Introduction

Hellsing, an organization specializing in dealing with supernatural threats, is called in to eliminate a vampire that is turning the villagers of Cheddar into ghouls. To put an end to this, the leader of the organization, Sir Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing, dispatches her most formidable asset: a powerful vampire known as Alucard. Armed with only a single handgun, Alucard wreaks havoc on the monsters plaguing Cheddar. However, a young police officer, Seras Victoria, gets caught up in the chaos and becomes mortally wounded as a result. Taking pity on the girl, Alucard gives her a choice: die as a human or live on as a vampire. Seras accepts his offer and begins a new life as a member of Hellsing. Though it was her decision, Seras struggles with the fact that she is no longer human. Nevertheless, she must embrace being a creature of the night soon if she wants to survive on the front lines in the fight between humans and the supernatural. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

I watched the OVA version first. I don't think it could have been my all-time favorite anymore because I started watching Yu Yu Hakusho. It's amazing. The first episode made me cry. Anyways This shit is garbage I'm seeing this bitch integra again. I hate this bitch! There have been zero qualities of hers that make me ever like this character at all. I felt so much hatred towards that I almost started to hate women. Luckily, I watched JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean after watching this, so I'm back to being the best feminist. #feminist I dislike the art style of this show. The only reason i somewhat liked the OVA was because of the art style and the aura moments. yes i do like solo leveling and think it deserved anime of the year and im located in Tel Aviv 2 out 10 Integra was the…

The most gothic, dark, and absurdly stylish anime I've ever watched. Hellsing is practically the perfect definition of what an "edgy" teenager from the 2000s dreamed of watching. Vampires, giant weapons, secret organizations, blood everywhere, characters wearing black trench coats, and an atmosphere so dark it seems straight out of a gothic nightmare. And honestly? It works very well. The story follows the Hellsing Organization, a secret group responsible for combating supernatural threats, mainly vampires. The organization's greatest asset is Alucard, an absurdly powerful vampire who works under Integra Hellsing's orders exterminating monsters and demonic creatures. The premise seems simple at first: "a vampire hunts other vampires." But as the episodes progress, the plot begins to re…

This is one of the most classical, most upfront, and most iconic anime of its genre, the tag vampire and it deserves its iconism as based off of the rating given in this review. From iconic tracks for OP and OST, our protagonists truly, Seras Victoria and Alucard themselves, but more solely Alucard himself, the darkness of the setting of the entire anime. What actually transpires are a series of feuds, scandals, major fights... Just like other anime? Yes, but with a twist, the absolutity of Alucard's manipulations which you will see very early from the first episode of the anime. Still though it is not all, absolute high ground, there is something mundane about cross over vampirism from ancient centuries just like most other anime of its genre tag, where the element is from a medievality…

Just watch Hellsing Ultimate instead, and if you want an alternate version done conceivably better, watch the TeamFourStar Hellsing Ultimate Abridged parody. Entirely and drastically inferior version to the Hellsing Ultimate reboot. This covers the same story but was made before the source material was finished so it has an uninspired filler ending of a fight with some generic cringe evil vampire. Starts off slow and after ep 1 the cinematography falls off completely. Even the story itself goes nowhere with nothing to say, even sidelining the Judas Priest. The characters are boring since the dialogue is all pointless filler. The art is low-effort and poor resolution. 3/10 (where 5/10 is average)

I watched this exactly a year ago and retained practically nothing of substance, so I was tempted to watch it again. Unfortunately, my feelings on this series remain unchanged, even just after finishing it. Hellsing only seems memorable because of Alucard and Seras, but it was for their designs rather than their personalities. When it comes to both the story and the characters as people, they honestly can’t be regarded as anything more than decent or fairly average. Hellsing is a clear depiction of style over substance that doesn’t stand out in any sort of way. Hellsing somehow managed to make its story both largely repetitive while still being random and directionless throughout. The story itself is fairly straightforward because a large majority of it is mindless action composed entirel…

I’ve never read the manga and probably never will. Maybe someday, but it’s unlikely. I’ve rewatched the anime a few times, and unfortunately, it gets worse with every viewing. That said, the OST remains an absolute masterpiece—easily one of my all-time favorites. For me, Hellsing is more than just an anime. It’s tied to memories of my school days—hanging out with friends, swapping CDs, and long conversations about the things we loved. All of that somehow became intertwined with this series. So, while its flaws are more obvious to me now, I can’t be entirely indifferent. It’s too closely tied to a part of my life to look at it without sentimentality.

Hellsing provides evidence to the validity of emphasizing art, soundtrack, characterization, and visual storytelling over an approach centered around hard worldbuilding, and more direct exposition. Both methods are valid and can be executed well, but Hellsing takes a more challenging approach to it's interpretation of an unfinished manga. With so much time spent fleshing out characters, exploring the unique style of the work, and introducing one of the most consistently impressive anime soundtracks out there, there's many gaps in the storytelling like lore that needs further exploration, missing pages of origin stories, and central characters that become irrelevant shockingly fast. This is unfortunately (most likely) due to the animes short run time, which is caused by it's completion befo…

I'm a big Hellsing fan. Its manga was among the first mangas I ever read, and to this day remains very cool in my eyes. However, both anime versions of it are beyond disappointing imo, BEYOND DISAPPOINTING. I would even call them OBJECTIVELY very bad, and question the taste of any person that even thinks they are okay, no matter how popular they are. This older one of them in particular truly got almost zero redeeming qualities. To keep it short, please do not waste your time watching this. The story is really generic and the characters are mostly flat and boring. In the manga that was compensated by being pretty cool at least. But in this anime the other factors distract so much from that, that maybe only Alucard remains somewhat cool, and his scenes are the only thing to look forward to…

Haven't watched Ultimite, but screw it. Here's my review anyway. I don't know if I feel this show too much. It has a really distinct style, and some of the main casts are fine, but it still manages to produce some forgettable episodes. It kinda gets messy in the last three episodes. Also, I find Seras' character a bit weird, since I'm pretty sure she has most of the screen time on this show, yet her developement throughout is pretty much treated like an insignificant side character. Idk, it's a bit weird. It's a shame because I found her conflicts with being a vampire initially interesting. I mean it's not like there are no great episodes in this series but still. It does feel really undercooked.

Hellsing is like the textbook definition of style over substance. It doesn't even attempt to bore you with a story, deep characters or any of the other boring stuff. You are here to watch the coolest, most edgy shit you have ever seen and that it very much delivers. Or at least it did a quarter of a century ago. You see, all of these style over substance shows suffer from the exact same problem, one generations cool and edgy is another one's safe and cringy, and so they all age like milk. Hellsing does hold up better than most, but what can I say? Twenty years is a lot of time. The hardest hit would be the animation, betraying its age after a single glance, which for a show like this is a death sentence. It's a shame because I can still see the remains of what made this show so beloved (th…

Let’s begin with what brought you here, Alucard. He is just as good as you expected. But this show doesn’t really show his real greatness. Most of the plot points circle around Alucard flaunting his superb skills and uttering a few smart jokes. It even has a subplot about Seras as she adapts to becoming a vampire although in reality, she is the main character . However, Alucard’s overwhelming power and coolness casts a dark shadow over everything else. The story attempts to be creative about vampires but remains dependent on traditional myths and clichés. As far as the characters are concerned , only Hellsing Org. and a couple of villains are relatively well developed. Just by being there, Alucard effortlessly dominates the show. Integra’s confusing gender presentation may be due to the w…

Show wasnt bad, went in thinking I'd like it and I did. First and a big thing is I love the art style of everything or the way everything is drawn idk I like the colors used and all that First episode introduction of alucard was pretty cool, and the second scene with him in the forest looked really cool, raw asf even. Also for first episode, the opening was pretty good, and the ending was pretty good too, I liked the song more than the visuals though. Kinda expected more ghouls to be in the show based off the opening lmao would have been cool. The music in the show isnt bad, it fits really well with scenes. Some of the vampire stuff in the show is really goofy but its whatever lol. The characters are alright, a select few are pretty good, but a lot of them are really dull or just annoying,…

This anime plunges headfirst into a realm that's both dark and enthralling. Its story is a breath of fresh air in the genre; while there were moments I could predict, the setup's allure made me stick around. I mean, who can resist such a captivating universe, especially when it's complemented by an art style that encapsulates the narrative perfectly? The characters aren't just cut-out templates either. They're layered, with discernible flaws balancing their strengths. They aren't just absurdly overpowered or ridiculously naive; they're nuanced, reacting to unfolding events with a realism that keeps you engaged. Their responses to the twisted situations feel genuine, which, in a setting this intense, is a feat in itself. As much as I was engrossed, I can see how this anime might not be ev…

Hellsing is a dark and violent anime series that explores the world of vampires and the supernatural. It follows the story of Alucard, a powerful vampire who serves as the loyal servant of the Hellsing family, a group of vampire hunters who are sworn to protect humanity from the undead. The series is full of action-packed fight scenes, and the animation is top-notch, with a Gothic-inspired style that perfectly captures the dark and brooding atmosphere of the series. The voice acting is also superb, with each character delivering their lines with conviction and intensity. One of the best things about Hellsing is its complex and well-developed characters. Alucard is a fascinating protagonist, and the show does an excellent job of exploring his backstory and motivations. The other character…

Definitely the essence of the 90s/00s animes, you can find over here. Hellsing (2001) has more fillers than canons, so the episodes are most unique than everything else. It isn't bad tho, but probably won't give hype to anyone who didn't watched anime back in time. So it's kinda dated the style, but it's still watchable. The narrative follows in majority the life of Seras Victoria and Sir Integra than Alucard itself, which is a bold decision that fits the anime, but it doesn't make sense if you already read the manga. In the end, it's a good pastime considered that it's an old anime (I mean, 21 years it's a lot), but i wouldn't recommend. The soundtrack and visual animation is lit tho, the 90s/00s vibes from the anime were something truly amazing that had been lost in the following years…

Narrower scope at start, very good grimy type setting getting you into the degenerate vampires in a ubran london feeling, good at sucking you in, making you feel the world is alive with SAS agent training, MI5 investigators doing independant work, ancient passive vampires being informants and a really awesome Hong Kong Scene(best scene in the show) ^ But the fact the HK scene was the best scene, alongside, maybe the impalement scene, says a lot. It's just boring, not really fun or interesting or having memorable moments. I tried to compliment as best as I could, I think there's something to be learned about the positives of atmosphere and world building from the original series and the narrower scope at the start and having competent humans that don't have superpowers makes it easier to…

Well, Damn. Even before I started watching, I knew this Anime is gonna be awesome, but this was much better than I expected. Before I start, i must say it is a sin to watch this Anime in any other language, this Anime MUST be watched in English Dub only. Shout out to Crispin Freeman, one of the best Voice Actors out there. I get goose bumps, when I hear him talking as Alucard, really, I promise so shall you all!!!!!! Since we are talking about Audio/Sound, let us continue. The Cast for the Eng Dub is just perfect. We have Victoria Harwood giving a elegant and aristocratic voice to Integra, just splendid, and do not forget Seras, her British Accent wonderful sound, when she sais: My Master.... Amazing, the story with each episode gets just better. This is one of those Anime, when you finish…

hellsing original review:- animation/artstyle:- 8/10 for a small studio gonzo did a great job with animation.. the artstyle of hellsing is what every seinen animanga must have always sound:-7/10 compared to hellsing ultimate the soundtrack of original is dumb and bad, only good thing about original hellsing is the opening. rest of the soundtrack is mediocre story:-4/10 the story is not only bad its unfinished too, i could easily give it an 3/10.. but im being merciful person so i gave it 4/10. characters:- 7/10 characters in hellsing original is mostly focused on seras victoria because the anime 1st half is manga canon whereas the 2nd half is the filler.. however our main character alucard is badass just as usual, integra hellsing imo is good written too enjoyment:-8/10 2nd half is bor…

Ever since seeing Alucard's design I wanted to watch this show, so I did. Overall, it was pretty solid given the fact that it came out only 4 years after the manga started. There are definitely some faults, such as the previously stated fact that the manga was still young-ish at the time. It worked well with what it had, but still fell flat in some areas given the lack of content. The characters, aside from Alucard and occasionally Seras, felt kind of bland. Alucard is definitely the reason to watch this show and possibly rewatch it. He's awesome. The art is dated yes, but for 2001 standards it doesn't look too bad. Heck, I kind of dig the old style anyways, but I know its not everyone's thing. I haven't watched Ultimate, but hopefully I will enjoy that as well.
