This comedy doesn't pay homage to other shows, but rather borrows countless random characters and plot elements, then mixes them all together without even trying to form a cohesive story. I think the more you try to explain this show, the less sense it makes. There are some rather humorous scenes and dialogue so at least there's that.
If you can enjoy a ridiculous show without trying to understand it, then it's worth at least the '3 episode test'. Just keep in mind that the rest of the show is more of the same. Don't expect any character or plot development and you won't be disappointed.

I binged this in one day and it was probably the easiest binges I've ever had, simply for the content alone.
I can see where somebody would hate this and I also can see why people would be on the fence about this. What I am sure of is that there are not enough people that like it at an 8/10 like I did.
I think the best part of this is the fact that it is so random and chaotic. There is the baseline between her and the dog that carries things, but all of the stuff that happens outside of them is completely random and it changes from episode to episode. I think the last episode was GOLD.
Follow the nonsense while remembering which character is which by name only or even just association with their primary location, like working at a particular bookstore, is all you need to know. Normally…

Took me a few episodes to figure this show out.
In 2006 a little show came out called Inukami. In it a fox spirit (Kitsune) girl fell in love with a human, he however only saw her as a yokai and didn't respond. The girl being a bit on the Tsundre side "punished" the guy whenever he offended her or looked at someone else.
Ok, take that exact premise only make the guy a dog. Not a dog spirit that spends 90% of the screen time in human form, just a dog. Got it? Crank up the girl's hornyness and Tsundre part to 11... towards a dog... that isn't interested because he's a dog, also because as a human was ACE.
Uncomfortable yet?
Add in every single anime tag you can think of. Battling maid, idol, bro-con...etc just throw that in there and have them all sexually attracted to the dog.
The wo…

When does a story have too much satire? It's when the author doesn't take what they write seriously so why should the audience. Even in the parts that should be taken the most serious can't because the audience has learned that nothing about what they are watching is important but instead a joke.
Watching this show the parts that were the most serious and heartfelt were drowned by a downpour of silliness that nothing had any meaning. A story about death and moving on is reduced to a statical circus of over-the-top characters with oversized props and 2-dimensional personalities instead of anything meaningful. Case in point the protagonist Kazuhito comes across several people from his past life all of which were impacted greatly by his death. Instead of dealing with the issues or emotions…

Overall, this anime is pretty fun to watch, i love all the character, the opening and ending music sounds good for me. I just don't like the story, maybe i need to read the manga too, but in the anime seems incomplete. Very poor story, but what else can i do. Good anime btw, no problemo for me

Never see it coming. That comes to my mind when I saw the first episode of this. To be honest, the very first episode is so memorable and suggest me to watch this series. Then I continue to episode 2, 3 and so on. Not bad. The combination of comedy, slice of life and even action (not actually serious action) is surprisingly good.
Masochist, sadist and the normal one, you can found them in this show. The pacing is well-balanced. Not rushed, but not too slow. The graphic is good maybe since this came from 2013 therefore it is colorful and "shiny". This is recommended for who likes comedy and overreact characters.

I was really hoping this would be something that would click with me, but just like the last time I tried to watch it when it was new in 2013, it just doesn't.
The female-on-male violence felt like animal abuse at first until I realized that you are meant to insert as the dog. So the dog is us submissives, metaphorically. That's fine, but this anime just doesn't work. It's described as a "nonsense comedy mystery" and it does try to be those things, but it's not good at any of them. The nonsense is not particularly interesting, it's not really funny, and it's mystery is just a series of vignettes in the shape of a mystery that are progressively less focused than the one the preceded it- finding the killer from the restaurant, finding the slasher / who is targeting Akiyama Shinobu, and and…

i don't know what this show's intentions where or if it was biased of a visual novel or manga but all i can say is the fact that it felt like it had no real direction at first. the concept of a kid dying and being reincarnated into a dog that only one women can hear is an interesting idea. however it is the rest that becomes an issue.
our main is a teen boy who loves books. after we are introduced to our main we find out that he loves a specific author who comes into play as a main character later. our main (we will call him andy) is killed in a coffee shop robbery after attempting to defend a women at gunpoint. we find out that this women is the author the he loves and after andy is reincarnated into the dog she is the only one who can hear his voice. no reason is given for her being abl…

Harumi Kazuhito isn’t your ordinary bookworm. His entire life revolves around books. I know that may sound like hyperbole, but oh no, I mean that with complete sincerity. I also mean it literally, but we’ll get to that. For now, Harumi is a high school boy who has dedicated his life to the pastime of reading. He basically chain-reads, buying up books by the handfuls, burning through them at supernatural speeds, and hoarding every volume he finishes. He even refused to live with his family, opting instead to live in an apartment by himself so he could go to school in an area where the books he wants are able to come out slightly quicker. One day, while he’s reading in a cafe, a crazed robber bursts in and begins to wave a shotgun around. He threatens a young woman who’s distractedly writing…

I enjoyed this series, but it might not be for everyone.
Story: It's your overly cliche story, boy meets girl, boy saves girl in robbery, boy dies and becomes a dog due to his love of books...seen it a thousand times....okay not really, I liked it, it was a different play on the story I felt. Has like a lot of anime a bit of pacing issues, and hope we get a second season, but been a while, but I feel it would be worth it.
Art: The art is simple, but works not necessarily anything terrible in it.
Characters: this is a strong point, but if you don't like these type of chars you may not enjoy the anime, everyone has personal issues and a bit over the top.
Enjoyment and over all: I did enjoy this series, I'm a bit of a sucker for animals, and becoming animals so well I'm biased, but it's…

Dog and Scissors is an anime as the title states, it is anime about a dog living with a woman with penchant for scissors. It is anime that I believe the creators were interested in simply trolling the audience more than anything. It wasn’t a marketing push, it wasn’t fan service, it was simply unabated trolling.
Story
Your initial impressions of this anime would be, so this is going to be a serious anime but then you quickly see how it becomes weird, pointless, stupid and ridiculous. Honestly, besides the first episode the rest become nonsensical and ridiculous, there is no story, it is nothing more than a bunch of plot holes grouped together to make each episode.
Art
You really think that the creators who created an anime to simply troll the audience would bother with art? Think again,…

This anime is so bad that i decided to make a review out of it. If you are a fanboy of this anime then i suggest that you don't read further.
A warning, I may explain how bad this anime is with a few warnings nothing big.
This anime starts of when the main character dies and turns into a dog. From the beginning that already sounds bad. This anime just has no story. The only resign why I watched it all the way was because I hoped that the story would at least get better, but it didn't. This dog man then lives with a girl because she could read his mind. That just doesn't make sense.
The story gets a 1/10 because it has no story.
Art and music is the only good point of the anime. The dog is so cute and there is very colorful characters. This is the only high point of the anime
The charact…

Dog and Scissors has to be one of the more bizarre anime that I have watched, on the surface appears like it is going to be a whole lot of trash, and believe me I gave my fiancee hell for buying it! But also believe me when I say that this anime is really good, and in a completely non-conventional way!
The premise of the story is that Kazuhito, a HUGE bookwork, protects a young lady in a cafe from a hold-up by jumping in front of a crazy man with a shotgun, to have his head blown off! All the while lady is completely oblivious to what has happened as she is crazily scribbling away!
Kazuhito enters purgatory because he has something he has to complete in life, read the 7th book of the 7 Deadly Sins series by his favourite author, Shinobu Akiyama, and his desire to read this book is so str…

There are many anime shows out there. Some are serious, some are goofy, and some are both. Other shows enjoy dishing out ecchi, and then taking it away because it was all a trap to begin with (God, there's a lot of those). However eventually there is a show that is just really different. Bizarre. Plain weird. And just absurd. That show is Dog & Scissors.
It starts off simple enough as any other anime. It has a plot, and a reason. However those two get resolved pretty quickly, and then the show goes into Simpson-esc sitcom mode. Mostly because this show creates a mini universe type of feel. From a scarf wearing steroid user who loves to talk about muscles while jogging, all the way to an OCD pop model who loves to say "SHINNY!" every 2 seconds. There are…

Plot: (5/10) To be honest if you are looking for a plot while watching this you would probably need a magnifying glass and a metal detector. Each episode feels episodic with little to none character development. After watching all 12 episodes I still don't know what the whole point of the anime was but nonetheless I still enjoyed it. The comedy and characters make up for the plot in a way
Characters: (7/10) If I was to describe all the characters in this anime with one word, I would have to say the are all a bunch of weirdoes with one or two normal people. We have an editor who is a member of the masochistic order, a sadist author, a talking dog, a bro-con yandere younger sister, a singing maid who's broom turns into a sword, a guy with an afro, random half naked guys and the list of weir…

Dog and Scissors had the opportunity to make something fairly interesting.... It had quite the unique plot, imagine if the dog could have occasionally turned human? see what I mean? Potential. Sadly he couldn't turn into a human and the anime exploded into a mass of small boob jokes and borderline bestiality/incest. The characters were actually DISGUSTING, they had overwhelming flaws which heavily outweighed the good making them static and truly just disturbing. Now not only does this anime have flaws with the characters but its plot? Just as bad. It starts off looking fairly promising, something fairly new to the harem industry but it quickly become repetitive and extremely boring. (no joke I would have rather watched Haruhi Suzumiya's endless eight twice in one day) So real quick back to…

A dog as a protagonist?! Is what my reaction was when I first saw Inu to Hasami. And it made me think of how would the story revolve around that dog. So I tried watching it.
I've never watched a series where an animal gets the main stage, so this will be the first one.
So the story revolves around Harumi Kazuhito, a bookworm. He's a die hard fan of Akiyama Shinobu's books. One day he got into a cafe which was about to be robbed by a guy who didn't make any sense later in the story. The robber took out his gun and pointed it at the bartender. After seeing Kazuhito and another customer across Kazuhito's table, he told them to stand up. Kazuhito willingly follows what the robber said. While the girl across him didn't even flinch. The robber points his gun at the girl, ready to shoot. Kazu…

Inu to Hasami wa Tsukaiyou review
"Painful barking"
There are always protagonists that separates one from the other. In this case, what really stands out is a dog as the protagonist. Welcome to the world of Dogs and Scissors!
Story: 5/10
Inu to Hasami wa Tsukaiyou follows the misadventures of Kazuhito Harumi, a booklover who consequently transformed into a dachshund dog; and Kirihime Natsuno, a sadistic yet famous book author.
After watching the anime, I wondered if Kazuhito will ever turn into human again - guess not! But what did I get is that humans can actually fall in love with talking animals. Inu to Hasami wa Tsukaiyou is basically comedy with a tinge of romance. It's definitely a "hoity-toity" kind of anime. But for me, I really took the anime seriously, as I was always wondering…

this is my first review :)
with its serious storyline still made it funny.....
when i started watching this i was first pulled in by a severe comical moment to be then sucked in by the protagonists main story suddenly things got extremely serious.... i was really suprised to say the least....
story: the story line was pretty good although i must say some parts completely confused me and i thought were a little unnecessary (for example the weapon the protagonists sister uses....) However i loved how the were able to blend a serious and comical storyline together so well and so abruptly. i do believe they couldve stretched out the protagonists background story and how he died a little more....
art: they could have been a little more original i think that some of the extra characters hav…

There is no way of getting around the fact this anime is absolutely mental, i mean completely barking mad, but if you go in knowing that you can have fun with it. The relationship dynamic between are two mains makes for a lot of funny slapstick moments, in fact there is a lot of adult-ish humour in this show, if anything it is at times very funny. Also, it the relationship between dog and owner(ish) is at times sweet and endearing, but mostly its just batshit insane. randomly jumping from mystery, to fight scenes to writing contests this anime is all over the place, don't try and apply logic, it wont work. Although you could say this is bad, i think its one of the strengths of the show, you genuinely have no idea what could happen at any point. If you have some time and you want to watch s…
