Kingdom

Kingdom

Introduction

China’s Warring States period, a raging dragon that would raze the land for 500 years, saw many kingdoms rise and fall, making way for the next generation of kings and generals to fight for supremacy. Eventually, seven powerful states emerged from the endless cycle of warfare. In the kingdom of Qin, Xin, a war-orphaned slave, trains vigorously with fellow slave and best friend, Piao, who shares his proud dream of one day becoming a Great General of the Heavens. However, the two are suddenly forced to part ways when Piao is recruited to work in the royal palace by a retainer of the King. After a fierce coup d'état unfolds, Piao returns to Xin, half dead, with a mission that will lead him to a meeting with China's young King, Ying Zheng, who bears a striking resemblance to Piao. Kingdom follows Xin as he takes his first steps into the great blood-soaked pages of China's history. He must carve his own path to glory on his long quest to become a Great General of the historic Seven Warring States. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

The manga is substantially better than this and largely and only because of the animation and it being so ugly to look at but when you get past that this season is the start of an absolutely incredible journey - the story is just so damn intriguing and pulls more than its own weight and makes up for the hideous animation - I did read the manga portion of this but also watched it and the season is very faithful - all timer warfare manga and one that does it incredibly realistically - just love all of the characters that are introduced and the designs for the generals are great

[Spoiler Free, only season 1] Having read the manga up to date I'd like to weigh in on this highly debated anime. First off, yes the CGI is pretty bad in the first half of the season there's no arguing around that. In fact it's the main reason I cannot rate it any higher. Another "issue" I had was some of the story is front loaded i.E certain parts of some characters backstory doesn't develop as natural or "real" as it does in the Manga. But it is by no means badly done, just ruffled my feathers a bit tbqh. The manga is insanely gory, the anime is watered down in that department but I don't really care too much about that. Although seeing 10 man being decapitated just isn't the same as them just flying away by a gust of wind. Aside from that, the story is the main selling point and…

THIS REVIEW IS FOR THIS SEASON OF KINGDOM ONLY A.K.A SEASON 1!!!! The story itself is great and deserves a solid 8.5/10. The first arc is the typical story of trying to take down the villain, and then followed by the 2nd arc focusing on the development of the MC (Shin) as he begin his first step to become a general. Both arcs are solid But the main issue with this season is how it's poorly animated. It feels like watching a game cutscenes mixed with a little bit hand-drawn animation of how the usual anime should be. It's horrible and makes it unbearable to watch. If you aren't a fan of horrible animation, then just fast forward this season to at least get a bit understanding of the story as it require you to understand the progress for the 2nd season. If not, then just watch each episod…

The first season of Kingdom is probably the weakest out of all the seasons but is still a great beginning to a legendary story. The first season serves as a set up season and builds up a foundation of what this series is all about. The animation is not the best and if you are looking at it in 2020s or later you might feel that it is outdated. The 3d models are not great to look at as well. Despite the animation setbacks, the story is great. And the animation does get better toward the end. Although there are some unbelievable and out of the top moments, the story follows a consistent pace. The characters are mostly memorable. The main character for instance is known for being loud and passionate and he grows on you. Initially he might seem annoying and eager. But as time pass you start t…

Scratch that ancient war tactics itch. 7/10 TL:DR; The start is ROUGH - in every way. The animation is just bad, the tropes and humor feel like they were created by a someone that watched early 2000s anime in hopes to emulate what made them popular, and the voice acting is stale. Once you come out on the other side, you are presented with some of the most interesting military strategy content you never knew you needed. War is where this series shines. The Review: I cannot stress enough how much of a slog this anime is early on. You will be tested. And I'm talking first 60 episodes of One Piece level tested. They are clearly building the plane as they fly it. It seems like this was the studio's first series and they wanted to be sure they were ready for the really elaborate war scenes la…

[JP, subtitles are average but be aware there is a set that uses Japanese names and a set using Chinese names. The audio uses Japanese names. Example: character says Shin, it is spelled Shin, but Chinese spelling is Xin.] From the perspective of going in blind this anime is so-so. From the perspective of having read the manga this anime is an atrocity. It only appears ok to a blind viewer because some serious faults are in plain view but unnoticed. One such fault is fatalities are very unclear. Often the men being thrown around are actually being killed, and just as often they are merely being thrown around collapsed but breathing. You can't tell. The only clarification comes in the form of a character mentioning x is still alive or x just died. With no mention you don't know. Because th…

Honestly, the studio ruined this anime. It had a beautiful and very interesting story, but despite that, it was difficult for me to watch the episodes due to poor production. I went to see the manga and was shocked by the quality of the drawing and writing. My advice is to go and watch the manga to enjoy it. For those who don't like manga, my advice is to follow Kingdom. The first two seasons are full of the damned art, or read up to chapter 260 or so, and then go and watch season 3. The drawing and animation improve greatly, and watching becomes more enjoyable with the OSTs and music in the anime

This is an irredeemably bad anime. Its title might as well been "Exposition and flashbacks". Who would EVER consider creating an anime about ancient wars / close combat sword fighting and create such a clunky pos. Without exaggeration, 90% of the anime up to episode 17 took place in the past. Every action sequence the viewer might actually enjoy during the other 10% is censored and badly animated. I am not an overly serious person and the comedic relief has yet to make me grin, not to mention laugh. Not a single major side character that has been introduced so far has been an actually likeable person, the pendulum swings between obnoxious, belittling and aloof. How this anime manages an average of 7,9 is completely beyond me. The only reason I'm giving this 3/10 pity points is because it g…

Kingdom is the kind of anime that starts as a slow burn and transforms into a historical epic that commands your attention with every episode. If you're patient enough to push past the rough edges of the first season's CGI, you'll be rewarded with one of the most intense and character-driven stories anime has to offer. Set during China’s Warring States period, Kingdom follows Xin (Shin), a war orphan with dreams of becoming the greatest general under the heavens. What starts as a simple tale of ambition evolves into a sweeping narrative filled with grand-scale warfare, complex political intrigue, and unforgettable character development. What makes Kingdom a masterpiece: Strategic Warfare at Its Best: Unlike many anime that treat battles as flashy spectacles, Kingdom excels in military s…

I finished it and came to write, I honestly don't have emotional words to describe the mix of feelings I felt from the beginning of the anime until the last episode. At first I honestly hated the animation, it's not something I usually criticize in relatively old animes, but it could be better, but if after episode 5 you get used to it, it wasn't a problem. Now talking about the story, emotion, development of the story and the characters, I only have one word, "CINEMA" what I felt emotionally even though I knew it was a war and everyone could die is not easy to explain, the anime makes you to like all the characters and know them enough to feel the consequences of the problems that arise. and that ending, without words, but MALE TEARS FLOWED

4.0 to 6.75/10 depending on the season. In my long journey of waiting for Once Piece to conclude or at least waiting for an announcement of the end, I have finally come to Kingdom: Kingdom Season 1 is physically pretty had to watch, having essentially PS1-2 Graphics. I feel like we got the Berserk 2016 treatment which is pretty shit. Similar to FF14 if you can get past the first part, the pay off is pretty good, but the first... 15-20 ep, are pretty bad and unbearable to be completely honest. If it was not for the fact that I was 'watching' this while working, and it having my 2nd or 3rd thing for my attention I never would have made it past ep3 or so. Kingdom is a Historical Fiction based on the forming of China about 2300 years ago, from what I can tell if you look at everything from…

This show is a perfect example on not judging something only by its looks. And yes ill admit. I was close to doing just that with Kingdom. I did have a quite hard time at the start. I just couldnt get into it with the ugly CGI. But i stuck by it and thank for that. Since then its a great show. The battles are great. Great large cast of characters. Intruiging plot. Conspiracy. Tactical battles. Politics. Music is generally good throughout. Also if you stick by season one. Animation gets better. Sawano joins the team. Looking back its almost like they didnt believe in it from the start and didnt want to put money and effort into it. But from season seeing rise in popularity and great source material to deem it worthy of better production value. Patience is a virtue. Give this a chance.…

In simple word watch it if you can bear some shity animation because in the end it will be worthit. i give this anime 7 but it deserves 9 , i cut 2 points for animation only , usuallly i cut 1 point but this time studio pirreot has done more shit in animation then in naruto....... So basically it about mc become a great worrior or general but unlike other anime this anime does not just focus on mc , you will get some episodes where there is focus on some other characters, which i really like. but according to me this season does not have exceptional heart touching moments (exeption last few episodes) but still diliver its message really good , i complete this anime in just 2 days so i totaly recommend it.

This is an amazing show. People don’t give this show a chance because the CGI animation in seasons 1 & 2 is horrendous. But if you like anime like Attack on Titan, Fullmetal Alchemist, Berserk, other mature shows with complex plots and engaging characters, you will eventually love this show. And by the time you get to seasons 3 & 4, it will be one of your all time favorites. This isn’t just my opinion; seasons 3 &4 are in the Top 50 shows on MAL. Story: 10/10 Kingdom is loosely based on Ancient China’s Warring States period, following the rise of a young soldier named Shin in the Kingdom of Xin. It is a very masculine show with lots of fighting, as one would expect with the topic. The political and personal narratives of characters and nations unfold during endless battles and warfare. In…

"MAN I LOVE KINGDOM." -Sun Tzu People are sleeping on this gem of a story and now that my eyes have been opened to this anime by my brother Lion_Sin, I am here to preach. When I began watching this at first I was a young spoiled brat who knew nothing of the world. "Ah nani kore wa? Gomi desu ka? Kimochi warui. What the heck is this 3D mannequin looking anime?" Alas, I was stabbed, kidnapped and taken through a rollercoaster, dropped in between only to be caught in a pyramid scheme and finding out it was run by my brother Lion_Sin who smacked my insolent butt and laughed at my ignorance. My whole world changed. Now I am a reformed young gentleman with a big pp and a 160 IQ gigabrain. FIRSTLY, IGNORE THE ANIMATION, IT GETS SO MUCH BETTER LATER. One of the biggest hurdles to entering thi…

Whoever gives this anime a review below 9 after watching all 38 episodes needs to have their brain checked. Granted the first 6 episodes felt like I was going to pull my hair out watching in frustration due to the seriously bad anime style and the utterly monotonous story line. But after episode 6, the entire narrative, tempo and to some sense the anime style changed. I was at a 6-7/10 by the time the first arc complete. But then the subsequent arcs just built up this story and the essence of this anime. I always had it at the back of my mind that Wang Qi was going to be a controversial character from the first time he made an appearance. But never would I have believed his impact on this storyline. His character, personality and essence was immeasurable and by the end of episode 38,…

Compared to other animes and ofc the manga, had to say that the first season is bad, really bad. I'm going to make this short. The Kingdom manga easiest one of the top 5 seinen manga. It's a huge crime that they made the first season look like some old PS2 video game. Kingdom manga is known for its gory battles and war, the fact they censored the whole season is disgusting. No blood, really? Yes there's some blood, but gray colored? Opening and its music are top notch, voice acting is OK, and the story still following the original manga content. For manga readers, it's okay for you to watch this but bare it and be strong because the visual may hurt your brain and eyes. As for anime only, I DON'T recommend you to watch this but start from season 3 instead.

*KINGDOM_SEASON:1* I just finished watching Kingdom season 4... and it was awesome! Now looking back at the season 1 anime adaptation of Kingdom, I have to say it, It was not good... but it was not bad either. My first view of season 1 was that it was badly adapted. With the overuse of CGI, I hated it. I mean it is an anime adaptation, people prefer anime over manga because their favorite characters are alive with animation, voices, soundtracks, etc. The only reason I kept on watching this anime is because of its interesting plot. I will deduct 2 points for its bad animation and our main character shin. Kingdom is an anime about politics, and war with clever tactics. But our boy shin is beating high lever commanders with recklessness and ease! It made war look easy and fun! And most of…

" An eye for an eye and the whole world considers you an organ trafficker. " - Every madman ever Kingdom is good. It's that part of the meal, we all are indifferent to. It's the spinach with spices in our thanksgiving meal. Not hated as much as that FREAKIN USELESS CORN ON COB. But of course not loved as much as granma's mac&cheese. Sorry, got dragged a bit there. Back to the subject, I'm indifferent to Kingdom season 1. Animation: Bad.... ill be frank, no rollercoaster rides here. It's like watching a bird lay an egg and suck it back in the middle of the process; cause they actually animate a few scenes and the rest is CG. It makes you think you're senile, cause at one moment a character looks badass and amazing and in the next he looks worse than the addict down across your street, but…

Kingdom Season 1 is a big disappointment. The show is a historical epic about wars and heroes, but it does not dig into the setting deeply. It is closer to an action adventure show about a kid fighting strong opponents, but follows a simplistic, obnoxious protagonist that barely develops. On top of these, the poor production quality hampers the excitement and the storytelling. I had a somewhat high expectations for Kingdom: - I had heard the manga described as one of the great historical epics, mentioned in the same breath as Vinland Saga. I had not read either, but I was absolutely blown away by Season 1 of Vinland Saga. - I was very interested in its setting, the warring states period of ancient China, since I enjoyed reading "Romance of the Three Kingdoms". - Kingdom Season 4 was airin…
