Major S1

Introduction

Gorou Honda, a little boy obsessed with baseball, has always admired his father, Shigeharu. Wishing to follow in his father's footsteps, Gorou dreams of becoming a professional baseball player. In turn, his son's starry-eyed admiration encourages Shigeharu to keep persevering, despite his late wife's death and his unsatisfying position on the second-string team Blue Ocean. Unfortunately, an elbow injury forces Shigeharu off the team, and he falls into despair. However, after an offhand joke from his childhood friend, Shigeharu reevaluates his choices and decides to keep playing, leaving behind his prime position as pitcher and taking up the bat. Now motivated more than ever, Gorou works hard to carve his way in the Japanese Little League. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Major is an immensely compelling baseball series that utilizes its non-baseball moments to their fullest extent possible. Of the many long-running sports anime I’ve come across, this one has, by far, the highest percentage of screen time dedicated to scenes that don’t directly involve playing or training for its sport of choice, and the cast as a whole is all the richer and more fleshed-out because of this. The deeply complicated motivations these characters have, the dramatic and ever-evolving relationships they develop, and the sheer willpower they cultivate through the growth they experience not just as players, but also as human beings truly sets this work apart. Gorou as the shining prodigy at the center of all of this and the turbulent life he leads as he walks in his father’s footst…

After rewatched this recently, I take this opportunity to regrade this series, many years ago I think around 7 I rate this very low like around 5/10, because and perhaps this series was very old, secondly I know nothing about baseball but after rewatched AOD many times. I finds actually this series are a part of masterpiece esp on the 3rd episodes why his father dun allow him to used hardball. Although the first season is a bit dramas but overall I know why this is considered one of the epic in sport anime. With the blu-ray edition the color all better now I believe the new viewers is easier to accept compared to what I watch back then. Of course if you have no ideas about baseball you will find baseball hard to watch unlike Haikyuu.

I watched all the seasons of Major (from season 1 to the damn OVA message), anyone who is hesitant to start watching this amazing show, don't be. Start watching NOW!! Yes, it is a bit slow however as someone who hates sports animes, this is one of the greatest animes I have ever watched. Not only do you get to see Shigeno grow up to be an amazing baseballer, but you get to see him grow as a person, I felt like I watched my son grow up. TBH if I have kids in the future, I know they will not make me happy as I have felt watching this kid grow up to be the greatest. Please do yourself a favour and just watch all the seasons, trust me you will have no regrets.

Just finished this anime, this is the best sports anime I have ever watched. Tells the story of Honda Goro, the son of professional baseball player Honda Shigeharu who loves baseball like his father, but one day his father injured his hand so he couldn't play as a starting pitcher, from there the lives of Goro and his father began to change. I could say this is a sports anime that is different from other sports anime, because this anime has a drama genre that can be said to exceed the sports genre itself, especially in episodes 1-6. In early i thought this anime had drama as the main genre and sports as the second genre because Major not only tells the story of Goro's career but also tells the life of Goro and his family. In this anime, all the characters have quite the right portions, wit…

I will just write a review for the series as a whole here as I am too lazy to type out each individual review, it started a bit slow for me at the beginning but that's only because I didn't take the little league arc that serious, however when I got into season 2 and onwards, man it was such a ride. I just love Goro's growth not only as a baseball player but a person himself overcoming hardships throughout his career and ofcourse the same applies for Sato who is very similar to Goro. Overall my favourite season had to be season 2 as you can clearly see how Goro is maturing as I mentioned before. When it comes to the animation it is a bit old but that is not a problem for me at all. Overall I think this could be my favourite sports anime because throughout all seasons you literally see…

This first Major season is really interesting. This series shows Goro Honda as a little kid, his interaction previously with his dad, his teacher and his best friend Sato Toshiya. After this little arc, we are presented to his Minor League team; The Dolphins, where Goro is the main pitcher, together with new school friends. The enter in a showdown to the Minor Champion, where Honda met again his childhood friend Toshiya, as a rival, playing as a Yokohama Little League catcher and extremely amazing player with the bat! That's the start to Honda Goro trophies, enemies and friends in the sport. IS ONE OF THE BEST ANIMES I'VE EVER SEEN, NO WATCHING THIS MASTERPIECE IS ALMOST A CRIME! GO AND WATCH!!!!!!!!!!

If you want an overall review quick and simple then this is a rare catch that brings out the best of the best "feels" in an anime. To be fair this anime was only held back when it was released, with not-so-great technology so the video is not what it is like today. But it made up for that lacking aspect by bringing out some of my FAVORITE intro music and proper emotional development. Story 9/10: The story for Major, in general, is absolutely amazing. It tells the story of a boy who wants to become a pro like his father but it's more than just baseball. Most people critique sports animes just because they are in the "sports" category which shouldn't even be applied here. This anime is more slice of life since the story dives into the character's past and the growth one faces in mourning de…

Major is soo good. Its not very often to find an anime that looks like for kids from the front cover, but turns out its an anime suitable for older ages. Season 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and the 2 new seasons for the new generations of Major are as great as the old generation. Ive rewatched every season twice at the time of review, and this review was right after finishing the World Series OVA. 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10…

When COVID-19 put Major League Baseball on hold, I was disappointed. I'm not the biggest baseball fan, but I love watching my home team and look forward to having games to watch during the week and a fan community to follow and feel a part of. With the delay of the 2020 season I was debating whether to watch Major or Ace of Diamond and with both having multiple seasons and 100+ episodes, was kind of put off from committing to such a long series. I decided to finally watch Major from the recommendation of my siblings and I was absolutely blown away. It was an absolute fun ride and a really emotional heartfelt story. Despite starting off when Goro is only 5, the story manages to discuss very serious and mature themes. Major manages to transcend the sports anime genre from being a "really g…

I don't know what was wrong with me but it took me time to watch Major though to be a sport genre anime sport which is my favourite anime genre, and no, it's not the baseball game, I already learned from Cross Gamer that baseball have great deep playing than tennis soccer or basketball and specifically because of that it is very enjoying sport, it was not also the length of the franchise - the more the anime is long I more love to marathon it, and still I don't know what kept mo so long to watch Major. The minute I finally went and get the 1st season episodes I already marathoned the first 4 episodes, the story and the characters just got into me, I couldn't wait and I watched the whole 1st season in only 2 days, the story (though to be a normal shounen story about kid who wants to be a pr…

definitely worth a look, binged the series in a whole day and it brought me to tears at least 3-4 time. The first thing that caught my eye was the plot/storyline, just something intriguing and giving you the feeling of 'oh my, what's next' Secondly the characters! Probably one of the best protagonists you can have, Hasn't frustrated me once and have made me cry a few times. Hopefully, this review can give you a little insight of the anime, this is lowkey my first ever review online so I was lost for words at the number of times I saw 'not enough words'

I can't believe I haven't stumbled upon this anime until 2018 ... I confess I've seen all of it in less than a month and OMG it was sooo good. The word underrated was made exactly to define this anime... I just finished watching it and I can't quite put it into words the feeling that this left me . It was so good, the fact that you can follow up the MCs life from the age of 5 until hes a full grown up it is absolutely amazing. The way the story is told is a masterpiece. This anime takes you trough a rollercoster of feeling , from crying to cheering. All I can say it is the perfect anime for my taste. I would 10/10 recommend this to any of my friends

If you are into sports anime or like sports at all this show is a must watch period. Going beyond that for anyone looking to break into the sports anime scene I would say that this would be a great start. Unlike other sports anime I have seen, this one does a better job of balancing SoL with sports so you aren't just watching baseball the entire time. That being said it is still primarily about baseball so it scratches that sports anime itch I get from time to time. I want to make this review to solidify my reasoning behind giving this show a 10 for all time. This show has the best story crafting I have ever witnessed in all the 100+ anime I have seen. The show evokes emotion, has a clear, coherent, and interesting plot that anyone can get behind and enjoy. There are highs, there are low…

Major is such an underrated anime, and I absolutely loved watching it. The further seasons will almost definitely get higher marks from me. The main charm of the series in my opinion is the genuine nature of the drama and the interactions in the character. There was never a point when it came to the characters that I thought "This would only happen in anime". That's actually a lie, there is exactly one part where this did creep to mind and holds it back a little bit. Hoshino and Goro's dad got together way to fast to the point where it wasn't exactly believable to be honest. They literally got engaged before they even kissed (at least on screen). The rest of the show wasn't exactly amazing, but well done. For the most part the sports scenes weren't too dragged out and somewhat believable,…

Major tells only one story throughout the course of its six seasons. That fact holds more than it seems, but talking about the construction of the story or the characters couldn't come without necessarily spoilers (it also holds the advantage of needing only one review for the whole saga). So, in order to prevent it, we'll focus on some general elements, the ones able to translate the qualities of the show. And yes, qualities only, for even when not at its best, Major never fails on any aspect. That particular steadiness shows up in the art, the animation and the sound. Although there is nothing really worth noticing about those, the job is still very well done, and you can't really tell if there's a difference between the first and the last episode on a 155-run. Consistency is also the k…

"Never judge a book by its cover." This is a saying everyone should live by. I for one have always ended up judging several anime based on what the cover looks like, but Major is one I am glad that I have given a try. It may shy away some people because it's a sports anime, but it teaches so much more and was a great watch! I cannot believe that it is this underrated and such a gem. Everyone should give this series a try. I wish I could have written a better review, but please bear with me as this is my first. I just could not pass up the chance to review such a great anime.

"These types of wounds will heal with a little spit." This review is for the entire series. Major, to me, is arguably one of the best anime ever created. Its story is truly paralleled by no other. Watching Major is like being gently yet purposefully guided along a path filled with twists, bends, steep inclines, and difficult obstacles, but the experiences along the way will be remembered for the rest of your life. I have a special place in my heart for Honda Gorou, the main character throughout this series. After watching all there is to watch, all 6 seasons, both OVAs, and the movie, I'm left with an empty, resounding ache that never wants to let Gorou go. The story follows the life of Honda Gorou, from his nursery school days in the first season all the way up to his mid-thirties in t…

In the realm of sports anime it seems they are either a big hit or a miss. The anime Major, is a baseball anime focused on the main character’s journey growing up through baseball and actually ages as the series progresses. It was produced by the smaller and lesser known Studio Hibari (Duel Masters) and directed by the up-and-comer Kenichi Kasai. He is known for his great storyboard work and the story within Major is definitely something worth the emotional investment. Our main character, Gorou Honda is a small kid in kindergarten living alone with his dad. Even then, since his dad is a professional baseball pitcher, Gorou usually finds himself alone at home. When he was even younger Gorou’s mother died. This anime puts the viewer into an emotional roller coaster early and often. The Hond…

Okay, disclaimer, baseball is one of my favorite sports. I never got to play it growing up because I had track and that was in the spring, but it's one of my favorites. I religiously follow my favorite baseball team in the summer. But that's not the point of this anime. Let me also say that I literally made an account on this thing just to write a review on this masterpiece of an anime. I don't watch anime that often, I watch it to brush up on my Japanese and get some enjoyment out of it as well. I am Japanese so yeah, I just suck at it but whatever. But let me just review this thing. Major is easily my favorite anime of all time. Am I bias? Sure. Absolutely. But it's not just that I love baseball. When I was looking for an anime to watch way back when in middle school, I wanted to watc…
