Ace of Diamond

Ace of Diamond

Introduction

With a stray pitch that completely missed the batter, Eijun Sawamura loses his final middle school baseball game. Frustrated by this defeat, Eijun and his teammates vow to reach the national tournament once they are in high school. But everything changes when a scout unexpectedly invites him to Tokyo's prestigious Seidou High School after seeing the potential in his unusual pitching style. Encouraged by his teammates, Eijun accepts the offer, ready to improve his skills and play at a much more competitive level of baseball. However, now surrounded by a large number of skilled players, Eijun struggles to find his place on the team. He declares that he will one day become the team's ace, but that's only if fellow first year Satoru Furuya doesn't take the title first, with his breakneck fastballs that earn him a coveted spot on the starting roster. With the addition of these talented new players to an already powerful lineup, the Seidou baseball team aims to become the best in Japan, facing off against a number of formidable foes that stand in their way. EPISODE 1-3 Eijun fails in the last middle school match, then his life changes when a talent scout named Rei notices his unique throwing style and he gets an invite to Seidou. This is effective because from the start we’re given a main character with wounds, a dream, and huge energy. So the emotions land because the defeat feels bitter but also fuels his ambition to become an ace it’s fire. He’s shown as someone who lost but refuses to give up, always noisy and persistent; you can’t separate that from Eijun’s character. He’s messy in many ways, overly enthusiastic, looks very much like a kid, but that persona works as an intriguing opener. Eijun’s unique pitching identity shows early, and it’s funny because his way of talking is chaotic and his enthusiasm often crashes into reality. T…

Certainly not as popular as some other sports anime, but Diamond No Ace definitely holds its own thanks to its good storytelling and well-written characters. The pacing might not be ideal for viewers who have not delved into sports series, but compared to others in the genre, I would say it is fairly average. What differentiates this anime from other baseball/sports anime is the overt psychological aspect of the game, which, from time to time, might be irritating to some, but it can also give the matches a unique intensity and depth. I also haven't seen anybody talk about the soundtrack, which, in my opinion, is one of the best in anime, especially at the times it is used, bringing out the emotion in certain backstories and situations. In sports anime, one is expecting some wholesome mom…

potentially the worst anime i've ever watched. i've never seen something so boring, trite, and blatantly offensive to me and my time. the story was predictable and utterly monotonous. i feel the style was as if drawn by a child. the characters were all flat caricature. they're so stupid it made me feel more stupid. nothing was realistic. if you're a real baseball fan like me you'd know they had no idea of anything about the real sport. i think anyone and everyone i could think of would hate this anime. if you enjoy baseball anime and want a real recommendation watch ookiku furikabutte 11/10

I have watched and logged more than 60 anime series on myanimelist but never written reviews before. This is the most underrated anime I have ever watched. I was never a baseball fan and I didn't even know the rules properly, but this anime made me interested about baseball. The overall story, progression of the main character, character development and the OST's of this anime are so good that I had to write a review. I want more people to know about this anime just like Haikyu!! Also, they are releasing the last season next year so this anime will be finally complete. So, it's the best time to jump onto this anime now.

I recommend this anime to sports fans. Honestly, the pacing is slow, so it might not be for those who get bored easily. However, for patient viewers who appreciate storytelling, this could be a great addition to your watchlist. For sports anime fans, it won't disappoint. The genre's usual team sports theme shines through, with deep emotions, strong determination, ambition, and exceptional skills. The strong opposing teams make me excited and curious. What I love about sports anime is the suspense of facing new opponents. The MC stands out with a unique personality, and their skill and humor had me laughing and invested in the story. Give it a try if you're curious! ^_^

Maybe you have to know or play baseball to like this series as much as I did, but to me, it is a very fun show to watch. It is quite realistic in the way that it portrays baseball, which can be rare for sports animes. There are some slow moments and lows, however the highs are absolutely incredible and gut-gripping. This show really does a good job of twisting expectations and keeping you guessing. I have tried on multiple occasions to try and guess what will happen, and I have been wrong almost all the time. This also sparked an intrest in Japanese baseball culture and practices for me, and if you play or enjoy baseball, it is a must watch.

No need for superpowers, Baseball is already epic enough. Ace No Diamond achieved the subtle performance of remaining technical and grounded without losing the viewers attention. We don't feel like we are being treated like idiots and rather enjoy becoming Baseball experts throughout the show. One of DNA's strengh is they keep the story very realistic. Which makes it very difficult to predict whether the MC will deliver or not. He eventually will (I presume), it is a sport shonen after all. But the storytelling is efficient to a point of rendering his progress unpredictable. Since I mentionned the MC, let's have a closer look at him. At first glance Sawamura may seem like the regular loud generic shonen underdog. Which he kind of is. However, his abilities as a pitcher aiming to become t…

The only anime that I want to rewatch just after finishing it. All characters are lovable even the opposing teams. I just fell in love with every one of them. The plot is a bit overstretch and repetitive but somehow it is one of the most enjoyable stories about high school sports. I started it without prior knowledge about baseball but I still love every bit of it. Every game is thrilling and exciting (and also funny). When it comes to animation and art, it is not the best or worst. Also, the op and ed are bops and I listened to them every now and then. The rivalry between the mc and Furuya is so good and uplifting, its a rivalry that benefits both of them. I'm just hoping for more interaction between the Seido and other teams, just like Haikyu.

A remarkable baseball anime!! I had found this anime from someone on twitter. At the beginning of watching this anime, I feel it is a bit boring because our Eijun or my cutie pie or our main character does not have the coach's permission to pitch any ball. But after Eijun has the permission and gets the chance to play in the practice game and get into the second string, the story has become more interesting. The appearance of Chris sempai makes a huge emotion to me, how nice of him and how Chris sempai patient of him to do the physical therapy due to his shoulder injury. The end of season1 makes emotion to me too, because of the lose of Seido and Eijun's yips condition that makes him fear to throw the inside ball. And Chris sempai appears again to encourage Eijun to pitch again, not the in…

Everyone should be watching this anime, especially if they are a Sport's anime fan. I know this may sound silly because, it's a sport's anime BUT it has some of the best character development and interactions out there. The characters journeys are enough to make this a spectacular anime AND then you add to that the fact that they have amazing action and comedy! It's almost not fair how near perfect it is. Plus, it does an incredible job at keeping you in your toes. Unlike most sport's anime, in Diamond no Ace, no team is guaranteed to win or lose. It doesn't matter if you are the main character, a rematch between rivals has been developed or you just got a super heartfelt flashback, Diamond No Ace will always manage to pull the rug under your feet. The only reason why I didn't give S1 t…

Even after watching numerous animes, Ace of Diamond still remains the number one in my heart. I found this in my first years of high school through Animax, and every time, I would always try to get home as early as I can so I could catch it airing. I'm not too critical; I like what I like and this gets a 10/10 overall for me. Given, the art is really nice. Not awkward, and captures the action perfectly. It also has a certain "lighting" to it that I can still picture now, even as I haven't watched this in years. What can I say, this is really entertaining. I want to comment especially on the humor and pacing of this show. The humor? Definitely there. Pretty casual in short. Not forced and really lights up my spirit. The pacing makes it really worthwhile. All I can say is that you can def…

Diamond no Ace is an anime from 2013-2015 based on a Terajima Yuki manga. The anime was handled by Production IG and Madhouse. I'm not expecting much since it's a sport anime but it was a request so, let's get into it. Story: We open with our main protagonist, Sawamura Eijun, being recruited by Seidou, a school with a proud tradition of throwing balls and hitting them with sticks. He sets his sight on becoming the lead pitcher and getting the coveted "Ace number." From there, the anime follows Seidou's performance in a big tournament and the aftermath. Let's start with the main problem that really makes this series kind of unbearable. The pacing is horrendously slow. The longer games take longer than the card games in Duel Monsters and at least those have holographic monsters attacking…

Spoiler warning I enjoyed watching this one! The games were exciting and stressful, which I loved. There were a lot of characters that really made me laugh and want to root for, even on the opposing teams. My favorite characters are Chris senpai and Sawamura. Chris is such a great person! I always smile whenever he says something or shows up to help. I also like the captain, Yuki, because he’s really good and so cool! From the anime cover, I thought Sawamura would be really intense and hard to deal with, but he’s such a silly boy! I love how happy, simple, and idiotic he is. OSU! OSU! OOOOSU! Also the nicknames he gives everyone is hilarious! Hahaha but he has so much heart and gradually improves. I enjoy seeing his organic growth. Even when he loses his way, I love how others try to help…

Haikyuu was my very first sports anime so I didn't really know what to think when getting into this one. The start was a bit slow but I was interested enough in the characters to keep going until the plot finally started. Sawamura's journey into high school baseball reminded me of Hinata where they both started at the bottom rising to the top. He realizes his own weaknesses yet never lets that stop him and is able to overcome the challenges with help of the fellow upperclassmen. Similar to Haikyuu Sawamura has a rival who is also aiming for the same spot he's achieving to get and we see healthy competition as both rivals help challenge each other. Lastly, towards the end of the tournament, I see that the animators and writer did a good job at setting the premise for the second season as…

It's been a while since I've become attached to an anime and truly loved it. I can't express how watching Daiya changed me. First of all, it's a great sports anime, and you'll grow fond of all the characters, even from other schools. I'm still listening to the opening and ending songs even to this day. I honestly love all the characters and the anime, but I completely understand how some people were frustrated in the main character's development. As of this review, Daiya has 3 seasons, the last season airing in 2019. So I can't wait for season 4 and to see more of Sawamura. From what I've seen, a lot of people were upset at the creators for putting Furuya first instead of Sawamura, even though Sawamura is the main character. And I totally understood their frustration because even now, he's…

This show has a very strong and engaging start. The introduction to the characters are nicely done, the premise is interesting. I like that it wasn't going to be an "underdog" story. I feel like the first 20ish episodes is where the anime truly shines after that it kind of goes downhill for me. The show was really good at setting up a goal for Sawamura and the team. Watching how they achive that goal was exciting and mostly rewarding. My favourite part was the Chris storyline and how Sawamura learns from his mistake and grows as a character. On the other hand I think the show fails at creating a well-rounded rival for our main character. I hated Furuya. This kind of rivalry is hard to done well. You want this character to be somewhat threatoning yet loveable - and I feel like DnA fails at…

History: (5.5 / 10) In this section I feel that it simply fulfills the predetermined role of granting as such the baseball sports quota with a somewhat cliche resource of the genre such as "the growth of the team as an introduction", and then the development of any tournament, in this case to be more precise the "Tokyo prefecture summer tournament". So far so good, but I do not notice anything particular or original that contributed to the world "Spokon" with so many promising titles and above all in the area of Baseball such as "Cross game" or "Major". It also hurts me the fact that 75 chapters have covered relatively "little" within the plot and something else awaits me, although I do not remove the merit in some other moments of games that cut gave fluidity to this section. Art: (9/…

*spoiler free! baby Diamond no ace, an outstnading show but barely known outside of japan. So is it good or worth watching? my answer will be: yes. Daiya is a story about a boy named Sawamura who left his hometown to Tokyo and joint this Baseball team where he aims to become the ace. so that was basically the whole story. But it is more than just a boy wanting to be ace in a baseball team. there was sad moments, happy moments, idiotic (cute) moments that makes me go uwu- and unexpected twist and turns. How the ratio of baseball to other random stuff (like eating and people chatting in their dorms) is really well balanced. I also really like the fact that they live in dorms and they are always together doing random stuff. the baseball games are also really well made, as a person that is…

Diamond no Ace really delivers in terms of Youthness. My old soul is crying watching this. The art is also acceptable since its an old anime, though there are so many characters that it might be troubling for you to remember them all, especially the minor characters. Moreover, many of them looked quite similar and doesn't really stand out, none of them have some unique features like different colouring of hair or something which made it more difficult to remember. The story itself is actually quite enjoyable but my problem is that I don't particularly like how they drag on the story? The nervousness during the match is killing me. Moreover, the main character is... normal? and a bit on the annoying side. He is basically a meat head that is lucky I guess. In the first part of the story he…
