Mnemosyne has a cool and gritty depiction of immortality, which is largely its main focus. The show would've benefitted from exploring the concept a little deeper though, such as by showing how exactly being immortal has affected the main characters. While they are largely shown to be used to being in dangerous situations, and it's something they even seek for, the show still tends to abandon the main duo's stoicism with a pretty lenient hand, depending on the need for a feeling of high stakes. They don't talk about what life was like before being immortal, or what they like or dislike about immortality. It's not a necessary addition, but it would've made for a nice touch of relatability for the viewers.
The way large chunks of time pass inbetween episodes is refreshing and awesome, but I…

Rin: Daughters of Mnemosyne is a gorey, horny trip--a popcorn flick of an anime that I found myself thoroughly enjoying.
The animation is not good. 2000s nostalgia only gets you so far when the art direction is weak. Character design is meh, lighting is meh, environment design is meh--the art is very typical for the time period. Some of the fashion choices were also really hit or miss. OST is okay.
The best part of this show is Rin’s suit, and I’m not kidding. The vignette plot structure is at least interesting; the loosely-connected short stories spread over nearly a 100 years fit very well with an immortal protagonist. The characters themselves are fine---I love the agency Rin has, and her more mature personality. She moves through the world with a tired grace that I find extremely c…

It contains so much gore, sadistic things, mythical things, sexual things and confusing things. Theme kinda unique among common animes. But really too short, many things left unanswered and too many things doesnt get mentioned or mentioned superficial.
Its 6 episodes and I saw they made that to celebrate 10th anniversary or smtn. I think they wasted this story with that anniversary ova. It has so much potential and it could be something like evangelion(with that mythical refferences.)
There is not any annoying characters in this anime so u can watch without getting angry. But plot really confusing asf. Episodes doesnt ordered as chronological (like monogatari series), so u can search and watch it in chronological order. Doesnt matter much tho, maybe it would help a bit to understand the…

6.0/10 ~ Mess of a story but enjoyable to watch
Watching Rin in 2025 is kinda wild post 2020 Pandemic and seeing where the creators may think humanity might be in 20 or so years after the source material was being written. But most people who watch this are not really here for the story elements but are more then likely here for the Yuri, massive amounts of fan service, gore and overall edginess of it all.
Pros:
-The story was actually quite interesting
--even if it felt like someone went to make an Hentai but then realized that they had more fun writing a real story
-all the time skips were very enjoyable and a pretty unique way to portray how the MC's were immortal, watching the background cast age and the development of technology.
-the story did try atleast to make a narrative reas…

A disturbing but very interesting anime. I stumbled upon it looking for GL, but the synopsis made me interested. Needless to say this anime has barely anything to do with GL, but it's great nonetheless.
The story is just very interesting, can't say too much since I don't wanna spoil anything, but there's a lot more to it than you'd first think. However the storytelling falls short, the concept is really good but it could've been executed much better. The story slowly builds up then comes crashing down in the last 1-2 episodes. It also doesn't help that episode 4 adds little to no value to the main story.
Now the anime is full of nudity/gore/torture etc. and it even has a connection to the story, but it wasn't really necessary to include. It's written into the story just for the sake of i…

Although it has an interesting concept and unique mythology, the execution of the anime is poor. It's full of fan service that becomes intrusive, leaning into the eroguro genre about immortal masochists.
The visuals are inconsistent, and the action scenes are unexciting. The music doesn’t fit well with the atmosphere, making the story feel bland. As for the voice acting, it's fine, nothing too outstanding or memorable.
The story feels slow, the characters are flat, and the main character is underdeveloped, so when issues arise, viewers feel indifferent. The excessive fan service makes the anime feel silly and disrupts the flow of the plot.
Overall, the anime tries to be edgy but fails to deliver an engaging story. The end result is a boring anime.

Rin: Daughters of Mnemosyne, Is a Confusing review For me On One Hand I really Enjoyed The time skips in between each episode It suits a show that has a "Immortal" protagonist, following Rin(the Main character) feels satisfying as we watch the characters around her age, have children (many of whom become vital to the building narrative), and Eventually die . This Direction felt really unique and interesting it lead to the show feeling unpredictable and fresh. On The other Hand I did not enjoy how often the show' felt it necessary to overly sexualize character's and have several sex scenes/torture scenes per episode, while some scenes felt like they where adding to the narrative to show how depraved the antagonists of the story truly are Most scenes felt both unnecessary and often left a ba…

No spoilers - I watched all of this in one go with my roommate around 2009. I recently re-watched it and through the eyes of someone approaching 40, it's not quite the masterpiece I once believed it to be, but it's largely held up well with age and is still a fun watch. The music def feels dated, and there are instances of still backgrounds which are immersion breaking (those are still common today though).
It's very sexual, graphic, and gruesome, but plot armor does crop up more often than I'd like. There are elements of the show which remind me of Ghost in the Shell, Claymore, and even Cowboy Bebop, but those are passing nods at best. Mnemosyne stands on its own with a unique story which spans several decades, and the central characters are two immortal women who take odd jobs as private…

Mnemosyne: Mnemosyne no Musume-tachi is a captivating and unique anime that seamlessly blends supernatural, mystery, and action genres. With complex female protagonists, thrilling episodic cases, and a dark, gritty aesthetic, it offers a mature and thought-provoking viewing experience. The series pushes boundaries with elements of gore and sensuality, making it a standout for those who appreciate a more edgy and enigmatic anime. If you're looking for a series that challenges conventions and immerses you in a dark, supernatural world, "Mnemosyne" is a must-watch that will leave a lasting impression.
The only issue I had, was the ending. I feel like they could give us some more explanation and a sum up.
+1 point for the Polish vodka reference in the last episode :3

Main point: Bad, dumb plot, GREAT op and ed
I watched this a while back, I was using a word doc to make my anime list because I didn't really want to make an account here, I wrote, "stupid, dumb plot, no character development, completely flat characters, the only character I liked from the show died in like 2 episodes but he was a flat character as well" also I saw a guy on youtube who was talking about it and he was praising it but included dubbed clips which made it seem even worse. The only redeeming factor of the show is that the OP and ED were made by Galneryus. This made it a worthwhile watch because it was an introduction to their music. Galneryus is my favorite band; listen to their music. Btw they made Hunting For Your Dream from HunterxHunter, which I did not even realize, until…

I've been meaning to watch Mnemosyne for a while now. And it was exactly what I thought it would be. And more.
I'll start off by saying that almost every episode is a bit repetitive--from the alcoholic beverages that the characters' drink to certain phrases that characters say to the endless deaths. BUT I believe this is intentional; It's done in order to emphasize the pain and monotony of being immortal. That's one thing that the series does well. And I must say, the story overall is quite interesting. A seemingly unrelated series of events all lead up to something HUGE. If you're even remotely interested in philosophy or exploring the meaning of life, you'll like this series. Also, it's just as gorey and sexual as you heard it was. To some, it may be excessive but, for me, it was PERFE…

Watching this series for the first time and I can say I have seen enough edge to last me a looooong while. It's decent enough but man the sex scenes, people getting tied up and all the kinky shit going on, it starts to get grating after a point.
I get that it's an OVA and they tend to be much edgier than series due to not being on TV but this really pushed it. Not bad, and I normally tend to stay quiet on stuff I find decently enjoyable but this show really makes say this regarding "fan service" in anything if you are proud of how your character looks and you have someone that looks attractive in your movie or show, fine by me, I won't tell you what to do, but when you start shoving in how sexy they look every 5 - 10 minutes I am just going to be like, "I get the damn point already". It'…

Haiku review:
Lots of fan service
Even more for those who are
Fans of torture porn
Prose review for those less poetry minded:
Mnemosyne: Mnemosyne no Musume-tachi or “Rin: Daughters of Mnemosyne” is a child of the grim slice-of-death genre so popular in the mid-2000s. It is a step away from most other anime of that or any other era, though.
To begin with, the episodes are 45 minutes long, though there are only six of them, so it’s as much anime for your viewing hour as a normal 12-episode series. Its episode titles follow a pattern, as do many live-action detective series. Oh, yeah – this is a detective series, even after we think it isn’t anymore. Our titular (no pun intended) heroine is gritty and tough, though in the first episode the case she’s working is the recovery of a lost cat…

The score you see is not one I came to easily. The show is so incredibly great, as I loved the story, the symbolism, and the art, but there is one massive downside. The downside is this show was too horny. Let me explain. I’d be watching a great scene about how life is hard for immortals, then bam, tits out in your face. Though some might like it, I personally find animated porn gross and find the fan service annoying. It really was jarring the amount of sex that was in this show, it is to such a point where I considered dropping this to a 7, but I felt that one aspect can’t ruin the whole show. Besides that the 3 main high points were 1) the music. The soundtrack was very metal which fit the show perfectly! 2) The story its self was always entertaining, and kept me on the edge of my seat…

The first three episodes of Mnemosyne tell the story of an immortal detective, the last three episodes of Mnemosyne tell the story of a wanna be End of Evangelion. Mnemosyne's anime and light novel were both written by Hiroshi Oonogi, who wrote the script and light novel for RahXephon, this is why the anime is the way it is.
Mnemosyne is a very complex anime to review. I think if each individual episode were to be rated on their own, I would give them each a 7 or 8. The individual plot of each episode was very interesting, the characters were well written (for the most part), the animation was consistently good, and the ost serviced the series well. I very much enjoyed each episode of this anime, my problem is how poorly these episodes work as a whole series. Mnemosyne works as an episodi…

First, I think that, despite not being a masterpiece, it should score better. It presents the "yuri genre" in a very particular way because it does not stop having a very interesting theme and narrative line, in addition, it seems to me that it represents a middle point between "shoujo ai" and "yuri" (if that imaginary genre it has a name, let me know <3). I was struck by the projections about the future, very relevant to contemporaneity and its technologicalization. I was entertained by all the chapters, cases, details, animation, and futuristic artifacts.
Each chapter presents a series of challenges that invite you to think about their solution.
I also liked how certain mysteries are gradually being solved and some images, which at first may seem confusing, are gaining relevance and at…

I guess it's my 1st review here, so it will be short.
I have randomly picked it up after seeing some TikTok featuring a poster of the anime, then I randomly saw my screenshot while browsing photos and just started watching it, binged. It was a great surprise.
This is the anime of all anime. It has the most "anime" criteria of all the anime. Everything makes sense at first, but with every episode it gets crazier, but keeps making sense right until the end. The story (and it's craziness) and direction work are flawless. This is the most original and crazy and still making sense anime I've ever seen. It's a masterpiece, 10/10.

RAGE OVERDRIVE !!!
I usually love extreme anime but this is one of those cases where I was extremely enraged by it. This is basically a rape/torture hentai mixed with action/gore and a pseudo-serious story thrown in to fool the ignorant in believing there is actually some depth hidden amongst all those orgies. And as usual, most bit the lure without a second though.
Now let me clarify that the show is VERY good when it comes to sex and violence. There is lots of it, bold and well animated. On a superficial level Mnemosyne is far better than an average hentai (because most have bad production values) and far better than an action anime (because most have dull violence or lack sex). The main music theme also kicks serious ass and the main heroines are voiced by actresses that have a huge ro…

A horror anime combined with my favorite genres ( Shoujo Ai + Softcore Yuri ) with a lot of torturing, sex, naked people and other weird stuffs. This anime made me panic and gave me goosebumps throughout the series. At first I thought that this anime was just one of those old anime's from 2000's that have bad quality and trash story. But I was completely wrong.
Story : 8/10
Great story, although I don't really understand the final episodes and what it's trying to tell me.
Art : 8/10
A very good art for an anime in 2008. Sound : 8/10
Pretty good opening and ending. Sound effects, background musics, and others are also well fit within scenes.
Character : 8/10
Good characters...
Enjoyment : 8/10
I enjoyed this anime a lot, it made me feel the same old feeling of happiness and…

Mnemosyne no Musume-tachi, also known in English as Rin: Daughters of Mnemosyne, should have been a porn. Straight up! But for some odd reason it got made into an anime that just is WRITTEN like a hentai. Not to say that Rin isn't enjoyable at times.
○ Mnemosyne follows the story of two immortal, indestructible women who can only truly be killed by being banged and devoured by male angels. If that's not extremely convoluted, I don’t know what is.
○ Around the same time that I watched this series, I also absorbed a weird manga that also should have been a hentai called Tokyo Akazukin, in which a female Alucard, ahem, I mean little red riding hood wants her big bad wolf to devour her, so she sleeps with a bunch of old dudes? What? If you like Mnemosyne, you're sure to like Tokyo Akazukin…
