Vivy -Fluorite Eye's Song-

Introduction

When highly evolved AIs set out to eradicate mankind, the carnage that ensues fills the air with the stench of fresh blood and burning bodies. In a desperate bid to prevent the calamity from ever occurring, a scientist bets everything on a remnant from the past. Turning the clock back a hundred years, AIs are already an integral part of human society, programmed with specific missions meant to be carried out for their entire course of operation. Vivy, the first ever autonomous AI, is a songstress tasked with spreading happiness through her voice. In a theme park where she hardly ever gets a proper audience, she strives to pour her heart out into her performances, bound to repeat it day after day—that is, until an advanced AI from the future appears before her and enlists her help in stopping a devastating war a hundred years in the making. With no time to process the revelation that flips her world upside down, Vivy is catapulted into a century-long journey to avert the violent history yet to come. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Non-Spoiler Review: Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song Vivy is more relevant than ever with the rise of AI and the push toward AGI. I work in semiconductor R&D for advanced packaging, so I found it intriguing on a technical level too. Overview: Vivy, an AI, and her sidekick Matsumoto travel through time to stop a war between humans and AI, kind of like Terminator. Along the way they meet other interesting AI characters, all while dealing with an anti-AI terrorist group. Characters: The standout for me was Matsumoto, whose strong personality stole the show from Vivy. Vivy is cute and does have some character progression, but it gets stifled at points. I won't get into why, to avoid spoilers. Art Style: My favorite part was the still shots of the AIs. There were many, across lots of different cha…

Only 13 episodes long yet took me almost 2 years to finish because of how harshly it falls off a cliff halfway through. The last 4 episodes in particular are some of the most shallow writing paired with some excruciatingly lazy voice acting in both the Japanese and English dubs. How is this the same studio that gave us the first three seasons of Attack on Titan? The animation here never comes even somewhat close to the mastery the studio put on display then. Bad pacing, boring sidequests that yield almost nothing to plot or character development, and one-note characters with barely any screentime that we're somehow supposed to care for. Don't even get me started on how absurdly annoying Matsumoto is. What felt like an extremely promising miniseries crumbled into total wasted potential. The…

A relatively fun, but short anime. Perhaps too short, given the time stretch it covers in just 13 episodes, which makes it very fast paced. Some people argue that this is exactly what kept their attention while watching, but for me, it actually did the opposite and I found it difficult to convince myself to watch the next episode. The constant yapping of Matsumoto makes it hard to keep track of the information flow, while I also found his voice awfully annoying. I can see the intention of introducing a character with a persona contrasting the serene nature of Vivy, but this also resulted in him getting a screen time way over of what wouldn't have made me dislike him. What's interesting is the intermittent narration strategy, being a major feature of the plot itself, since the contents of…

Vivy is a series that reached for greatness and fell like Icarus—bold, but lacking the rigor to fulfill its ambition. The story explores a complex existential conflict, questioning what truly makes us human while searching for the elusive line between simulation and genuine consciousness. There are no definitive answers to that question, but the implications of asking it expose the fragile seams of an imperfect society. The animation is outstanding, and the fight choreography is nothing short of spectacular. Every confrontation feels exhilarating thanks to dynamic cinematography and relentless pacing. The soundtrack is equally exceptional, serving as a vital narrative tool that arrives with perfect timing to elevate tragic, dramatic, and intimate moments alike. Spanning roughly a centur…

Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song is a fairly quick and speedy sci-fi show that is able to produce emotions that some show's can't in double its runtime. It manages to make you care about people that are not around for very long but can related to at least on a fundamental level in some way. This show's greatest strength is definitely its ability to emotionally invest you into the characters you meet and the dire situations they find themselves in. Vivy is semi-episodic in nature, mainly because the individual stories (or mini-arcs) do connect to the overall story but do not fully connect to each other save for the common element of them, the main character Vivy. Vivy is someone who starts as being quite flat and impersonal but grows more "human" over time, which was nice to see develop. Every ar…

(Originally written on 2025/05/04, one day after I finished watching this title) (Actual score - 9.5/10) Overall, it was a very, very enjoyable experience that came close to being flawless - just held back a bit by animation-related problems. ARTSTYLE - Very good; despite technically being just a slight variation of the standard "painting-like" approach, with some parts looking smoother than usual, it fit very well with the world of this anime, from environments, to character designs. The color palette was varied and vibrant, but nothing excessive. - However, it was not the only style used - the other one was very different, with more "hyper-realistic" and sharper presentation, and it was usually used for some scenes with close-ups of character faces. - I think it actually created a…

[EN/PT-BR] [EN] If we gave a robot feelings, consciousness, and a soul, how could we differentiate it from a human? Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song is an anime about an artificial intelligence called Diva—an AI programmed with the sole mission of bringing happiness to humans through her music, which adopts the name "Vivy" during singularity project—who is tasked by another artificial intelligence (Matsumoto) from the future to prevent a war between AIs and humans that would break out in 100 years. Although it features "time travel" as one of its themes, it is treated in a different way than usual; instead of the characters traveling directly through time, the "journey" is made through the passage of years, returning whenever a crucial event for the war is near. This way of approaching time tra…

A beautiful song sung by an AI that yearns to make humanity smile. This series brings the audience to ask many questions about AI that others may of not considered: If an AI is programmed to nurse you, and derives pleasure from it despite it programmed to, then who's to say those feelings arent genuine? If memory is a record, and an AI has a record of all it's data, then does the AI have a sense of self constructed from the data, like a human with their own memories? If these records (or memories) are always with them, will these records remain despite being overwritten? Watching Vivy was an interesting experience -- I was very skeptical about 3 episodes in, wondering if I'd be able to follow the story. Since it only has 13 episodes, the show tends to utilize every second of it and the…

She really is THE one and only diva!!! I honestly didn't have much expectations going into it. Didn't even know what it is about, just that the animation is great. A few hours later and I finished it all in one breath. That says it all. Aside from undeniably incredible animation and design, the genius behind it is that it perfectly combines your typical music anime with some PEAK action and don't even make me mention the heart wrenching scenes and overall themes of the story. I had some slight issues pacing wise and also I think it should've been longer, considering some parts felt a bit rushed, but it was nothing that would take me away of the story. I was also a bit hesitant since music animes are not my cup of tea but in this case it was done in a tasteful manner where there was a p…

This is one of the highly rated series on MAL, so my expectations were quite high. And it delivered… but only in terms of visuals and sound. The show raises a big question: “Can an AI act out of love rather than just following commands?” It’s a very interesting theme, but the way the anime conveys it is truly questionable. Vivy simply uses its visuals and music to mask its completely “empty” narrative. The series constantly tells us, “AI sings for humans, AI can have emotions,” yet it rarely lets the audience actually feel these things. The protagonist is built as an AI learning to love, but throughout almost the entire show, she is “emotionally paralyzed.” This is a basic flaw in “show, don’t tell”, the series keeps telling us things but shows very little. The 100 years journey sounds g…

One of the most profound questions for humanity is, "Why are we born?" This anime reinterprets that question from a different perspective: "AI." The AI has a clear purpose for which it was created, yet it runs into a problem that makes us wonder. If we knew why we were born, would our problems simply end there? ...In any case, this anime tries to find the answer to that, and it's a truly beautiful story. I wouldn't say it's the absolute best, as the plot and sci-fi concept aren't that different from other works. However, what truly stands out is the characters' perspectives and the way the story is told. The pacing is exceptionally well-done. We get to see the emotions and thought processes of the main and supporting characters. Even some characters who appear for only a few minutes are…

Vivy: fluorite eye's song quite honestly is the best android anime ever made. forget plastic memories or saber marionette J, this is the true deal. this is one of those rare anime which tells its story in not over the span of a month but over the course of a hundred years. we get to see how time passes for the main character and the changes the world goes through. Artwork: the drawing style is fantastic and the CGI elements really drive the Sci fi aesthetic home. Story: 10/10 this anime has a unique concept not explored before in other anime's this is very well what our reality could look like in the coming decades the protagonist being the first realistic humanoid android which scientist today are coming close to perfecting. the story takes place not just on land but in space as well it…

**Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song** is a hauntingly beautiful exploration of AI sentience and existential purpose. Set in a future where AI rebellion looms, the story follows Vivy, a singing android programmed to "bring happiness through song," as she navigates conflicting directives and discovers her own humanity. With stunning visuals by Wit Studio and a powerhouse score by Hiroyuki Sawano, the series masterfully balances action and introspection. Vivy's journey to understand "heart"—through loss, sacrifice, and the power of music—transcends genre, delivering a poignant meditation on identity and empathy. While some pacing issues exist, the emotional payoff is profound, solidifying its place as a standout original anime. A must-watch for fans of **Blade Runner** or **Ghost in the Shell**, this…

Let me make something clear right off the bat: Vivy is not just good. Vivy is transcendent. This is that rare sci-fi anime that actually dares to do something different and sticks the landing, and I cannot stress enough how hard that is. This show came out of nowhere, hit like a truck emotionally, and by the time it was over, I was just sitting there—staring at the credits, dead silent, because what the hell did I just witness? From the jump, it tells you exactly what it is. A beautiful android singer designed only to bring smiles to people through song is suddenly thrust into a 100-year war against AI gone rogue. Not because she wants to save the world. Not because she’s some chosen one. But because she’s there. Because she’s the only one who might be able to rewrite fate. That premise a…

Vivy - the worst anime I ever saw. Not because of the visuals, they were stunning. Not because of the music, it was ok. Not because of the plot .. well a bit maybe, it was fast and had enough twist to be interesting. but the characters.. mainly, the main one - Vivy just a shell of a being no personality whatsoever she wants to save - oh, pardon me "make everyone happy by singing them a song from her heart" ugh just the definition of people pleasing. How is it with people pleasing? it is ok as long as you make sure you are one of those people. She is not. She lets Matsumoto tear away her arm when she is trying to save a girl. She has absolutely no other personality trait except for "make everyone happy by singing them a song from her heart" She is not even interested herself in singing,…

mal requires me to make incredibly concise reviews so i guess i will write one 1. beautiful thank you wit studio - classic "makeup department" scenes littered throughout which made spotting all the cool scenes and grabbing your attention for them really exciting - like "oh they put excessive detail on her glistening hair this scene so we should pay attention guys" 2. thanks for making me worry about ai and the future - also very tried and true "will AIs take over the future" question and concept and detailed the dilemma very well; will there ever be a life where AI and humanity can coexist? though some parts of the technology like time travel gave me more questions than answers 3. i shut my brain off so i enjoyed it - some of the fight scenes weren't very interesting but they were pretty…

My rating 8/10 here's why. They got the GENRE wrong for this anime. I put this on the back burner for years because Crunchyroll has the genre as music, drama, and sci-fi with a summary that made it sound like she's going on a journey singing music and making people happy. This couldn't be farther from the truth. The anime is Sci fi, action, adventure, mystery, and then music. I'm going to start this review off with who this is not for. 1) People who think anime should be logical...you're watching a cartoon based on unrealistic fiction, that's what most anime is anyways. Frankly speaking you are being illogical with a preconception that anime should be logical 2) people who like to pick a part problems with a story. I can pick a part every single anime and tell you there is a plot hole…

I was cautiously optimistic upon deciding to watch this anime, considering that this one shares both its creator and main premise with my unquestionable most despised anime. Indeed, I hate Re:Zero with a burning passion for myriad reasons that are too complicated to describe now, but its overall premise of traveling back in time to change the future isn't inherently one of those, and I'm willing to give things a second chance. Fortunately, Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song was far more enjoyable, but with a few glaring flaws (some shared with Re:Zero) that ultimately mar the full experience. Suspension of disbelief is the key here. The more seriously that an anime presents itself, the lower my tolerance for issues in plot and worldbuilding. Said issues aggregate to form Vivy's greatest flaw: the…
