Mobile Suit Gundam SEED

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED

Introduction

In the year Cosmic Era 0071, the space colony Heliopolis remains neutral in the great war raging across the galaxy between Coordinators, human beings whose biological traits have been altered before birth, and Naturals, unaltered people who remain on the planet Earth. The Naturals' deep hatred of the Coordinators drove the advanced beings into space, seeking shelter in man-made colonies. Kira Yamato is a Coordinator and university student on Heliopolis, when his life is thrown into disarray as ZAFT, the military organization composed of rebellious Coordinators, attacks the colony in an effort to steal a set of five state-of-the-art military mobile suits known as Gundams. While ZAFT manages to make off with four of the mobile suits, Kira take control of the final Gundam, the Strike. Surviving the battle, Kira and his college friends join the crew of the Archangel, a ship run by the Earth Alliance, and the young soldiers experience the horrors of war and the loss that comes with it. Peak Gundam!!! This mecha masterpiece does so many things right that puts it way above similar anime, with an amazing story and visuals that captivated me at every moment. It had me on the edge of my seat during the battles, and literally brought me to tears during their tragic conclusions. SEED is a story about the unexpected twists and turns of war and about the complex reasons people fight each other. Every side in the war is given a ton of depth and personal connection, with constantly shifting allegiances that blur the lines between enemy and friend. Through top notch execution, SEED tells a thought provoking story about the true nature of conflict. The mecha action is amazing, featuring combined arms including a diverse range of infantry, vehicles, spaceships, and (eventually) super…

For years, people had talked badly about this series to me, and had said it was one of the worst Gundams ever… Watching it on my own proved how irrelevant most of those comments were, as this is currently my favorite Gundams series (and I have seen quite a few). Last night I officially finished Gundam SEED… and oh yeah, this series was absolutely incredible. I started it a couple months ago without realizing how invested I was going to become. I knew I was gonna be into the suits cuz I remember them from the Gundam video games, but by the end I felt like I had gone through an entire war alongside these characters. By the time I reached the end of episode 50… What impressed me heavily is how genuine the characters feel. They panic, get jealous, lash out, say things they cannot take back…

One out of many option where you should start watching Gundam series. My recommendation you shouldn't begin here... There is no Sci-fi romance here, more action, stupidity, also too much simplified politic... Most of you who watch cannot engage or loved old other series of GUNDAM after this, because you begin with a stupidity... Your brain will decline all the goodness in old the gundam story series... Good luck. The art are keep repeating in original animation, I suggest you watch the remake... Story are simple like to point A to B.. and most of the MS and MA are copy paste from the original, the originality are only in the system and the three form of the MS version. Gundam is good looking, making you want to create the model itself, Character good looking... Overall I cannot bring m…

Overview: In 1979, the mecha anime genre as people had come to know it was changed forever, with "Mobile Suit Gundam" blending robot fights with military science-fiction to make a more grounded version of the genre. This spawned a franchise which is still going strong even nearly half a century later. "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED", originally released in the early 2000s, is the ninth installment in this long-running franchise, as well as my first experience with it, and while it does have plenty of flaws, overall I would definitely consider it a worthy entry to start with. Story & World (8/10): "Gundam SEED" is set in the distant future, in a time where humanity as a whole has been separated into two sub-species; the genetically enhanced Coordinators and the completely ordinary Naturals. Of c…

It's a reconstruction of 0079. And I particularly like it better. Seed was a recommendation if a great friend "if you are a penciller, and like robots, you should watch". I saw. And I loved it. Seed is based, yes, on 0079, he is 0079 redone and retold, but obviously updated. Romance, context, battles, everything is based on 0079, but the way they told it in Seed made me really, really happy. The character designer has a unique style, the whole character design is fantastic. And this is me talking about the characters. As for the Gundam, that goes hand in hand! Seed's mecha design, for me, (and being honest as a penciller), it's SENSATIONAL! The script makes all the characters grow, and it gave me an eternal shipp, from Murrue with (I will avoid the spoiler). Go watch! Seed is one of t…

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED got a pretty bad reputation because of its logic-bending super overpowered protagonist and its cheap, low budget copy-paste animations. I was actually pretty reluctant to watch this at first upon seeing the reviews, but after hearing enough music from this show, I cannot bottle it up anymore, until I finally decided to watch it. STORY - The story follows the conflict between the alliance (humans) and ZAFT (Coordinators) and the protagonist, Kira Yamato, as he gets caught up in this conflict. If you're a long time Gundam fan, or if you have already watched Gundam 0079, then you'll notice that this show took a lot of reference from it. In fact, it is a rehash of the '79 show. It isn't necessarily a bad thing, as it takes those concepts and puts modern tropes and ster…

Holy. Shit. Believe me when I say that Gundam SEED is possibly the worst anime I have ever seen. This show was absolutely appalling from start to finish, and I honestly can't believe I sat through it. I can't believe something like this was even created. It's so incredibly bad I'm not even sure where to begin with it. I am a massive Gundam fanboy. Particularly for UC. As much as I love UC Gundam, I've always had a bit of a hard time getting into most of the non-UC stuff. Everybody adores Gundam 00, but I couldn't get into it. Gundam SEED seemed pretty well-liked, and I wasn't really expecting anything from this show, but holy crap, this is absolutely fucking abysmal in every single way. For one, the whole concept of this show is basically just the original Gundam series from 1979. A colo…

This is one of my favourite Gundam series. It's also worth noting that I have a fair amount of nostalgia for this show and have a positive bias as a result. What stands out most to me about SEED from all other Gundam series is the character drama being much more prevalent, this brings so much more emotion to the show and makes the cast of characters so much richer than any other anime I've ever seen. I love the character dynamics between characters like Kira and Athrun as well as Mu La Flaga and Rau Le Creuset so much I feel I have to mention them specifically. Of course the war aspect delivers, this show can be absolutely brutal and depressing in its portrayal of war, I love it. I also love the parallels this show makes to previous Gundam series while still deeling completely different;…

Good wasn't a waste of my time - The art for its time is good and of course, outdated considering the year that it was released. Plus for some fight scenes, it is noticeable that they reuse scenes to save money but it didn't get in the way. - I think the soundtrack was very good! You have your upbeat songs and opera-like songs. It reminded me of the music from Evangelion. - I think Characters were another strong point. Although for some characters, it felt like they were cookie-cutter characters. I enjoyed the TRIO, especially Kira. In this show, at first, Kira is like Shinji from EVA. A scared little pussy with no development. But then he grows balls of steel. He basically becomes Mr. Steal your Girl. - The story is a little basic, basically you have 3 factions. Good guys and bad guys…

This is definitely my favorite gundam anime of all time... mainly because Kira Yamato is my favorite anime character of all time as well. I love his character development and all of the things he went through in order to fully realize what he really wants to do with his life and what he has to offer. His gundam Freedom just fits perfectly with his character. Only when you look deep within yourself will you find true freedom. I've learned so much from this show. It has a lot of heart and you can feel all the passion put into it. It's a show about war, but it's delivered in a very heartfelt way. It has a great uplifting message. Heck, I don't even know how many times I've rewatched this but I've grown so close to the main characters, and even the side characters are very memorable to me, too…

The first Gundam in the 21st century was a huge success in Japan. Melodrama is what SEED runs on, and the music accompanying it is stellar. If the thrill of romance triangles and soap drama is what you’re after it’s going to be an enjoyable ride. Substantially outside of music, however it’s awful. It is one of the first Gundam shows that I have only found one thing that I’ve liked about it. The story and characters are put on the backseat for forced melodrama, the animation is reusing stock footage to an unbelievable level and the execution of it’s premise is utter garbage. As said earlier, the main draw of Mobile Suit Gundam: SEED is the melodrama. It is a main factor for everything that happens and it makes the story and characters suffer for it. There’s a difference between characters…

(TLDR at the bottom, thanks for reading.) Gundam seed sets out to be a modern retelling of original gundam. Not a remake but a re-imagining, gundam seed changes plenty of things from the original gundam story, usually for the worse. This is the first problem with seed is constantly calling back to a previous story and following the structure of being a re-imagining and not it's own story. It ends up being a story we have already seen. The first half of the series is a slog to sit through with the overall pacing of the show stretched out to absurd lengths making it extremely boring to sit through. The worse thing is that these are some of the better episodes of the series. There is a certain point in the anime where Kira "Jesus" Yamato acquires the freedom gundam. Before this gundam seed…

Often times, when someone mentions Gundam SEED many feelings arise. Hatred. Disgust. Dislike. Disappointment. Generally, people strongly dislike this series. Common complaints are that it is too melodramatic, that the MC is a "Gary stu", that there are numerous plot holes and contrivances. But, at the core of Gundam SEED, is there a story worth telling? Is there more to this anime than its flaws and failures? After watching the show twice, I am of the mind that Gundam SEED receives far more hate than it deserves. I may get flak for this, but I think that Gundam SEED is more than the sum of its parts. Although it may be critically flawed in many respects, I believe that there is a powerful yet simple narrative told effectively that pays respect to the Gundam Franchise. Let's dive in. Gunda…

I originally didn't plan to watch SEED but it's HD remaster made me give it a try and the mecha designs made me continue it past first ep which ended me being involved with the huge cast. Story 6/10 Just like any other Gundam series, SEED also follows the story of some teenagers having extraordinary abilities to pilot a mobile suit. But this time the pilots with exceptional piloting skills are Coordinators; human beings whose biological traits have been altered before birth. The Coordinators shelter themselves in man-made space colonies because the hatred received from the Naturals the unaltered people. As the war continues both sides get tired of it and take extreme measures in trying to stop it having the cast play along in this quest of bloodshed. Art and Animation 7/10 The character…

I find this show to be incredibly boring. The character development and storyline are both lacking. I've watched Iron-Blooded Orphans and Mobile Suit Gundam 00, both of which were great, but this show falls short. I could go on and on about how bad it is. I suggest checking out the other two shows I mentioned because they are great and won't leave you disappointed like this one did. However, I must say that I loved Gundam. It was one of the highlights of my Anime Marathon. I've seen other Gundam series before, but none of them had the same impact on me as this one did. The show tackles tough themes like friendship, war, and loss, and the intense conflicts make it a great series. The only drawbacks are the sometimes shallow characters and slow mid-series plot. If you're looking for gian…

I do not consider myself a fanboy of anything and have a watched quite a variety of animes in the last 30 years. And I will say that I think Gundam Seed is as close to a 10/10 as you can get. It is a story about 2 boys that grew up as friends, then got separated by a war only to meet again on opposite sides, now having to fight each other. The main characters are equally likable and the tension between the 2 works really well throughout the show. The romantic relationships in the show work equally well and help to balance the many fight scenes. I believe that the husband & wife team that directed the show made the show as good as it is. Hard and Soft aspects make for a well balanced mecha anime. And I do also appreciate that the tone is serious and that silly comedy does not distract from…

[2nd Edit] Gundam Seed it's not what it looks like at first glance. When you look at Seed, you see what? Well, you see a shonen (teen) looking Gundam, right? Well, it sort of is, but this will fool you. Gundam Seed is a great Gundam series, with one of the best plots out there. See my review below, so you can decide for yourself. I try to look beyond the obvious, so I have some things to say. Story: This is the most shonen of all Gundam, but it will not affect the story. As all shonen series, Seed will sometimes focus on some relationship drama, but they all make sense! Without spoiling the series, you will see some classic dramas, but they all have a crucial setting that will affect the story. Additionally, this drama makes sense in the context of war, death, and hate towards people. Som…

Out of all the Alternative Gundam Timelines, the Cosmic Era is seemed to the one to get the most hate from hardcore Gundam fans. The negative feedback was so strong that many people especially hardcore Gundam fans call this the joke timeline. When I just finished the Build Fighters series as well Wing I decided to check out Gundam Seed and I originally watched it just to see how bad it was however once I was done with Gundam Seed and Gundam Seed Destiny I quickly came to a conclusion that while the Cosmic Era is indeed a pretty bad compared to the other timelines, however, I don’t think that Gundam Seed Season 1 is as bad as everyone says it is. Don’t get me wrong Gundam Season 1 is still an average show that has a lot of mediocre to subpar moments but I don’t think it’s as a bad as someth…

Mobile suit gundam seed is actually my first gundam show. After hearing so much about gundam and it's universe, I thought it's about time I got into it. I decided to start with gundam seed because it's detatched from the rest of the gundam universe and can standalone. This is very true as I didn't need much background information walking into this show, and I wasn't really confused at any point. If you want to start here, you very well can. STORY 7/10 Gundam seed revolves around the earth forces fighting off an evil space organization named ZAFT for reasons that would spoil a really great plot point and aren't revealed until much later. Yound Kira Yamato is more or less thrown into piloting a gundam mech and fighting in this war. He must protect himself, his friends and his planet from so…

Gundam SEED was the first Gundam anime that I watched during high school and it got me into the Gundam franchise. I would always stay up late to watch it on Cartoon Network and I adored it back then, but now that I've matured more I see the hate for this show which I didn't honestly see back then. Story Gundam SEED is set in the future where humanity has reached the space age and genetic modifications, which the latter leads to a hated war between the Naturals (natural born people) on Earth and Coordinators (modified born people) in space colonies known as PLANTs. To put a stop to the war, Kira Yamato, a Coordinator living in a Neutral Colony has to join with Naturals on a warship to fight his own kind while he has to fight a childhood friend along the way. This seems like an interesting…
