Ookami Shoujo to Kuro Ouji (Wolf Girl and Black Prince) is the definition of a mixed-bag shoujo that leaves you with intensely conflicted feelings by the time the credits roll.
For roughly the first six to seven episodes, the dynamic between Kyouya and Erika is genuinely painful to watch. The male lead doesn’t just act cold; he actively degrades Erika, treating her virtually like an obedient dog or personal servant. What makes this opening stretch particularly sour is the uncomfortable undertone of objectification: the narrative almost frames Erika's willingness to endure relentless verbal abuse as borderline masochistic, making it difficult to understand why she falls deeper in love with someone who humiliates her at every turn.
The turning point arrives around episode 7. When an acquai…

Wolf Girl and Black Prince (Ookami Shoujo to Kuro Ouji) is about a high school girl named Erika who lies to her friends about having a boyfriend and asks a handsome schoolmate named Kyouya to pretend to be him. Kyouya agrees, but only if Erika acts like his obedient "dog." Instead of a funny or sweet romance, the anime is frustrating because Kyouya is cruel and bossy toward Erika, while Erika lets him treat her terribly just to keep up her lie. Their relationship is full of mean behavior and lacks genuine care or respect, making it hard to watch or enjoy.

I don't know how it was possible that I decided to watch something like this, honestly it wasn't that bad.
The series can be charming [this series is actually cute in general in a normal way, not in the way that it constantly ecchi moments, of which there are relatively few here] and truly aborbing at times.
The plot is completely thin, which I deeply regret, the main characters seem to be undeveloped (there is very little about Sata and Erika's hobbys, beliefs, memories).
The relationship between the two main characters is absurdly toxic, it gradually improves but there is no healthy love conclusion in my opinion after all.
On the plus side, the side characters are definitely cool, only some are annoying, but many are well written, especially San and Hateru (the best wingman of all…

Another super cute flakey series finished within 2 days!! It's one of those shoujo romance series where you stop for a few minutes to just enjoy the scene and crave for your single life!😐😭Even though I tend to enjoy slow burn romance more, but this was exceptional, haha. Their romance was so admirable and daydreaming, it was also quite realistic even though it could be cliche sometimes. I understand it was cringe at some point, but it lowkey worked on me cuz it triggered my humor somehow, lmao. Alright, enough yapping...I JUST LOVE THIS, DEFO NEED MORE SERIES LIKE THIS!!

This anime was good—better than I expected. Even though the beginning wasn’t that strong, the ending was great and satisfying. After episode 7, it turned into a pure and beautiful romance, and I liked it a lot. I would recommend it to others; it’s really good.
If you're looking for a story where a red flag turns into a green flag, this anime is for you. In my opinion, it's a great watch.
Overall this anime is full of Romantic Tensions and Fun. How the Main charachter describe his love to Girl.
The animation was Good too. Not much higher quality animations but it was good anime. If you're interested in Storyline and Romance so you can watch it. Animation was good not like Bad or Decent type anything.

I don't usually write bad reviews, but this anime forced me to. It's honestly one of the most frustrating and horrible anime I've ever watched.Let's start with the main character, Erika - and yes, the problems begin
with her. Then comes the male lead, Kyouya, who might just be the trashiest, most disrespectful love interest I've ever seen in anime.
I actually LOVE ❤️❤️the "bad boy x good girl" trope - when it's done right. But this anime completely ruined it.
Erika has zero self-respect. She pretends to have a boyfriend just to fit in with her toxic classmates (like seriously, girl??), and when Kyouya agrees to be her fake boyfriend, his condition is that she has to act like his DOG. Yes,Literally.Q And she just... accepts it?? Not just that - she embraces it! Instead of standing up for he…

Can we please stop romanticizing abusive relationships?
Those of us with a healthy mindset are tired of seeing them in books and shows. We know exactly what kind of living hell these dynamics create in real life and for some women, these cycles can end in DEATH.
The toxic jealousy, the constant disrespect, the manipulation and emotional devaluation — none of this is romantic. Reading the news is enough to understand how dangerous these patterns are.
I’m tired of seeing this behavior framed as “sadistic but passionate” on his part and “deeply loving” on hers. The male lead isn’t some dark romantic hero — he’s a narcissist with serious psychological issues. And the female lead? She’s not “devoted,” she’s mentally unwell, dishonest, and clearly in need of therapy. They both are.
Honestly, t…

It was a nice anime, and I loved watching it. I never once really felt frustrated watching it but felt bad for her instead. It's weird to say that I cried watching it because I could understand the emotions of the FL. The desperation of loving someone, the betrayal, the sadness, the happiness, and the toxic relationship. I could feel it and relate to it all. True the ML was a jerk sometimes but I understood his love language at the end. It kind of reminded me of Horimiya. I was really satisfied with adding kiss scenes. Some might get annoyed watching it. If you are more accepting of opinions about love, you'll probably like it. It has a typical romance background storyline

Our protagonist, Erika Shinohara, lies about having a boyfriend in order to posture in front of her new high school friends. When confronted about the identity of her mystery beau, she shows them a picture of a random guy she photographed on the street. As it turns out, his name is Kyouya Sata and not only does he go to their school, but is even in the same year as them. To make matters even worse, this dude is something of a local idol. Desperate, Erika comes clean to Kyouya and pleads with him to play along. What happens next? Watch to find out.
It's a cutesy slice of life rom-com. The good? It doesn't bend to most cliché expectations. It's not a revolutionary show in any sense of the word, but considering that I am personally quite jaded when it comes to the clichés of both the slice o…

I really enjoyed the anime! I loved the ending especially with kyoya looking at erika with the same eyes he had holding a puppy in earlier episodes. Erika’s lies were annoying at the start but it shows her growth and how her relationship with Kyoya changed her. It teaches you that even though she tried hard to fit in in school, it wasn’t because of her lies but because of her genuine personality that allowed her friends to stick with her (her friends also changed because of her, as the topics they would discuss at the beginning BDSM sexual stuff, was not the topics of their conversations now). Kyoya went from a complete and cold sadist with a guarded heart
to someone who could care and protect someone he loved, erika and do things out of his own comfort zone to make her happy. Although 100…

Note: This anime may not be for everyone. It is understandable. If you prefer sadistic and masochistic plot or just want to relaxation and watch a plot for entertainment without caring about toxicity then it is for you.
This anime is definitely different because many romance anime are more wholesome. This one is unique in its own way, and this is not the only anime to portrayed these types of toxicity in a relationship. Anyway, we have both a sadistic and masochistic characters in a relationship. There are moments where audiences are upset with while there is moment where it is wholesome in a way. In the beginning, it is difficult to watch because of one of the characters get treat horribly. There is a reason for this negative behavior. Almost drop this anime to be honest but decided to…

This anime can be tough to watch at first because the guy is seriously toxic, and the relationship starts off in a pretty unhealthy way. But honestly, it feels pretty real. A lot of teenagers don’t really know how to put themselves first or say no, and that’s exactly what these characters go through. They’re immature at first but eventually learn to speak up and ask for what they deserve, which I thought was kind of cool.
What’s interesting is how it shows that confusing “first love” feeling — liking someone who doesn’t really love you back but keeps giving you little signs that maybe you’re special. Over just a few episodes, most of the toxic stuff fades, and things get way sweeter and more wholesome. The characters actually grow and start working on their relationship in a healthy way.…

Honestly, don't waste your time watching this shit. It's absolutely trash. Both the MCs are just annoying as hell. The portrayal of both the MCs is lain pathetic. Erika is shown as a girl who has no shame and is fine with constantly being verbally and emotionally abused by kyoya. You have to an absolute masochist to love this show. It's definitely not everybody's cup of tea.
They tried to show that everything Kyoya does, how he treats Erika, has a much deeper meaning behind it and he's not really the bad guy here, but at the end of the day, he's just a sadist who likes hurting people for pleasure. Erika has no self-respect and keeps on getting her heart broken by kyoka and yet returns to him as nothing happened. I failed to see the comedic aspect of the show. Maybe Erika returning back t…

I watched this a few years ago when i was younger and really enjoyed it but watching it again made me question my own taste.
Sata Kyoya is such a shitty character. He expects Shinohara Erika just to put up with his toxic mentality because she is indebted to him?? wtf and apparently falls for her, but still behaves almost the same??
First of all, Erika needs tp be more confident. I get that teenagers are self conscious and wanna fit in but this anime is literally portraying that lying to people so that you can fit in with them is good because the lie will eventually turn into the truth. Idk, maybe its because it's an anime.
I honestly hate romance anime where the FL doesn't have a strong will of her own.
And even if she doesn't, yk, the author could really put some sense into them. for…

Let me say that I really despised the first few episodes. Kyouya was a complete jerk, and Erika was so desperate for love, she was embarrassing. In the first episode alone, I had to pause and screen 3-5 times. She was also willing to do anything for Kyouya.
But considering the fact that both of them had never experienced love, things of course were going to get messy. It wasn't up until later in the series I began enjoying it. The characters got a great development, and it was enjoyable. The author did a great job making me empathise with the characters and also make me hate them. I think the first few episodes were hard to watch, but the end makes up for it. I'm glad it's not one of those romance anime where the main couple end up together at the last episode.
If you don't feel embarras…

People like to hate this anime because the lead guy isnt very nice and the girl a bit annoying but I dont watch anime to learn moral lessons I watch them to enjoy myself and this anime entertained me from start to finish.
I've rewatched it several times and I recommend it to anyone who has the same sense of humor as I do and/or likes anime couples where they bicker and what not [i cant even imagine how audiences these days would react to bulma and vegeta if they cant handle this anime]
Is the main couple what you'd call a healthy relationship? Nah. but its dramatic and fun and romance anime isnt meant to be aspirational for your own relationship.Theres a lot of your standard cliches but thats the genre for you and whether or not you think he changes enough is gonna be subjective but this…

It's not thaaaat bad. I started watching it because I ran out of good anime I guess? :-?
I always wonder why some mangas get an anime adaptation and some don't. There are so many good shoujo mangas out there that will never get an anime adaptation and it's just too sad.
I haven't read the manga but this anime was not that bad. It made me laugh a bit and it was easy to watch. There are no likable characters though and I can't say I cared for anyone in particular. The most nice and honest person was San-chan (Erika's friend). And I liked Kusanabe-kun too. Erika is not a bad girl but I didn't like her personality that much because she was a liar who never learns.
Sata is not my type of male character. Even though I understood it was hard for him to show his true feelings, there's no excuse f…

Average, unpopular, air head with the back bone of a wet noodle, meets asshole op hottie with the personality of a breadstick. A review comparing Maid sama to BPWG lead me to stick out the painful emotional abuse and stupidity of the main girl, just to see if it eventually got better.
I enjoyed the character growth, it made up for their horrible personalities in the beginning. I really didn't enjoy that there isn't enough story explaining why they even like each other.
Overall, I didn't hate it as much as I thought I would. Would never read the manga.

Okay before judging my rating, HEAR ME OUT.
At the beginning of the anime, Kyoto and Erika's relationship seems really toxic and messed up and it is. Kyoya acts like some sick guy and Erika goes along with it like it's the most normal thing in the world. And she does it just so she can be apart of the friend group (which is a problem in its own, but I'll talk about that later). BUT the anime doesn't make their relationship seem "normal", her friend San calls her a masochist and literally calls her out for her and Kyoya's relationship MANY times.
The friend group is just plain stupid. It's just 3 girls bragging about their boyfriends, trying to outcompete one another. I honestly don't even think they're legitimate friends. San is also annoying in the sense that she literally doesn't care…

I had a genuine blast watching this and felt so empty when it ended! Binged it all in one day -- laughed, cringed, and gasped through the entire plot. It's honestly such fun! Yes, there are a lot of "issues" with certain characters and the way they treat each other, but this is fiction and I don't think we should necessarily go out into the real world and replicate their love or something, but that doesn't mean it wasn't super entertaining to watch.
The romance was so realistic and well-developed, and not rushed at all. I think if you love a relationship that develops halfway through, and not at the last minute, you'll enjoy this show. I'm not huge on romance anime, but this was enjoyable from start to finish. There are hilarious scenes too and parts where you really just want to cringe…
