Wear headphones for the best experience. This anime was life-changing. The rain sounds are practically ASMR with headphones, and the sound effects are by far the best out of any anime I've ever seen. They use music as an amazing element to create an emotional catharsis near the climax. The visuals are stunning, and the only thing that I could see someone argue against is the plot. I personally preferred this linear and understandable plot to Your Name, despite both plots showing incredible expertise. Taking inspiration from nature, this show mixes the tranquility of Garden of Words and the dramatic romance of Your Name. While some want constant action, I think the slice of life builds up to the eventual climax. I'm not going to describe the climax, but in my opinion, the ending could not b…

As a movie, "Weathering With You" is a movie that, to me, was a fun watch. It was the second in the "Makoto Shinkai's Disaster" trilogy, even though I watched this movie last. The animation helped, sure. But the story OF the movie- the concept that this one girl, the girl on the poster, was chosen as a "weather girl" is interesting. BUT I will say that it could have been better, especially within the context of the movie.
The main thing that, amongst other things, really stuck out was that the main trio of kids are about middle school age, while they, due to one reason or another (Running away or mom being gone). At the end of the day, I would say that, though it's not my favorite of the trilogy, let alone my favorite Anime Movie. BUT I would argue that, if willing to watch it, it's a goo…

I can understand why Weathering With You is so loved. The story is beautiful, the atmosphere is captivating, and visually, it's absolutely stunning. There are many moments throughout the movie that feel almost magical.
However, despite appreciating all of that, I never really felt connected to the characters. Their story was interesting, but I didn't become emotionally invested in them the way I expected to, which made some of the more dramatic moments have less impact on me.
I think this is one of those movies that I can appreciate more than I actually love. Everything is beautiful to look at, and the overall story has a lovely idea behind it, but the emotional connection just wasn't there for me.
Is a beautiful story and an amazing visual experience, but not one that managed to truly sta…

"Weathering with you" is truly a masterpiece ; of its kind ; the characters ; pacing and interactions feels very realistic ; it pulls you in like a downpour rain that never stops until the end of the flood leaving you with a clear sunshine.
It might not be a story for everyone ; but it develops the characters and personality ; that we all live in a crazy world ; and it is ok for the world to be crazy . A beautiful message and story that truly touched me as my personal opinion.
I place the direction of this movie on a high note up there with one of my favorite movies from Studio Ghibli ; such as Mononoke Hime ; Clannad and Byousoku 5 Centimeter
The rain brings the best and the worst out of us without knowing it ; the Rain can have a impact and send different feelings to each and everyone…

"I want you more than the blue sky."
I like to start every review with a quote, and I feel like this one fits perfectly.
I've seen so many people nitpicking this movie over the smallest details. The burger scene, for example. Bro was hungry and someone was nice enough to give him food... that's it. Not every single scene needs some hidden meaning or twenty layers of symbolism. Sometimes things happen because they're supposed to make the characters feel human.
Anyways, I do think this movie leaves you with a couple of loose ends and unanswered questions. There were definitely moments where I wanted more explanations, and some parts of the world-building could have been explored further. But honestly, it doesn't take away from the fact that this was still a fantastic movie.
I've always b…

Every once in a while, you watch an anime that reminds you why you fell in love with the medium in the first place. Weathering With You was one of those experiences for me.
I had seen this movie mentioned everywhere for years. Anime communities, recommendation lists, social media posts, YouTube videos, you name it. After finally sitting down and watching it, I can honestly say I understand the hype now.
The first thing that completely blew me away was the visual quality. I watched it in Blu-ray 2160p, and there were moments when I genuinely forgot I was watching an animated film. Everyone praises the rain and the sky, but what impressed me most were the little things. The food on the table. The chopsticks. The drinks. The plants in the background. The reflections on wet streets. The clut…

Weathering with you is a movie I first watched when I was getting into anime and during that time I really enjoyed it, much more than I really should have in my opinion. Although many portray it as being an equal to Your Name or Suzume, I certainly don't think so myself. Don't get me wrong, it has amazing visuals and a very good animation and great characters. What it certainly lacks is the strength to its plot. I don't think the movie could show to us what it was trying to. The relationship between Hina and Hodaka seems extremely rushed and the story behind Hina's powers weren't properly shown either. To an average viewer, I don't think it would matter as much but as I rewatched this to critique it, I certainly noticed that a huge part of the movie was wasted on building up traits of char…

This anime was one of the most iconic during its year of season of release due to the trailing hype before it, coming up to a state enthusiasm. This is only one note about the movie of Tenki No Ko. What transpires in this anime is a combination of real-lifeism(Basically and implementation of being in a world which similar to our reality, this planet) and one injection of fantasy and supernaturalism. This is revealed in one character later on, not to spoil on what happens eventually and why are we watching this movie of an anime.
To speak further, there are certain choices of scenary which make the anime beautiful and viewing it in a theater is one of the best if not the best way to view and enjoy this anime from start to finish. Without a shadow of a doubt, it is an anime to be remember a…

The Anime is strong as hell... its gorgeous, immersive, and full of heart; but for me it didn’t hit quite as hard as Your Name.
The visuals are honestly insane. Tokyo in this movie feels alive: the endless rain, neon reflections on wet streets, the sky opening up in these unreal moments… it’s pure eye candy. You could pause almost any frame and it would look like a wallpaper.
And the soundtrack: RADWIMPS absolutely delivers. The music doesn’t just sit in the background, it pushes scenes forward and amplifies the emotion without feeling manipulative. It’s one of those scores you remember after the credits roll.
The overall mood is consistent in the best way. Its melancholic, romantic, a little magical, a little sad. It has that dreamy Shinkai vibe where the atmosphere does half the story…

It's fine, above average.
It's a bit 1-note, hardly doing anything with such a fun premise. It didn't really have anything to say either so there isn't much to chew on for deeper meanings, it was merely spectacle done well on occasion (high budget cinematic art/animation and music). Which is fine, a story can be just a good spectacle to enjoy. But its main issue (aside from numerous dumb actions and contrivances throughout) was the large amount of mundane filler scenes (tons of pointless jobs) to pad the time in between anything of actual significance happening. Not intellectually stimulating, and not enough spectacle to be more superficially entertaining.
Subplots like the person behind the gun or the guys sexploiting underaged girls never went anywhere (they even had the police ignore c…

My first ever anime movie that I have watched and I was glad to experience this on the big screen for the limited showing that they had in the United States. Let me say that I am glad that this was my introduction to anime films with how amazing this movie is. A beautifully produced, acted, and scored movie. From the animation to the music to the writing each scene is amazing and the characters are a wonderful to follow. The music still gives me chills to this day and I absolutely love the story and message of this film. I don't even know what else to say that hasn't already been said before by more qualified anime reviewers. Just know that this film is wonderful and you are missing out if you haven't seen it yet.

Weathering with You portrays a romantic fantasy that blends youthful longing with social commentary about modern urban life. The story follows Hodaka Morishima, a runaway teenager who arrives in Tokyo seeking freedom and a new beginning. Struggling to survive in the overwhelming city, he eventually meets Hina Amano, a girl with the mysterious ability to temporarily clear the rain and bring out sunshine. In a city constantly drowning in endless rainfall, Hina’s power becomes both a miracle and a burden. Together they start a small service that brings brief moments of sunlight to people in need, creating fleeting pockets of hope in an otherwise gray world. The narrative gradually evolves from a simple story about survival and companionship into a deeper exploration of love, sacrifice, and pe…

Ah, to be in love. One of several of director Makoto Shinkai's films about young people longing for each other in absurdly detailed anime settings, "Weathering With You" delivers on all the J-pop needle drops and dramatic "I have to see her again!" moments that made his previous efforts, such as the 2016 smash hit "Your Name" global successes.
In the midst of the worst rainy season in Tokyo's recorded history, teenaged Hodoka attempts to make a life for himself away from his suffocating family and island home. A series of unfortunate (and some fortunate) events means that he becomes acquainted with the young Hina, a young woman who has the ability to replace the rainy sky with a sunny one. The pair work together to lend Hina's services to those who may need it, kicking off a love story f…

The first fifty, fifty-five minutes of the film are the best I’ve seen from the four films I’ve seen of Shinkai’s (out of Suzume, Your name, Garden of Words and this) and this is owing to the fun kind of energy brought by the main trio of a runaway kid, his kind of irresponsible but generous employer, and his high-energy crazy niece. This runaway meets a confident girl with the ability to dispel rain and her playboy nine-year-old brother, and together they try to make as much money as they can before the film passes the fifty-five minute mark.
Because after that point, the film has to get dark and serious, and this is according to the Japanese successful animated film formula, invented by someone, obviously, but I’m not sure who. It might be that FURRY Mamoru Hosada, who employs a similar…

To paraphrase Roger Ebert's Day after Tomorrow review: "It is such a relief to hear the music swell up at the end of a Makoto Shinkai movie, its restorative power giving us new hope. Millions of people may have died or had to evacuate, but at least the main characters love each other."
So, do I start with the movie's complacency in the face of climate catastrophe or with its obnoxious brat of a lead Hodaka? Both are intertwined in their misguidedness. Obviously, the prospect of entire cities getting flooded in the not-so-far future is a terrifying one, one that we're all going to have to prepare for by upgrading our infrastructure, healing our ecosystems, and stop pumping fossil fuels into the atmosphere to at least stem the damage and make the former two things, among others, possible to…

Everything about this movie is corporate, its just slop.
I hate ghibli movies too don't get me wrong, but this movie was hyped up, and has a great rating, but frankly its all hallow
The characters are ok. the protagonist doesn't get much backstory, no characters do really. 4/10
The animation is fine I guess, idk I'm not a animation snob. 6/10
the music is awful, I mean seriously, it feels like I'm listening to AI describing what emotional music is. 2/10 the plot is fine, nothing special, but not awful. definitely worked well in the movie format, sometimes I feel like shows should be movies or vice versa. 6/10
Overall, don't waste your time with this movie unless you have nothing better to watch.
5/10

Another Makoto Shinkai masterpiece that I finally got around to watching after overlooking it for a while, thinking it wouldn’t measure up to Your Name but after watching Suzume and appreciating it, I decided to give this one a try. The art and animation are, without question, near-perfect—very fluid, smooth, and full of high-level detail. A lot of care was put into world-building, from the depictions of food, cars, and environments to the stunning rain animations. Everything surrounding the anime is beautifully crafted. The introduction to the movie is among the best I’ve seen and could personally be my favorite. It starts with the main character moving to Tokyo, and we see how his life gradually turns around after getting a job from someone who once saved him as his character development…

Another masterpiece from Shinkai. This one is like Shinkai’s other films focused on disaster (Your Name and Suzume) in terms of the underlying social message, and like Garden of Words in its dialectical portrayal of rain. This one’s art, animation, and sounds are all also top-notch. The film also has an amazing starting and original well-designed characters. The story remains engaging as it unfolds, and if you truly grasp the narration and immerse yourself in its details, Shinkai serves us a cheap ticket to heaven while evoking a wide range of feelings.
The first thirty minutes of the film were my favorite. This is where the story is grounded, the two main characters’ backgrounds and problems are (not fully) revealed in a very attractive way. It is because the atmosphere and mystery are p…
