Nyanpire The Animation

Nyanpire The Animation

Introduction

When a handsome vampire finds a kitten on the verge of death, he cannot help but take pity on the poor creature and save its life the only way he knows how: by offering it some of his blood and granting it eternal life as a vampire cat. The kitten—now known as Nyanpire—does his best to acquire blood and other red substances for his consumption. At the same time, he must also manage the difficulties of being a household pet and keeping up with the other strange cats around the neighborhood. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

A quick first-October-watch this year. 4min shorts, minus the time for the intro segment and outro song in every episode. 12 segments of cute-bomb combining cat and vampire. "Bananya" for those who have slightly gothic tastes. We got just about what you would expect, and I enjoyed my time with it. It's funny to think of a vampire that saw a kitten in need and decided to give it immortal life as a vampire, but that is precisely the backstory of "Nyanpire", and his daily adventures are adorableness that you can easily knock out in less than an hour. It's weirdly not meant for the youngest kiddos, though, because some of the dialogue in a gag here and there is weirdly suggestive?! And the samurai cat (Masamunya) has a gay crush on Nyanpire?! I mean, I'm down for that, but a little wilder th…

Nyanpire the Animation is a nondescript little anime with an odd concept, where a cat is turned into a vampire. There's not that much that's really notable about it, beyond the live action outro music video, and the fact that the titular Nyanpire doesn't abide by many of the typical vampire rules, as he frolics in the sunshine and eats copious amounts of garlic. Anyway, the story is simple hijinks that result from Nyanpire's innocence and impulsivity. It's alright, but not really actively that funny. The art is simplistic, without much character to it. It feels as though it exists simply to portray Nyanpire as directly as possible. The sound is generally unremarkable, though the outro song is pretty catchy. The characters are purely their archetypes, and do not do much beyond their s…

This anime is a lot of fun. It delivers a gothic atmosphere while remaining kid friendly. Anyone can enjoy this anime, as it runs on pure cuteness. Nyanpire pulls off feel good, relaxing entertainment wonderfully. If you're looking for a chill anime to watch for Halloween, this would be a very good choice. Note that if you are looking for a intellectually challenging or "adult" anime, this is not for you. This is just a cute silly show. Great for fans of things mixing cute and dark, and cat lovers. It's a very short show, so even if you don't enjoy it, not much of your life is wasted. All that's missing is a season 2.

I have to admit, I started Nyanpire with pretty low expectations. My friend's recommendation had been a less-than-glowing "we just watched Nyanpire; it was really freakin' weird!" Going solely off of that vague statement and the rather silly title (I mean really, Nyanpire?), I started watching it without high hopes. Fortunately, I can say quite confidently that my initial impressions turned out to be wrong. That's not to say that Nyanpire isn't exactly what it sounds like: a silly collection of short episodes about a cat vampire and his friends. It's exactly that - nothing more, nothing less. But Nyanpire takes this ridiculous concept and does it well, managing to fit less than three minutes of deliciously cute story into four and a half minute long episodes. The remaining minute and a ha…

To start off, I must admit that it's sort of intimidating writing a review for such a masterpiece. However, I will try my best to convey to you all as to why this show is truly a masterpiece that transcends the medium as a whole. GONZO is finally back in full force after a 2 year break. Now what do they have to show for after these 2 long years? That would be Nyanpire. During these past few years, anime has been filled with pointless moe, excessive fanservice, and are completely lacking of any substance. Because of this, Nyanpire is a bright light of hope for the industry in these dark times. Moving on to the story. GONZO shows a certain brilliance that has been lacking in anime for quite some time. The ability to use such a simple premise, yet execute it flawlessly has been almost comp…
