It was so bittersweet to see this series come to an end. Where will I go for my daily cuteness overdose now??? It's a kids show, so the artwork is very cartoony. And the animation certainly leaves a lot to be desired. But the episodes, minus the opening, are only 2 minutes long. It's great if you only have a moment. Or you can binge 10-12 episodes in a row easily enough. The narrative writing is simplistic enough for even a preschooler to follow. Episodic, to some short arcs before things get resolved. But the thing that really impressed me was the wide array of characters, and how well written they all were. Chi's extended family is totally lovable, one and all. I liked the VA work. It fit both pets and humans well. The director did a good job of portraying a number of different emot…

(This review is for both Chi's Sweet Home and Chi's New Address.) This is the series that taught my daughter how to read. XD My daughter really loves cats. Like, REALLY loves cats. So when my husband and I stumbled upon this anime we were thrilled. We watched it subtitled, and our daughter was just learning how to read so it encouraged her to not only read, but read quickly. I really do encourage you to use subtitles if you have a child that is learning to read and you find something they are really interested in. We also got her the manga to read, which was more challenging because of the "baby talk", but she still loved every bit of it. The story is pretty good. It's actually more complex and emotional than I would have expected for a children's show, and I find that I enjoyed this an…

This anime is pure bliss if you own or wish to own pets, and appreciate the joy that they can bring into a household. The premise is simple - a mischievous, energetic kitten interacts with her environment. Each episode is only three minutes long, and is mostly an episodic adventure that carries the theme of “finding something new to explore each and every day”. If you’re familiar with the manga Yotsubato, the spirit is the same. What’s most wholesome about this show to me, is that it perfectly captures the influence that a pet can have on a family of all ages. The young boy Yohei has no siblings to play with, and is an only child. But he’s never lonely or because of the company that his cat provides for him. At one point, the boy was sick. And chi sat on his chest and kept him warm. Ther…

As someone who loves cats, this is a very cute and wholesome anime! If you love cats or have them, Id suggest watching this. Each episode is short, and my little sister (whos 8) watched this with me and I ended up falling in love with Chi! I could not help but stop smiling at Chi, and her cute bubbly personality. The entire anime is a slice of life anime about a simple kitty with her family. I feel like most people would end up loving Chi, so if you like slice of life anime and just want something to gush at, I would recommend this anime! The art is simple, yet it is memorable and adorable.

A must-watch anime for cat lovers! This anime focuses on a small kitten who was taken home by a child. While Chi is trying to adjust to life with the family, the human characters are trying to make sure their strict landlord doesn't discover Chi's existence, as pets aren't allowed in their apartment. Each episode is very short, so it's easy to sit down and breeze through a couple episodes at a time. It has some familiar moments for those who have ever owned a cat (for example, Chi preferring an empty box to the expensive toys the father bought her). The anime reminds us why we love cats, especially as the bond between Chi and Youhei grows.

This will be a spoiler-free, incredibly-biased review. I love cats, I truly do..that's kinda why my username (as of October 17th, 2016) is what it is. But when I learned that there was an entire anime about the daily life of a cat, I was excited! I was even more excited to learn that it had 104 episodes! ...Unfortunately these 104 episodes are around 3 minutes, and not your typical 20-something. But hey, this format definitely works for Chi and her story. By having shorter episodes, chunks of a story can be told at a time, allowing for a breezy watching schedule if you're like me, and nearing college within a year or so. "So, what makes Chi so special, can't I just watch that newer Bananya show?" ..I know someone is asking that. Well, my answer is that Chi simply has more content, and in…

The best word for Chii's Sweet Home is 'cute'. This show is pure, unmitigated cute. And I'll admit that isn't normally my thing because its rarely done right. That is to say that there's nothing wrong with cute, rather that cute in anime is very often interpreted as extremely dumb anime girls with fifty shades of glitter in their eyes. Chii avoids this, being that the main focus is on a kitten. The anime is basically the adventures of a cute kitten doing cute things in her cute new home. Again, like I said, this show is CUTE. There's nothing really magical or supernatural about it. More, its the slice of life of being a curious young kitten interacting with her new family and an unfamiliar world. Anyone who has had a kitten can account for both their massive bravery and massive cowardice…

This is a slice-of-life anime that goes through the Yamada's acceptance of Chi's role in their family. From the funny moments of discovery, that cats nails need trimmed, they like being brushed, and how much of a pushover otosan is, to the touching moments, where Chi went for a walk and couldn't find her way home to the Yamada's, and the sudden moving away of Chi's best cat friend, there isn't a moment that you aren't riveted. Sure, it's an anime for younger children, the japanese is very simple, as are the short (only 6 minutes long) episodes, but when you start watching that all fades as Chi's antics with the Yamada family. Each character is fully developed with a personality, and not as backdrops or reactionaries to Chi. Each of the Yamadas come to different conclusions on how to take…

I am a cat owner myself and can recommend this series to not only cat lovers, but to anyone who likes animals. Chi's Sweet Home is a short 3-minute episode series about a kitten who lives with the Yamada family. You can read the summary yourself, we know that's not why you're reading this! Anyway.... Story: 9 I love the pacing of this story! If you have not seen the now infamous Axis Powers Hetalia,( which is a 5-minute series), or any other series with episodes this short, you are missing out! But that is beside the point. This type of series is really difficult to write for because it has to present a good amount of information without feeling like you tried to stuff 30 minutes of content into a 5 min or less time slot. Chi's Sweet Home does this really well, and even sets you up for…

"Chi's Sweet Home" is so sweet that cute and sweet that i wouldn't recommend it to diabetics. Story - Being a children's anime plot isn't a key factor of the series but regardless of that it has a very nice little story. It's really great how one three minute episode can leave you rolling on the floor with laughter and the next will have tearing at your hair at anticipation. Some episodes will even having you balling like a baby. Also, the series actually has many realistic themes and will really hit home for anyone who has ever raised a kitten (litter box training, shedding, opening screen doors, ect.). The only complaint I have plot wise is that the end leaves many questions unanswered but I guess that's why the sequel is being released this month. ^^ Art - What I like about the animati…

If you love cats like I do, then immediately stop reading this review and go watch. For the rest of you, proceed to the next paragraph. Chi’s Sweet Home is like the Nintendo Wii of anime. Anyone of all ages can enjoy it: your sister will like it, your mom will like it, even your grandma will like it, if she’s into anime and is cool like that. Story ----------------------- The story is pretty clear-cut. A cute kitten named Chi gets lost and separated from her mother, and a human family that lives nearby finds her and decides to adopt her. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed in the apartment complex, so the Yamada family must keep Chi out of sight, especially from the landlady. The third quarter of the 104 three-minute-long episodes gets kinda repetitive and filler-ish, but once you get o…
