Kimera

Introduction

Osamu and Jay are two cereal salesmen traveling for work when they encounter a barricade. Curious as to what is going on, they step out of their car and enter into a government secret. Two mysterious demon-like men have been terrorizing the military, who came to respond to a car crash involving a vehicle carrying government research material. Inside the car wreckage, Osamu finds a beautiful hermaphrodite with gold and crimson eyes trapped in a frozen chamber. Osamu shares a kiss with them through the glass before he is forced to flee the scene. Osamu and Jay interrogate Jay's father, a top researcher at a government laboratory, who reveals that what Osamu and Jay saw was top-secret, and they would likely be sitting in prison if it weren't for his influence. While Jay is ready to forget everything that happened, Osamu cannot let it go that easily. After stealing a security badge, Osamu finds where the person he kissed is being kept, and learns that their name is Kimera. Osamu wants to run away with the beautiful Kimera, though he does not know why Kimera is being held captive or what a relationship with them means for the future of humanity. Who Put My Sexy Man/Woman In A Jar Kimera Is an anime about a strange encounters, where you find the person you love in a tube and want to release them, but you are totally not because gay. If you watched it dub your in for interesting time, because to have the not gay card, they have chosen to change the gender of the Alien. And that is kind of the most interesting thing about this OVA, because if you're not into men's Love, you are not gonna happen good time. The stores and characters are just not an interesting, and the premise just isn't there. what I got most out of it was watching the character designs, because they are very distinct because of Yasuomi Umetsu style, that really pops later in kite and mezzo forte. It's an aggressively boring OVA that feels like, none of the Engli…

Campy 90s OVA romp. Watch it dubbed if you can. Japanese cereal salesman goes abroad to America with his doofus American friend, hooks up with hermaphrodite space vampire while being hunted by other space vampires who want they/them more. What more could you ask for? I can't in good faith give Kimera an actually serious positive rating; the soundtrack is at times downright bizarre, the deranged writing tries to cram entirely too much into entirely too little, and there's a pretty uncomfortable rape scene that goes on for a bit too long to be brushed off. That aside, this movie is dripping in the dumb fun of the 90s gorey dubbed OVAs that laid the foundations for Anime overseas, and it's great to watch with a late night pizza or a group of friends who aren't going to be paying too much att…

I've decided to review a god awful Yaoi title for LGBTQ Pride Month! I believe the last time I did this was for "Boku no Sexual Harassment" back in 2016, so it's been far too long! This is the story of Kimera: Gender/Sexuality or as its better known in America, Kimera: Gay Vampires from Outer Space! Kimera was created by the same woman who wrote Boku no Sexual Harassment, so we're off to a great start! The animation studio behind Kimera was Animate Film, who mostly did in-between animation for larger studios. However, they did create a few independent projects apart from Kimera, most notably the ecchi classic Plastic Little, directed by Satoshi "King of Breasts" Urushihara. Here is where things get messy. Myanimelist doesn't actually list a director for Kimera. If I go to Anime News Netwo…

Me being me, I love seeking out & watching really awful anime OVAs. With me also liking to write reviews on these said atrocities on occasion, I have come across some real stinkers such as Dark Cat, Sword For Truth, Kennel Tokorozawa, & Kite to name a few. Kimera just so happens to be another victim about to face my wrath. I’m kinda hoping this will be somewhat bearable, but we’ll find out I guess. Story: 1/10 The story is completely incomprehensible. The “plot” is supposed to be about this guy named Osamu finding the titular character & protecting her I think? The only thing we really know about Kimera is that it’s a guy that looks like a girl, though it’s rather confusing at first. Because Kimera looks exactly like a woman, it isn’t until we see a shot of his chest that we realize it…

This anime would have been more tolerable if the music wasn't so terrible. Most notable, 38 minuets into the show one song during the only fight scene included dialog from what sounds like a phone call. A woman saying something like "Your payment for your insurance is approximately 4 weeks overdue, no insure company will ever take you with your insurance...". All of the music and stock sound effects were just bad. And yes this was the original Japanese version. Maybe they did a better job on the English dub, but I haven't seen it. If this anime was any longer than 45 minuets I don't think I would have ever finished it. The first scene of this show shows a lot of promise to be a bizarre and unique anime. This atmosphere diminishes throughout the movie up until the end. If I could suggest an…

Its an anime with late 90s aesthetics. While it may not appeal to a lot of people (because the last 20 minutes of this anime are consumed with an exposition dump and an ending which leaves a lot of head scratching - even though it makes sense, but its more short term sense rather than long term), the overall art style, english dub quality, and general competent direction is acceptable. I think its a decent work, even though I wouldn't see it a second time. With that said, it is under 50 minutes, so that works in its favor. You can watch the OVA without prior knowledge about the villains. That's why the ending - although you expect it because of the modus operandi of the villains - isn't lame, but it isn't mind blowing either. Overall, its a competent enough story, with characters that may…

Rate a 5 English Dubbed Story Odd putting to say the least. Story is about vamps but doesn't really stick to what equals a vamp. Also, the 'Green creature' concept is puzzling. I am aware of what the green creature is but the makes it seem somewhat natural to the characters when it actually confusing to the viewers. Let's just say when it comes to frisky things you need matching tools which set of the two is missing on the 'green creature?'' Aside from those confusing elements it was an original story. As for the ending... Not quite what i was hoping/expecting but it works i guess. It was a interesting twist that way. Art Matched the confusing elements of the plot. Artwork in general was beautiful and clean. Animation was smooth. No need to change the dials of your viewing monitor the ey…

Selected scene from Kimera, 1996: An Air Force official maintains a roadblock on a rural mountain path. He is armed, and there are numerous uniformed soldiers clearly visible in the background, as well as the flaming wreckage of an overturned army-green transport. As a bystander approaches to, y'know, see what all the fuss is about, the official levels his assault rifle, its muzzle six inches from the man's head, and says “you can't be here, it's dangerous, run!” The bystander does the absolute last thing that any thinking human being would do: Pushes the barrel of the gun aside with his hand and demands to know WHAT, exactly, is dangerous about this situation. Yes, it soon becomes clear that this particular OVA takes place in a very special setting, a hilarious pseudo-reality crafted with…

This is one totally underrated piece. I watch low rated films with my finger on the "skip" button, just to make sure that I'm not missing out. This time I didn't use it even once. Story: One of the rarest occasions when you watch fantasy/Sci-Fi/supernatural and in the end everything make sense. The plot is not too twisted, but well thought through. No Deus ex Machina, no "figure it out for your self" parts. The story flows smoothly and the ending is not trivial, but conclusive. Art: The style is a bit old, yet thoroughly done, nothing extraordinary, except for the fight scene, that was pretty intense and visual (blood and guts all over). Characters: Yea, that is the best part. Usually I'm not just picky, I'm fastidious. But in this anime every one was in his rightful place: the villain,…

I picked this anime up a long time ago on a whim, boy I didn't know what I was getting into. STORY: It's about a vampire wanting to use Kimera to continue the race. During this there seems to be a lot of Damsel in Distress on top of her being a vampire. The weirdest thing about her is that she has the upper body of a man and the lower body of a female. There appears to be a rape scene of some sort too, but it's just odd because Kimera looks like a woman/man or something. She doesn't talk, which is boring, she talks in flash backs but nothing else. She is fixated on this guy who helped her. ART: I like the art, it's beautiful and it uses a fun use of colour, but I have nothing to complain about but it wasn't anything super special. SOUND: The music was okay, it fit what it was bein…
