It's a shame anthology anime like this didn't catch on in the same way as it has in other media like film or even in manga. Ani*Kuri15 is quite a lot harder to rate than something like Memories, Neo Tokyo, or Robot Carnival, due to the 60 second limitation of each short, but nonetheless the 15 shorts contain some wonderful ideas and imagery, some stronger than others obviously, a few of the shorts felt like the animators somewhat giving up, or just reusing some old animation they had made, where others like Makoto Shinkai and Satoshi Kon are able to tell actual beautiful stories. Mahiro Maeda also surprised me with a wonderful little satirical short reminiscent of what Trigger would come to make plenty of in the years after his involvement in Ani*Kuri.
(Also a sidenote, don't mind the over…

AniKuri15, a captivating compilation of 15 short films from several diverse studios, offers a glimpse into a world where abstract visuals and animation dominate the limited runtime. While a few episodes display dated CGI, such instances are primarily confined to their respective episodes. The series presents an array of distinct art styles and visually engaging animations, with numerous shorts deserving high praise. However, unless you possess a deep passion for animation, AniKuri15 proves challenging to recommend due to its specialized content that caters to the discerning tastes of animation enthusiasts.
My personal favorites include "Hidden Princess," "Good Morning," "The Assassin Comes to Hunt in the Mountains!!," and "A Gathering of Cats."

Each story has a different art style and they are not connected, so viewer doesn´t have to watch all the shorts. I´m putting mixed feeling since I don´t think they work being put thogether in one video. I reccomend watching them sepreparetly and not in one go.
Here are my thoughs on the short stories:
The Secret Princess – basic anime style story. It was funny but that´s it.
Gyrosopter – nice music interesting art style – doesn´t have a story but still works beautifully.
Amusement Park Kiss – very cute kind of gives me old short movies (Disney) vibes.
Beyond the Tears - Very pretty music video reminds me of Crying for rain by Minami.
Project Mermaid – uncanny valley feeling. Real woman/mermaid is swimming in CGI setting.
Frolicking – The short film starts as a feel-good story b…

Really cool to see 15 different animators work with only 60 seconds to make something creative and memorable. A few were better than others, but they were all great.
Story: 7/10
No story to be exact, not much to tell in just 60 seconds. But the time they did have conveyed a lot of ideas and emotions and you could feel what each animator wanted to show with their project.
Art: 10/10
I loved the different styles of each animator. Nothing was the same and each had their own unique charm. Very nice and pleasant to watch.
Sound: 8/10
The music and different voice acting that each animator presented were all very different and worked very well with their pieces. I loved it.
Character: 7/10
Nice diversion of casts and stories between animators. Very interesting to see everyone's creative pro…

Shinji Kimura - Attack of Higashimachi Ni Chome/Attack of Higashimachi 2nd Burough.
Funny CGI / Paper cutout animation about an alien invasion. Score: 7
Shōjirō Nishimi - Uchujin Raikou Hiroshi no Baai/Invasion from Space - Hiroshi's Case.
Funny short about a guy unaware of the alien in his studio. The static camera allows for some good character animation, with an art style reminiscent of Masaaki Yuasa. Score: 7
Akemi Hayashi - Namida no Mukou/From the Other Side of the Tears.
Seems to try and tell a story about heartbreak, but it's lost in the confusing storyboarding. The song is nice, though. Score: 5
Osamu Kobayashi - Sancha Blues/The Aromatic Tea Blues.
It does a good job at conveying the hardships of running a record store. The art style is pretty cool, too. Score: 7
Yasufumi Soe…

Aki*Kuri 15 is an anthology movie consisting of 15 one-minute short films, each directed and produced by different animators in their own styles. Many big names are featured here, and there's no other relation between the shorts. In that case, a generalization would be undescriptive and pointless. Here's my full rundown.
1. "The Hidden Princess" - Mahiro Maeda
In a sci-fi infused feudal Japan among the likes of Ganbare Goemon and Gintama a princess transforms into a super powered girl to fight off an impending evil army. The short is a nutshell parody of comedic action anime with fast animation that hyperbolizes many old tropes. It's funny enough for its one minute.
2. "Gyrosopter" - Ranji…

This review only covers each short, not the entirety of the work. With creations like these, it is hard to review the work as a whole. So I will dissect the work into 15 parts.
The Secret Princess (5)- This might appeal to people who like very random things like Lucky Star. True, this whole 15 minute series is random in general, but this short is especially so. Art is average at best, sound is more of a late 80's to mid 90's retro sound. Too random for my taste, but others have rated it higher.
Gyrosopter (7)- I'm not a huge fan of CG anime, but I liked this one. Not much of a story, even compared to some of the other shorts, but I really enjoyed the music. If you have read any of my other reviews, you will have discovered that sound is often a make or break point for me.
Amusement Par…

Anikuri 15 was something that showed up on an accidental search and I stumbled across it. And long behold I was quite happy with the outcome, because what I had come across was a showcase piece of some of the most talented artists in anime in which each one puts together a 1 minute short to see how fast they can create an atmosphere, a character that people can connect with, and a story or work of art that people can understand. It was quite a fascinating piece, and although I would've wanted more character development and story, for god's sake man, it one minute an episode. Overall I sincerely enjoyed this series, and if you are looking for something short, sweet, and includes the work of artists like Satoshi Kon, Makoto Shinkai, and Shinji Kimura, pick this sucker up. You will be humbly…

15 animation personalities of different anime studios are given 60 seconds to animate something and were compiled into this small movie called Ani (Animation) Kuri (creators) 15. These shorts were shown between commercials in NHK channel and it's other channels.
- The Hidden Princess /"Princess Onmitsu" (Mahiro Maeda: Gonzo) - 6.3
Regular animation here and a cute story based on anime most used themes. A little princess turns into a magical girl and defeats a power rangers like villains and the final boss with the help of her doll.
- "Gyrosopter" (Ranji Murata: Gonzo; and Tatsuya Yabuta: Gonzo) - 5.6
Yoy can feel Range Murata in it even though it was fully made in 3D. This doesn't had a story so to tell. It showed the so called Gyrosopter and a a girl looking at the water reminiscing abo…
