As of today, this series is still in production. So my comments are directed at those "considering" if they should watch or not. The Good: Frankly, I continue to watch because I already made the time investment and because it has some of my favorite elements for the genre in it (Cultivation, Martial Arts, and Alchemy) The story has elements of Drama and Romance but while I don't personally care for them, many viewers do enjoy those. The Mixed: Xiao, Yan caries many secrets, as most MCs do, but I'm not a fan of deceiving allies and then putting on the guise of a Saint. It turns a character who is genuinely good into a sanctimonious dirtbag in my book. I would site examples but I am trying to keep this spoiler free.. so, I will leave it at a behavior that has much to be desired in my book.…

If you’re looking for a wonderful story with everything, don’t hesitate to watch this anime! It has a diverse cast of characters who are never simply abandoned by the story, along with adventure, a cultivation world, beautiful fights, drama, romance, tragedy, and much more. The story follows Xiao yan, the son of a small clan, who, through his talent and will and with the help of a master, rises from the very bottom to become one of the most powerful persons of his generation. Also, he is never afraid of anything that stands in his path. Each season also has its own main storyline, which keeps things fresh and makes the anime’s long runtime doesn't feel tiring. The animation and graphics also improve gradually as the series progresses.

Battle Through the Heavens is truly the best donghua I’ve ever seen — and I’ve seen a lot. But Battle Through the Heavens is special: a gripping and thrilling story, a protagonist who genuinely evolves and has real charisma, and top-tier visuals. The first season might be a bit less enjoyable to watch, but after that, it's masterpiece after masterpiece. I haven’t felt this kind of passion since Naruto during my childhood. Sometimes, the biggest weakness of donghua is having a coherent and understandable story (looking at you, Perfect World), but Battle Through the Heavens nails it perfectly. Donghua really is the future, and I’m so happy to have discovered this universe! Je dois être un des seul français à regarder, mais un grand merci aux animateurs !

If you are looking for an anime with a very interesting and strong story line, exciting, and action-packed, I recommend this anime 100%. As I continue watching Doupo Cangqiong, it’s clear how expertly the series blends action, emotional drama, and character development. The animation, especially in the battle scenes, is amazing, with exciting martial arts moves and powerful magical abilities. The story might feel slow at times as it sets up the world and characters, but it’s worth the wait as the action gets more intense and the stakes rise. The world-building is detailed, with unique landscapes and a well-thought-out system that makes the world feel real. The themes of perseverance, inner strength, and self-discovery are strong, and the show mixes light moments with serious emotional s…

I have started and tried to watch this original season 1 of BTTH multiple times, but the difference in style and storytelling from the rest of the series has pushed me away each time. Now about 1.5 years since I watched Origins -> NianFan 1 (S5 P1), I've finally decided to tough it out and do a full watch and write my review on both as BTTH's S1 donghua and as an adaptation of the novel. Plot Summary: Xiao Yan is a fallen genius, once having reached the Dou Zhe level at age 11. But due to reasons unknown, his cultivation fell back down to Dou Zhi Qi rank 3, making him the ridicule of everyone in the family. Because of this, his fiance, borrowing the name of a powerful sect, comes to force the annullment of their marriage agreement. Prompted by her immense disrespect, Xiao Yan stands up to…

Caution: This review is only for the first season. Apparently, next seasons got much better. I'll watch them and write reviews at appropriate pages. I will give my honest, one-line review: This shitshow brutally murdered one of the best parts of the story. A complete massacre. Story: If you have already read the novel then don't watch this. MC's character was horribly nerfed. Some key points of the story were horribly changed. These changes actually affect the entire story's continuity. It should have stuck to the original story instead of this horrible improvisation. Art: The art is fairly decent. Arguably, a notch above other similar titles. However, some of the over dramatic scenes ruin the mood. Sound: Fairly good sound effects. Maybe tone down a little bit to be better. Character…

I'm writing this review after watching all 3 seasons of the anime as well as all the specials that are available at this moment. This review will be spoiler free, so feel free to read before you watch. The first season of Doupo Cangqiong is garbage, there are no other ways to put it. The story is stale and have been done many times before. Normally I don't have a problem with overused stories as long as the execution is good, but as you guessed it, the execution is also trash. Story: This story starts with our protagonist Xiao, Yan. When he was just a young boy, he had great power that surpassed everyone his age. He was a genius, and because of his amazing abilities, he was engaged to Yan Ran, Na Lan, a girl from a powerful family. Just as everything was going well for Xiao, Yan, somet…

I'm going to preface this review by saying that I've read the web novel and the manhua for Battle Through the Heavens, and both are quite excellent and are among my favorite xianxia series. This anime adaptation however, is quite horrific: not only is the editing incredibly messy, with a lot of abrupt cuts that interrupt the flow, but the characters act nothing like their source material counterparts and entire scenes progress in a way that is hackneyed and incomprehensible. Do yourself a favor and pick up the webnovel for the plot points that the 1st season covers, and start watching from the ONA special. Because of the terrible feedback from Chinese audiences, Tencent switched animation studios for the ONA special and season 2, which are vastly improved and are actually quite good.

As someone who is familiar with the Douluo Dalu series, this story doesn't feel quite refreshing or original. Despite that, it's highly enjoyable, hence I finished it in a couple of hours. Story [6]: The story is like something I have seen before, which is not necessarily a bad thing, as long as it is done right. So far, the story is good, but not outstanding. There are things I personally would like to see go in a different direction, but for now these are OK. Art [7]: This series art isn't your typical 2D anime, instead it's more 3Dish. I personally appreciate the 3D animation and art style. The way this series looks, reminds me of a PS3 game or perhaps a Final Fantasy game. It isn't thát pretty, but very well done. Sound [7]: Unlike many other shows that I have watched, where I barel…
