Don't Hurt Me, My Healer!

Don't Hurt Me, My Healer!

Introduction

In a world where monster invasions are rampant and frequent, being an adventurer in a party is considered one of the most desirable jobs for the honor and fame it provides. Wanting to make a name for himself, a young human warrior named Alvin intends to start his career by completing a low-level request for the guild. While en route, Alvin is confronted by a magical bear and immediately finds himself in a pinch. As luck would have it, a dark elf healer named Karla approaches and asks if Alvin requires assistance—being seemingly oblivious to the situation before her eyes. After a discussion needlessly complicated by Karla's absurdly eccentric personality, Alvin somehow convinces her to help him. Unfortunately, instead of healing him, she accidentally casts a curse: if Alvin strays too far from her, he shall die. Despite being forced to accompany Karla until the curse is broken, Alvin remains steadfast in his ambition to become a full-fledged adventurer. With a partner by his side, the journey toward his goal may grow easier—or harder—depending on Karla's whims. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Despite being low rated. It is a very fun show to watch. It doesn't take itself seriously but it can really make you laugh. It's effortlessly funny. And the chemistry between the two main characters is very amusing. And bonus points for being an actual fantasy show not another unnecessarily isekai. The artsyle is ok. The characters are all unique and interesting. The MC himself is very generic and feels like a placeholder. But the healer is the best. I was sad to know it came out in 2022 with no s2 plans. I really hope more people give it a chance.

“Don’t Hurt Me, My Healer!” is what happens when a healer main has had enough. This show actually starts off pretty solid. But unfortunately because it’s mostly episodic it lacks any sort of overarching plot and the story is treated as a comic relief that goes back to status quo after about 30 seconds. If it had any sort of meaningful long term consequences to anything it would be much better. Listen, comedy needs contrast otherwise it smothers itself. Before we start I would like to explain something. I will be talking about “plot” and “story”. Many people use those terms interchangeably. I’m not one of those people, so to make sure everyone is on the same page… I use the definitions for “plot” and “story” as Lisa Cron describes them: “What happens in the story is the PLOT, the surfac…

I was reluctant to watch it at first . But when i finally gave it a go, it didn't dissapoint. The first 2 episodes are meh, but it picks up afterwards. The dry and morbid humour reminded me of The Amazing world of Gumball in a way . I laughed plenty at this one . The animation is very basic though. Really bad . There's not much of a plot really. There is however somewhat of a character development. This anime is the real PG-13 experience that other anime with the same rating don't give . If you go in not expecting any plot, as you should, it's a nice watch. Otherwise, you will not enjoy it.

Ragnarök online the animation done right. A true hidden gem for those who can see the gem hidden inside. There is a story, but you won't see it unless you look for it. There are character development, but you won't know about it unless you read between the lines. It is very fun, but only for those who can understand this very specific kind of humor. Seriously though, if you like original Ragnarök online and are nostalgic for that great dating service, go watch this anime right now. Otherwise check the first few episodes to see if you're into this kind of humor and don't bother if you're not. It doesn't get better, but it also doesn't get worse. It does get a bit deeper, but it is not very deep and it is not made with depth in mind.

You know that trope of the side couple that refuse to admit their feelings so bicker all the time? Ok, so change that from romantic to sibling and you have this show. Overall this wasn't a bad idea. In most shows that couple and their bickering would be a fan favorite. The trouble is they are always the side characters for a reason. Some things are better in small doses. Also it doesn't help that this show doesn't have a plot or anything. It's 100% just the bickering. Also it's one of those shows where the side characters are extra nice and exist to play cheerleader for the MCs. I'm scoring this a 6 purely on the fun factor since plot and character are practically in the dumpster. The dub it's actually fun. Most of the jokes are verbal and include untranslatable puns & word play in…

Allow me to tell you the optimal way to watch this show: Watched the first episode in subs and was ready to mark it off as a 4/10 mediocre attempt at comedy, but wanted to give it another shot in dub because why not. Didn't expect it to save the show, but here we are. The jokes work WAY better when they're heard, not read. The comedic timing isn't god level or anything, but I underestimated how significant it was being hindered by watching it in sub. I have a hunch that a good chunk of the 1 - 2 star reviews are because of people watching subs. I recommend you watch in dub without subtitle to better enjoy the banter between our two """"heroes"""". People have preferences, and there are a couple of things you should know. First, go in understanding that the point of this show is that pret…

I think the show was mostly ok. I just didn't find the jokes that funny. The story follows a guy who is pretty bad at adventuring and healer elf girl who is just bad in general. They don't really develop much, most of the episodes are just a variety of situations meant to hang gags and jokes. YMMV on those jokes, but I found the humor rather repetitive by the end. The same stuff just kind of happens over and over again. The adventuring plots are varied and interesting ,but the humor tends to devolve into the same things. Most of it comes from the elf girl misunderstanding things because she never listens to the guy or pays attention to anything. She's just kind of a selfish idiot who doesn't understand how the world works. In small does, that kind of humor can work, but it's the whole sho…

Today I came to do a review of a very funny anime that I really liked He is called kono healer mendokusai You have no idea how funny this anime is, it revolves around alvin a level 100 adventurer (beginner) and an annoying elf named carla Holy shit these two are perfect I've never seen a pair so well synchronized now I have to say but what a motherfucker elf, but this is a positive point since if it wasn't for her alvin wouldn't do anything during the anime It's very very good the interaction that this anime has with the people who are really watching it is as if this anime was made with the greatest affection in the world The characters are very captivating the op is unique and very interesting But... I felt that from episode 10 onwards as much as the comedy as much as the p…

Karla is probably the best worst girl you could ever ask for. Together with Alvin they're the best Manzai duo to ever go adventuring together. Seriously each segment of the show just feels like the two of them acting out a fully structured comedy routine as the fantasy characters around them just sort of watch and try not to get involved. It's great. It plays really fast and loose with it's fantasy world building, basically pushing away all tropes that don't fit the current setup for the joke they're trying to tell, sometimes literally. Making the adventuring party completely inept while also having them bumble their way to success is a classic formula for comedic success. It reminds me of KonoSuba in a lot of ways, but the comedy as I mentioned is far more structured. Things I found mos…

EDOSHINRATENSEI

A weird satire where an elf healer verbally harassed a noob fighter. Gosh this show was painful to watch. The jokes at the beginning were funny at first. However, it’s pretty much the same jokes repeated for the rest of the show. The worst thing is that they were just not funny. I barely chuckled and didn’t flinch a facial muscle. I know Carla is supposed to be annoying, and she was. However, she’s also cringe because of the horrible comedy. There’s even a romantic component near the end, which added more cringe to the mix. Since I hate the main characters, I also hate the side characters as well. They are so irrelevant and not funny. At least they were not annoying. Overall, one of the most cringe and unfunny shows this Spring season. Carla not only hurt Alvin, but also my ears. 5.5…

Kono Healer, Mendokusai (2022) Honestly a pretty good show despite it being what feels like a definite non-return show. The show is pretty funny and takes an unusual style of comedy which is enjoyable. It also tries to be a normal adventure-style show with a little tiny hint of a tint of romance in it. The art is of good quality for the show's style. It is pretty consistent throughout the entire season. The sound is good, the characters are funny and well-chosen. The ED is pretty great. The characters mainly Alvin and Carla make for a dynamic duo which makes for a really fun show I have to say. I would give this a pretty solid 7/10.

The easiest way to explain this show is that, this is a fantasy version of Nagatoro or Uzaki-chan. Karla is essentially the typical bully tsundere archetype. Admittedly, Alvin is much more enjoyable than the usual male protagonists of these types of shows. The side characters / monster of the week also pull their weight and integral to the show. The show is episodic and has no real plot. It is a satire on the fantasy genera and pokes fun at the stereotypical roles assigned to fantasy classes like the healer and warrior. Unfortunately, the manzai-style jokes may be a hit or miss for a lot of viewers. When it is funny, it is quite hilarious. While Karla and Alvin may come across as downright terrible people, it should be understood that this is the way the jokes works; Karla being the "bok…

This is the worse anime I have ever watched. The only reason I continued was because of the comedy. Story: The story is really dumb. It's just so pathetic. A hero come across a dark elf healer who keeps putting him down, in which they form a pack. There is no enjoyment of the story. Art/Sound: The art is good and the sound is fine. So, nothing complain here. That about the best part of this anime. Character: The worse characters ever. The hero is basically dumb. The dark elf just keeps putting the hero down, making him a dumb character. Enjoyment/Overall: If you are looking to get a hard laugh, this is it. You are basically laughing throughout the whole series. So, just watch a Funny stupid anime.

This Healer's a Handful actually prompted me to write my first review. This anime is ridiculously misunderstood. If you like anime where every episode is either filled with quick jokes or mindless banter between characters with a sprinkle of surprisingly wholesome moments, you'll probably at least like This Healer's a Handful. If you want something with depth or an amazing story, this isn't the show for you. Personally, this is the AOTY for me so far. At least until Mob Psycho S3... Plot: Not important. Story: There is no story Sound: idk, it's forgettable and at its worst, it's painfully generic. The thing is, I wouldn't put it past the studio to make it sound generic as a joke. Animation: Mostly average, sometimes a little stiff even. However, it's a comedy anime made by a seemingl…

Don't take me seriously at all, I'm a weeb. This anime is one of the best gag anime I've ever seen (as I've never seen gintama, the funniest thing to me was them comedies in the romcom animes). A healer that speaks in funny and a warrior that speaks in tsukkommi, never have I seen a better pair since oreo and milk. The dialogues are packed full of insulting jokes and irony but they does a pretty good job at moving the plot forward (if there's even a plot?). As the arcs end within 1-2 episodes, you get the full start and end within that time, maximizing the enjoyment value of the gag anime as it should be doing. (It also lets you drop the anime within the first 2 episode cuz you might already feel completed?) I want to talk about the OP and ED as well; total bangers. The OP contained some…

Not sure what went wrong with reception of this show, but I guess the main point here is: Don't Hurt Me, My Healer! is pure gag comedy and very competent at that, but if you don't like this style of simplistic, practical humour, you'll hate every minute of it. It also doesn't look or sound particularly amazing, meaning you either enjoy it for what it is or have no reason to watch it past the first episode. It doesn't evolve much or build much of a storyline, it just throws new, somewhat repetitive gags onto the pile. On the other hand, I don't think this show is brainless. It absolutely dismantles typical fantasy tropes in a way I found highly amusing and unlike those people in early negative reviews, I think the Karla/Arvin duo has its own appeal... Especially Karla who at first might se…

What I didn't know going into Kono Healer Mendokusai (henceforth Karla's show) was that it wasn't your typical anime. Each episode consists of our two mains playing off of each other in verbal wordplay while being joined by the guest of the episode. In short, it's Manzai. While I'm not as familiar with Manzai as I was back about a decade ago when I used to watch a lot of it, I can still tell what good or bad comedy is. Karla's show is very hit and miss for the most part, oftentimes within minutes of each other in the same episode. A lot of jokes have this predictable routine where Karla does something stupid only for Alvin to very loudly and angrily rebut her, which works early on each episode but gets tiring near the end. Honestly with the way each episode is set up, the ideal way (whic…

Recommendation: Skip it. Comedy is a subjective medium, so it isn't always a meaningful criticism to say that a show "isn't funny". What's funny varies widely from person to person, and something that I find laugh out loud hilarious might bomb with a different audience. I tend to give comedies a fair amount of latitude with this in mind. However, when I tell you that Kono Healer, Mendokusai isn't funny, I mean it in a different sense than that. This show is *structurally* unfunny, by which I mean the problem isn't the jokes themselves, but the technical construction of those jokes. There are some good one liners and gags in this show, but even when it's funny, the jokes are constantly undermined by Alvin's reacting and screaming. Nothing kills a joke like explaining the punchline, and th…

I watched twenty-five anime this Spring 2022 season. Twenty-five, plus a few more that leaked over from Winter. That's quite a lot. By far the most I've watched in a season. To think that Kono Healer, Mendokusai would end up becoming my favorite airing anime, well, I can scarcely believe it myself. I enjoyed the first episode for sure, but there were so many high praising series alongside it. Alvin and Karla. What a pairing these two are. Alvin, a thirty something year old human, your average throwaway mob character that you see in any fantasy show and Karla, the cute dark elf, one of anime's biggest ever trolls. My initial thoughts on this anime were pretty positive overall, a humorous Boke and Tsukkomi comedy act, set in a typical fantasy world, as they go about their daily lives, tra…

"I love being an enigma. Every time I'm tempted to respond to someone who tries to put me in a box, politically - you know, someone who gets on the Internet and says, you're pro-gun, or you're anti-gun - I stop and say to myself, 'This is great; this is what I wanted. I wanted to be the guy you can't figure out.'" - Brad Paisley Kono Healer, Mendokusai a.k.a Don't Hurt Me, My Healer! by the relatively unknown mangaka Tannen ni Hakkou is an adventure series. It's set in the fantasy world. It's also a comedy. But what this show is in one summarized package...well, it's high-class, expensive humour on a page-ly basis that when turned into anime thanks to low-budget studio Jumondo's production under wonky director Nobuaki Nakanishi's spotty track record, it's comedy in an episode basis that d…
