The story/plot is tragic and boring. On the other hand, the setting, all those colors, and the music matched to the current action actually turned out really well, which is the biggest plus. If not for a certain character near the end, this anime would be, colloquially speaking, completely fucked. The rest of the characters feel thrown together on the fly for laughs — none of them has anything original about them and they exist just to exist. The main character’s entire personality is that he walks around at night and is messed up; there isn’t a single thing that makes him interesting to watch. As Mammon would put it: congratulations on the brain, kid. Even if this anime has some deeper message that isn’t visible at first glance, there’s still no chance of saving this season. I had to writ…

The anime is fine. I heard about it from the opening song randomly popping up on my youtube feed, so I decided to check it out. Sadly - the soundtrack was the only good part. The characters are fun, but there isn`t a real plot, if that makes sense. It feels like essentially the same thing repeating itself in the middle of the series.
The soundtrack however, is beautiful. I think the music not only is really good, but also compliments the anime. Creepy Nuts did a good job.
I would rank it a 6.5 because the soundtrack is really good, animation is nice and the rest is fine.

I think 2 major things brought this show down for me
I'm not normally one to get all up in arms about the protagonist being high school aged but literally why is he 14
A show all about embracing the night life, idk, would've been cool if he was in college, that seems more like the age to embrace nightlife. Hell, I say "high school aged" but he's not even, he's literally in middle school.
Nazuna has been alive for "decades" (I thought she was like 25 but apparently she's closer to 40) and other than Akira, the other women are either vampires who are also presumably much older or Anko who is also an older woman
I just randomly got spikes of "oh yeah... he's 14" when watching the funny girlfailure vampire flirt with him and it hurt the romance for me.
Speaking of which, they introduce a…

This anime has left me speechless, and I'm not even kidding when I say it's one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.
The animation? Top-notch. The way Ko Yamori's emotions were conveyed through his expressions and movements? Unbelievable. I felt like I was right there with him, experiencing every high and low. And Nazuna Nanakusa? Oh man, her character development is insane! From her initial sassiness to her vulnerable moments, I was completely invested in her journey.
But what really got me was the storytelling. It's like the creators took all my favorite themes - music, love, loss, and self-discovery - and wove them into this stunning narrative that had me hooked from episode one. The way Ko and Nazuna's relationship evolved, amidst the chaos of their supernatural world, had me…

A boy decides to sneak out at night and finds the experience of roaming the suburban and city streets to be exciting and fulfilling, discovering that he has a great appreciation for the evening and the atmosphere it brings. In his nighttime exploration he encounters a peculiar character that will change his outlook on life entirely.
The story is contrived; the main character is a conveniently empty husk that has no apparent awareness of friendship or intimacy and lacks a fundamental understanding of relationships, despite being depicted via his various internal monologues as being relatively self-aware, socially competent at communicating with many different personalities, and being an alleged model student - despite skipping school in favor of staying up all night long to roam the street…

Yofukashi no Uta stands true by its name: Call of the Night, and I mean this not just in the literal sense but also in the metaphorical sense.
Synopsis:
Call of the Night represents an adventure into the unknown, filled with all sorts of excitements, escapisms and dangers on all fronts, whether we are aware of them or not.
To reinforce this concept, our main primary protagonist, Kou, embodies the willingness to blindly adventure into the night to distract himself from the mundane reality he's associated with, while our secondary protagonist-sometimes antagonist, depending on your perspective, represents the concept of the Call of the Night as she's a vampire who is looking for a good tasty meal and some entertainment because she's bored. Due to this, both realize that they can keep each…

Here I thought this was something new, I was having fun in the rest of the episodes until they introduce or rather forced the romance part, I didn't like it also not to mention that the MC is a simp. I give credits to them though, night time focus or night time centric is quite new in the anime, I was craving for that for ages, they did quite good for awhile there, the comedy part, the random stuff they do, that's what I like, I would rather continue it like that or create a new entire anime, a slice of life anime focusing on what things you can do in night time, but then they had to add the vampire shit, that what kills the mood for me then after the vampire reveal they had to add to forced romance though I know that it's already a romance so I expect that already so I'm not gonna be too…

It's boring to the point of irritating. Wasted potential.
As everyone else has already mentioned there isn't much plot, so it's character driven. But the characters are so f-ing unbelievable and stupid, just stereotypical dummies. I'm not going to touch on pedophilia issue, cause who cares, it's fiction. Sexualization of the vampire girl would be fine, if it reflected what she looks like for MC (sadly, it doesn't. upd: until the last episode lmao).
The vampire girl is more or less fine, imho. She is not a good person, not smo to relate to, but her immaturity is explainable: imagine, a not so clever teenage girl turned into a vampire, she's overcome by hunger and does nothing but eat (drink blood), drink beer and play around, just leading an easy life, therefore no need for personality grow…

Pink-haired goth vampire girl grooms a 14-year-old black-pilled incel.
Call of the Night is a relaxing vampire anime about an antisocial middle school student named Kou. One night wandering the streets, he encounters a mysterious woman named Nazuna, and she turns his world upside down. As Kou gets to know her, he discovers that she's a vampire who has lived for decades and has been searching for a special connection. Together, the two explore the city's dark and vibrant nightlife and discover a hidden world of insomniacs, vampires, and unconventional love.
Nazuna's relationship with Kou is purely transactional, so they say. She drinks his blood; he wants her to turn him into a vampire. The blood-sucking is played up to be sexual and embarrassing for Kou, and the joke never gets old. She…

Girl meets boy. Boy happens to be a vampire. Boy drags girl into his world of the night. Girl is unsure if she should fall in love with said boy. Other boys that are vampires appear and disapprove of said relationship. Boy must prove that he wants to pursue girl despite the taboos of his world. Now gender-flip it and you have Yofukashi no Uta.
While watching Yofukashi no Uta, I had initially thought up a review regarding the current state of wish-fulfillment anime, of shows that encourage the drop-outs of society to continue their lives in the solitude of night in the hopes that a cute girl will fall from the sky and be their manic pixie dream girl. But then I realized - this is just a genderswapped vampire otome anime! And I stopped trying to think about it too hard.
Kou Yamori is insuf…

Call of the night doesn't bear any message with it.
It's a story about a kid who doesn't to invest into building relationships, skips school for a petty reason, gets excited from walking streets at night and for equally flippant reason decides to stop being human. He'd be a good anti-role-model that just goes with the flow and does absolutely nothing to solve his problems, and does bare minimum to have fun. The anime shows MC as he is though, with no commentary at all about how he should be perceived.
The resulting show is a weird romance with 2 people who don't really care about each other more than basic decency and base needs, and grow to the level of awkward junior high boyfriend and girlfriend I suppose.
The visuals are good and dialog flows well, with nice (though very few) sound t…

Welcome to the most stylistic and relatable anime of the summer season. Call of the Night is as good as it hyped up to be. I think we all had those moments growing up where we didn’t know what our point in this world is, so with that relatable belief sprinkled in with some vampire fun, it ends up making a really good anime. From the characters to the environments, to the story, everything was done so well. It was funny when it needed to be, and did a really good job when it dealt with some serious tones. In all honesty, it really surprised me.
Art: 10
Stylistically speaking this anime had the best art of the season for me, and maybe even the best art of the year. For starters the animation was crisp, and if you weren't surprised by the good animation, the beautiful backgrounds of the nig…

Everyone has felt the feelings of being unmotivated and dissatisfied with the regular motions of life. We seek comfort in many ways gaming, watching animes, or maybe picking up a random new hobby.
Ko Yamori is much like the rest of us except he takes comfort in going out at night. But much like many things in our life, it’s not something he could do forever, in the morning, he’ll eventually have to go back into the cycle of regular life, doing the same mundane task, putting on the same mundane smile. What if he could stay in the night forever?
Comes in Nazuna Nanakusa, a full-fledged vampire. Who can turn Ko into a vampire, that is if he falls in love with her.
Call of the Night is one of the most charming shows I’ve seen in a very long time. It’s not one of…

Purple is the colour of royalty, as well as the primary colour of the Yofukashi no Uta series. Let's see if naming the Call of the Night a royalty series isn't exaggerated.
[Story - 6]
The story is basically about the adventures of the MC during the night - his experience with the night and demons. One of them is especially interested in him, and thus viewers meet Nazuna. She will be Ko's partner in crime from now on. In the first episodes, there's not much tension, action, or anything in particular. Viewers can experience beautiful city views at night and know the characters a little bit better. The plot is getting a little more interesting from the 7th episode, and in conclusion, the ending is pretty good. However, there are a lot of boring moments, that made me feel uninterested in the…

Yikes. That kinda sums up everything I wanted to say about this, but let me explain further. There might be spoilers.
It all starts when Ko, a 14 year old boy meets Nazuna, who's actually a vampire and also a bit older than him. But just a bit, because 20+ years of age gap is not much. Anyways, we don't want to dive into this subject now as there are enough people that did. So what does Ko do, you ask? He's somehow detached from the world, doesn't want to go to school anymore and kind of lost interest in life. This kid needs help. To top it all, he's an insomniac, so he decides to wonder around at night in hopes of finding some kind of meaning. After meeting Nazuna, the fun part starts. Or so everyone says, because all I see is her getting sexualized every two damn minutes and despite bei…

Monster movies has been a source of entertainment that has been around for a century. Iconic monsters such as Godzilla, King Kong, and Kajiu are recognizable by their reptuation alone. However, vampires has always been in an oddball position. There are some iconic vampires such as the infamous Dracula, but the sheer amount of vampires in the media today has been oversaturated. It's a market that hardly strikes as unique even when translated into anime. Thankfully, Call of the Night is one such show with vampires that I grew fondly of this year.
Based on the manga of the same name, we have another adaptation created by Kotoyama, who previously put themselves on the map with Dagashi Kashi. Call of the Night begins with protagonist Kou Yamori, a character with a lack of interest in school. S…

Vampires exist everywhere: history or modern, enclosed in media where depending on the medium, they're either the most vicious "Creatures of the Night" or in some cases, sexually objectified because of their predatory bloodsucking and capability to use their prey to create offspring. One case example is the ever so "lovable" but cringeworthy Twilight series that has won the hearts of fangirls oogling not at the actual vampires, but the actors themselves, because you know, it's Hollywood and ABSOLUTELY nothing about it is shameful (and yes, even 10~15 years since its release, I still hate it with a passion). Ugh, definitely more in terms of emotional manipulation.
In mangaka Kotoyama's case, it's definitely not just manipulation that he was aiming for, but paedophlia as well, concerning be…

The night is a very unexplored landscape for many of us. Some of us perceive it as dangerous and scary, and some others perceive it as a time to party, to let themselves go, and for most of us, we’re probably fast asleep. I’m sure a lot of you have experienced a time in life when you just didn’t want to fall asleep, perhaps because you weren’t satisfied with what you achieved in the day, or you feared what tomorrow will bring, but rest assured, in Call of the Night, the night is viewed as a beautiful time, and a time to release all inhibitions, a time to have the time of your life, so dream on, and imagine yourself in the wonderful dreamscape!
Tomoyuki Itamura, the director of the highly acclaimed Monogatari Series, and the Case Study of Vanitas, is back again for yet another vampire them…

Yofukashi no Uta is a brilliant tale of teen angst, depression and anxiety and one of the best examples of artistic storytelling I have seen in anime.
By now, everyone has seen Nazuna memes and gifs floating around the internet, and while Nazuna is without a doubt a great waifu with some really funny moments. What makes Yofukashi no Uta so good is how it works as an allegory for mental health issues. Ko, the MC, avoids going to school by staying up all night and wandering around a gorgeously rendered nightscape environment. On that journey he meets everything from vampire families to other students suffering the same type of insomnia. Their character interactions act as the cornerstone of the series. Each person Ko meets on his journey each night provides a unique story and lessons.

Yofukashi no Uta is one of the most hyped anime of this season. It’s not weird to have this kind of show where a guy with no personality finds a girl literally falling from the sky and then taking him into making his life more interesting, you know, the standard premise of romance anime, but this time the MC will fall in love with the girl to turn him into a vampire.
Nazuna is also one of the most obnoxious girls I have seen in recent times, don’t be fooled by how she appears as being the mature one at the beginning trying to teach the night life to Kou, she actually is childish and doesn’t take anything seriously, Kou is more mature than her. Her sex jokes aren’t funny and it is even less funny when she blushes for talking about love, how come a person that can make sex jokes blushes wit…
