The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten

The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten

Introduction

Mahiru Shiina is worthy of her nickname "Angel": she is a divine beauty loved by all, and she excels in both academics and athletics. Shiina lives in an entirely different world from Amane Fujimiya, her next-door neighbor. Despite living so close together, they have never spoken once. But their silence is broken when Fujimiya spots Shiina gloomily sitting on a swing amidst a heavy rainstorm and lends her his umbrella. When Fujimiya catches a cold the next day, Shiina wishes to return the favor for the umbrella by nursing him back to health. Believing that this would be their first and last interaction, he silently appreciates her kindness. However, Shiina—who cannot help but worry about Fujimiya's lack of tidiness and proper nutrition—begins to cook and clean for him. As the unlikely pair spend time together in Fujimiya's apartment, they explore the true nature of their relationship and the gentle emotions that emerge from it. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

If you have ever experienced a single shred of genuine human connection, "The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten" will feel less like a romance and more like a psychological lobotomy. This isn't a story; it is a meticulously crafted simulation designed to cater to the lowest form of "lonely-boy" wish-fulfillment, stripping away everything that makes human relationships interesting: conflict, personality, and reality. 1. The Protagonist: A Cardboard Cutout Our lead is the quintessential "blank slate." He has no defining traits, no drive, and no personality other than being a "lonely, messy guy." He doesn't earn anything. He is a "log" in every sense of the word. He is rewarded with a goddess-tier domestic servant simply for existing and performing the monumental feat of sharing an umbrella o…

The absolute best romance anime ever. Takes a spin on the generic trope of popular girl and lone boy by actually develop their relationship bit by bit rather than confuse and some random confession. It has no love triangle an some of the best supporting cast. Every episode left you kicking your feet and scene that make you feel a fury of emotion. The led up and development of the relationship is a slow burn leaving you for more and makes anyone wishing to be in the situation. I 100% recommend this romance anime for anyone. The mc and fmc were some of the best in romance anime and supporting cast add comedic element a states what you want to say to the mc and fmc.

Forced myself to finish this anime since I've made a vow to not drop any anime unless fully necessary. This show tested my willpower. The premise is stupid at best. There is basically no animation. I would have been able to enjoy this anime if the characters were at least somewhat realistic or relatable. The characters are incredibly bland and half the show is just them talking on a couch doing the same flirting over and over again without anything progressing. They hardly try relating to each other or understanding each other. There was no attempt at making us empathize, relate, or even understand any character. Truly a waste of time.

I really don't recommend it, first of all I am a connoisseur of romantic comedy anime with a ratio of 70% comedy and 30% romance, this anime is the opposite, 30% comedy and 70% romance, or maybe 80% bored and sleepy, 10% romance and 10% comedy too, somehow this anime is a bit sleepy, and less expressive, and especially the thing I dislike the most is that they hide their relationship from their schoolmates, only family and close friends know about their relationship, so here there is a huge element of dissatisfaction that makes this anime bad in my opinion. and of course the extreme lack of FanService... while a good element of satisfaction is when the world finds out the idol girl's relationship turns out to be dating an NPC, another thing that is not interesting is that both the MC and…

Quite boring, very little happens and it is modelling some messed up relationship dynamics. The only fun part for me was making fun of how many wordless noises the main characters made, they sounded like Zelda NPCs. If you want a good high school romance with more interesting characters and plot then maybe try Komi Can't Communicate or Kaguya-sama Love is War. As for this anime, the story was not unique and very predictable, the characters managed to be both unrealistic and uninteresting at the same time. I suppose the art was decent but they reused a fair number of settings (omg the yellow couch) and shots.

This romance anime falls on the boring side of the spectrum. The story follows Amane and Mahiru, a boy and a girl who act like a longtime couple, including a lot of staple romantic activities, while pretending there's nothing between them. This charade stretches well beyond the limits of suspension of disbelief. While the firs few episodes hold some promise, the series quickly devolves, offering little tension, even less comedy, and a lot of generic and repetitive dialogue. To make matters worse, the majority of the scenes take place in Amane's one-room apartment, amplifying the sense of repetition, especially in the latter part of the series. At some point, you can barely distinguish one episode from another. You can safely skip this one unless you're a connoisseur of the genre.

Okay, I'm marking this as "recommended" but under a very specific premise. That premise being that you know what the heck you're getting into. This show is saccharin levels of sweet, you may walk away with diabetes. But then again it doesn't pretend to be anything else. It's high-school romance at it's most "pure" form if you will. Two good people, both slightly damaged, perceived to be of different social strata, find each other and develop a romance. It's as pure and simple as that. The standard "coming to understand feelings, and communicate feelings" tropes apply. There's no great villain, standard friendships of a sort, backstory for most of the other characters is hinted at but not seriously developed, just enough to know that they're their own people in and of themselves, but their…

One of the worst animes I have ever watched, the worst romance for sure. Bland characters, absolutely poor story and dialogues, extremely predictable, boring and self centered. It pretends to be deeper than it is. It's like a young man's fantasy of what is like to be an adult with an adult relationship acting like a mature adult for their age. It's like the author had never had a relationship in his life and he's just guessing what it feels like. Episodes 7 to 11 felt like I was rewatching the same thing over and over again. I swear to god I was checking to see if I wasn't rewatching the previous episode. If you jump from ep 7 to ep 12 you won't even notice something is missing. It's only praised by people who also never had a relationship in their lives. Worst of the worst, I need to w…

Tonari Tenshi is the most miserable experience I've had watching a one-to-one romcom in a while. I don't know why, but recently shows have a propensity to cast bland no-personality doormats as the MC and have unbelievably hot girls be attracted to no one but him. Fujimiya is a dense motherfucker and bland as all hell, and his obliviousness/stubbornness is frustrating and annoying more than a charm point. That's strike one. Now his love interest (oh I'm sorry, the other person who happens to occupy the same amount of screentime as him, I don't wanna get the wrong idea), Mahiru, is a strange character who might as well be a figment of Fujimiya's hallucinations, since she apparently only has eyes for this bland doormat and no one else around her. Strike two. I'm generally forgiving for sh…

Undoubtedly an anime that is worth watching if you are looking to have a great relaxing night and enjoy how love gradually emerges from two cold characters who do not know each other. Without a doubt this can become one of the best romance anime In this anime you will be able to appreciate how slight gestures can make two people who feel nothing start to want to be closer to each other. If you really like a series where love arises from small gestures without wanting to receive anything in return and with which each chapter makes you feel great appreciation for the two main characters, you will certainly not end up disappointed with this anime.

The anime lives up to what it sets out to do, the angel next door does indeed spoils Amane rotten. Unfortunately the dialogues in this show are so bland and awkward that I had to pause the episodes frequently because the cringe was too much to handle. It genuinely made me feel physically uncomfortable. Here's an example situation of the daily lives of the leads: Amane: "Mahiro, could you please pass me the salt?" Mahiro: "Here, Amane-kun." *Mahiro's finger touched Amane's hand for a millisecond, they both blushed* Amane: "Mahiro, having you here makes me feel really thankful, if you weren't here, who would pass me the salt?" Mahiro: "Amane-kun, you don't need to thank me. I've received so much from you. Can you hold me close in your embrace, look me directly in my eyes, and head pat me w…

After watching the entire anime, I would use one word to sum it up - Terrible. I am a reader of the light novel version of this work, which I have read from volume one to volume eight. Additionally, I have also read the web version of this light novel. First of all, let's talk about the plot. It is too fast, like riding on a roller coaster. As I mentioned earlier, I am a light novel reader, and this anime should not be presented in this way. This work requires many episodes to explain the change in the feelings of both Mahiru and Amane. For example, how they slowly change from normal neighbours to a couple. However, they keep skipping the details, which makes people feel embarrassed. If I were the director, I would adapt only volume 1 and 2 in 12 episodes, because the details are necessar…

Tenshi-Sama is one of the best examples of a slow burn romance you’ll find in this medium. Extremely cute, wholesome and a rewarding watch. If you are at all a fan of slice of life or romance, this is essential viewing. Unlike the angel in its name though, it is not without flaws. Bit of a disclaimer, I have a lot of problems with Tenshi-Sama adaptation wise which I’ll get into later. On its own, as a pure anime product it is very good. Every episode will have you squealing like a high school girl and wishing you were blessed enough to find a Mahiru. In fact, it can be a bit depressing at times because of how much an idealised version of a woman Mahiru is. The english title, The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten really sums up the show. Gorgeous girl who is top of the class and idolised by…

Originally, I planned to review Revenger from this lack-luster of a season but it was so boring that I’ve dropped it after 6 episodes. What do we have here instead? Another boring romcom, of course! Otonari no Tenshi-sama ni Itsunomanika Dame Ningen ni Sareteita Ken was the highest rated romantic anime of this season and one of my podcast mate said this anime is a freaking masterpiece, so I gave it a shot. After finishing this anime, I can confidently say that this story was not a good recommendation AT ALL. But what went wrong, you may ask. Well, if you don’t want to read this review, I immediately come up with the conclusion: Basically everything. If you’re curious what are those flaws which made this series a nearly unbearable experience to watch, here are the details. Amane Fujimiya,…

Watching The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten kinda reminds me of the 'girl next door' type of media, where a girl next door transcends beauty. Or at least, they are far more appealing to the eye than anyone else in the same show. Then, the character we're specifically talking about here would be Mahiru Shiina, who represents the "angel" of this series. To put it simply, this isn't about a girl next door. This is about an angel next door, and our main protagonist Amane Fujiyama is about to have the experience of a lifetime. Based on the light novel, The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten has some common tropes viewers should watch out for. The idea of an ordinary person meeting someone way out of their league is among one of these. Furthermore, you'll need a lot of patience to embrace the p…

When I first heard of Otonari no Tenshi-sama ni Itsunomanika Dame Ningen ni Saretita Ken, it was from people that I knew who read the light novels from this series saying that it was a pretty wholesome romcom and very good, and I know I like to watch romcoms so I decided to give it a shot, but after seeing it was going to made by Project No.9 and that it sounded extremely generic to its core I started to lose confidence, and it’s good to know that my total lack of confidence in this thing didn’t disappoint because not only it looks ugly, but it is in fact generic to its core, and I’m not saying generic as an actually bad thing but in how it is implemented. Amane is the same protagonist as always, he is a sadboi who has one single friend, just that Amane has even less personality than your…

DIABETES the Animation. Oh God, does this NEVER seem to be enough! I KNOW about novelist Saeki-san's Otonari no Tenshi-sama ni Itsunomanika Dame Ningen ni Sareteita Ken a.k.a. The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten. The immaculate, well-received LN that has earned its fair share of mixed reactions of the unkempt story between the average boy and the much-adored Angel female, along with illustrator Hanekoto's very beautiful and impressive art that never fails to impress. Yet, while Project No. 9's adaptation here seems to be on the very rough side of things from cut content to the abysmal animation, the heart of the series is never forgotten, and all I can say about this is that the anime is carried by everything else except for the production. Of the synopses that I've read for this LN, Ye…

To be frank, The Angel Next Door is what every rom-com has been doing since the dawn of its genre. Make the main couple meet through the most unconventional way possible, help each other (with no intention of getting any affection), meet other friends that hang out with the main characters, have obstacles to justify the other significant to try and comfort them, and most importantly, doing things which 'friends' don't usually do in front of others. If it sounds like I'm spoiling, well then you're right. Every rom-com, including this one, plays the exact same formula, recycling the elements just to make it look a bit different or the author's take on the formula. Welcome to The Angel Next Door. As a wise man once said... "If I ever saw myself as a character in front of a screen, I would ha…

The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten sadly did not spoil me rotten; this anime ended up being incredibly dull and pathetic. The story is contrived from start to finish and packaged with bland, cardboard characters, poorly written dialogue that feels like someone tried to rip off young adult works from Wattpad, and a generic, mediocre narrative. In this regard, it is much like Demon Slayer. However, unfortunately, it does not have talented staff to turn it from nothing into something. Instead, it got one of the worst studios a light novel adaptation can get—project No.9, the bloodsucker of the light novel adaptations in the 2020s. At this point, one can start to think that they have a special unit in the studio to find light novels with the corniest dialogues in the country. The premise of…

When you look at The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten on the paper. It have great potential to be the best romance anime in this year and might even be contender for one of the best romance anime of all time. The LN of it is one of the best selling romance LN, and for a good reason. Story is so sweet and fluffy that it will make you smile and feel warm inside. Art is also great and character are likable. Well, if only they get the better studio, it would have guarantee spot for the best romance anime in this year. Unfortunately, it has one of the worst production I've ever seen in an anime. The best part of this anime is undoubtedly the romance between Amane and Mahiru. They are both likable and relatable characters who have their own problems. Amane is shy and awkward but has a kind hear…
