Gods' Game We Play

Gods' Game We Play

Introduction

When Leoleshea, a dragon god, is accidentally awoken from her sleep within a glacier, she demands this era's very best game player be brought before her. After a year of waiting, she meets Fay Theo Philus, an apostle—a human granted a supernatural ability called an Arise and thus given permission to challenge the gods in games. Fay and Leoleshea realize they share a passion for games, whether it be with cards or a battle of wits with a god. Declaring that she likes this human, Leoleshea allows Fay to call her "Leshea" and team up with her to play in the gods' games. Ever since the gods gave humans the ability to challenge them, they have promised to grant any wish after ten victories. Leshea desires to become an official god again, as she previously descended to the human world and lost her status as a divine being. Fay has only one goal: to find the woman who long ago taught him how to play games. Though Leshea and Fay quickly prove themselves to be a capable team, the gods will not allow them ten victories so easily: every game has its own unique conditions and hidden rules. Together, the duo will have to act as a perfect team to finally achieve their goals. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

The games fucking suck. Cons: One of the best parts of shows like this is that you can somewhat follow along with these puzzles. You can't here. "Here are all the rules for this game!! But there are actually four hidden rules that you will never guess, and they define the whole game." In the first game, there is one small rule (minor spoiler, but it's so ass and doesn't add anything to the game whatsoever) where you can line up people, and they'll all be converted. This rule was made just to cut time because it would have taken 10 more frames to show them tagging everyone. This adds nothing to the game. That's how most of these rules/games felt. In general, the production value is pretty shit. The characters are all terribly designed, physically and conceptually, with heavy emphasis o…

Gods' Games We Play is my third anime that is about games (after Liar Liar & No Game, No Life) and I have to say right from the start that it is probably the weakest of the three, but I still enjoyed it. After the weaker opening episodes with games like - guess all the rules, it gets going and with the arrival of Bookmaker it starts to get really fun. The characters are nice, Bookmaker's second game is great and I also enjoyed the final Dungeon quite a bit. The principles of the world are OK and while I thought I wouldn't necessarily need a sequel, now after those final "god" games I would rather have it right away.

(Watched: 4th-5th April 2025) It revolves around a bit of everything like fantasy, adventure, comedy linked with drama. The whole plot is pretty plain according to it: humans playing games against the gods. But then, it is very complicated, and it is not that easy to understand. Even at the end, some things feel a little unclear to me. And these games were shown to be not easy as well as simple; concentration is needed while watching the movie. 🎲 Shall You Watch It? I didn't suggest it to everyone; for those who do enjoy tricky storylines and fantasy/adventure empower games, they might want to check it out. Rating: 6/10 Not bad but not for everyone.

Its one anime very simpleh, but is funny. So I recomend, but don't expect a lot. Talking about the animations, is very good. The main character don't have one good personality, but the others are very carismatic. Te histori asI said is very simple. Talking about the plot, the games are very simple too, but is interessing how the protagonist solve the prbolems. And we have one diferents games in episodes, so they don't repeat. In geral the anime is simple, and I recomend if you don't have nothing to watch in the moment, and you can watch in one day, so my avaliation is 7/10. For the animation I would avaliate 8/10 Characters 5/10 History 5/10 Tematic 7/10 Comedy 7/10

Its weakness was the animation, the ecchi and some of the games themselves. 1) When talking about the animation, well it's not deplorable, but it can be improved a lot more. 2) On the other hand the ecchi, I'm just saying: either you improve the ecchi for me or just don't put it in, since it felt mostly unnecessary. 3) Lastly, talking about the games, I feel that the first two games there were mediocre, with illogical or sudden solutions that don't leave one satisfied. As for the last two games, they improved a lot, since they are more fun to watch, although the solution of the last one lacked more emotion... Well, if the creator of this work wants to revive the fandom of his anime, the only thing he should do is to add real romance between two of the characters and that's it, I can't th…

There's some true regarding a number of commercial, generic and fill-out season anime tropes about Kami was Game ni Ueteiru. The main character is generic in appearance, he's surrounded by side characters who are, of course, beautiful girls romantically interested in him at different levels, and he has average behavior seen in virtually all kinds of shows today. It doesn't go all the way through generic, but it's almost there. The series started very slow and with a boring story, I remember dropping it many times, and sometimes, when I was watching, I was so distracted that I couldn't remember half of what had just happened. What surprised me, when I started re-watching at bedtime, was that the last third of the 13 episodes showed a whole different and interesting pace. If they maintai…

Good - The audio is good. - The games are not boring. Episode 2 and 4 had a lot of action. - The premise is easy to understand. - I like the purple outlines on the characters, it makes it look like No Game No Life. - The show is silly Bad - The main character looks generic. I want my complicated hair in anime. - The main character is generic on the inside too. He has zero personality or likes/dislikes - The main character’s facial expressions are really limited. He only has the default face on all the time. - The main character is so smart that he knows the answers without any buildup and the viewer is often given no opportunity to figure it out. No clues. In episode [spoiler] how did he know [spoiler]? This is true for all the episodes except one. - None of the characters undergo any ch…

I'm mixed on this. One day, the gods were bored and decided to give humans abilities, wanting to play games with them. Each person receives a unique ability, such as immortality, teleportation, or super strength, to gain an advantage in the God's Games. The rules are simple: win 10 games, and you get a wish granted. Lose 3 games, and you can never play again. However, no human has ever won 10 games, and it's rare to even win 3 games. That is, until our main character (MC) comes along, winning 3 games in a row without a single loss. From there, they introduce a fallen god who desires to become a god again but also loves playing games. The goal throughout the series is clear: win the God's Games not for the wish but because the challenge and fun of the games are what make them worth playi…

Last year, for reasons beyond my control, I was subjected to Liar Liar, a thoroughly awful show on games that wastes half an episode explaining some asinine rule, only for the MC to pull off an asspull to win whatever impossible game he's faced with. Now, faced with a similar predicament, I once again find myself in a similar situation watching a very similar show... only, maybe this time... could it actually be kinda decent? The answer is no. As novel as the premise is (thank God too), a combination of bland characters and bad writing kills any potential this show may have. Any moment you think the show could pull off a decent gag, it ruins it by LOUDLY EXPLAINING THE JOKE or LOUDLY EXPOSITING WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE TO WIN THE GAME. I'll give the show some credit, the MC in this one actua…

ngl as i watch the episodes i starting to like pearl and its the only thing holding me to keep watching it, don't like the game rules dump and i dont like how they play the game like they are meta shts always knows a way to beat the game because it makes things boring its like they playing mini games, also the pacing their going with is like watching a reality show about people doing obstacle course like american ninja warrior, every game they do in this anime is like beating a 1 obstacle course so imagine doing obstacle courses(games in this anime) with timer is basically FAST PACING THE EPISODES, i mean in my opinion its better they do 1 game arc then make the episode more quality(like doing a plot twist or etc.. to makes it entertaining to watch), anyways what i'm saying is when they…

I really wanted to give "Kami wa Game ni Ueteiru" a chance but towards the end of the season, I was holding on for dear life wondering why I did not drop it before. This show lacks inspiration, innovation and excitement, offering little that makes it enjoyable to watch. The characters are uninteresting, especially the main character, Fay, who comes across as one-dimensional and devoid of personality or depth. He just wins game because... well... he's smarter than everyone, or something I guess. The games, which are the big selling point of this anime just feel like there are absolutely no stakes to them, because he MC will end up winning them some way or another either way. Diving deeper into the games, which are supposed to be the main "attraction" of this anime, I found them lacking an…

In a world where the gods have decided to entertain themselves, by making humans play in their games. Where humans only hope to win ten times to make a wish come true. In Gods’ Game We Play, do we follow the human Fay and the former god Leoleshea. We see them go through different gods games, in hopes of both getting their ten wins. On the way we see them meet other characters and together try and win the games of the gods. The plot throughout the show is very much built around playing the god games and finding people to join their team. It is very much linear and is mostly just about these games, where the outcome is very predictable, but the road to it is not. So the plot is not that special in itself, but if you like seeing characters working through puzzles it can be entertaining. Th…

Gods' Games We Play - Man, imitation shows that try to go all No Game, No Life-ish, just fail so badly that it isn't funny at all. We already all know what a great series of novelist Yuu Kamiya's No Game, No Life is like, there's just no need to explain that further. However, what needs to be mentioned is the multitude of imitation works like it...case in point, last Summer's Liar Liar, which was a half-ass effort in said series. If that doesn't scrape the bottom of the barrel any further, boy, do I have the perfect show for you: novelist Kei Sazane's Kami wa Game ni Ueteiru. a.k.a. Gods' Game We Play, which, believe me, is the totality of all things wrong. And you'd have to think about suffering yet another season watching the same author's works in anime form again. In the first of 3 a…
