The Great Cleric

The Great Cleric

Introduction

Right as he is about to earn a promotion, a salaryman meets an untimely demise. Taking pity, a mysterious being grants him a second life in the land of Galdardia as a teenager. Choosing the name Luciel for himself and a role as a healer, the young man sets off for the nearby town of Merratoni. There, he learns that healers are a coveted resource, yet they often take advantage of others for monetary gain. Vowing to be different from other healers, he joins the local branch of the Healers' Guild and begins unlocking his magical potential. After failing to save someone with his magic, Luciel is determined to get stronger. To improve his physical strength and hone his magic skills, he registers as an adventurer and takes rigorous training under Brod, the chief instructor of the Adventurers' Guild. Soon, Luciel gradually finds his way through Galdardia, gaining a reputation as a selfless healer who aids others regardless of expense. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

An isekai in the adventure-comedy genre, where a murdered sales manager reincarnates as a healer and goes all out to grow and develop. This anime does pretty much everything right. Tons of humor, constant physical and emotional growth for the hero, nonstop dynamic plot progression, well-justified relationships, character evaluations, a few surprises toward the end, and even top-tier animation (great movement and variety), stunning visuals, and an amazing soundtrack. I enjoyed every second of it. The plot twists make sense within the world’s framework, the hero’s place in it, and his personality. Honestly, there’s not much to nitpick here, except maybe the lack of intense drama—but that’s fair for a comedy. Just a heads-up: this isn’t laugh-out-loud ridiculous like KonoSuba. While there’s…

*Definitely* not for everyone. It starts off all weird and janky, but if you're patient enough and stick with it, it's a bit rewarding. The latter half of the season makes you want a second season. What hooked me was because the anime tackled the idea of regulation and ethics in the field of healing. Not much animes on that front. The only other anime I can think of that deals with that issue is Isekai Yakkyoku, though there's probably more than just that. Art: 6/10 It was janky in the first half but it looks like they pulled themselves together because it kinda got better in the latter half, plus they started to use some 3D somewhere near the end. Story: 6/10 First half was really weird and iffy, writing-wise. It just wasn't clicking at all with me, but I am really glad I didn't drop i…

A show about a paranoid virgin wageslave who dies and gets transported into another world with a strong desire not to die. Whereas many shows have protagonists vs antagonists, this is more of him vs himself in many ways. It's very small scale, at first, and laid back while you see the MC struggle and grow a little bit. The animation is nothing special but the manga isn't exactly a masterpiece either. It embraces a kind of charming minimalism that struck the right chord with me. It's definitely a refreshing flavor of isekai trash that exists for indulging in your guilty pleasure. The world-building and hyper focus on the MC makes it far more enjoyable than other genre slop. The biggest complaints seem to be that it's too slow or lacks some kind of tangible antagonistic element, but I think…

The Great Cleric follows a formerly modern day Japanese salaryman, who is shot by a stray bullet and dies after an important business proposal. He reincarnates into a medieval fantasy world and take on the name Luciel who chooses the path of healing but with a twist. Will he be able to save many lives with his power or will he succumb to fate a second time? Story & Character: 5/10 The story is much different from your typical isekai; In the Great Cleric, Luciel doesn't start off with any ungodly powers or cheat skill and instead has to train diligently for his powers to gradually increase. As a result, the story is more related to his experience while training to become a better healer and fend off attackers without the need for external assistance. However, despite being a very unique pl…

Interesting premise that promises a unique isekai story. Ends up being typical and honestly- quite boring. I say this as an isekai fanatic; I love isekai, but the one thing I cannot stand is when the plot is the MC training continously with no development. The first 4 episode is the MC literally training and trying to level up while the plot moves an inch. Then he moves to another city, and now he has to clear a dungeon, and of course he does (with more training and small improvements). It's literally like watching someone play a video game. I'm here to watch an anime, not watch someone play a game. It's funny cause the anime tries to reference itself that it is indeed not a video game, but that 4th wall breaking did nothing but made me scoff even more. The training arc(s) makes no sense…

Ironically good as a story that is not edgy, over the top, not about overpowered characters and not ecchi. I know I know, a shocker. Despite the "status, skills" things and the premise of Isekai it feels more like a typical fantasy which is actually a good thing. MC doesn't get anything special going on for him and doesn't have any superpowers at any moment of the story and basically is just stubborn which helps him in the long run to overcome his lack of ability. In this regard it's a good slow burn story to follow along that culminates by the end of the season. If you think about it, somewhat resembles Faraway Paladin that most people didn't like while it was an enjoyable show to watch. Production shows the lack of budget, but they didn't use any ugly ass CG so the quality doesn't jum…

No matter how many n number of episodes there... this MC will still be a wimpy pussy piece of crap till the end... It is even more irritating to hear the voice of MC's... I hope to anyone new to skip this if you can't tolerate such!!! The protagonist's constant indecisiveness and lack of growth throughout the numerous episodes make it incredibly challenging to invest emotionally in the storyline. The character's continual reliance on others for support, coupled with a seemingly perpetual state of weakness, detracts from the overall enjoyment of the narrative. The voice acting further exacerbates the issue, as the monotonous delivery fails to convey any depth or nuance, making it difficult to connect with the character on any meaningful level. For those seeking a more compelling and dynami…

Incredibly low effort anime. Doesn't feel like anyone cared about this show. The animation is really janky looking, no detail, action is fluid, but still very low effort. Characters are kind of amusing, but also kind of annoying. Also not really any depth of any kind there. Mostly the same for the story, no depth and poor world building. Pacing is meh, slow, but at least it moves. Voice acting leaves a lot to be desired, no stand out performances and I find the main character to be grating. Soundtrack is lame, not terrible, but very forgettable. Op is actually pretty good though, but the ed is meh. Overall it's boring most of the time with the occasional amusing joke or two. The qulaity is close to the bottom of the barrel. 4.45/10 Dubbed

I was honestly so surprised that I enjoyed this as much as I did and I feel compelled to write a little recommendation for those who might give it a chance and find the same level of enjoyment, and also to make it clear who this WON'T appeal to so people don't waste their time. Right off the bat, I should say that this is an extremely amateurish affair on almost every level. The writing is linear, straightforward, surface-level, simplistic, and unambitious. It doesn't have any deep themes (honestly to say it even has any themes is debatable), the writer can't really juggle multiple concurrent plot threads, there will only ever be one thing going on at a time, stopping arbitrarily to pick back up a different thread every so often, but never in any intertwined, multi-layered story. The pacin…

This was surprisingly good after finishing the first season. It’s a basic Isekai where the main Protagonist gets reincarnated into a magical world. He picks being a healer in a world where greed and corruption make things difficult for him at the start but his wholesome personality shines and he shows how things can truly change for views on healers throughout the series. He isn’t over-powered at the start but works hard and gets to a point where that hard work pays off in ways no one would have expected. I don’t want to spoil anything so my review should be vague enough to hopefully not give anything away but will entice readers to give it a watch.

Like all other Iseki's, besides a slim few, this anime falls victim to classic tropes, boring storylines, and overpowered OP. While it's a nice change of pace that he isn't overpowered from the get-go, it still plays into other classics of isekis that make it a bore to watch. I was really invested during the beginning episodes and I thought it had potential, but after you get a feel of the world, it becomes stale really quickly. It takes a lot for an iseki to be good and standout from the rest, and this anime just simply didn't have that special something... sorry

The problem with trying to review Seija Musou is that it elicits very little feeling, in that it's neither especially good nor especially bad. Trying to describe why it's so average is also difficult as the descriptions could apply to a dozen other shows, some of which aired in the same season. By now the premise is so played out it barely needs mentioning; A barely developed cardboard cutcoat human being gets transported into a typical western fantasy RPG setting with guilds, dungeons and a leveling system which serves as a lazy shortcut to let the audience how strong the characters within the setting are. To it's credit, Lucien, the main character, avoids the usual genre cliche of having an overpowered combat skill that let's him overcome every challenge with little difficulty. He does…

This is the ultimate Isekai anime. No quests, no real villain, no rival...just pure, unadulterated level/skill grinding. An entire arc devoted to nothing but spamming spells and attacks to level them up, then eating and sleeping and regenning mana. Another arc devoted to nothing but grinding mobs and selling loot to buy new skills so he can grind mobs better. And that's it. Literally. That's it. 12 episodes of resurrected in an RPG grinding. I've never seen an Isekai of such incredible purity. I don't even mind that the animators accidentally deleted the upper lips of every female character in the show.

How to summarize the show? I'd say silly, fun, innocent, light-hearted, a good albeit slow rolling story, interesting world-building, with fantastic use of amusing summary conversations between characters. I get how a lot of people want more action and more stuff to happen in episodes, but it's all relevant. The MC builds relationships, struggles internally, works hard, and desires to be a good person who can take care of himself. In a lot of shows, many of these things are glossed over or left to a montage. In this show, we see these smaller day to day struggles and efforts that the MC puts into his development. The montages are used sparingly and actually are saved for the moment when you worry that 4 minutes of an episode is going to be spent summarizing an event to another characte…

This anime really brought me a lot of different emotions. At first it seemed like just a generic isekai like all the others, but as I watched it I realized that it was more than that, even though the animation and the characters weren't those things, the story of this anime really captivated me and it was very good to follow this saga until the end. This anime could be much better if done well, but it was still good enough to touch my heart. And it was also a great refreshment from the new rotten anime that have been coming out lately. This anime may not be a 10, but it is a 10 in my heart and always will be. Esse anime realmente me trouxe várias emoções diferentes. I love this light novel (it really just gets better and better!) but was a littlest disappointed with the anime adaption as it felt really rushed, especially towards the end. Overall the art and voice acting was very good, and the story itself is summed up nicely. However, this really could have done with an extra episode or two as it completely flew through the final floors of the dungeon and skipped over crucial parts that will become key to the plot as a whole. Pacing let this down for me... That being said I hope they do season two as I'll definitely be watching!

MC is reincarnated as a healer in a world where healers seem to exploit others for their services. Just think of it as American health care meme, but in a middle ages fantasy setting. We all know how this goes. MC is "nice" and doesn't want to let people die as a healer etc.. But what really surprised me was the story and pacing. Positives 1. Actually hard working MC: Isekai garbage usually either grant OP cheat powers or just show a montage of hard working MC in the first few episodes before making him OP. But this is the first series where he actually IS weak. He starts at low level and has to grind very very slowly to grow stronger. He tries to do everything he can to get stronger. The slow pacing even makes you appreciate how hard the MC is working. And that no matter how much you r…

If you are someone who wants to kill time by watching, I think this anime is worth it. Just don't expect too much that this anime will provide a fantastic plot and an epic story. Even so, I enjoy watching this anime even though the story is predictable and too peaceful there is no major conflict that makes the audience surprised. I like the art style for the story, the main character grinding to get his power does not immediately become overpowered so, you'll often see mc doing his exercises continuously. The atmosphere around the main character has a positive atmosphere.

I'd recommend this anime. It was light hearted and had some funny moments. I like the story and the pace for the most part. I would say it was a good story and wrapped up nicely. I look forward to a season two. I'm not sure why its rated lower then a 7. I think it is a standard isekai but is a different take on it and was pleasant to watch. I think the Art was good and the concept was entertaining. I think if you think the isekai genre is played out then maybe this isn't worth your time but I think it was a solid anime that was over run with fan service like some.

Great Cleric is a tough one to rate because I did want to like it. I like the art style, the character designs and the concept of an MC who is not OP from the start, but has to grind and train constantly to improve was appealing. Sadly, for me at least, the show took 8 weeks to get good and for most people it’s just not an investment they can make. Had this show come out the gate with the energy we saw in the final 4-5 episodes, this could have been a really good show. I tend to believe the problems with Great Cleric were adaptation based since the Amazon reviews for the light novel are glowing. But, my God was this show dragged out. I’m all for training arcs and having an MC go through trials and tribulations to get stronger, but it gets to a point where it’s too much. In an anime where…
