Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill

Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill

Introduction

Salaryman Tsuyoshi Mukouda is accidentally summoned as a hero to the Kingdom of Reijseger in another world to help defend against their enemies. Wary of the royal family's true intentions, Mukouda is able to talk his way out of the situation due to his non-combat skill, "Online Supermarket," which is deemed useless. However, this power proves to be anything but useless. With this ability, Mukouda is able to cheaply purchase food products and utensils from Japan—most of which are considered luxuries in this world. As Mukouda cooks up a storm using his ability, he catches the eye of the fearsome mythical wolf Fel. The legendary beast swiftly negotiates a contract to become Mukouda's familiar, unable to resist the delicious dishes. With Fel by his side, Mukouda travels the world, earning his keep as an adventurer and merchant all the while enjoying delectable meals. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

This anime was pretty boring. It's just full of the same tropes and is so repetitive. It's not even good for watching in the background, as there's better anime for that. There was no plot and so many of the characters were annoying. Without spoilers, a lot of the characters seemed to come off as entitled and selfish. The food and art style did look nice, but otherwise, there isn't much thats recommendable. Isekai with the same tropes, characters, etc, can be interesting, but this anime didn't utilize anything enough to make it interesting. The cooking part may be unique, but the rest is generic. The story was very predictable as well. It may interest you if you like simple plotless cooking anime, but even then there's better anime out there for cooking and fantasy than this one.

This review is for seasons 1 and 2. This is a decent little show that does the anime cooking thing along with a twist on the classic isekai power fantasy. For the cooking aspect, the MC and his party fight monsters then cook up the carcass. It always consists of a few cuts showcasing the food being prepared, followed by biting into the food, making ahegao faces as they taste it, and then complimenting what they're eating with flowery language. This is fun the first few times they do it, but then it starts to drag from how formulaic it is. They do it 1-2 times per episode and it *always* follows the same formula. The retort people could give to this point is that the show has "cooking" in the name, so it would be weird to criticize how much cooking it involves -- it's the central premis…

This anime so good for you who bored watching template Isekai anime. The world have so many monsters and there's bad guys also but never intimidating. Also it's always focused on cooking and adventure. The story not deep and complex at all, it's so light and go with the flow like water in river. It's recommend to watch if you just want enjoy relaxing anime while eating food aswell. MC and his friends are so enjoying life together. Many side characters like people in many places also have kind personality, like helping, respect and not scamming. I mean, yes there's bad guys aswell but it's just like meh.. There's so many other races aswell like goblins, orcs, monsters, wyverns, etc. The main character always scared but his friends enjoy beating all of them then party eating delicious foo…

This is hard to review, because Campfire Cooking does meet the expectations set in the title, this is about a guy who reincarnated in another world and his "skill" is to access an online store website to purchase items from his original world, so he is using this ability to lay back and explore this new world. That's it, that's the entire thing, there is nothing else going on. This is just a chill anime, I'd argue that there is no action because nothing is at stake, and there doesn't seem to be any intention to put any action in this thing. This is like an "adventure" anime but there really is not any adventure, it's more like "exploration" or "traveling". It just exists and that's honestly fine I have never seen an anime of this kind. I have watched cooking animes like Shokugeki no Soma…

one of my favorite isekai anime, the story is light, and always makes me hungry when watching it. the point is this is a cooking and eating anime in another world. indeed the MC is not too overpowered, but the character development is very impressive, the story is very funny and relaxed, very enjoyable to watch. her online shopping skills are very suitable for a relaxed life in isekai, this kind of relaxed story is what I like, especially seeing people's reactions to the results of the MC's team's hunt, it always makes me happy. I hope there will be more anime like this, like the nonbiri isekai anime. I give it a 9/10. maybe later I'll give it 10/10 when the second season airs.

I’ll start by saying that I liked the anime, but to be completely honest, I have very mixed feelings about it. As a cooking anime, it’s really a 10 out of 10, or at least that’s what I think. After all, I’m not primarily a fan of cooking anime; I watched this one because it was mixed with fantasy concepts. I must admit that the concept of using monster meat or vegetables from other worlds is undoubtedly something that attracted me after watching Dungeon Meshi, but I want to make it clear that Tondemo left me a bit disappointed. I admit that the food looks very appetizing, but it treated the meat and resources of the fantasy world like any other resource from our real world. This means that the main story could have taken place in our world or in that fantasy world, and things wouldn’t hav…

The first ever Isekai anime I have been able to watch properly, thanks to the non-existence of unnecessary harems, fanservice and the fantastical plot of defeating the big bad villain or whatever! I couldn't be more grateful for the anime focusing on food. I have wanted to watch gourmet genre anime for so long - ever since Yumeiro Patissiere, tbh - and the standards it set for me have made me extremely picky. This was my first food-centred anime after fucking 9 years!! And I enjoyed myself thoroughly!! The comedy was amazing with the entertaining characters of Fel & Sui! I just can't stop my heart from doing backflips cuz of the sheer cuteness of Sui :”””) And ofc Fel and Mukuoda having these married couple vibes from the beginning adds to the comedy. LMAO. I can never get enough of how M…

I loved this show, but you know who loved it even more? My dad. He does not like isekai anime or more like any anime with a weird premise (only a few exceptions) and he always makes fun of me and my mom when we are watching them, just popping by at random moments when we watch shoujo or isekais or slice of life, and this time was no different, we were watching the first episode, and he was (not) sitting at the sofa, just standing there and making sarcastic comments as usual, but then he starts laughing WITH us instead at us. By this moment the anime had like 4 or 5 episodes (don't remember, it's been so many months since, I sorta procrastinated this review until I checked there might be a 2nd season, I literally had no hope, even less because it was MAPPA) and we binged them all just comme…

I know there is a lot of people saying that this series has no plot, but really the plot is a laidback trip through a new world with funny scenarios and great "friends". I loved that the series is focused on the traveling, the MC relationship with his familiars and the intro of yummy food. You might gain some weight for sure!!! I felt hungry after each episode! It is a low angst laidback series, so if you are looking for tons of friction and fighting for "power", this is not the series for you. So far the anime follows the manga version of the series, the light novel version is a bit less funny and there are tons of discrepancies between the manga and the LN. I found that the manga version is funnier than the LN, thus I enjoyed the anime series. The only thing I do not enjoyed so far, are…

It's great! What I like about it is mainly the positive aspects and the mature kind-hearted main character. There are a lot of wholesome and fun moments that'll make you appreciate that food is awesome, and that you don't need an overly overpowered main character in order to enjoy it. The reason I haven't given it a 10/10 is the downside - you'll probably get fat by by how delicious the food is visually displayed and expressed. I probbably gained a kilo.. or 2 and a half. Definitely give it a try. It's a bright, kind and safe material to read and will likely make your day more positive!

This anime is very solid, but under the right circumstances it can be even more enjoyable. I say that because this is one of the more laid back and chill shows out there. *WARNING* IF YOU TRY AND BINGE THIS ANIME, YOU WILL BE BORED OUT OF YOUR MIND. I watched basically one episode per day, usually before bed because it's relaxing. Under that type of atmosphere, I enjoyed it. Plot is basically dude gets isekai, but his power is accessing online shopping in another world. Because they think he can't be useful, he starts his own journy. He's also an absurdley amazing chef, so he buys a lot of otherworld food and makes kick ass meals. This draws in Fenfir, and he basically makes a contract with the legendary beast in exchange for feeding Fenfir yummy food. Aaaand they go on a journey. So yea…

Ah yes. Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill. A worthy name for a refreshing take on isekai. Or is it? I'm not going to beat around the bush. I could tell you in a 10.000-word essay written by Chat GPT that this is another tropy isekai with bland and shallow characters, stuffed into a story that can be summarized in two words that brings nothing new to the table. But I will focus on something else. Keyword: Bringing something to the table. This anime is going to drive you into insanity. At some point, I just couldn't bear it any longer. I spend all my savings and ordered a full-fledged industrial kitchen aisle and isekai-prayged that shit into whatever twisted universe this anime is real in. Here's why: The MC is the biggest doofus Isekai has ever managed to bring up. I…

A very relaxing and peaceful anime with plenty of food for everyone. Plot MC summoned to isekai, but finds that he only has a shopping skill, so he drops out of the "hero quest" and goes on an adventure on his own. He meets a fenrir (legendary beast) and basically forms a pact to feed him tasty food (made with ingredients bought from shopping site) in return for being his adventuring partner. The rest is just really peaceful exploring, fenrir hunting meat, MC making delicious meals etc... There is not plot tbh. This is more of a relaxing watch, where you just enjoy the atmosphere. The character interactions are great. Some funny reactions from characters reacting to Fenrir's OPness. Generally speaking, there's no "waifus" or romance. There are no "demons" or other villains either. Most…

MAPPA's adeptness in delighting its audience is like a master chef crafting a delicious dish. In its latest episode, the studio skillfully added scenes that weren't in the original manga, especially the part where Fer blushes when being called an overprotective "boyfriend." These creative touches are like seasoning, adding just the right flavor to make the experience even more enjoyable. The level of animation we've been given is truly remarkable, which isn't surprising considering it's from the renowned MAPPA. I have to say, I admire Ren Eguchi’' character design—especially the way he portrays Mukoda Tsuyoshi's effeminate personality, which gives off a maternal warmth similar to such a malewife. Mukoda perfectly represents the idea of "domestication," like a wild creature that's been tam…

Having a premise like "Online Grocery Shopping in Another World" sounds just as bad as "In Another World With My Smartphone" but I was surprised many times by the actual direction of the show. For one, the main character is a 27 year old salaryman and the moment he gets transported into the world, he pretty much leaves. The rest of the show is just slice of life shenanigans. There's hardly any plot, and the plot that does happen is very basic stuff, but anybody watching gets the feeling that was the goal of the show. To make a fantasy isekai slice-of-life about a guy in his late 20's who just really enjoys making food for himself and others. And the main character is basic, don't get me wrong, but he's charming in his own way. For me, what really gets me is how genuinely sympathetic he is…

Simply put, Tondemo Skill de Isekai Hourou Meshi a waste of time. Being a series made by Mappa, also being an isekai, I figured this was an easy watch. It was not that, it was just a cooking show with a wolf, cool. 12 episodes with 0 plot, basically the only fan service was bright colorful food, which is the best part of the show, seeing the food. It's very rare to come across an anime that refuses to have basic storytelling, but Tondemo Skill de Isekai Hourou Meshi pulls that off. This is the lowest effort a studio can give. A thoroughly disappointing series from such a reputable studio. If this is what Mappa is wasting time on, my advice to them would be this, less is more. Don't release garbage. Animation 7/10 - The food is drawn well, the beasts are also done well, but the backgrounds…

I'll keep this brief. Fen is an annoying glutton, Sui steals to show The cooking is great and the core of the show, but its not a practical cooking guide, so if you watch cooking shows for entertainment then you will like this, but if you watch them for the recipes, then you probably won't like it as much. The rest of this is such a generic isekai that it doesn't even try to do anything different, most of these moments are easily the weakest parts and so run of the mill generic that they are just dull as it is just going through the motions and seeking to pass the time until it can get to another section where it can focus on the cooking. The problem is, even though the focus is on the cooking, over half the time is this 'B-Plot' isekai, and if it's entirely uninteresting and pretty ba…

2nd Simple, Relax, And Laidback anime After Isekai Nonbiri Nouka Animation is fairly simple and have a good taste on my opinion Art-style on the food also looks good Not much action makes it a bit relaxing, sometimes they focused mainly on other character and developing cooking skill while they go on adventures. MC are not Strong but very reliable towards other character, but their sidekick does :D making business and relationship with other character. story was totally on the right spot of laidback anime. totally recommended while watching together or relaxing after work. Overall This anime surely will get your through towards MC and Their sidekick Together during 12 Episodes of Tondemo Skill de Isekai Hourou Meshi

There was simply no need to make Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill,(obviously a light novel you can tell by the name) an Isekai anime, It is an anime about food and Realistically speaking most food that is made mimics their real-life counterpart and the ingredients that make the Umai (tasty in Japanese) and keep the “Umami” come from Umami land. “Yeah? then why did you watch it?” Because it's an Isekai of course ...... Let's face it, This is not the first isekai food anime, I doubt any genre is left unscathed by the isekai Truck (hehe :p) so let's just jump into why this exists and Actually make a compelling watch. All food-based anime does have a general formula:- 1)Have Mascots/ Hot girls 2)Make said Mascots/Hot girls Cream themselves while eating the “very super…

This show in a nutshell, sums up this perfect quote: "We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time." - T. S. Eliot, spaking about Life, Hilarity and Inspiration, Four Quartets "Little Gidding" Pt. 5 To say that novelist Ren Eguchi's Tondemo Skill de Isekai Hourou Meshi a.k.a Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill is the now-famed studio MAPPA's first-ever undertaking of the Isekai genre, to have people say that this show is MAPPA's Peak-sekai, it's not entirely baseless at all. No doubt it is great in an overall package, and for the very first time, MAPPA DID knock it out of the park for showcasing a decent Isekai. I'm not going to paraphrase the same copy-paste tactics here,…
