The Banished Former Hero Lives as He Pleases – Review
Rating: 5/10
The Banished Former Hero Lives as He Pleases is one of those anime where the problems are not necessarily visible at first glance. The series has decent character designs and, visually, it can look quite good in certain scenes. However, once the story and adaptation are examined more closely, the weaknesses become much harder to ignore.
The biggest problem with the first season is not simply its animation quality. It is the way the entire story was adapted and presented.
Story & Concept — 4.5/10
The basic premise is familiar: Allen, a former hero who retains the memories and abilities of his previous life, is expelled from his noble family and decides to live freely. The concept itself has potential, especially because…

It was interesting at the start the development of the characters were at a good pace the feeling of the combat wasn't that good because it's afterall a one-sided fight when the MC gets in.
a few episodes in it felt good but then you go further in and it all feels rushed as if "I have to meet the deadline" and so the adaptation isn't really much but the written work and manga might be good for readers.
I wanted to just say that as my review but this review ruleset is really nagging me.
I ask you what do you really think a review is?
let me just put my feelings into it damn you!

This anime isn't bad because it has a bad story; Rather, it's bad because of how it tells the story. The single season of "DekiSoko" consists of what I'd say are two separate arcs, each being exactly 6 episodes; Because of that, the story feels incredibly rushed.
The animation while not bad or overly simplistic lacks attention to detail; Specifically, in a scene depicting blacksmithing, the blacksmith simply pounds the same spot of an already sharpened sword it cuts to black and that's the end.
Overall, the anime is far from the worst, but if I had the option id ask that this series be remade, as I really do want to see this continue, just not with the same studio.

Okay first things first, the anime adaptation is indeed ass. The animation quality is fall of seven deadly sins standard. So I'd recommend abandoning the anime and reading the manga, it's so much better, the characters are cleaner, the pacing makes more sense and you won't be constantly distracted by the choppy and distorted animation quality.
anime version 4/10 - too choppy to enjoy the story
manga version 7/10 - by no means the best thing since coke and bubblegum but it is significantly more enjoyable.
Since the platform demands more details, it's a typical power fantasy where the mc was too strong everyone got scared then when he completely his objective and reincarnated he kept his busted skills and decided to hide them from his power hungry corrupt family so he'd get exiled and not…

“The Banished Former Hero Lives as He Pleases” is what happens when a lack of writing skill is paired with lack of imagination.
This show is a classic example of wasted potential. It has some good ideas story wise and absolutely butchers them with incompetent almost infantile or cringe writing and predictable plot.
Before we start I would like to explain something. I will be talking about “plot” and “story”. Many people use those terms interchangeably. I’m not one of those people, so to make sure everyone is on the same page…
I use the definitions for “plot” and “story” as Lisa Cron describes them:
“What happens in the story is the PLOT, the surface events.”
“STORY is about how the things that happen affect someone in pursuit of a difficult goal, and how that person changes internally…

If I were to sum this anime up in a word, it'd be *BLAND*. I personally gave it a 4. It's not god-awful, but it is pretty bad in terms of story. Even I failed to see any major development, which, one could argue, is the same with other isekai. However, the MCs of other isekai simply do it better by having traits that set them apart:
- Slime Body
- Skeleton Paladin
- Skeleton Overlord
- Loli Soldier
- Fucking Vending Machine
- Kazuma
- A Sword
This guy is just a former hero who came out of retirement after promising to retire. He's an uncool Miyazaki. While his morals are in the right place and his execution is flawless, it works like a charm, but it lacks flair. It's boring.
To sum this review up, this was boring as hell, and I wouldn't recommend it if you're planning to watch something…

Another Isekai anime where the hero is too strong for no reason and the anime progresses without a background story with unnecessary and boring plots.
The only2 good thing about this anime is the opening and even more the ending song.
Slow and boring plot progression.
Very flat characters without a background story, the main thing is to push as many girls as possible into the story to please the male audience.
The first episode started out okay and I was sure it would go in other directions.
Do I recommend watching the anime? No.
There are many better anime than this.
Next time try to make more content and a quality story than just throwing in an overpowered hero and surrounding him with 3261946 girls and expecting the audience to accept it.

The Banished Former Hero Lives as He Pleases or A dictionary to how NOT make an anime.
If you ask me to make a list of things that can ruin or make an anime bad Im just gonna open Dekisokonai.
Its actually pretty impressive how everything can be that bad. There is absolutely zero good things. Characters, story , animation, fights, villians. Everything is bad.
So what is it about?
The Banished Former Hero Lives as He Pleases a story about Allen a reincarnated hero who died in his last life and want to live a happy and easy life. The world that Allen lives has a kind of a rule when someone is born they get a Gift from the gods but Allen born without the gift so he is considered a useless which actually a good think for him because again he’s plan to live chill. We learn that he has problem…

This is one of the worst anime out there. The plot is poorly written, the main character is even less likeable than normal for an isekai, the animation is only technically existent, and the designs for all but one character are bad. I watch and read almost exclusively isekai nowadays, and this series falls below par in every account, even below that of isekai cheat magician. The main character gets lots of flashbacks of times when he was treated poorly in his previous life for saving people in ways that i can only imagine means the author of the story never got to play dragonquest in his youth and holds a grudge against all heroes now. if you have a choice between watching this series and listening to someone scratch their fingernails on a chalkboard for 4 hours, i would recommend the latt…

I’m not sure why others have rated this so highly, I think even the 3 I gave it is probably too generous. This show has no plot and what I thought was the main storyline ends in episode 6. It’s a weird harem but I can’t understand why two of them are even there. Why is a blacksmith obsessed with making swords going on a journey in the first place? It’s not like she adds something other than an excuse for the weird elven forest thing that seemed jammed in out of nowhere and quickly forgotten. Then some weird stereotypical villain shows up for no reason and they continue to meander through bizarre convoluted and pointless scenarios. Main takeaway: Alan is strong and annoying useless girls like him. You’d be better off rewatching something good than watching trash like this.

"It's so bad that it's good"
A quote that i saw on the discussion page and i feel describe this series the best. I'm a fantasy and isekai lover, this anime is decent (its an overstatement), pretty chill, it does what it does, the mc doesn't care about being hero anymore and this anime potray that pretty well because the fact that the mc rarely think about it and just go with it potray how careless he is and i like it. And the bad-side is this anime felt rushed, this anime don't have any "depths", the character felt not alive and weird with barely a backstory. But overall i do enjoy this one but i'm biased to isekai genre so yeah.

I am not going in depth on this, just enough to say I am disappointed. There is a decent premise, decent plot points, even a story that could be decently told. Instead, what we get is comparable to actors taking stage directions and cues from a script in front of a green screen and they can't see any of the other characters. I didn't know it was possible, but somehow the studio has produced something in animation that has bad acting. We are all familiar with bad dubs, that's not what I mean. What I mean is that the characters in this series seem like they are acting and they all have different levels of acting skill. For nothing else, it may be worth watching to see for yourself what I mean.

its mid isekai-ish alright but slightly differs, on early half of season its all about main character story or related stuffs then last half becomes adventure slow life with the harem, a regression type anime, a j-pop kind of opening with the singer is the mc and a BANGER ASS ENDING!!! ITS SO LIT!! one of my favorite ending in the season.
ngl the last half of season becomes more enjoyable watch to me i dont know why but maybe its because theres no goal in their journey and they can talk more about personal stuffs and shts or literally they just having fun in journey?? or i just kinda like the elf girl's personality i mean she's one of a kind alright in all anime's elves personality.

I tried I reallllllly tried I gave it 6 episodes and figured I made it this far continue. The animation is horrible it looks like someone decided to draw over an anime. Literally the fight scenes and the magic power looks like some beginner self taught animation. Spare yourself the disappointment watching this while stoned still wouldn't raise this up beyond 2 stars.
The ending song was pretty great though, and I hate lise hair like did the rest of it just stop growing ugh..
The story plot and set up was confusing asf and poorly executed honestly the story could've ended at episode 7 and it would've been find I felt like everything was wrapped up in 6 until episode 7 ending scene with the character addition.

I like to keep reviews short for the sake of anyone who may read them. I usually watch most of the isekais that come out every season to try to find something good among the tons of isekais/fantasy, and this was not worth the time.
The story from the very first chapter you can tell is going to be bad. It has the typical enemies that other isekai have, but with the difference that here it was executed horribly. Several things just don't make sense, and as the story moves on, you won't feel any interest in it at all.
The characters are not interesting, and if they show some background on some of them, it is useless to create anything worth liking about them at all. If they do not appear for the rest of the show, you forget about them. Now for the MC, the voice they gave him didn't help m…

This anime tortured me. Story adaptation, art style adaptation, character's expression, and plot of Dekisokonai to Yobareta Motoeiyuu wa Jikka kara Tsuihou sareta node Sukikatte ni Ikiru Koto ni Shita were trash. I always wished that there would be some improvement in every week, but what I got was an even worse drop. And for the author, I wish that even if your next story/work gets an adaptation, it won't be as disappointing as this.
I know you must be disappointed with this adaptation. Even IMHO, if I knew it would turn out like this, it would be better if this story just to be a manga or novel only. Ganbatte Sensei.

Honest review: Don't watch this anime if don't like trashy anime. Just watch this anime only if you are bored or you have so so so so many free time.
I watched so many trash anime and I honestly enjoyed watching some of them. Trashy animes are not anime like slime or one piece, you just need to give a little attention to them.
The first episode of this anime is so weak. No hype, not interesting, and not that decent animation. A 1st episode should be great to attract viewers, even other trashy animes have excellent 1st episode.
The Last episode is so boring like the 1st eps.
Story: Generic story, not interesting at all.
Animation: nothing special. For me, all trashy anime have same animation.
Intro and Outro: nothing special
Character: Anime like this with OP MC is normal. Other ch…

This anime was really painful to watch. First couple of episodes were mediocre at best then it went downward spiral from that point each episode has 20 seconds of interesting or really crucial points rest of them are not required to keep up to date.
Story : Watching paint dry
Character Development : Doesnt exists
Animation : Bland as ai art
SFX : standart
Music : Nope
I hope this doesnt get second season. What a waste of budget it could have been went to other good mangas or manhwas to be adapted. This is the third time I was really uncomfortable to watch the anime. if you skip this you wont miss anything. No comedy no action no plot nothing interesting it was really equivalent having conversation with boring co-worker on job you cant quit once it started you need to endure it. Oh man than…

The Banished Hero is a reincarnation series that follows Alan who, in his former life was a competent hero. However, as Alan Westfeldt from a noble family he decides to live life at his own pace which causes his family to disown him. Taking this opportunity to finally live the free life Alan wanders the continent experiencing new things, and enjoys the freedom away from aristocratic lifestyle.
Story & Character: 2/10
The series tries to be your adventurous story where Alan meets new people and broadens his horizons without the need for noble family expectations confining him. However, it lacks authenticity and the story feels constructed using the most stereotypical fantasy plot devices. Each episode is a new problem that Alan says he won’t deal with but leaves it to the last minute befor…

Dekisoko - I'm struggling to say something coherent about this one.
For every good (or at least somewhat decent) fantasy work out there, there're many others trying to live up to the anime infancies of adaptation, be it a rather rough adaptation of the source material (i.e. novelist Kuji Furumiya's Unnamed Memory this season) or be it even now the platinum standards of either Frieren or Kusuriya no Hitorigoto a.k.a The Apothecary Dairies that we've been so blessed for the past 6 months. However, when you have a work so generic, bland and uninspired that got people to produce a work so heinously "adapted" as such (like good anime needs good production), this show does the exact opposite that I can't really tell whether it was intentional to create an anime that's just about as worse as the…
