When I first saw the premise of Goumon Baito-kun no Nichijou, I thought it was going to be an absurd dark comedy with a unique concept about “torture workers.” But instead, what I got was character dynamics that heavily leaned into BL vibes for almost the entire show. Honestly, as someone who’s really not comfortable with that kind of vibe, the whole experience just felt uncomfortable and cringe to me from start to finish.
The biggest problem wasn’t just the character dynamics, though. The story itself felt incredibly repetitive. Almost every episode followed the exact same formula without any real development or progression. The comedy didn’t land for me either, and the interactions between the characters started to feel awkward and overly forced as running jokes.

"Goumon Baito-kun no Nichijou" aka "Daily Life of a Torture Part-timer" is just the latest piece from Diomedea (formerly Studio Barcelona) that shows they're willing to take risks and try anything. It's refreshing in a landscape of Isekai and Shonen titles dominating the charts that some new things are getting made. Alas, newer is not always better and brave lives just across the street from stupid. That's how I feel about this 12-episode adaptation of the web manga featuring a work place that specializes in the physical torture of suspected criminals as a method to gather information, in a world where that's legal as long as it's licensed. I'd call it disgusting and dystopian but, I know it goes on in law enforcement and other uniformed services across the planet; but, I digress.

Slice of life meets torture.
Was this a bad anime? No. Was it a great anime? Not for me at least. I found it a little too slow and boring for my taste. It really errs on the slice of life side with torture as it's base for the premise. I found myself watching this on 1.5x speed.
Not sure what I was expecting without reading the synopsis but if you want a slower paced, adult cast anime, where you only ever see a little blood spatter then give it a whirl.
The art style is suited well for an anime like this.
Adding in extra characters here and there was good and they were fleshed out well.

A slice of life combined with BL, good animation and expressful characters would make you think that it would be a good combination? Well in most cases yes but the combination to adding torturing as a normal thing to do, not so much, I have no idea how someone came up with the idea to bring this to another medium that the original was but here we are.
if you enjoy character‑driven comedy with a strange workplace you would still like to avoid this one as the main work is torture.
The art style is surprisingly clean and expressive, which creates a strange contrast with the subject of the anime.

I feel like this anime is really underrated simply because there's no gore in it. That's not the point of this anime. Although the name can be a little misleading (I mean, you read "torturer" and immediately think gore and horror, am I right?), again, the gore is not the main subject here; it is more like an excuse to make things more extreme and unexpected in a certain way.
Cute and funny characters in soft and colorful scenarios talking about torturing and punishing those who are evil in gruesome ways: that's what this anime is about.
Torture is more of a funny thing.
Honestly, I think that their job could be anything related to crime or similar stuff, and it wouldn't change much of their dynamic.
The characters manage to be a bit cliché but unique in their own way. This anime like…

the animation is good so is the art style the voice cast is very good especially Mike voice actor (no English dub)
the series could be seen as yaoi but there is no romantic relationships in the series it more of guys doing interesting things series

If you're looking for a slice-of-life, mellow, light-hearted anime, oh boy, this anime is definitely for you!
If you're more of a SOL anime watcher then I highly recommend this anime. It showcases the boys at work
talking about their profession, having random conversations, their struggles, and characters development all
in a workplace vibe that's just supportive and wholesome.
The show doesn't have much of a plot since it's the boys going through conflicts which are resolved very quickly. If you're
looking for something that is the complete opposite of this then I'd suggest finding a show that is well suited to your liking.
When it comes to the torture aspect, it's only the gist of it. Everything is off screen so there are no worries unless you want that
then I am sorry.

When I read the synopsis and title, I was a bit skeptical as to what I would expect, since the title had the word torture in it. But I was completely surprised when there is very little graphic torture shown on-screen, and the torture aspect is mostly there as a conversational topic and to give the show a workplace setting to showcase the characters struggles, character development and their workplace professional development, while having a workplace vibe that is supportive and wholesome.
If you enjoy watching a slow-paced Slice of Life and Cute Boys Doing Cute Things (CBDCT), this is the show for you. If you are expecting a show with a complex plot, I'd suggest finding a different show to watch as there is not really much of a plot since the show is just the boys at work and any conflic…

If you're looking for a strictly slice-of-life, light-hearted anime with very minimal plot, this is the anime for you.
As a SOL enjoyer, this anime has the perfect lack of substantial plot for me. If you're more into heavy-plot driven or action type anime, this probably won't suit you very much.
It's a boring anime in the best way possible. There's almost no emotional turmoil within the show and if there is, it is resolved within half an episode. Since it's base media is a 4-koma style manga, a lot of the episodes are compiled of loosely related stories that take place within the plot. This is great for anyone who just wants a stress-free episode-by-episode show to watch. I'm already planning on rewatching the entire thing after it finished airing yesterday.

" Legalized Torturer "
Anime based on a workplace and unique atmosphere are very ultra rare because we usually see isekai , villainess and detective trope in most of seasonal period . Glad that we getting this kind of anime frequently these days just like how we got ruri rocks last season . Many people might think as a thriller and gore because of name so, I advice to drop down expectations because this sh!t hit different , it has a vibe which can only be understood by a certain category of anime watchers .
Plot is based on a world where torture is legalized and seen as a profession and a source of income . Our main cast has a torture agency where they interact with each other in hope to overcome their past and present struggles . The thing which I liked most about characters is a urge t…
