Honestly one of the worst things I ever watched, absolutely horrendous work that will punish you for paying attention. Let's start with few good things it has to offer before diving into the abyss.
Sound of heroes is a proper name for what it is: a story about people who fight dark forces alien to reality with music and open hearts. The whole thing with Xenos attacks is a very good setup for some drama, and the story about secret force protecting to earth and all of that. Protagonist's dramatic reality is also a very good start for the story about legacy's weight and expectations. Seyu worked as if their life depended on it, some scenes work on voice acting alone. Now, let's start with why it's a 1.
Most characters here are flat as a sheet of office paper, archetypes at most and picture…

People seem to miss the memo for this show. They think its only a show about fighting with the power of song. But if they think that, they miss the full story. It is about showing humanity can pull through together, even in the worst odds, as long as the intention is positive and true. It's not meaningless combat.
SI-VIS does go overboard with character tropes as some of the reviews have pointed out. But, they did resolve themselves over time. If you can pull through the rather excessive character trope slop of the early episodes, you get properly rewarded with the show re-railing itself. It gets back up on its feet, reducing the impact of some character tropes. It changes focus and corrects its direction and pacing around the midway point. Towards the end of the series past EP 17, SI-VIS…

Had this aired in the 2000s or early 2010s, it'd be one of the classics for sure.
The main cast is very standard in their roles and arcs, but the villain cast, while joining late, is interesting and flavorful in a way that heightens the overall show. There's respect and love put into the villains, so they feel like characters just as much as the main cast. Episode 21 and 24 showcase that, without respect for the antagonists those episodes couldn't come to be.
The animation doesn't knock it out the park 99% of the time, sadly, but the voice performances are incredible throughout. In particular, Sakura Ayane shows the best performance I had the pleasure to hear from her in Siren, and I can only hope they give her more roles like this going forward.
The twists in the script are pretty effi…

As an anime, it's entertaining. As an attempt to promote a new musical unit, it's a failure.
Si-vis started with a fairly solid first episode, introducing us to many aspects of this world: Si-vis's main band, the fight against creatures called "Xenos," and a magic system based on audience support. It even shows us that in this world, danger is real and anyone can die. After that, the series becomes quite flat. It has interesting moments and a few songs you might like, but nothing that will blow you away.
As an anime, it has interesting story points that you can find entertaining to a certain extent, especially the plot. While it's not a story you could call a masterpiece or a hidden gem, it has something that keeps you watching the episode, whether it's to hear a new song or to see the d…
