I Saved Myself with a Potion!: Life in Another World

I Saved Myself with a Potion!: Life in Another World

Introduction

Kaede Yakumo, an ordinary 17-year-old high school girl, unexpectedly wakes up in another world with only her backpack alongside her. After aimlessly wandering around trying to understand her whereabouts, Kaede gives up and decides to look for anything useful in her belongings, which leads her to discover an unfamiliar book. Inside, the book lists recipes for producing potions using a simple command word, "create," and a note telling her to think of this new experience as a game. With a clear path laid out in front of her, Kaede vows to use the potions she crafts for her survival—and hopefully find the person who unfairly transported her to this world in order to return home. Here we have another anime short, a collaboration between Imagica Infos and Imageworks Studio, which has resulted in several low-budget productions. However, upon closer inspection, all the technical aspects are well executed, with detailed backgrounds, good use of color and lighting, and consistent character designs without noticeable distortions in their proportions. By today's standards, and considering that two studios are involved, improvements in the CGI and character animations would be desirable. As for the plot, it's another adaptation of a generic isekai. However, it never feels tedious or boring. I'd say it will appeal not only to children—and not just because the protagonist is female—but also to a wider audience, thanks to the combination of strengths of this light novel ada…

its a basic isekai anime where mc has some unexplained op power. its animation isnt bad per say, but it's far from good. follows the same plot points as your average isekai so this isn't much different from other isekai. the world isnt expanded on and new characters are introduced every episode. if you turn your brain off you could probably enjoy it? there isnt much going for this, nor did i expect it to be a good anime. I also cant say it was enjoyable to watch? it was very slow paced, there is no resolution, and every problem is solved in the next scene. the anime is very unsatisfactory and leaves a lot to be desired.

Low budget flash animation show with 10 minute episodes. There's not really much to say here as the plot is simple, the animation is what it is, and the genre is Isekai. While I would never recommend a show like this to anyone, I will say it's not that bad for an isekai, and if you enjoy watching lower budget shows it's quite short so why not give it 5 minutes of your time instead of reading this review? She makes potions with isekai hacks and lives in a world that seems to have 3 - 4 unique locations. It's either something you'll sit through or it's not, and while inoffensive, it's guaranteed to make almost no impact on you and to be left forgotten after a few weeks.

For those who don't know this is a "Light Anime" not a traditional anime style we've become accustomed to over the years. The priority is lessoning the amount animation, but still telling the story. Which is great because the goal is to sell the source material anyways and hopefully develop a franchise, something most stories won't be able to do, so might as well come up with a good way to bring series which would never get an adaptation to anime fans. Just like how light novels as a sub-genre of novels are generally held at a lesser standard writing-wise compared to traditional novels, it’s the same with this new style of light anime. They aren't tryng to reach the standard of traditional anime, so it makes no sense to compare the two when it's trying to be its own thing. I have to clea…

Kaede, the main character is genuinely enjoyable and easy to like. She carries the anime well, and together with the rest of the cast, the story feels warm, fun, and surprisingly engaging. The pacing is fast in a good way. Episodes are short, which makes the anime incredibly easy to binge without ever feeling rushed or dragged out. I really enjoyed the overall presentation from the character designs to the music. Both the opening and ending songs are excellent and add a lot to the charm. Everything just works well together. It’s a smooth, pleasant watch. Overall, I had a great time with this anime and would absolutely love to see more of it in the future. Score: 7/10 Definitely hoping for another season.

This is a strange show, because I'm pretty sure there is another isekai anime about a girl using potions to survive (I Shall Survive Using Potions!). I initially confused this show with the other one. Then there's the motion comic type of animation and the half the runtime of a regular anime episode. Despite that, I find this show has more charm than better funded and better animated show of this season. It is definitely better than the dumpster fire of the third season of One-Punch Man. I really like how it's an anime about a cute girl doing cute things, and her ability to produce potions needs the tome she has to trigger the ability. It's not a superpowered human learning magic or another skill, but a marooned high school girl trying to survive in a strange world. it is a surprisingly g…

For the people calling this a slide show, i'll say there is more movement in one episode of this anime than in all One Punch Man S3. This is calm, cozy, and refreshingly simple. It follows a girl living a slow isekai life selling potions, with a chill atmosphere and gentle storytelling. The plot isn’t unique and the characters are straightforward, but that simplicity works in its favor, making it relaxing and easy to enjoy. It's also a 12min episode so its an easy watch. While the animation is clearly low-budget and the episodes, the art style still fits the tone and doesn’t ruin the experience unless visuals are a dealbreaker. It’s a comforting, laid-back watch that doesn’t deserve the harsh ratings, especially if you’re just looking to unwind. More of these please!

Plot-wise, it is far more appealing to me compared to other isekai that have a trope of collecting a harem. It is appealing to me in a way that it takes time to develop the character throughout the episode, not rushing its plot, where Kaede still needs to get accustomed to the situation she is in. I love Kaede as a protagonist; she reminds me of Myne as a female protagonist. Both were innocent and kind-hearted. In the later part, where she is introduced to Karudeno, I find her as a complement to Kaede, which can be easily exploited in that situation. Karudeno acts as a practical measure in teaching Kaede. All in all, good characters so far; they were cohesive and did make sense in the story. Animation-wise, honestly, I don't mind the animation, given how I know how hard and time-consuming…

Super Important thing - it is Light Anime not Anime, and with this in mind it is very good, relaxing and ~cozy series and we lack indication, separation and term recognition of Light Anime on the MAL - as Light series 8.5~9/10 as fully-flagged series 3~4/10. I give it a try and somehow it was able to catch me and.. HELL, I was really enjoying this. And then low score on MAL hit me, at first (or lower then I was expecting) but objectively indeed, the quality here is cho cho poor. The episodes are short and the animation is almost non existing (like in certain abomination with bald superhero)... although thinking on it and making small research - it it's not quality as the very low budget, and within that budget the execution is sufficient, fitting the story even. And still with great voice…
