Honestly, this is one of those anime that really surprised me with how much I ended up liking it.
Story-wise, you could call it basic, but it’s a kind of random basic — like, imagine people fighting cockroaches on Mars. That alone makes it hard to take the anime seriously, especially since it doesn’t take itself seriously either, which is why you end up really enjoying it.
As for the characters, they only really fleshed out a few of them (if you can even call it depth), and the rest are basically just tools to move the plot forward.
Now for the art and animation — and here I have to give the studio credit. They managed to hide their lack of smooth animation by playing with editing tricks: fast cuts, quick zoom-ins and zoom-outs, and even some visual noise effects here and there. All of t…

Well, this has been on my list for a very long time. I have also not watched any anime consistently for about a year now and I AM BACK BABY! So, I wanted to start with something that been lingering in my ever expanding list for a while. Enter, Terra Formars.
I'll start with probably the worst part about it, the music. It's bland. Very bland. Ideally in any form of story telling medium with music, it must be used to service and expand the experience of the visuals. Here in Terra Formars, it's just there, like a crap conservatory, it's there, but, makes your house look a little rubbish and doesnt really serve it's purpose, it's cold, it's lifeless and really basic. This show really would have benefitted for someone really thinking about the music, because story wise, it needs it, and speaki…

What an odd piece. Unique in the sense that so much filler focus wasn’t used in place of exposition. The story is bland and goes absolutely nowhere yet following the flashbacks to fill in blanks wasn’t all that terrible. A lot doesn’t get explained and nothing becomes deep on any level. All of the characters are one-dimensional and get a pretty straightforward backstory. That said, it’s an ok little casual flick with a tinge of world building. The last episode is just action movie balls to the wall crazy shit. It’s like they knew there wouldn’t be a 2nd season and just threw cool scenes in right at the end it go out with a bang. Maybe that was the original intention. Also pretty gory. The art style was fine but nothing special. Definitely not low budget.

The plot shows promise, drawing one in with its intrigue, but unfortunately, many elements fall flat. The only driving force seems to be the question of "how did this happen?" There is definitely some dark politics at play behind the scenes, and the concept of futuristic gene modifications adds an intriguing layer.
However, the fight animations lack fluidity, appearing rather stiff, and character development is almost non-existent. This makes it hard to form attachments or feel the impact of their demise.
Overall, it's decent, but it lacks that spark of greatness. Personally, I wouldn't recommend it to others. A waste of time, in my opinion.

Terra Formars shows promise with its diverse cast, action-packed scenes, and a storyline that gradually builds interest. However, it struggles to establish meaningful connections with its characters, resulting in uneven development and a narrative that feels more like setup than substantial progression. While some characters receive adequate attention, others remain underdeveloped, limiting emotional investment. Despite these issues, the series gains momentum towards the end, hinting at deeper plotlines and mysteries. Its strength lies in its action sequences, delivering excitement, intensity, and brutality; although the animation leaves room for improvement. Terra Formars offers a blend of promising elements, yet its narrative structure leaves the impression that the entire season serves…

Although it's one of my favorites; there is one big reason it's not a 10, too many flash backs. Get ready for that before starting this series. The flashbacks themselves are written in great fashion; it just always ruins the momentum of the main story, like getting a commercial when the show is just about to get to the good part. It got to a point where it would make me curse out loud sometimes.
It's still a favorite because of it's unique premise and great characters. You're on Mars with them most of the time and as episodes pass you realize things aren't much better on Earth either. There's politics involved yet for those who don't like that sort of thing it doesn't get too much into it as you may think. Just enough for context and added pressure on the stakes.
You won't get the impact…

t's really hard for me to find an anime that interests me. I usually watch 1 or 2 episodes daily, but this time it was different. I watched Terra Formars in one day and I really enjoyed it.
The plot is simple, but the show is still really interesting. I think it is just satisfying to watch these violent scenes of murdering croaches. I didn't pay attention to bad storytelling, worldbuilding, or character designs (which I don't think are all that bad). Things like art, sound, or story are average, but enjoyment is still outstanding. I feel like this anime is totally underrated. I recommend it to everyone who doesn't give a fuck about meaningless details.

Terra Formars is about humans finding a cure for an alien virus on Mars occupied by cockroaches. That's the basic plot of it. The anime itself shows very few things that led up to the present situation and has even fewer episodes where the plot could be seen moving forward.
Let's start with the plot of the anime. For once I thought it had some great potential that was wasted completely over useless character development that has nothing to do with the plot or the anime. They wasted one too many episodes on subplot romance and making emotional connections rather than explaining the story a bit more accurately and detailed. The anime also had many unexplained things and certain visible plot holes making it look really bad. The art was not very satisfactory and the animation was basic and f…

To get this started, it takes a lot for me to want to give such a low score to any anime. I find enjoyment in almost any of the shows that I watch but there was so little to offer from this one that I couldn't bear to give it anything higher.
This anime has next to no story whatsoever, it's just blind gore and mayhem that isn't executed properly at all. Government conspiracy, military tactics, weird grabs and trying to give characters cool abilities that ultimately lead to nothing memorable or interesting whatsoever.
The most redeeming quality that this show had in it, was a single scene of seeing a guy get his entire spinal column yanked out with his head (I'll give it, that was a cool scene.) But even then I can't fathom finding any total intrigue to this anime, it feels like it was…

Now, alot of people give this anime hate for no good reason, i understand people dislike season 2, but i'm here to talk about season 1
Season 1 is a perfect anime in and of itself, it has a very good plot that is semi sorta probable for us humans, where earth is overpopulated so we send cockroaches to mars to terraform. it ends up failing and we send super soldiers to find a cure for a deadly virus the roaches somehow got to earth.
that's the plot, now for the good stuff. the art style is amazing, i love it and it has a unique touch.
the music is well placed and again also very unique, it has shocking and emotional moments that are very hard to find in other anime. There are a few scenes that i would place in my top 10 animes moments of all time, and i have VERY high standards for anime.…

to be quick and honest the story is so creative and amazing how they came up with it , one thing I didn't like is the repeating of the same fights , literally only people fighting cockroaches and that's it .
I was hyped for the firs 5 eps but then it starts to get boring they are repeating the same fights over and over , I would say though the art was amazing in this anime and I don't understand why many people hate it , and I really enjoyed the creepy ass cockroaches I think the anime is a bit underrated it needs to get at least more famous , but for the overall rate I see it's perfect .

Let's take them one by one and i will explain why the 5/10.
Story: 3/10
The story in little words is that people years ago in a try to colonize mars left cockroaches on it's surface , however cockroaches managed to adapt. Years after due to a virus people had to travel again to mars for answers . Two crews had already died and our story refers to the third attempt. This time they also sent some modified humans with animal's powers.
The story is as random as it sounds. It's like someone dreamed about huge cockroaches taking over the world (many of us bug haters probably have dreamed too),buffed them as much as he could and decided to throw many other ideas as well to make it work. But in the end, it did not.
Exactly because it is chaotic. The only way I see this, is as a troll/ joke atte…

I find it difficult to understand that people give low marks to this good anime. Although it is true that it does not stand out for its plot, watching this series is a way to spend an entertaining time and be aware of the following episodes.
- The plot is simple, but unusual. It moves away from the stories of the anime of now.
- Various characters appear, each with their motivations and concerns. There is variability.
- The sound effects are quite distinctive, and that's cool.
- Some chapters are quite good, leaving you wanting to see the next one.
The truth seems to be a pretty underrated anime but I highly recommend it. If you like action, gore, and a bit of drama, this anime is a good choice.
I hope I can see more dubbed seasons!

Fuck, man.
I..., yeah.
I am writing this segment in order to fill the space required of me to post this """"review"""". I was unreasonably well entertained by this show, so much so that i ended up wanting to read the manga. Even after spoiling the whole story for myself on the way, because i couldn't take it anymore.
It's Cockroach Callisthenics, Attack on Titan, Mars of Destruction, the Power Rangers and my 7th grade OCs all in one. What more would a growing boy need? I could say, that Terra Formars has changed my life: even now, I'm listening to Amazing Break as I write this garbage.
The basic premise of Terra Formars is, that it's a collection of flashbacks of the many characters in it's story. This is sometimes interspliced with cockroachmen killing or being killed in surpris…

Terraformars, Sagasu Yu & Tachibana Kenichi (2014), at least for its first season stands out, for a relatively new studio, with its hard and gruesome stylistics despite its numerous plot holes. The stylistic and cinematic aspects were a large part of the appeal, on first watch. The formal elements of sound, mis-en-scene, camera work, and editing, all resemble an apocalyptic or dystopian style. The visual and aural motifs (the black swirls resembling swarms, the ringing synthetic music, the conflation of a lost past and lost present) are cinematically superior to most 12-episode science fiction anime. Moreover, the gore is realistic and aurally accurate, as in the scene where muscle fibre filled the frame as it stretched and tore visually and aurally. Rather pleasing: the uncensored version…

Note to self:
PROS
-diverse character traits
(We are shown many different cultured characters and builds, which is interesting that they focus on different cultures (e.g russian, USA, germany etc))
-interesting plot concept
(The idea that there is a incurable virus on earth due to an infestation of roaches left on Mars sounds pretty interesting, furthermore requiring a team of powerful individuals try to collect samples from now, evolved and intelligent roaches... sounds intriguing and scary at the same time.) CONS
-the creatures seem to be socially unacceptable
(Roaches appear to depict dark skinned humans too much)
-too many main characters
(There are way too many main characters that it becomes difficult to understand or become emotionally attached to them, also killing main chara…

This first season of this anime, is unique from beginning to end, they do a very good job of engaging and trapping the person who watches it, each character has his or her own amazing personality traits that make them a great and well rounded character, this anime was very well thought out and has much detail into it, and each character has their own unique powers, that has each a strength and weakness, as well as it's own limit to how much each person can stand, like stamina for example, some characters last longer then others in terms of how long one can be in combat.

As you can see, by comparing the average score of 7.12 (time of writing) to most of the reviews giving it a 3 or a 2, people don't know how to write reviews. Therefore, I have taken it upon myself to write a review which is truthful and actually gives an honest impression of the show. So without further ado, let's get into it. (This is will a quick review, where I cover the basic categories).
Story: If your a space enthusiast or just love the survival genre then O BOI does this show cater for you.
Art: literally the standard for anime nowadays, But the gore scenes are done perfectly
Sound: Absolute bliss, the opening and a classic, the sound of bugs getting squashed is amazing and never ceases to disappoint
Characters: They're more or less average characters, with most of the major ch…

Terra Formars is a solid anime with a very unique set of story, settings, and characters. For those who like a dark and gory story(like me), you will love this show.
Personally I wasn't accustomed to the art style of the show and its occasional switch to CGI. But I soon came to love the art style and wish that more anime used this dark/semi realistic art style.
Speaking of realistic this anime is brutal when it comes to killing of characters. By the first few episodes I came to realize that no character(Except 1) was safe and it showed the power of the roaches. The writers also did some great research on the bugs which play a central role in the story. I thought this was pretty interesting and just added onto the realism of the anime which I loved.
In my opinion almost all the character…

This is trash. With some enjoyable elements that do not save the anime in the end.
Detailed breakdown.
Story: 1/10
The story is centered around humans being murdered by humanoid cockroaches. On mars. And then Humanoid cockroaches being murdered by humans. There's reason for everything, but it pretty much doesn't matter.
The story in the end follows an incredibly boring pattern:
1. Introduce a character
2. Murder them horribly. 3. Spend half of episode depicting their grieving friend murdering cockroaches. While there are flashbacks of their past.
4. Murder somebody else, then repeat the scene.
On occasion it throws some trivia about insects at viewer, which is read in a cheerful announcer voice. But in general, everything is drawn out, overly long and not very good. Basically, in teh e…
