"Knights Of Sidonia"
I always feel ashamed when many great and legendary anime goes under my radar . KOS is one of them . Although animation doesn't matter for me but still I ignored KOS for many years just because of Heavy CGI use . So, don't let CGI bait get you because story is fucking cool and engaging as hell .
It's always a joy to see some good mecha fighting sequences and likable character dynamics . The concept isn't new and many things are inspired but the thing which matters most in dystopian anime is execution and it's perfectly done . The thing which I liked most about KOS is that plot armor doesn't works here If you mess in war you gonna die next second . 100 % recommended if you like dystopian or humans vs aliens type shit .

The 1st season highlights Nihei's strengths as an author: world-building, a dark atmosphere, cool designs, and a plot full of mysteries. Encounters with Gauna often resulted in heavy casualties, making each battle very suspenseful. The romantic element in the hero's arc adds psychological weight to his war against mysterious aliens. Usually, I'm not fond of fully CGI anime, but Polygon Pictures did a great job adapting worn-out ship environments and mecha designs. Action is fast, intense, and explosive. My favorite parts are the synchronized Garde formations used for space travel and combat. Character models look somewhat clunky, though. Music stands out with the award-worthy, catchy opening theme. This song is such a banger - it turned into a Knights of Sidonia anthem played during every…

It not that often that we get a decent true "Space Mecha vs Aliens” anime, that isn't connected to the Gundam-verse. Knights of Sidonia works to scratch that itch without forcing you to dive headfirst into the chronological mess that is the Gundam series. If you prefer the militaristic dogfight style that space Mecha anime is known for with modern day animation fluidity; and a mature engaging story that keeps you wondering "How are they going to get through this fight, without everyone dying", tons of near misses and a greater overarching plot of something nefarious is going on behind the scenes that everyone's trying to hide. This series would make a solid recommendation and a good watch for when you’re in the mood for something with a nice premise and solid action.
Now that the TLDR is…

I don’t write reviews often but I really felt this deserved one. Knights of Sidonia is really an underrated anime. Many people were turned off by it due to the cg animation. Those that were really should give it a chance. The animation style works great and looks really good. The fight scenes are awesome and fluid and the sound design is amazing. I loved the story and even though im not the biggest fan of mecha, it really became one of my favorite animes. Is it a 9/10? Maybe, to me it is at least. I’m not sure if others would rank it so high but it is atleast a 7-8/10 to those who gave it a chance. I highly recommend.

Finally, I can give this marvel another look.
Started it way before I had any media literacy. The fights were incomprehensible, the plot didn't make sense, I didn't understand some characters and their actions, and this is in Nihei's safer works. As of now, this is a gem of an anime.
Deep Sci-fi, something I've been craving for a while. Concepts of immortality being commonplace, the morality of space warfare, the pettiness STILL present in those times. How the context builds each person living in this world. Things like third genders, biological advancements. Even photosynthesizing, having a stigma around doing it with other people. It's in the details, and there are so many greats sparred around this story.
That's not the plot, though. Gaunas. Old Nihei concept. The same name has be…

tl;dr -
The series may have a few redeeming qualities, but overall, it falls short of what it could have been. The plot is too convoluted and relies too heavily on cheap plot twists and overly dramatic fight scenes. The characters are one-dimensional and lack any real development. The animation may be nice to look at, but it's not enough to make up for the lackluster story and characters. "Knights of Sidonia" had potential, but it was squandered by the need to appeal to a certain audience, resulting in mediocrity.
Story: 2/10
Characters: 2/10
Sound 4/10
Art: 7/10
Overall:4
Real review:
There are a few moments when the series exceeds its own boundary with its utterly nonsensical plot, and outlandishly underdeveloped characters. Essentially, the series seems to cut corners in developing its…

Sidona no Kishi, was originally an anime I did not have much hope for when I first heard about it. I figured it would be like some of the gory or horrific animes like Shiki, Tokyo ghoul,Ghatz etc but in a three dimensional font in space. However this anime was successfully able to invoke a true sense of fear, worry, and sense of impending doom. I wasn’t even expecting to care about the pilots at first. Yet when the Gauna attack, it completely change my attitude towards the show. So I stuck with it, and I’m doing so the more and more that was unraveled more and more I couldn’t look away. I was horrified play some of the twists and turns in this anime, and the way that the Gauna slowly began to bring an uncanny valley to my mind. Word cannot express how I feel about what happened to Shizuka…

Knights of Sidonia is an interesting mecha and space scifi story that makes somewhat polarizing use of 3D animations.
Animation / Art / General Visuals - 8/10
-----------------------------------------------
There's no way to get around the show's extreme use of 3D visuals which can be a little polarizing. The scenery and battle scenes are undoubtedly very impressive. There's great attention to details, and the 3D style is very suitable for things like battle mechs.
However, there's also no denying that the 3D style is far less suitable for characters who come off looking like a bunch of baby faced clones with very awkward animations. It is very difficult to tell characters from one another to the point where hair colour or service numbers on uniforms end up being your go-to choice to f…

Great mecha anime, although 3d characters faces are not that good, but you get used to them. Mechs design and animation are pretty decent.
Story is mostly awesome, but after 6 or so episodes author couple of times (well, more than a couple, but at least two times was just super bad) sacrificed common sense in favor of making plot twists more dramatic. It is an outright insult to the viewer's intelligence, when in a military setting one pilot betrays another over the comms. HELLO THEY HAVE VIDEOLOGS, DO YOU THINK THEY CANNOT TRACK "PRIVATE" AUDIO TRANSMISSIONS???? Before this betrayal, it was even said that MC logs was used in an educational program, which means there are not only video logs, but full blown 3d replays for every craft. And there was no consent to take or analyze them. I can…

tl;dr: A pretty boring cast taking part in an exciting conflict in a really interesting world.
Sidonia is an interstellar seed ship that escaped the destruction of Earth at the hands of the alien beings known as the Gauna. It contains what is essentially an entire city and the infrastructure to sustain it. However, hundreds of years later Sidonia is far from safe, still running from the never ending threat of the Gauna. Sidonia possesses incredibly powerful weaponry capable of destroying entire planets. However, this weaponry is useless against the Guana who can recover from almost anything. The only thing that can kill them is being stabbed by Kabizashi, spears made of a strange and very limited material found in a mysterious structure floating in the void of space. Thus, to combat the G…

A very good series, there are a few things that bog it down. The series is a bit slow to start, but it progresses and gets better and better, the internal politics district from the story line and take it in directions that lead nowhere.
One small irritation is that they make the main character about as smart as a brick (which is pretty boring and a cliché). Another cliché is the casual and violent assault of the main character by almost all the women. Its not very funny. Otherwise its been a fantastic series with lots great things. The plot, the story line and the character development are all pretty good. I am also pretty happy that this isn't solely a anime with children in it, you have actual adults and people of many different ages.

Short Review: (mostly spoiler-free)
Knights of Sidonia Season 1 is one of the best traditional alien invasion/post-apocalyptic sci-fi action shows. Watching the first season is actually quite a unique experience, as my enjoyment and expectations swayed quite violently. I am not sure about a few elements and creative choices, but other than that, this is a white-knuckled thrill ride from beginning to finish.
Baseline quality: 9.2/10. A great 2.5D animation and a mostly faithful adaptation from the acclaimed mangaka Tsutomu Nihei's 2nd most famous work. The highly dynamic and cinematic space battles alone made this anime great, not to mention other thoughtful details.
Pros:
+ World Building. With Tsutomu Nihei behind the original manga, a very detailed sci-fi futuristic setting with i…

I Thoroughly enjoy Knights of Sidonia, though the anime is a 3d CGI the story makes up for it, the sci fi and art style that is in this anime is fantastic and truely artistic. This is one of my top favorite animes, the story, the art, its amazing. Read the manga too! The main character does have a sort of, I will always save the day fallacy but its still an enjoyable experience. The art style of the inside of the main ship Sidonia is truely unique, the sort of cards that play in the middle of the show at the half way point are from the manga, but the art itself is good and it shows little tid bits of the ship and places of Sidonia.

I know its kinda late now 2020 but i just know it just now
Actually it from a recommend on youtube, the scene of a hero and a monster, seem interesting. Good, and its mecha genre, long time of me no mecha.
The film itself quite good but if you love it more the more it'll hit you hard. Sidonia have very twisted ending ever, Omg it hurt so much!, From the beginning i thought Sidonia maybe go harem end or at least emotionless Hoshijiro is better than this...Sigh. Recommend for anyone intended to read manga.
From my perspective from the original, the manga and importantly the story
Art (7/10):
The CG can't impressed me of course im classic viewer, like some of many out there. But Sidonia good at emotionlize characters mood, feeling and sensation and nothing much to say.
Sound (7/10):

Before I started this series, I tried to read the manga. It was very confusing as if things happened between panels with no explanation, the series is much more streamlined. There was never a point when watching it that I was confused, it did leave a scene that happened in the manga out though.
It was from the first volume, where they have dinner, just felt a bit weird to be left since everything else was adapted.
I really enjoyed the show, it was very character driven with cool action scenes. I love the fact that main guy doesn’t do much and basically gets a harem, thankfully it’s not the annoying kind. Each girl brings something to the table and their interactions are quite amusing. The action scenes where good as well, most of time when you get a series animated like this, the fighti…

I used to love Knights of Sidonia. This is actually the first anime I watched excluding Naruto dubs from when I was in elementary school. So, I'm gonna talk about that initial experience and how I think about the series now. And, I'm gonna be casual about it.
So, I first tried the sub for this show and the voices sounded so weird that it made me laugh. Then I tried the dub for this show ... and it sucked lol. So I stuck with the sub (sorry for fans of the dub, that's just my opinion). I thought the animation was a bit weird at first, but it seemed to flow naturally for the most part. So, I didn't really mind.
The setting was post-apocalyptic science fiction and not at all like most narratives from this genre. It was unique! I was eating it up! And if you don't know, the premise is of a w…

Sidonia no Kishi (2014)
What a show. Absolutely one of the great Mecha shows.
Simply on the premise of humans have evacuated our system due to a monstrous enemy much like the Flood from the Halo series in seed ships. Hundreds of ships all sent off in different directions to find a new home and safety. Hundreds of years later we have Sidonia one such seed ship progressing on its journey. A boy living in the depths of the ship seemingly in secret comes to the surface to find a civilization. He is thrown into joining them and has great abilities to pilot a Mecha that he has trained his life for. Thus the journey of Nagate begins.
One thing to bear in mind is Shizuka Hoshijiro who is by far in every circumstance best girl. Well the show knows how to break your heart but not so at the same…

Let me get this over with first:
Instead of the common 2D art style we know and love, this
series uses 3D CGI. Some viewers may dislike 3D CGI anime
and that's perfectly fine, in my opinion the option of
going 3D opens up many opportunities (e.g Characters have
free flowing animation instead of reused frames played over
and over to create motion - This may be the best positive
for opting in using CGI for an anime) However, in saying
that the option of pursuing a 3D art style means that
not only are the surroundings/scene low poly/texture, but
also characters and humanoid mecha in this series - I
believe this is the main trade off with this series opting
with 3D. Overall, I really don't care about art style 2D/3D
as long as the characters have somewhat of a nose.
Characters with…

Sidonia no Kishi, or Knights of Sidonia, is an alternative future where mankind flees like a pussy from an ever impending extinction.
Straight off the bat, I would like to say that Sidonia no Kishi has a very interesting and eye-catching idea to the whole show. The way humans live in this O'Neill cylinder-ish space station and that there are many different layers of the station. Also, clouds and lakes are even included to make it seems as if it is Earth. Kinda reminds me of Made In Abyss. However, the flaws of the show are quickly revealed as the show progresses in the first few episodes. The pacing, planning of scenes and the execution of scenarios are utterly horrible and butchered. When I notice this from the get-go of the first episode, I was deeply saddened and in a state of anger an…

Knights of Sidonia:
"What an incredible journey it has been". I would say that I have watched enough anime to the point that I can have a valid view on a series and after watching a myriad of anime from garbage to great, this is by far one of the greats.
I have just been watching seasonal anime to the point that I just couldn't anymore, with horrid communities forming around good anime, tainting it, therefore, I decided to take a break and watch something I had not thought about, something that peaked my interest that was rather under the radar or "underrated" and so Polygon Pictures take on Knights of Sidonia was my weapon of choice.
I have done many reviews on first episodes and Knights of Sidonia has a pretty solid one. It introduced us to a rather bland character who is fleshed out base…
