The Great Cleric

The Great Cleric

Introduction

Right as he is about to earn a promotion, a salaryman meets an untimely demise. Taking pity, a mysterious being grants him a second life in the land of Galdardia as a teenager. Choosing the name Luciel for himself and a role as a healer, the young man sets off for the nearby town of Merratoni. There, he learns that healers are a coveted resource, yet they often take advantage of others for monetary gain. Vowing to be different from other healers, he joins the local branch of the Healers' Guild and begins unlocking his magical potential. After failing to save someone with his magic, Luciel is determined to get stronger. To improve his physical strength and hone his magic skills, he registers as an adventurer and takes rigorous training under Brod, the chief instructor of the Adventurers' Guild. Soon, Luciel gradually finds his way through Galdardia, gaining a reputation as a selfless healer who aids others regardless of expense. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

The Great Cleric is nothing special to be honest but I mean that in a good way. It felt like a good paced Isaekai that felt enjoyable all the way through especially the ending. I hope this show gets a season 2 because the world plot was just getting started. If you like Isekai's you'll most likely enjoy this one if not it may not be for you. The animation is nothing insane but it's not bad either, the only thing I was yearning for that this Anime lacked a bit of is character development. I still really enjoyed it so it's an 8/10 for me :)

Well this is better than I expected. I know that it's not quite a OP hero story, but it does feel that way considering how it frames the main character's achievements. But I think that's also a hint of why this anime feels fun and fresh. It actually does show the MC struggling to do a lot of things and having to work hard to learn from the people around him. It also makes the OP stuff that he's able to do feel more memorable by contrasting it with his lesser qualities, while still making his OPness silly and entertaining to see. I also like the direction they went with the MC's personality. He's a softie hard-working masochist twink with enough kindness and decency to reject for-profit healthcare and use his powers generously. It makes sense that he's so beloved by everyone, but it's not…

Slow burn with lots and lots and lots of training sequences before he gets strong. No ecchi. Definitely not everyone's cup of tea. The biggest point of the anime is for you to sympathize with his hard working attitude. I don't hate that concept but I also don't particularly love watching the character training for more than half of the series. Love the concept of greedy healers though. As well as the adventurer vs healer. Wish they fleshed that out more. All in all, not bad. But not enough for me to continue to season 2 or to recommend to others.

I enjoyed the underlying power systems in this show; the MC's slow, methodical grind in acquiring skills, power, and gear scratches that particular isekai itch for me. The world-building is decent and there is satisfaction in watching him grow stronger and more knowledgeable. The problem is the show constantly undercuts itself by unrelenting making the MC the butt of every supposed joke. He's manipulated, mocked, laughed at, exploited, beaten, and isolated by the people who supposedly care for him. Its like he's trapped in a manipulative, emotionally (and sometimes physically) abusive relationship with the entire world and every person he meets. Basically it's like he's getting kicked in the balls and hit with pies to the face from every person he helps. I guess there are some people out…

The entire season feels like equivalent first 1-3 episodes of a new series. Up until the last episode it feels like nothing really happens. I know some appreciate that the MC isn't some OP out the gate reincarnate with some crazy cheat ability and many see him as slowly working his way up to being more powerful. Though to me it seems more like the show wants you to believe that is the case, rather than it actually being true. Regardless the anime is overall extremely bland and rather dull. There is nothing that stands out. Nothing was particularly bad or good. To be honest everything about the anime was just fine and none of it was bad. However even in 'bad' anime there can be some parts to it that stand out as good points, things where I can say "yeah, this anime was bad but at least they…

Definitely not for everyone, but I think it's one of the funniest isekai out there. If you're just here to watch people kill monsters then avoid this anime, but if you want a lighthearted show with good character training (which is basically everything this anime is about) then this is a great anime for you. Story wise, the series barely mentions anything but the world is surprisingly pretty deep. The plot, though.... is 5% action, 95% training. But this is one of the better training anime, we can see how he's slowly but surely improving his stat and skill. as for the graphic, you watched isekai. You don't expect anything from it

An isekai in the adventure-comedy genre, where a murdered sales manager reincarnates as a healer and goes all out to grow and develop. This anime does pretty much everything right. Tons of humor, constant physical and emotional growth for the hero, nonstop dynamic plot progression, well-justified relationships, character evaluations, a few surprises toward the end, and even top-tier animation (great movement and variety), stunning visuals, and an amazing soundtrack. I enjoyed every second of it. The plot twists make sense within the world’s framework, the hero’s place in it, and his personality. Honestly, there’s not much to nitpick here, except maybe the lack of intense drama—but that’s fair for a comedy. Just a heads-up: this isn’t laugh-out-loud ridiculous like KonoSuba. While there’s…

*Definitely* not for everyone. It starts off all weird and janky, but if you're patient enough and stick with it, it's a bit rewarding. The latter half of the season makes you want a second season. What hooked me was because the anime tackled the idea of regulation and ethics in the field of healing. Not much animes on that front. The only other anime I can think of that deals with that issue is Isekai Yakkyoku, though there's probably more than just that. Art: 6/10 It was janky in the first half but it looks like they pulled themselves together because it kinda got better in the latter half, plus they started to use some 3D somewhere near the end. Story: 6/10 First half was really weird and iffy, writing-wise. It just wasn't clicking at all with me, but I am really glad I didn't drop i…

A show about a paranoid virgin wageslave who dies and gets transported into another world with a strong desire not to die. Whereas many shows have protagonists vs antagonists, this is more of him vs himself in many ways. It's very small scale, at first, and laid back while you see the MC struggle and grow a little bit. The animation is nothing special but the manga isn't exactly a masterpiece either. It embraces a kind of charming minimalism that struck the right chord with me. It's definitely a refreshing flavor of isekai trash that exists for indulging in your guilty pleasure. The world-building and hyper focus on the MC makes it far more enjoyable than other genre slop. The biggest complaints seem to be that it's too slow or lacks some kind of tangible antagonistic element, but I think…

The Great Cleric follows a formerly modern day Japanese salaryman, who is shot by a stray bullet and dies after an important business proposal. He reincarnates into a medieval fantasy world and take on the name Luciel who chooses the path of healing but with a twist. Will he be able to save many lives with his power or will he succumb to fate a second time? Story & Character: 5/10 The story is much different from your typical isekai; In the Great Cleric, Luciel doesn't start off with any ungodly powers or cheat skill and instead has to train diligently for his powers to gradually increase. As a result, the story is more related to his experience while training to become a better healer and fend off attackers without the need for external assistance. However, despite being a very unique pl…

Interesting premise that promises a unique isekai story. Ends up being typical and honestly- quite boring. I say this as an isekai fanatic; I love isekai, but the one thing I cannot stand is when the plot is the MC training continously with no development. The first 4 episode is the MC literally training and trying to level up while the plot moves an inch. Then he moves to another city, and now he has to clear a dungeon, and of course he does (with more training and small improvements). It's literally like watching someone play a video game. I'm here to watch an anime, not watch someone play a game. It's funny cause the anime tries to reference itself that it is indeed not a video game, but that 4th wall breaking did nothing but made me scoff even more. The training arc(s) makes no sense…

Ironically good as a story that is not edgy, over the top, not about overpowered characters and not ecchi. I know I know, a shocker. Despite the "status, skills" things and the premise of Isekai it feels more like a typical fantasy which is actually a good thing. MC doesn't get anything special going on for him and doesn't have any superpowers at any moment of the story and basically is just stubborn which helps him in the long run to overcome his lack of ability. In this regard it's a good slow burn story to follow along that culminates by the end of the season. If you think about it, somewhat resembles Faraway Paladin that most people didn't like while it was an enjoyable show to watch. Production shows the lack of budget, but they didn't use any ugly ass CG so the quality doesn't jum…

No matter how many n number of episodes there... this MC will still be a wimpy pussy piece of crap till the end... It is even more irritating to hear the voice of MC's... I hope to anyone new to skip this if you can't tolerate such!!! The protagonist's constant indecisiveness and lack of growth throughout the numerous episodes make it incredibly challenging to invest emotionally in the storyline. The character's continual reliance on others for support, coupled with a seemingly perpetual state of weakness, detracts from the overall enjoyment of the narrative. The voice acting further exacerbates the issue, as the monotonous delivery fails to convey any depth or nuance, making it difficult to connect with the character on any meaningful level. For those seeking a more compelling and dynami…

Incredibly low effort anime. Doesn't feel like anyone cared about this show. The animation is really janky looking, no detail, action is fluid, but still very low effort. Characters are kind of amusing, but also kind of annoying. Also not really any depth of any kind there. Mostly the same for the story, no depth and poor world building. Pacing is meh, slow, but at least it moves. Voice acting leaves a lot to be desired, no stand out performances and I find the main character to be grating. Soundtrack is lame, not terrible, but very forgettable. Op is actually pretty good though, but the ed is meh. Overall it's boring most of the time with the occasional amusing joke or two. The qulaity is close to the bottom of the barrel. 4.45/10 Dubbed

[An isekai anime of the OP MC trope with quite an original storyline yet with lots of clichés of its genre, rather slow yet still enjoyable pacing, less elaborated yet simple writing/world-building/character-building, and minimum yet enough-to-keep-you-curious conflict/dynamic. Decent quality, an enjoyable light watch. 8/10] The overall story is an original, novel, and refreshing touch of the overpopulated genre which is isekai, but still with so many clichés of the genre nevertheless. It tells a story of a salaryman reborn as a young healer, which unexpectedly is rare in this new world. What sets him apart (and what makes the world consider him as 'odd', told in comedic ways) is that he has motivations/mindset that is selfish yet pure. With that, he easily earns the trust of many people…

The show was pretty good. The characters were quite wacky and interesting. This was mostly a slice of life about the evil inherent in unregulated capitalist healthcare dressed up as an isekai but was enjoyable. There really wasn't much plot so it didn't have a huge amount of action however the comedy was reasonable and the art style and animation was of standard quality. The MC was a standard isekai character and wasn't unique but the side characters made the show a lot better due to comedic elements. The show was not realistic but then it's an isekai so what were you really expecting. Good for if you're looking for something relaxing to watch that shouldn't be taken too seriously.

I was honestly so surprised that I enjoyed this as much as I did and I feel compelled to write a little recommendation for those who might give it a chance and find the same level of enjoyment, and also to make it clear who this WON'T appeal to so people don't waste their time. Right off the bat, I should say that this is an extremely amateurish affair on almost every level. The writing is linear, straightforward, surface-level, simplistic, and unambitious. It doesn't have any deep themes (honestly to say it even has any themes is debatable), the writer can't really juggle multiple concurrent plot threads, there will only ever be one thing going on at a time, stopping arbitrarily to pick back up a different thread every so often, but never in any intertwined, multi-layered story. The pacin…

This was surprisingly good after finishing the first season. It’s a basic Isekai where the main Protagonist gets reincarnated into a magical world. He picks being a healer in a world where greed and corruption make things difficult for him at the start but his wholesome personality shines and he shows how things can truly change for views on healers throughout the series. He isn’t over-powered at the start but works hard and gets to a point where that hard work pays off in ways no one would have expected. I don’t want to spoil anything so my review should be vague enough to hopefully not give anything away but will entice readers to give it a watch.

Like all other Iseki's, besides a slim few, this anime falls victim to classic tropes, boring storylines, and overpowered OP. While it's a nice change of pace that he isn't overpowered from the get-go, it still plays into other classics of isekis that make it a bore to watch. I was really invested during the beginning episodes and I thought it had potential, but after you get a feel of the world, it becomes stale really quickly. It takes a lot for an iseki to be good and standout from the rest, and this anime just simply didn't have that special something... sorry

A Japanese Salaryman gets Isekaid into a medieval fantasy equivalent of the United States and makes it his goal to establish affordable healthcare. Animation / Art / General Visuals - 6/10 ----------------------------------------------- Pretty average quality. Art is fairly nice and clean, but doesn't stand out with details nor animation. Sound / Music / Voice Acting - 7/10 ------------------------------------------ Pretty standard anime fare. Story - 6/10 ------------- The story is a thoroughly vanilla Isekai experience that doesn't really innovate in any shape or form. The show plays it super safe, which can be disappointing, but it does get enough of the fundamentals right that it is sufficiently enjoyable for Isekai fans. We are greeted by yet another average Japanese person…
