As an anime with a description that implores an euphoria which motivates people that go watch it with the expectation of twists in the anime due to convictions of the protagonist to act against his missions due to a feeling of backtracking, this anime fulfills it. Our protagonist Miller Shun encountering other main character Mimori Byakuya ignites a spark which makes him all the subversive in the face of his comrades in his little society of "the evil force" is a great starting plot means and device.
However, it was not as dramatic and very eventful, but rather a lot of back and forth between the person of interest and our protagonist. That is the Kicker which kicks down the enjoyabilty of this anime, staticness and a lack of pursuing action which implores to those who watch it something…

“The Magical Girl and the Evil Lieutenant Used to Be Archenemies” (another day, another anime, another short title) is what happens when a good idea can’t decide on its own tone.
Well damn. A rom-com I found entertaining despite its awful world building and slap stick humor? I did not have that on my bingo card this year. It’s actually surprising. This show has no right being as enjoyable as I found it to be. The world building is shit, the characters are annoying AF and the mixing of tones is just asinine. Yet I can’t deny that the interaction between the main morons is actually competent. The plot is a mixed bag and the story is incomplete (and will never be complete because of the author’s death) and yet it actually hooked me. I have no idea how. Ok, I do have an idea how and I’ll get…

He's evil. He was born evil, he was born to evil parents, he was born in an evil country, he worked his way up the evil ladder and now he's the evil Emperor's right hand man. How could he fall in love with this tiny CHIBI thing? Yet he did. At first sight. Even while she was defeating him.
“Don't worry, I'll take care of this magic girl,” he assures all the leadership at the conference table. He ain't lyin. He takes /excellent/ care of her. When he sees her again, he whips out a dessert (“You stood in our way the other day, magical girl. Because of that, today you're in for… a present. Do you like chiffon cake?”). They share it with some tea. She tells him what a…

Considering the genre it ticks all the boxes 10/10 masterpiece if you're looking for some fluffy sweet romance including some magical girl moment vs evil bad guys. Enemy to love interest, poor but hard working super cutie girl and a cool, good looking, powerful kind guy. Very aesthetically pleasing art, the comedy and dark element also on point. If this is the genre you're looking for then this gem. There was only 3 books and it's unfinished which explains why the anime is the way it is. However each episode is very sweet lovey-dovey and funny, I find it very entertaining. It's so unfortunate that the author passed away and it wasn't finished but I wouldn't mind this going on for another 10000 episodes, just them being adorable spending each day together. Usually I will never watch unfinis…

This anime was presented as an enemies-to-lovers story, but from episode one, the two leads were already on good terms, just stuck on opposite sides of their jobs. The romantic tension was strong, and the way the lieutenant struggled to keep his cool around her was genuinely funny. Their chemistry? Easily an 8/10.
Unfortunately, the story doesn’t progress much. Each episode feels the same, and the side content without the main duo just didn’t hit. I found myself wishing for more growth, both in the characters and the plot.
After learning the author passed away and this adaptation was made in their honor, I understand why the story feels incomplete. It’s not perfect, but it’s a heartfelt tribute with moments that shine.
The art style is beautiful, and everything was a bit dreamy.

[JP, subtitles are bad quality]
There are plenty of other summaries already so I'l skip it.
10-minute episodes so there is no plot thinning and there are enough that it is not rushed or cramped.
High quality [read lewd] art and designs. No excessive animation or pointless camera shifts or needlessly high framerates.
Having a satisfying final episode and it remain open for a sequel is the mark of masterful directing.
I'm happy with the sound design too. The english translation is aloof. The general gist gets across but the wording is wrong and gives
a different impression than what is actually being said. This is especially a problem for humor.
The swapping of -san into -mister during one of the later scenes gives the entirely wrong meaning.
That said even if you can't understand Japanes…

“Katsute Mahou Shoujo to Aku wa Tekitai shiteita.” Is a short, sweet, and adorable anime with a lot of heartwarming moments. It’s a shame that it could never get a proper conclusion due to the mangaka’s passing, but I will be reviewing this anime for what it is. In other words, though I respect the author, I will not be biasing this review because of the circumstances.
Characters: 8/10
Definitely the strongest point of this anime is its character dynamics - The titular Magical Girl and Evil Lieutenant both get quite a decent bit if character development despite the short series length, and their interactions were always amusing. The side characters were a bit lacklustre, but I can forgive that since the anime is obviously centred around the main two.
Animation + Music: 7.5/10

very short revies.
this anime is good and yest they are indeed the cutest couple. but it dissapoints a lot cause even at the end of the 1st and maybe only season no confession, very little romance.
i amm into this genre but this is not enough if you are searching for a full romcom with more romance ands less comedy. but i think if thee author was alive it may have been way better with a brilliant ending so if you think you ant to see what she(the author) has acomplished then watch it otherwise if you are not because of the respect to the author annd that this was a tragic prilimanary cancel then dont watch it
overall i liked the anime but still the last ep was a lot dissapointing

the main deterring factor from this anime was the questionable age difference between the two mc's. the girl looks like and acts like a child but is sexualised and exploited constantly...it was very offputting.
though, it's an incomplete story as the author passed away at 31 during its creation and the studio animated it out of respect so i feel reluctant to criticise the unsatisfying ending but this was a beautifully animated anime and a good light watch as each ep was only 10-12 mins long.
so, if u can overlook the loli-esque look of the protagonist and ecchi, and just want a light & quick romcom enemies-to-lovers where the male lead is obsessed with the girl and hates everything else, then this is pretty entertaining

"Katsute Mahou Shoujo to Aku wa Tekitai shiteita" is an absolute gem in the realm of romantic anime. It beautifully blends sweetness, romance, and humor in a way that few other series can match. The plot is filled with delightful twists and heartwarming moments that make every episode a treasure to watch.
The characters are incredibly well-developed, and their interactions are both charming and entertaining. The love story between the magical girl and the evil lieutenant is unique and captivating, keeping you hooked from start to finish. The animation is top-notch, with vibrant visuals that bring the magical world to life in stunning detail.
Moreover, the balance of comedic elements with tender, romantic scenes is perfectly executed, making it a joy to watch. "Katsute Mahou Shoujo to Aku…

It is an incomplete story as its creator passed away during its creation & it was made into an anime out of respect/passion.
It lacks a satisfying ending and while it explores a lot, it lacks further clarification to its elements understandably due to the above.
It features wholesome, cute and sweet moments & comedy between the two main leads with beautiful & incredible art/animation.
It has dark humour between the wholesome sweetness that varies in severity.
One review on here says that it is "kid safe" and I highly disagree as it features sexualisation, exploitation and assault by parties other than the two Main Characters & an unclear/questionable age gap.
Lastly each episode is about 10-12 minutes in length.
Honestly, if you can overlook the ecchi/assault/exploitation, enjoy the…

If you like cute and heart warming anime series this is the best, if you do not like this is the worst. I loved it but if you are not into this genre you will be bored. Voice actings are masterpiece, can be the best ı have ever seen. Animations are very good but the art style is a bit different so you may not like it but as ı say animations are very good. Story is not the strongest weapon of this serie the character dynamics is. That means if you can not bound to characters you cant enjoy the anime.

A slow falling in love story of a magical girl and an evil lieutenant, just like the title says, and it's done in a really good way.
Unfortunetaly, the author, Fujiwara Cocoa, passed away in 2015, at a young age of 31, and such the source material barely had 3 volumes worth of story to go off on, having to add new things to it as even the last "volume" was a really short one lacking enough chapters. But this, for me at least, adds a whole new nuance over the anime, as it was made after 9 years, like a tribute to the author. Even though the episodes were short and left you wanting way more, they were beautiful, both in art, music, vibe and presentation of the jokes/story. You can see and feel the love that was put in this anime, and the potential it had if the source material would have co…

This entire anime feels like fan service in a box with a cute ribbon on top… and yes, I unfortunately loved every second of it and unfortunately want more! 😂 It’s quirky, it’s silly, and honestly, watching a half-bald human-angel-bird was not on my agenda today, but here we are! If you’re into romance anime with a wacky sense of humor, you’ll definitely want to give this a watch.
It’s saddening to hear that the anime wrapped up quickly, especially since the manga was only halfway done. Knowing that the creator has passed away makes it all the more bittersweet. I really wish the author could have seen how much love and happiness her work brought to so many people. 💖
Even though this anime will never get a second part and I know this is all that is left of this wonderful unfinished love…

Cocoa Fujiwara the author and illustrator of the series passed away at age 31 in March 2015 leaving the series unfinished. The third and final volume of the manga was published a full year later after consulting with her family so as to serve as the finale.
The anime, made a full decade later in her memory, is a sweet romance that makes fun of the usual magical girl tropes.
Mira is our straight laced lieutenant. Just think straight A honor student, class president, five million afterschool classes, calculating kind of guy. Now make him a simp and you got it! For some reason his reaction is to always throw his credit card at the girl lol!
Byakuya is our wilting flower of a magical girl. Soft spoken, gentle, feminine, stupid. Now throw in perpetually broke and works every job under the s…

I went into it without knowledge of what had happened to the author or why the episodes were so short (12 min long give or take). Almost skipped it because of how short they were if I'm being honest but the fmc dragged me in just like how the Lieutenant got dragged in. She's adorable and that's always a good point I look for when it comes to these types of anime. I watched it in its entirety and I wanted more. Looking at comments I found out the author was no longer with us and that the manga didn't make it all that far.. Sadness.
I give it a 9/10. Barely ever give things a 10 so a 9 is as good as it gets. I'm sure not everyone will agree but I'm sucker for these types of anime/works. Not too mushy and not too stale. Just the right amount. If you are looking for a fully fleshed out story…

Rest in peace Cocoa Fujiwara. If you were not aware, the author passed away nearly ten years before this aired, at the young age of 31. Sentimentality aside, I would still give this such a high rating for what it is…to think I almost skipped it. I am so glad I didn’t.
Anyway, it’s short, but still manages to convey a lot in the limited time. Sure, there’s ecchi, crudeness from the “Angel” and comedic profanity from the other magical girl, but those help to balance the absolute sweetness of the relationship between the Magical Girl and the Evil Lieutenant. If you can roll with that and like a sweet and simple romcom, this is perfect. They both love one another and meet every day and there’s little progression, but it’s evident by the end… and it perfectly accomplishes what it sets out to d…

It is quite cute and wholesome, especially the romance. The angels are really funny at times. There are some gags that are overused and fall flat. Each 12-minute episode has opening and ending credits which make each episode more like only seven to eight minutes. It is so short that there is virtually no reason not to give this show a try. Despite being a magical girl show, there is no action fights. It's just a slow quirky rom com. The show doesn't have much plot progression, though that is to be expected with the limited length of content. The romance goes somewhere while also not going somewhere (no opinion on the matter; just wholesome; your here for the relationship not the plot). The show focuses in on the relationship between our two main characters while leaving the two organizatio…

Another series with a great potential yet ended in an unfortunate and tragic circumstances. It has been almost a decade since author had passed away and I wish that I could have wished to see more of the wholesome scenes and interactions between the two main characters but at least the anime ended on a high note, befitting as a tribute to the late author.
May her soul in heaven find eternal happiness, not just for Cocoa Fujiwara but also for all of the great authors that had recently passed away.
The story was great like I ate too many pastries for every wholesome scenes I saw.
The characters is quite unique and also goofy in a way.
Overall, it is a great cleanser for every bad anime you've watched.

I really love this anime. The art style is really cute and fluffy. Very standard romcom with magic. This anime is sweet, cutsie and gives fuwa-fuwa feels. If you're looking for something funny and that's easy to watch, this is for you.(◍•ᴗ•◍)
(The manga is unfinished so I doubt it's going to have a new season.)
Just now, (like literally just now.) I learned that the first manga that I have ever read (watashi no ookami-san) is one of the works of the mangaka. Check it out! 💝
Kudos to all the people who made her work into anime. May she rest in peace. 🩷
