The Ossan Newbie Adventurer, Trained to Death by the Most Powerful Party, Became Invincible

Introduction

Determined to pursue his glorious childhood dreams, 30-year-old Rick Gladiatol, a modest clerk in the adventurers' guild, is offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity after he fatefully encounters the dark elf Reanette Elfelt. Reanette happens to be an elite adventurer of the legendary party Orichalcum Fist, whose members welcome Rick under the condition that he follow a Spartan training. Two years later, Rick is finally ready to take the E-Rank exam officially qualifying him as an adventurer. However, raw magical power can only be developed until one turns 20. As such, Rick faces the general hostility of fellow participants and examiners alike, leaving him no choice but to show the world that his hellish training has turned him into an invincible warrior. This anime is a very good anime that doesn’t leave a nasty, disgusting taste in your mouth like the vast majority of modern ones do. The premise and overall concept are really good. You have a weak guy who historically trained with some of the strongest people in the world, which basically turned him into an incredibly strong fighter. The funny thing is, he doesn’t really realize just how strong he is. He’s constantly helping people and being modest about his abilities without fully understanding how far above everyone else he actually is. Now, if the anime had kept doing that exact same joke the entire time, it would have gotten pretty old. That was actually one of my biggest concerns going into it. If they kept beating that same horse for the entire season, I probably would have put t…

The Ossan Newbie Adventurer, Trained to Death by the Most Powerful Party, Became Invincible This anime has the potential to motivate anyone in mere 4-5 episodes alongside the characters which are fun to watch especially Reanette being one of the MCs and also the fact that she doesn't reject Rick's feelings and is also infatuated with him is one of the reasons to watch the anime. A middle aged guy trying to fulfill his childhood dream even after getting mocked by almost everyone around is really a huge thing to hold onto and have the motivation to keep going ! And not to mention a hot springs trip with Reanette sure is something to look forward to for Rick ofcourse ..

They keep trying to launch these 30 something protagonists in fantasy or isekai anime no less, and honestly it's just not that good. This show however manages to lift itself up through other means. Now,the main message this show tries to transmit is that it's never too late to get into something, especially if effort and hard work accompanies that goal. And while i appreciate this message ,the delivery was not something i could enjoy to the fullest. The MC is the first issue. While he is necessary for the first part of the message age-wise, he breaks the second part. And whenever the training he went through is brought up it's treated like comedy outside of the climax. The training should've actually been shown, especially since the action of training itself plays a pretty important role in…

From a show that literally screamed MID from the premise, it turned out to be one of the best of the summer 2024 season! And it's crazy I waited a year to watch it! Someone please punch my dumbass. I really loved the characters in the series. They made each episode feel like a blast! Without a doubt Reanette is my fav out of the bunch! Dark elf, Tall, Well endowed, Maid, Silver hair and Red eyes with a non-chalant personality? Someone call the police, because my heart has been stolen by the beautiful elf woman. What really surprised me though, was how much character growth they had in the season. It’s genuinely impressive how certain characters go from "annoying as hell" to becoming total "fan favorites" real quick!. The development felt very natural and well earned, which made the stor…

Story is mostly cookie‑cutter generic. It does not detract from enjoyment if you are looking for mindless entertainment. If you are looking for character development or any kind of deep exploration of ideas, this one is not for you. Fan service is prominent at first and is used for comedic purposes. I think the second half of the season makes this show above average; therefore, I decided to upgrade my ranking even though it’s cookie‑cutter at the start. Watch it if you enjoy stories of older guys deciding to follow their dreams and don’t mind a shallower, more straightforward storytelling.

In all honesty when it comes to watching lower level animes these days i do struggle but every once in a while you come across just a fun little trip for 12 episodes and thats exactly the type of enjoyment i got out of this, a really nice filler anime just to fill your time, the story is basic, the characters do nothing different from other anime but there not completely disinteresting, they become more likeable and the fight scenes towards the end of the anime even though kind of still frame/just flashes of strikes and theres not alot of animation there is a bit of heart behind it, theres nothing unique about the story and alot of the characters/themes at the start can be annoying like there attitude and demeanor but if you generally watch alot of anime thats releasing across the season j…

Lately, I've been looking for an anime that's fun to watch, but not too heavy. No "Oh my god, my family was killed and now I'm a cold-blooded warrior" drama. This anime is good. Is it stupid? Yes. Is it simple? Also yes. But when I finished it, I just said: "Oh my god, that was good." The main character isn’t a boring, naive adult that everyone manipulates, nor some genius mastermind. He’s just… normal. And fun, with strengths and flaws like a real person. The waifus aren’t your typical tsundere or immature clichés. Sure, it’s a bit sexualized, but not in the "Oops! Here's a random side-boob!" kind of way. She knows what she wants, and it’s expressed naturally, without relying on cheap fanservice. The side characters are simple, but well-developed and enjoyable. A really fun and genuinel…

This anime surprised me. From the outside it looked like another generic fantasy anime with an OP mc. However, this anime breaks away from these cliches. For one, the mc isn't the strongest, there are at least 4 people stronger than he his. Also he realizes very quickly that he is very powerful compared to the average fighter. He doesn't spend the entire show oblivious of his true strength unlike a certain Parrying anime. The mc also mentors other fighters to become stronger. Overall I enjoyed this anime. The animation was good and I will definitely be waiting for a season 2.

The anime ''Ossan Newbie Adventurer, Trained to Death by the Most Powerful Party, Became Invincible'' is what I call an entertaining anime. If you're looking for a (8,9,10) really great or deep anime this is not the one for you. This anime has that Kenichi vibe meets I will parry everything and a tiny piece of One Punchman kind of feeling. The story is not very unique but, I contend that not every story has to be the Greatest Story ever written. This story is just mindless fun. The Characters are not well rounded either but, again does every story need to tell the epic struggle of the hero, I say no. The main characters were OP with very few if any weakness at all. The best part of the story is watching Rick reactions to everything. This anime mostly a comedy about a an OP beginner adventu…

I just finished watching this anime, and I absolutely loved it! I got hooked right from the first episode and couldn’t stop until I’d binged the entire season in one go. The animation was solid, and the character designs stood out, especially the main guy as an older, unlikely hero—it felt fresh and unique. The balance of humor and action was spot-on, keeping things entertaining without ever feeling over-the-top. The intense training scenes were brutal but made his growth feel so satisfying. The powerful party was hilarious and had great dynamics with the protagonist. I’d LOVE to see a season 2 because I've grown attached to the characters and this story has so much potential to keep going!

Despite this show's greatest efforts is to be as generic and uninteresting as possible, I was still able to get a bit of enjoyment out of it. The anime follows the protagonist Rick who is trying to become an adventurer in his early thirties. People tell him he's too old, but he doesn't give up. As someone also in their early thirties, the theme resonated with me. Often I can feel that I missed out on a lot of things when I was younger, but that's the wrong mindset. It's never too late to start out something new, and improve yourself. Despite the personal theme, the show is quite generic. Despite him starting out at an older age, he's already stronger than everyone else, as you can infer from the title. So we got the overpowered MC who plows through all the doubters, as you expect from thi…

when I first started it and he didn't realize he was OP I was so annoyed and planned on dropping it BUT I am so happy I didn't they explained why he thought that and he ACTUALLY HAD COMMON SENSE and figured it out and the show wasn't centered on his depression of being weak or his strength it actually had depth every character did which was so refreshing after "I parry everything" this was 100x better than that this is how that mc should've been I admit it had its weak points but compared to everything that has been getting released in this genre lately those issues are small.

A generic fantasy/adventure story with quite a bit of comedy put in it, following someone that went into adveturing at the old age of 30. Even though the story is generic, the comedy, which sometimes hits, sometimes it's a bit dry, does make it more enjoyable. The context is a bit absurd, so don't expect normalcy or try of it in the plot, but that's good for me as it knows what it is and how it started and how it should go. The story does touch onto a pretty sensitive subject, even for a young guy like me, that I feel like everyone thought about at least once: is it too late to start something? While in this context we have a pretty happy story, if you can call it so, of a 30 years old MC that finally decided to follow his dream of being an adventurer and finding people that would help hi…

It's alright. The story is about Rick, who is this guy in his late 30's who wants to be an adventurer, but turns out was OP all along and just didn't know it until he unlocked his abilities with Oricholum group. Then his goal aligns with theirs which is to defeater the Kaiser boss guy. The good is that there are some hilarious parts. The humor isn't with Rick though- it's with Angelica, who IMO is the best character in the show. Watching Angelica flip every time she sees how OP Rick and his friends are never gets old. Angelica also gets solid character development. In particular, she is blessed with talent, but learns to be humble and learns to be a better person. That said, Rick in general isn't bad. He's just boring. I think it's because his goal to be an adventurer and him constantly t…

The storyline is great, the humor is on point, and the friendships between the characters are heartwarming. Just judging by the title, you might think it’s like other anime where the protagonist is overpowered to the point of being boring—but this one is different! The characters are well-developed and perfectly suited to the story, each bringing a unique charm that enhances the plot. They have their own strengths and flaws, making them relatable and engaging. Rather than feeling one-dimensional or overly powerful, they react to situations in ways that feel natural and realistic, adding depth to the story. Each character’s personality complements the others, creating a dynamic that makes the friendships and interactions feel genuine and meaningful. This anime is really good, I highly reco…

TL:DR Art: 8/10 (design-wise isnt impressive but the details on hair and muscles show the love that was put into the art) Animation: 8/10 (i was expecting that horrendous 3d and moving jpeg-like animation but it was actually GOOD? what the hell??!) Story: 9/10 (The reason is stated below, i can only sum to ''there's beauty in simple things'') Do i reccomend it?: YOU SHOULD WATCH IT YOURSELF, NOW Anyway, here's the essay. I'm not good at writing reviews but i felt the need to say something about this anime anyway. Here i was binge watching some anime from the season that i left to pile up and then i came across this gem. Its so underrated that i had a hard time trying to understand how it didin't got some of the spotlight of the season. This anime is about an almost middle aged man th…

As an aside: I cannot believe this was adapted from a manga. I was so confident in my misconception that this was originally a novel because the JP webnovel "Ossan Boukensha no Jimichi na Isekai Tabi" which is a COMPLETELY different story than this show, "Shinmai Ossan Boukensha, Saikyou Party ni Shinu hodo Kitaerarete Muteki ni Naru," have such similar names. Yes I don't actually know that much Japanese, so I just thought that it'd be impossible for there to be two different series with "Ossan Boukensha" as the main title. So when I went and looked at the adaptation material, color me surprised when it was actually a manga. Anyways, that's probably the most interesting thing in this review. What can I say? I feel a bit embarrassed to even review this show. It's so straightforward the syn…

This is a pretty good series with a pretty good premise, in my opinion. I love the power fantasy vibe in any kind of medium and this one has that and more. What I do not enjoy, also in any medium, is a steadfast reliance on flashbacks. If I'm supposed to know something, weave it into the narrative and don't cut away from things just to be like "oh by the way, here are ten minutes of explanation about this particular thing, which may or may not be vital to your enjoyment." For a super light spoiler, there's a sequence about why the party was formed. It occupies six minutes and twenty-two seconds to begin the final episode, and by that point I could not care any less. With eleven episodes behind me, I understand the characters enough for me to enjoy watching two buff dudes beat the shit out…

A fairly generic OP protag comedy fantasy, this one starts off kind of iffy for the first six episodes but gets WAY better in the second half. We've got Rick, our MC, who is in his early 30s and just getting started as an adventurer. At first, he thinks he's got a long way to go to catch up to all these veteran adventurers around him who started much younger than him, but soon he realizes that due to his intense training, he's already got the power of an S-Rank adventurer despite just starting out. Cool, we get the OP thing and a few oblivious protag jokes too, but the oblivious thing doesn't outlast its welcome and we also get an underlying "it's never too late to follow your dreams" message, which is nice to see. Then it turns out Rick has a cheat power (it seems like it only activates…

This was my personal sleeper hit of the season. I can imagine it won’t appeal to everyone, but I imagine this will scratch the itch for us old school Shonen people that grew up on this sort of thing. Sure it modernizes it well too, but it has a great core of that old school battle Shonen type feel. It reminded me of being a kid watching Dragon Ball, and watching people just fight to become the strongest in the world. It also does the seemingly new found trope of the older than usual protagonist storyline and how it is never too late to become who you want to be. The action is well done. It won’t do anything you haven’t seen before, but the look just nails the nostalgic feel. Character designs are all pretty cool, and the faces look distinct and interesting. The best part to me is the…
