The Prince of Tennis

The Prince of Tennis

Introduction

At the request of his father, tennis prodigy Ryouma Echizen has returned from America and is ready to take the Japanese tennis scene by storm. Aiming to become the best tennis player in the country, he enrolls in Seishun Academy—home to one of the best middle school tennis teams in Japan. After Ryouma catches the captain's eye, he finds himself playing for a spot on the starting lineup in the intra-school ranking matches despite only being a freshman. Due to his age, the rest of the Seishun Boys' Tennis Team are initially reluctant to accept him, but his skill and determination convinces them to let him in. Armed with their new "super rookie," Seishun sets out to claim a spot in the National Tournament, hoping to take the coveted title for themselves. In order to do so, the team must qualify by playing through the Tokyo Prefectural and Kanto Regionals. Yet, the road ahead of them is shared by a plethora of strong schools, each playing tennis in unique ways for their own reasons. Ryouma and his teammates must learn to cooperate if they want to become the champions they aspire to be. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

As far as tennis anime goes, this is definitely your best bet. Let's talk about the elephant in the room. People are talking about how unrealistic the show is and how it takes them out of it. Now let's add some context. These are pretty much elementary school kids who have moved up to middle school and see these guys as larger than life. Now it is a lot more believable how they are amazed at seemingly mundane shots. In one episode they say "oh my goodness look at his split step". The split step is one of the first things kids in the US learn when they are taught tennis. It makes sense that other kids in the junior ranks are getting more easily beaten by a left handed player because his forehand is going to their backhand, a shot that is traditionally weaker. Add the fact that his father…

This anime is an cclasic and if we talk about the genere sports in this medium we (at least me) cant skip to mention this series, now as many others animes of begginins of 90`s early 2000 i remember them with nostalgia and maybe some bias in between but leaving that aside i have seen along these years some of these animes of that era due to nostalgia wanting to relieve some of those moments and i have to say that many of them have aged so freaking well that even today i can enjoy them almost the same as before and gladly to say that prince of tennis wasnt an exception and even after more than 20 years since his emission still keeps being an amaizing series. Now i want just to leave some of my thoughs about the series having watched in my middles 20 in comparation of when i was 8 years old…

Good spokon very entertaining. The first chapters half hate the protagonist later, you get fond of him. It is very good how he introduces tennis but they make him look very shonen, he looks a lot like kuroko no basketball and well that brings out realism. It is the only stick I see because it gives you straw to see things that are impossible to do in real life. I love tennis and I played for several years, so I say I would have liked it to be more faithful to reality. Taking that out seems to me like a spokon that works very well and is very long for better or for worse but it's good qsy in 2020 a new season is coming out so I'll see it when it comes out. I recommend it if you are looking for a long spokon or a tennis spokon En español: Buen spokon muy entretenido. Los primeros capítulos…

introduction to the review: First of all I want to clarify that I am not to create reviews and especially extensive, but I consider that being a fan of the genre "Spokon" and that the adaptation of Tennis no Ouji-sama (TnO) receives a significant amount of chapter in its first series, It is up to me to make some things clear about the Anime. Before starting I clarify that I will try to omit any spoiler but maybe at some point it deserves to mention a specific scene. History: (5.5 / 10) As for the plot, I am not going to detail the obvious that he refers to in his synopsis, but I do want to emphasize some specific issues. For example: The story revolves around sports competitions such as tournaments, which makes it somewhat cliche within the genre, but the fun thing about "TnO" is that i…

Since I am a fan of sports anime, it was such a shame that it took me so long to finally start Prince of Tennis. I think the fact that it was an old anime and it has 178 episodes made me hesitate to start it. But I am so glad that I finally watched this anime. My feelings for this anime came to a point where I was so happy that there are still more episodes to watch and then when I was nearing into the end, I got sad because the episodes were getting less. STORY: 10/10 It's not your typical weak lead trying to get better throughout the series. Finally, we have a strong one who aims to be number one. So we have a strong school, a strong team and a strong male lead. All is good, and I thought it was perfect for a striking continuous win throughout the episodes but NOOOOO, it's not an easy…

I kinda like the story from the beginning, My first thought of it was, this could be interesting, the MC is a son of a legendary tennis player, but we dont know why he quit, really hook me up fast ! the story build up is also awesome. having to play to someone older than him is good means that the MC is really that good at tennis. 10/10 the art is good as well, as expected, i mean im satisfied with that kind of art/animation from this kind of anime rather than being too colorful, will be pain to my eyes. (imo). I put 9/10 because ... actually i dont know. LOL I actually dont listen to the opening and ending much but yea, not that bad. ill say. LOL. characterwise, i really think that the MC (ryoma echizen) is a good mc in this kind of thing, like i said just now, he's father is the legen…

okay i usually dont review but i just have to point out that this anime is one of the best anime you'll ever see. it's that kind of anime that you can never forget despite watching a lot of other good animes. here are a few reasons why this anime stands out story 9/10: the story basically revolves around this boy named echizen ryoma and he is the son of a legendary player making him a child prodigy as well. he joins the tennis club in seigaku where he battles players and shows people what he's got and that despite being a first year he can still be a regular. he then meets the regulars of seigaku and they start their journey as a team. everythings fun and light and i find no flaws in the plot because its unpredictable in some parts except for the side romance which i personally dont li…

I am probably one of the few people who did not enjoy this anime at all. I honestly found it horrible and not because of the old animation, i mean when you watch an old anime you really cant have high expectations for animation. First of all the story, it s the classic sports story where the protagonist aims to be the best. But in this case the protagonist is just too strong, he has no real opponent, you barely even see him train at all, even when he struggles vs an opponent he suddenly overcomes the difficulty for no reason at all (kind of like how ichigo defeats his opponents in bleach, he s losing the whole fight then KA-BOOM super power time and beats them). Second of all the characters, i found them simply boring, besides the protagonist who has some kind of arrogant attitude the rest…

Whenever i think great sports anime this is deffinetly the one that comes up. Prince of tennis might be long but the amount of rewatching i have had with it proves it atleast to me that its worth enjoying to its fullest So why do i enjoy this relativ old anime. Well first Story centering around echizen Ryoma a tennis prodigy who just sticks out like something of that uniqness shown in old classics. As the story progress so does the character with the good flow of a great story. It makes tennis of course look more special that what it is in a sence but the way the creators have come up with sort of abilities that the tennis players have isnt unormal for a sports anime. Shooting a tennis ball hard enough to break a racket is it logicall not really but is it fun for the action of the anime h…

The Anime Starts out well.. but loses steam halfway through the stories.. with potholes the size of craters.. i was hoping it would get better but it was a dud... With an obvious plot of the Protagonists winning every tournament.. the opponents in the beginning are intimidating but as the series progresses no matter what the opponents did the seigaku team ends up winning... i'm a sport anime fan.. i was looking forward to learning a lot from the show.. like i did with Slam Dunk.. but the show ends up showing tennis as a sport where you can win a few rounds at the US open but still get beaten up so bad in an U-17 Japan Camp... i was expecting a lot more from this show but was left high and dry... i really liked the build up to the National tournament.. but in the national tournament en…

I'm a big fan of sports, especially Tennis, so when i discovered Prince of Tennis i thought this might be what i've been searching for, however it became very clear it wasn't. Initially it was watchable but rapidly became unwatchable, the problem with Prince of Tennis is that the parameters of the world we are supposed to be immersed in are not defined, this inevitably leads to more and more ridiculous events occurring. I appreciate it isn't meant to be realistic however when you start from the stars in no time you will reach the sun and then where do you go from there? What i mean by this, is that these first year high schoolers are so overpowered that when you try to imagine what the professional tennis players in this world are like it just becomes utter nonsense. At a young age the…

I don't care much for tennis, nor any sports for that matter. Never liked sports, sports games, sports shows, sports movies ( well, some movies ), sports fashion... none. I don't care if some sport is considered particularly lame compared to another. Sports are - in my opinion - incredibly boring. But I've watched the whole thing and enjoyed every second. There's a lot of tennis. With very few exceptions, there's no episode that wouldn't have at least one short match of tennis in it. Of course, it isn't just any tennis, it's anime-tennis, which has been made exaggerated and humanly impossible. I understand quite well if someone dislikes that and I find it a bit bothersome too from time to time but I guess I've learned to overcome it. Those who think that it's completely okay to make 1…

*THIS REVIEW CONTAINS NO SPOILERS* Ah, Prince of Tennis. One of the greatest sports anime which is overshadowed by the admittedly better sports anime like Hajime no Ippo. But don't let that deceive you. This is easily one of the greatest sports anime out there. So let's get to it. Story:- 8 While the story isn't anything out of the norm for sports anime it still has the feeling of uniqueness. There are many fillers along the way but the best part about this anime is that even it's fillers are reasonably entertaining. The story never feels repetitive even though it is. Art:- 7 Keep in mind that this is a 2001-2005 anime. So obviously comparing it to today's standards is not a good idea. But even comparing it to it's own time period it still seems a bit dated. It actually reminds me of th…

OK, this anime is a fun watch to be sure, but if you've come for realistic sports play run far far far far far far far far away. the character are funny, interesting and they have small 1-2 episodes where the characters have fun in between tournaments where they do stuff they are bad at like bowling or pool. overall it's a decent show.

What is Prince of Tennis? In short, it is an anime about tennis and the only one of its kind. Some people may find it boring while others will find it interesting; this is an anime that either you will like or don't, there really isn't a middle ground. I personally love this anime and have re-watched it a few times. The story is good, the characters are well developed, the music and art is good. - Story and Plot - 9/10 - The main plot of the anime is how the main characters, players of Seishun Gakuen, deal with the various situations dealt to them in the world of junior Tennis. Their youngest teammate is Echizen, Ryoma, who is the one referred to as The Prince of Tennis due to his skills. The story follows through their trials as a team, in their ultimate goal of playing in the Japanese N…

Let me take a guess, you're thinking: 'wow, an anime about tennis? really? I don't see how they can make this any good' and you click the 'next' button because hey, you have no interest in sports or tennis to be exact, why would you want to watch an anime about it? How can it be any interesting for you? Well Prince of Tennis happens to be much more than just about normal tennis anime, it has suspense, each new character comes with something new to the table of awesomenes, it is overall a very very well made anime (and manga) about a very unique topic, tennis, if you are looking to experience character growth, edge of your seat adrenaline and humour when it's not full on serious (sadaharus drinks!) then go and watch this anime! (romance not included, main character is oblivious) Story: Ba…

I was amazed when I began watching this anime. From the first episode to the last, each episode was very enjoyable. What makes this anime interesting is the fact that some unknown player comes and beats all of the best junior players in Japan. It is fun to watch Ryoma Echizen, the growing prodigy of tennis and the son of a tennis legend. The techniques that the players use (Ryoma's twist serve or Tezuka's Zero Degree Drop Shot) takes the anime up a notch. Also, when the matches become intense, everyone will be on their toes to see what moves Ryoma Echizen will bring out. For tennis players like me, it is enjoyable to watch. For the first quarter of the series, we can relate to real tennis techniques that are present today such as the twist serve, tweener, and more. After a while, the tech…

The prince of tennis, I have probably rewatched all 176 episodes + the specials + the ovas + the movies maybe about 2-3x each , Echizen ryoma a first year highschool student first ever to become a regular on the tennis team faces many strong adversaries in the early episodes he says he hates tennis because he only wants to play it to finally beat someone , that someone is , someone close to him will not say for the people that have not seen this anime yet. Echizen ryoma has to play many strong opponents even people on his tennis team at school such as Tezuka, Fuji . The captain, and the legendary player with the 3 triple counters , ... For now. You may also expierence things in tennis that can probably never happen. A lot of the moves that are done here are not things that someone can…

I'm a big sucker for sports animes that gets you all pumped up and excited, Prince of Tennis is one of those. It actually inspired me to play Tennis. Now onto the actual review. Story- 8 The story was not the most original, however it has its own unique quality. Basically, the protagonist, Ryoma Echizen is a 12 year old tennis player who travels back to Japan from America to surpass his father and develop himself to become a better tennis player. The story follows the challenges he faces and the people he encounters. The story has its ups and down and there are a few surprises, so in all I think it's a great story. There are times where the story seems to drag or some repetitions in the matches-like my friend once told me : I got bored past 100 episodes because they were basically repeating…

I tend to view sports anime as something skeptical, I mean there is only so much they can do or offer. So what make this anime different from another sport anime? It started the trend of turning the anime into a musical, to be very honest, I started watching prince of tennis live action movie. To say the truth, I don't really fancy the movie, ryouma turns out to be a rather cocky and arrogant boy. I was so wrong when I started this anime, ryouma doesn't turns out to be really cocky in here, perhaps it is the animation, it gives me the feeling that he is rather charismatic or a leader in its own rights. It provides lots of other lead and the little story weaves in and out of the main plot, so it makes it all the more engaging. Other than those comments by the reporters etc which makes…
