What an amazing way to come back to anime. I haven't watched anime, not a single one, in 4 years. I tried rewatching Tokyo Ghoul and even tried starting Rent A Girlfriend, but couldn't bring myself past the first three episodes.
Sidenote: the OP is amazing and very characteristic for this anime.
Yet this anime, and especially this season was insane. There's so much to love about it. It grabs you by the neck with goosebumps already in first episode. The following contain odd details, tense atmosphere, and plot twists out of this world. It creates an amazing physiological game with the viewer. During this season I truly had no clue if it would go well for the protagonists, everything was twisted to the point where I would and prepared for them to lose.
I sadly cannot say the same for the…

one of the most incredible and engaging displays of strategy and human willpower I have ever seen in an anime. just so exciting to see these incredibly well written and intelligent characters navigate through seemingly impossible scenarios in a really realistic and interesting way. and to add to it it's absolutely beautiful and the emotional moments hit hard. also without trying to spoil anything the first season of this anime has the greatest and most emotionally striking character death i've ever seen in an anime and it's really unfortunate what they did in the second season. what could have been an all time great anime was crushed in the second half because the author was forced to end the story early and the anime exacerbated the resulting issues further by doing a shoddy job adapting…

I watched the first season of together with my sister, and honestly, it was such an intense experience. From the very first episode it grabbed my attention. The atmosphere, the mystery, the constant feeling that something isn’t quite right. Even though the episodes weren’t long, every single one felt packed with tension, clever twists, and moments that made me want to keep watching without stopping. I really enjoyed the dynamic between the main characters and how smartly the story unfolded. It kept me guessing the whole time, and watching it with my sister made it even more fun. The world-building was dark but fascinating, and the emotional moments hit surprisingly hard. Overall, I’d give the first season a solid 8/10. It was gripping, unique, and definitely worth watching. Just not quite…

Decent at the very least 1st season but overrated, severely overrated
World is believable, world building adheres to a solid structure at the very least during 1st season
Characters are decent, typical shounen manga where 10 y olds behave much more rationally than irl adults in their 40s but let it be, characters have decent depth, motivation and logic behind their actions
Plot is also quite solid durring 1st season
Art is alright, not breath taking but not ugly either, decent
Overall its a quite a decent 7.5 anime as far as the word DECENT goes, yet it has score roughly of 8.5 and considering its 2nd season was absolutely trashed even though it didn't fall that much further from it in my eyes, i believe s1 to be overrated

When I said I was going to watch this, several people said "good luck". I understand now why they said it, but it really wasn't as bad as people made it out to be. Though I will say, some people might be a bit too sensitive for it. This is one of my favorite animes so far, it's very engaging and keeps you coming back for more. I loved the plot, and loved the characters. Ray is my favorite, then the beautiful and lovely Emma.
The aesthetics are beautiful, I loved all of the shots it gave us - especially at night.
Highly recommend this show.

The Season following this is well known as one of the biggest jokes/messes in the anime community. Hell, I even think the manga is bad after this point entirely... but... this is a great watch for a standalone 12 episode series. If you can head canon that it ends at episode 12 you will be very pleased. Good levels of suspense, characters and horror.
Its one of those shows where I do believe it should have ended here anyway. If you like horror genre level anime then this will quench your thirst... just don't go down the true scary step of continuing the series.

This is one of the few animes that had a lot going for themselves but its execution have led to its stumble that it was kind of sad to see; This review will constitute the overall state of its first and second season. Do I recommend people to watch it? I wish I could. But it is a very distasteful experience that I think you'll be better off reading the manga perhaps.
Animation (6/10) - This was one of the finer aspects that they had in their credits. Their color scheming and thematics was expressive, the movements were fluid and has a very contemporary appeal that is reflective of the current, anime industry. And its one of the things you can expect from its house, CloverWorks, that has a decent resume of shows in their belt. So props to that regard.
Usually animes with decent animation,…

This was a fantastic show that absolutely crapped the bed in the second season. I'd give S1 an 8/10, while S2 deserves no higher than a 4/10.

So season 1 is very good. The core of the show is a suspense-thriller and it executes this vision very well. There are lots of twists that genuinely got me, e.g. they would be attempting to sniff out a traitor with one obvious candidate and one improbable-seeming candidate. I would guess it would be the improbable candidate, since if the show is leaning so heavily towards the obvious one then I'd expect it to be a red herring. Turns out they were *both* wrong, and it was actually a dark-horse third candidate, explained in a way that made a lot of sense after the fact. There's several moments of this type of brilliant misdirection playing on ex…

The promotional cover tells as much as one needs to know for a series contingent on a twist. And it goes like this: children raised as cattle discover that the ranchers thar run the place engage in some unethical business practices. Throw in a bit of mysticism and perhaps an over-abundance of optimism as well, because the narrative only sees two ways out. But how would you get a move on? A dozen episodes or so in a stylized prison escape fashion isn’t too far fetched of an idea. Yet, it appears that most of the casts’ constrains are imaginary insofar as the series pads the runtime with pointless filler. Promised Neverland wasn’t bad per se, but its potential was definitely squandered by lazy writing. Life as a cow isn’t always pleasant on Mama’s farm. Moo!
Promised Neverland’s main issue…

if we are talking only about season one, i think promised neverland is a masterpiece. it's a unique concept with loveable characters and tension that leaves you bracing for impact. i remember watching it the night before my sixteenth birthday expecting only to watch an episode or two and winding up binging the whole thing in one night. im someone who's very strict about their sleep schedule so this is an insanely rare occurrence for me. i was so tired going into school the next morning but it was absolutely worth it. i can't bring myself to watch the second season because ive heard how terrible it is, i don't want to ruin a show so precious to me. but if you're ok with an open ending you can watch the series and act like the end of season one is where it ends. i think it's definitely worth…

Please Read Any Reviews After Watching Episode 1
The Promised Neverland Season 1 feels like being thrown into situations that feel greatly in the other person's favor. Time after time, the protagonists feel as though that they truly have no chance of getting out and are doomed to let this cycle continue forever after they're gone. And that creates immediate high stakes as well as making the viewer also participate, thinking of ways to outsmart the other force. It's incredibly well written in its story, world, characters, and slick problem-solving. For every step forward, it feels as though they take two steps back. I applaud Promised Neverland for both having such a great red herring beginning but being a genuinely terrifying premise. And to give the show more credit where its due, the wi…

I can't describe how amazing and beautiful that was, this season is full of incredible scenes that I loved and made me cry more than just one time...
It is a unique story that takes your emotion to one of the highest levels possible. Also, there is one thing that caught my interest the most: the main character.
Emma is, despite being a kid, a person who cares a lot for her family, being capable of doing whatever it takes so save all of them.
In different moments in the show it is possible to see Emma with no doubts of her thoughts, no matter what are the other's opinions, she always want to help every single friend, even knowing the risks and high chances of fail, that's what I love in her personality(but annoys Norman and Ray lol).
I really recommend watching this, because it was a w…

To describe tpn would be to describe it as a cheese omelette, only that the omelette has since gone cold and you can't heat it up in the microwave or it will explode. What I mean by that is it had so much potential to be sooo good. And then it wasn't. The first season wasn't horrendous and there were moments I enjoyed. Like the first episode and ray almost killing himself but after that, it just fell downhill. Also the manga is way better 4/10 don't recommend, go read the manga instead if u really like it
Now the art was pretty ok,the animation was pretty smooth, atleast the first season.

This review is for Season 1 of The Promised Neverland anime.
Summary:
The Promised Neverland, or Yakusoku no Neverland, is an anime adaptation of its manga. Season 1 tells the story of orphan children raised on a farm from which they are sold as meat to demons, covering the first few arcs of the manga. If you are interested in the horror or thriller genre, this may be of interest to you. Please note that season 2 is a huge let down and dip in quality, regardless of whether or not you have read the manga.
Story: 8/10

one of the best animes i've ever seen! i think many of us clicked on this anime because we thought it would be a cute slice of life story, but boy were we played!
the story or plot itself is fresh and unique and, more importantly, it's well executed. if you're a picky person, like me, and pay attention to the quality of the characters' dialogues, reasonings, and their reactions to a problem or event, this anime is for you. i also love the mystery and the plot twists.
i honestly do not have any negative feelings towards this anime. i personally don't understand why some reviews say that this anime is poorly executed. i would 10/10 recommend "yakusoku no neverland" any day.

Absolutely recommended.
It starts a little slow, but it's all worth it.
It's tense, it's dark, it's satisfying.
It gives you much to think about when you are not watching it.
The story is unique, the art style is a little different than other animes I was used to but fitting of the story.
The characters were well rounded, even though they were just young children, everything made sense.
I do think others will enjoy the series, however it is not for the faint of heart.
It will tug on your heart strings.
It may make you cry. But that's no reason to not enjoy a ride such as this.

Ever since I have become an anime fan last year, I have known about The Promised Neverland. And ever since last year, I have known about how infamously bad the ending is. But I have never seen the show until now. My curiosity peaked as I was randomly thinking about it today as I always thought that the ending would be so embarrassing that it was funny because I do enjoy stuff like that. But now after finishing this first season, I am very upset.
Not that this first season was bad, but I couldn't help but think: "Why did they pick this show to ruin? They could've picked any other show, but no they had to pick one that I would get emotionally attached to." And that's really the only major complaint that I have with this first season. Even though I was genuinely enjoying it, the thought that…

In short, this show had one of the strongest 1st seasons of any anime ever. Absolutely, do not miss 10/10. But the 2nd season made one of the most inexplicable decisions in all of fiction, they basically skipped like a middle third, a super important character, a large chunk of world building and backstory for no apparent reason whatsoever. So watch the first season, you'll love it. Don't even bother with the 2nd, just jump straight to the manga at chapter 38 and finish the story from there. I found the story gripping throughout, even though it never quite captured the magic of the first arc. I know some hate the ending, while not the greatest, to me it was overall a satisfying conclusion to the story., but I think the story is absolutely worth your time and you won't regret it.

This is one of those classic shows that every anime watcher (or even non-anime watchers) will watch, and it's definitely worth it. The animation style is kind of unique and not something I'm usually drawn to, but it fits well. The momentum from the first episode on is utilized extremely well, and none of the episodes are a drag.
It really reminded me of my experience watching Attack on Titan, not really because of the 'thriller' theme, but because I was excited to watch the next episode. No fatigue.
I also watched it with my mom who isn't interested in these sorts of media, but she was super invested the whole time. I think everyone should give this show a chance.

this anime is quite literally, a masterpiece. or at least the 1st season (we don't talk about the sequel). with an amazing banger of an opening, The Promised Neverland is a story of how you can always see the light in the dark, keep racing your dreams, and have hope that you can always reach the unreachable. It is a story of beray, trauma, love, and quite a lot of emotional (and physical) pain. It's a story about 3 orphans, Emma, Norman, and Ray. these 3 orphans are close friends, yet so different. emma is the carefree naive one. ray is the one who always thinks with his head and head only. and Norman, while also quite of a smart fella, let Emma influence his dreams and goals way to a place way further than he would have alone.
animation- 8/10. some good shots, but mostly just decent.
