It is hurting to watch. To see how time shifts more and more between those. I really cried because it only showed be again how important time is and how important every seconds can be. So I recommend this but the progression can feel a little bit stiff. The animation quality is not as good as Josee, the Tiger and the Fisch but it is still good. The story is unique and just a little bit predictable, but it wraps those ideas really good.
The art style is really fitting with the aqua color and a light tone which will transition into something more vividly at the end. The characters are well-rounded with their flaws but it just feel like they need a little bit more of backstory. The reaction in some embarrassing scenes is quite good and I would understand that someone could be annoyed.

There is something compelling about The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes. It initially comes across as a coming-of-age romance wrapped in a science-fiction premise: a mysterious tunnel that can grant you what you desire, but at the cost of time itself. Yet the more the story unfolds, the less interested the film seems to be in the mechanics of the tunnel. What it really wants to examine is something much more familiar: what happens when we become so attached to something we have lost that we are willing to sacrifice the present just to have it back.
Kaoru is essentially a boy who has never completely moved on from his past. His loss has left a kind of vacancy in his life, and the discovery of the Urashima Tunnel gives him what appears to be the perfect opportunity to fill it. The te…

I don't care about the tunnel concept or the metaphors of escapism and regret. Because the pacing ruins everything; even though this is a romance anime, there is no dynamic whatsoever due to the terrible pacing. Most people might consider Anzu a "loyal girl" or even think this is a sad story, but the fact is quite the opposite—a story cannot become a story without a clear background. Simply put, the pacing ruins the essence of the background in those points.
The only thing to be proud of in this anime is the visuals; magnificent visuals trying to cover up a bad story is certainly impossible—a rotten smell will always be detected.
Even so, the concept is there and clear, it's just a shame that the pacing ruins everything. This anime actually had great potential.

What a terrible movie. And what makes it so terrible? The ending.
Up until the ending, the movie makes you think it's at least gonna be decent, we have an interesting plot, two planks of wood for main characters, convoluted events and plot holes, good animation, the usual for a supernatural romance and with all the specific charm that comes with it.
But then the plot starts to happen, and then it happens harder and then by the end it happens all over the place. I will say that I expected it to end differently, so you can say my expectations were subverted for the worse.
What I thought would happen was, she's gonna go into the tunnel and save him by having the tunnel give her what she lost, which was him. A bit corny but eh, it might have been a 7/10.
But that's NOT what happened. Instead…

This is very nice. It has an unusually serious tone for an anime, which is a nice change of pace compared to allthe inane bullshit I have been watching altely.
The supernatural mystery of the tunnel is rather captivating.
The waifu has an engaging personality. I wish someone would be as smitten with me as she is with the ordinary protagonist.
It is a movie so no filler episodes. The ending is a bit too perfect, but at least it made me feel a bit less empty for a short time.
I would definitely recommend watching this in bed before going to sleep, perhaps you will have a nice dream, in any case it's not like you have anything better to do!

“No matter how long it takes, I’ll be here, waiting for you to return.”
This sentence really describes how the anime wanted to say to their audience.
with moderate pace, they can express the emotion between the main characters and the heroine
with their own problem. Honestly it got same vibe as your name and Suzume, but this anime use the element of time paradox that rare to be used in this type of genre. With a good story isn't enough to satisfy, this anime show a beautiful scenery especially in the tunnel, good lighting that not just good, it give a warm vibe to us, so we aren't get distracted and can focus to the main story

Good watch. Looking back at it, the cast was very small and the concept was very simple however it was executed fairly well. The visuals and animation were great, as they are in most anime movies.
The movie felt a little bit lackluster at times towards the end because I felt the characters weren't reacting as emotional as they should when something would happen that would warrant a fairly strong reaction. This was not the case for most scenes though as I did end up tearing up a few times.
The biggest gripe i would have is that the ending felt fairly quick and wasn't as emotional of a reunion they could've had.
Although in a world full of trash anime this anime without a doubt stands on its feet. Definitely worth a watch.
Favourite scene: Female lead sitting at the bus stop at the end.

I watched The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes with some friends, and honestly the group dynamic made me like it even more. One of them really didn’t enjoy it, which somehow just pushed me further in the opposite direction. Sometimes hearing nonstop complaints during a movie just confirms that you’re on the right side of things.
The movie itself was very fire. It has a quiet, emotional tone that worked really well for me, and the pacing felt intentional rather than slow. It took its time with the story and trusted the viewer to sit with the emotions instead of spelling everything out, which I appreciated.
Watching it with friends added another layer to the experience, especially given how differently everyone reacted. The same person who couldn’t get into the movie also happens to…

It seems like a truly impressive work from beginning to end, and it really is. The beauty of the animation is remarkable and deeply captivating. The attention to detail and the overall animation quality help create a visually immersive world.
The development of the couple is another strong point of the story. The way Kaoru and Hanashiro deal with their individual struggles while exploring the mysteries of the tunnel together adds a very human and emotional layer to the narrative.
The chemistry between the characters is palpable, and viewers can’t help but root for the couple, which I definitely did, especially near the end when they’re about to be together again.
Even though their relationship doesn’t receive extremely deep development, it’s interesting how they only realize their fee…

I write reviews for one simple reason, to highlight stories that are worthy of your and my time. And "The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes" is a film that absolutely deserves the time.
It's true, many fans of the original light novel point out that the movie had to cut a significant number of scenes. Since I haven't read it, I can't judge what was left behind. But I can say this with complete confidence, what the movie does present is excellent.
The filmmakers have masterfully condensed the core narrative into a powerful, self-contained experience. The story of the Urashima Tunnel, a mysterious passage that restores what's lost at the cost of time, remains impactful. The relationship between Kaoru and Anzu feels authentic and deeply moving, and the climax lands with incredible for…

My favorite aspect of this movie would have to be its animation. You can tell that a lot of love was put on to it. The smallest of details and the vibrant colors gives it so much life, to the point you're drawn to it. It has to be one of the main reasons why I am giving it a pretty high score.
The plot is great too! It's similar to "Your Name" as it involves the concept of time as well. If you're a fan of fantasy and romance, I say give this one a shot, as it consists of the two genres. The pacing may be a bit off for a bit, but to be honest, you don't really realize it until the end. The animation really leaves you breathless at times and the relationship dynamics of the characters and their families can be gut-wrenching too.
The ending may confuse you, so I suggest searching it up af…

While people may complain about the overall pacing of this adaptation I think this movie is incredibly well done for the amount of time it had. I think it might have been better in anime format with a season or two but I feel like we would have lost a LOT of the quality that made this movie so beautiful. The colors were vibrant, the emotion in both dub and sub were raw, and the struggle is real. so overall while you might not like the pacing of it, the story still stands on its own two feet with a supernatural, psychological & romantic twist that you just don't see in a lot of films! I have ALWAYS loved when they take a supernatural element and mix in a bit of romance. So this series was right up my alley. If you are looking for something that has similar supernatural vibes to SummerTime R…

Urashima Tunnel grants wishes in exchange for time. More specifically, whatever one desires lies somewhere along the tunnel. However, time goes much faster when going through the tunnel, and thus by the time the traversers reach what they wish for, the world moves on and leaves them behind. This film chronicles two high school students, Touno Kaoru and Hanashiro Anzu, who each have their own set of complicated circumstances but are united in that they each have wishes that they believe only the tunnel can grant.
Still, choosing to go through the tunnel is quite the decision, and thus they extensively investigate the tunnel before committing. This takes up the majority of the film. To be honest, this investigation yields very little information of value. The pair do seem to discover rules…

Subtly beautiful movie that pulls on your heart in a way that's not asking for too much. There's something about the stunning visuals that movies in this genre have, that feels so plain, yet impossible to look away from. The constant subversion of expectation throughout the climax and resolution creates an experience that forces you to stop trying to guess what happens next, and just let it play out. There's a silent allure to a story that can wring your heart out while also keeping you on your toes. And characters with realistic struggles create that kind of tenuous charm that pulls you out of your exhausting reality, and into a world devoid of anything but what's on screen.

Tunnel of Summer is a sentimental adolescent anime that I really enjoyed in various ways. To start, I appreciated the essentiality and substance of the content, which seldom tried to rely on unnecessary elements of circumstance or fillers in an attempt to unnecessarily enrich what really matters. Every scene or phrase seemed to me to seek and transmit a very specific sensation never done only by chance but carefully planned by its author.
I also appreciated in particular the camera angles, which I found sometimes even quite refined and effective in enriching the perception of the scene, like in some cases of first-person view. The drawing style is equally essential but effective as well, with a pinch of dark bluish tone in order to transmit a bit of melancholic tone. The anime of course…

A great short story about coming to terms with the past and embracing the future. The movie is short, sweet, and showcases decent enough character growth to encapsulate you with their actions. Each character has a believable set of behaviors that feels natural and bounces decently well amongst one another. There are sad moments that can prompt you to reflect on your real-world circumstances and to engage them with a different outlook. The art style is pleasant to observe, with detailed backgrounds and aesthetically pleasing outfits. Trauma and grief were portrayed respectfully, with impactful reactions that, although harsh, are still very believable. Overall, if you have two hours to set aside and want something emotional to dive into, this is a great film to do so.

Amazing and very creative plot, but in my opinion read the light novel instead
The movie feels really rushed and somewhat incomplete, and there were very annoying potholes in the end and the ending wasn't well written, as a standalone it is worth watching, but it is better in my opinion to read the light novel instead if you don't despise reading. You will be missing out on the great soundtrack and animation, but the lacking plot in the movie makes the choice clear in my opinion, read the light novel.
However the movie is still good, but again, I couldn't tell you to favor watching the movie over reading the light novel if you enjoy reading.

This was such a banger of a movie man. I got super sad after realizing the fact if i will ever again see something as good as this. Like I felt I had to a backflip and give it a standing ovation. I may be glazing it bit but definitely a 10/10 in my books. The concept of the tunnel is cool as well and the art style fits it perfectly. Maybe there could have been more characters and maybe a realistic development between the leads but overall I wouldn't mind being hit on the head so I could rewatch this movie for the first time again.

Its just alright really. The Tunnel to Summer has such a melancholic and angsty vibe its almost hard to take seriously in parts. Most of the characters are void of personality and any kind of interesting traits. It seems as though Taguchi aimed to create almost an entirely bleak atmosphere throughout the duration. This does contrast well with the scenes in the Tunnel which are stunningly beautiful. My main problem with this movie is how cliche and generic the main characters plot line is leaving him a very uncompelling and boring presence. It's abundantly clear that this was written to tell Anzu's story and it doesn't even try to hide that. Anzu's story was clearly the highlight, reminding me somewhat of John Keats in his actual life. Conversations over artistic insecurity and legacy are e…

A movie that tells the story of a 2 teenagers and their interactions with a tunnel that gives you something in exchange for your lifespan.
I might be an outliner, but I cannot say I liked it a lot. Felt very fast paced, some things didn't make much sense, the interactions felt a lot of times very... robotic? Scripted? Not enough time for me to get attached to anyone much, the climax and the main point of the story felt rushed as hell and we were left wondering about certain things... at least if they extended it a bit more and said more about what comes after the story of this movie, I would have liked it a bit more, but alas, they didn't do that. And if that wasn't enough, I find from comments that they've changed stuff in the movie compared to the light novel (which is the source materi…
