This film seamlessly continues the themes and artwork of the original series, and the character drama which the story revolves around strikes well at the same themes of humanity and connection as its predecessor.
However, while the story is still immersive and the artwork still breathtaking, I cannot help but feel the main character conflict in this film was not expressed with excellence. Violet Evergarden has this knack where it is very certain with its dialogue, especially around its conflicts, and often times will just choose to reiterate over saying something new. With that being said, I feel the dialogue surrounding the main conflict failed to intuitively connect the characters struggle to the audience, which is a huge issue when we rely upon the repetition and re-contextualisation o…

If you really liked the original anime for what it was, do NOT watch this movie it ruins the entire thing. Won't go into details as not to spoil anything, but this movie invalidates everything that made Violet a compelling and interesting character in the first place. All for the sake of fan service.
The animation and music are still beautiful, but I just can't condone that kind of writing ever.
In my (humble) opinion, the original anime was absolutely sufficient and did not need follow-ups, it was a bittersweet, tragic but beautiful and meaningful ending to a well rounded story. The Specials are okay, just lacking compared to the original series, however this movie actually ruins the entire story

A satisfying ending to the anime series, a timely reminder of our human connections, and homage to the deceased animators from KyoAni's arson attack.
This probably isn't an objective review. It's hard to separate the art from the artist given the deeply tragic events at Kyoto Animation. This movie consisted of the final personal contributions from the various animators that died in the arson attack -- creators and contributors of many notable works including Violet Evergarden, Haruhi Suzumiya and A Silent Voice. The themes of love, loss, longing and reunion are ever present in this masterpiece.
The movie itself was a recap of beloved cast members in the TV series. The story was clever, tying in three separate stories with character growth and emotional catharsis for everyone. All of this…

For readers who love romance, especially age-gap romances with couples who have an age difference, as is classic in literature, which we see so often in films, series, games, books, light novels, and manga, with stories involving teenage girls and adult men as romantic pairs that portray traditional, conservative couples that still resonate in our contemporary society. In short, considering all these factors, the Violet Evergarden movie is the conclusion of the love cycle and the profound story about the human feeling of love of the main protagonist of the series. It is highly recommended to watch the entire series and the previous films before watching this last film in the franchise to catch all the references and understand the emotional weight and message of love that is conveyed in th…

Significantly better than the anime. I gave the anime a 7/10, but this film is on a whole other level. Finally, we get some closure. This movie wraps up the most important plot point that all 13 episodes kept pushing. And it does so in a way that's both emotionally impactful and wholly satisfying. For me, the anime was a hit or miss because each episode had its own story to tell. Some episodes I liked, and some I found rather slow. Because this movie has no stopping points, it's able to flesh out Violet's story at a continuous pace. The animation is more fluid and the scenes are more dramatic. Violet is more expressive and her feelings are better pronounced. It's the perfect medium for this series. I feel like the anime was just a pre-requisite for me to enjoy this movie lol. Some might ar…

The visuals were an absolute treat. There was beauty in almost every scene. KyoAni's artstyle for its characters have a timeless, rich quality. The English voice acting was acceptable. Despite the lack of any standout performances, it felt necessary given the show's setting that does not suit Japanese.
Unfortunately, KyoAni's insistence on condescending its audience brings the movie down from a MAL (7) to a (4). This is a picture that is afraid of silence. Having every scene accompanied by some swelling, boisterous orchestral piece took away more than it added. They really wanted to tell their viewers how to feel rather than trust in their process. I could only imagine the sort of people who would enjoy this are those who need everything spelled out for them.

First of all, I don't speak English, so my English is a crap, so take that into consideration...
After watching all the series, and the movies either in the cinema or via streaming websites, the character Violet Evergarden is very boring, annoying, and uninteresting. Even though this anime and some of the characters have a special place for the audience, for me there is nothing special.
No matter how well we're trained as killer dolls, there are times when we become physically and mentally exhausted. But here, Violet seems to be shaped like a cyborg, duh! Even though she was discovered at a very young age and in the story she's still young. He was looking for someone who was initially his teacher, his leader in the field, then the story changed, he was looking for that person because he…

If I had a time-machine, I would go back in time and advise myself to not watch this movie.
The plot of this movie un-does a lot of the character development that was established along the anime series, and thus, I now see the entire franchise as a negative thing.
It also contains some level of recycling of themes which were already touched on anime series, giving a feeling that we are wasting time.
Before the half-mark, everything is very predictable.
So all I can do for you now, without giving spoilers, is to advise you to not watch this.

I view myself as an emotionless person, but I fell in love with this series.
The characters, the chrogrophy, the art style, I couldn't wish for a better ending.
I don't cry often, but for the first time ever, my mind had to keep telling my body Stop crying, calm down, this isn't real, it's an anime, control your breath, or your health will get worse as I was born sick with a weak body and lung issues. I always go with what my mind tells me, with no regard for my body or self, but my mind... itself couldn't comprehend that it was in a state of sorrow and mourning.
It kept feeling that until the end of the movie, when it got to the end, I felt something. I looked at my chest, and I couldn't help but feel something; my heart was warm.
People might not understand how hard it is for someo…

Gonna keep it short and spoilers free.
Story itself is predictable and cliched, but thats not the issue. It could have been a nice story of tragic love, of lovers, separated and wounded by flames of war and trying to accept their loss and deal with it, and thats the impression story gives at start, at least in show.
But the further it goes, the more obvious it becomes that author is INTENTIONALLY trying to squeeze tears by overstretching it and adding hardly meaningful episodes rather than keep story compact but interesting. This movie is not exception, story of boy in hospital was NOT needed, show already build enough backstory and should have just moved on straight to the ending.
Violet's past also stays mystery, while it holds big potential.
Another big problem of this movie is male h…

Important: the movie is absolutely essential to watch in order to bring Violet Evergarden’s story to a proper close.
As for the review, it’s clear the film wants to stir up your emotions. I thought it was a bit less subtle than the series, but, it works so well. It’s incredibly moving, I was in tears from start to finish. The direction and the characters’ emotions are so powerful that honestly, the film would’ve been just as emotional even without any music.
Every single shot looks like it could be a wallpaper...
If you’ve seen and loved the series but haven’t watched the movie yet, go watch it right now!

Guys, think about all the shitty anime you have been watching and holding onto. This gem and not watching it? You should be ashamed of yourself for calling yourself an anime fan. But you are a first-time anime watcher. Go ahead and watch it. You will have a wonderful time. Getting into watching anime is a daunting task because starting with a show can be confusing, but watching an anime movie is easy and will not waste so much of the time you have invested. Your first choice should be this anime. This anime has English names are easy to follow. (Not only one reason but several ones for first time watchers it is must)
Hope your journey through this masterpiece is a wonderful experience.

Some films aren’t just watched, they’re felt.
Violet Evergarden: The Movie is one of those rare experiences that leaves something behind after the credits roll. It’s not loud or dramatic. It doesn’t demand your tears. But it earns them. Quietly. Carefully. Completely.
The story continues everything the series built up grief, healing, connection, and the desperate human need to understand love in all its forms. Rather than rushing to a grand finale, the film slows down. It lets the emotions settle. It allows characters to breathe, to reflect, to choose. And that’s what makes it so moving.
Kyoto Animation once again delivers visual storytelling on a level that’s hard to put into words. Every frame feels intentional from soft glows of candlelight to subtle shifts in a character’s posture. N…

I rarely talk about movies, but this one is a masterpiece with a great ending that will never be repeated.Evagarden Violet Thus ends her journey full of lessons, wisdom, understanding of life, and the meaning of the words “I love you.”Which she always wanted to To understand it
Also, characters like Gilberto and others were very wonderfully written and inspiring. A satisfactory ending has several rules required for it to be a satisfactory ending.First, solve the knot in a What I mean by the contract is the inspired ambiguity.Characters wanted A character must achieve what he wants, even if he does not reach it. There must be a way. Here the anime fulfilled all those desires.Drama and the construction of the priest The construction of the castle is very classic but distinctive. The story r…

[This review will include my overall opinion on the series, along with most of its additional content and this movie, as one finished and complete story. If, somehow, you have watched this movie but have not watched the show it is concluding, consider yourself warned for spoilers for both? I suppose.]

this film is a continuation of a tv show that I held dearly in my heart, to see it ruined I just had to vent about my frustration for this film. so we had violet coming to terms with the major's "death" at the end of the tv show, just for the movie to regress everything back in terms of violet's development and resolution to serve a contrived romantic plot that is without a doubt problematic at best. only good thing about this movie (kyoani's strength) is its realistic(?) artstyle, superb animation and voice acting, which had the least of my attention tbh when this film features a pedophile as the main lead. I was surprised at the overwhelming positive responses this film had despite its not only problematic values but also its lackluster continuation for its female lead's character develo…

I have recently watched Violet Evergarden Anime the series as a whole was very good it had a lot of sentimentality a lot of heartfelt and sad moments so seeing that the sequel movie has even higher scores than the anime I went it expecting a lot but it really fell flat and it is kinda a bummer that it did. The character development of Gilbert is super questionable and the movie even plays out the "I can't be with you and go away" cliche which was something I never expected to see happen with this story. The Good part is related to the girl and the kid in the hospital those parts truly felt like they were indeed a good successor to the anime stories we all saw and maybe even cried watching. Due to heavy spoilers I will not make further comments on why the story fell flat it speaks for itsel…

So are we all just okay with a 29yo man having feelings for a 14yo girl? Or are we all just pretending it’s platonic??? OR??!?
I loved the series. I wanted to love this movie, but like many other reviews have pointed out, it essentially erases all of Violet’s progress with mental and emotional growth. ~sigh~
I also really love a love story, but I cannot get behind this age gap. I dgaf if it was “normal” or “appropriate” for that time period. Just NOOO.
The art is incredible.
But this story and ending…not realistic and honestly disappointing.
Watch for the art, maybe not for the plot. And definitely not for the grown man grooming a child trope.

Violet's journey from soldier to writer is incredible. Her struggles to understand emotions and find purpose really resonated with me. And the supporting cast? Amazing! Gilbert's gentle guidance and Cattleya's sassiness added so much depth.
The animation? Gorgeous! Kyoto Animation's attention to detail transported me to Telesis. Every frame, every color choice, every expression felt deliberate and stunning made me shed a tear.
What really stands out, though, is how thoughtfully Violet explores human emotions. It tackles tough themes like grief, trauma, and the power of words without holding back.
Favorite Part- Violet's character growth and those poignant letters she writes I just loved it.
