Love Through a Prism

Introduction

In early-1900s London, Lili Ichijouin, a Japanese exchange student travels to England to enroll in the prestigious Saint Thomas Art Academy. Determined to become a painter, she arrives under pressure: her parents expect her to rise to the top of her class within six months or return home. Lili's drive intensifies when she encounters Kit Church, a gifted aristocratic student known for his talent and detachment. While Kit has devoted himself entirely to painting, Lili's sincerity and resilience begin to shift something in him. The two share little beyond their love for art, yet their relationship quickly becomes central to life at the academy. (Source: Netflix, edited)

For a long time, I completely ignored this anime because, just by looking at the cover, I assumed it was an ordinary romance series with a classic English-inspired setting. When I finally decided to watch it, I realized just how mistaken I had been. I can say without a doubt that it is one of the best romantic drama series I have ever watched, perhaps even the best. I watched every episode with great interest. I didn’t just focus on the events themselves; I also spent a long time admiring the breathtaking scenery in the background and even the smallest details that had clearly been crafted with great care. From the very first episodes, the series gives you a sense of what kind of story you are about to experience. As the episodes progress, you start thinking, “It’s going to turn out exact…

loved the show overall it was beautiful in every way animation, colours, sound design, character... wit studio magic is there it's insanely beautiful to watch. story was decent one, while at times it can feel it's bit predictable (and it is) but last 3 ep is peak of the show. for me the eps 18 & 19 were my fav, I loved the artistic and narrative choice in that ep (iykyk what I am taking about). Ending was good and it did land perfectly-it wraps things up in a way that fits the tone and theme of series perfectly. this show is not a masterpiece or anything, but this is one of those show which is very calming, helps forget your life you and let you just sink peace.

Prism Love is the embodiment of wasted potential. It’s a romance anime that leaves you honestly rooting against the female lead because he’s precious and she is ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. She quite frankly is verbally abusive to him when all he does is try to do right by her and the worst part is she doesn’t learn and continues to repeat the same mistakes (she says she knows were wrong) in some pitiful attempt to draw out the plot. The story would have been great if they had one miscommunication only and cut out all the extra time skips. You can express the importance and value of following your dreams and doing your duty without all the unnecessary drama. If it seems too much, it is. The other biggest issue is questions aren’t answered. If you are going to drag out the story for 10 more episodes t…

Love through a Prism is a 2026 historical, romantic, and dramatic anime produced by WIT Studio and distributed by Netflix. It consists of 20 episodes, ranging from the standard 25 minutes to about 40. The premise follows Lili (or Riri), a twenty-year-old Japanese girl with a passion for painting, who convinces her parents to let her move to early 1900s London to attend the prestigious Saint Thomas Art Academy. She gets their permission, but on one condition: she can only stay if she becomes the number one student in her course within six months. However, there’s already a number one at the academy. Can Lili really beat Kit?! The animation is excellent—after all, WIT Studio has spoiled us with high-quality work. I especially appreciated the unique use of color in certain moments to emphas…

Prism Rondo was one of those anime that completely caught me by surprise. I didn't go into it expecting much, but the story slowly pulled me in with its atmosphere, characters, and the world surrounding art. I really enjoyed the setting in early 1900s London. It gives the anime a different atmosphere from the usual stories I watch, and the focus on painting and artistic ambition made everything feel a little more personal. Watching Lili pursue her dream while dealing with the expectations placed on her was one of the aspects I found most interesting. The relationship between Lili and Kit was also something I enjoyed. Their connection develops through their shared passion for art, and I liked seeing how two people with different personalities and goals could still understand each other thro…

I really cried a lot at the end; it felt so perfect. Every word they said, everything they'd kept bottled up for so many years, was so heartwarming. I long for a love like theirs. I cried because it ended and because of how much they made me feel. It's one of my favorite anime series now. I love it, I love it, and I wish I could watch it again without knowing what happens next. I loved the anime's art and design; they truly conveyed all the passion Lili and Kit felt for art, and I could feel it completely within me. It reminded me of the reasons why I love drawing and creating so much. I absolutely loved Lili. I felt so connected to her, and even though Kit kept his feelings bottled up until the very end, the fact that he was finally able to express everything he had felt during that time…

Love Through a Prism is best described as artistic expression interwoven into heartfelt character-driven storytelling. The production itself lends to the narrative, with aesthetically pleasing painterly backgrounds, illustrated techniques, historical references, and thoughtful color theory supporting the writing. Gentle imagery and subtle scores are used to convey emotional messages within various interpersonal relationships, dramatic moments, and romantic scenes. This series has cliches, and often restrains development for tension. But it also breaks through many conventions. Many of its episodes are given additional runtime to help deliver meaningful themes well. This was created with passion. And without question, it is a sincere, genuine, and rewarding experience.

This was a lot of fun; it felt very classic in a way that was comforting while also doing some things I've never seen before. Firstly, I want to shout out the wonderful artists who made the pieces for this anime. Whenever they'd show someone's art there was a clear distinction in quality that really lend itself to the story. Like Lili isn't just good because we like her, but her paintings are genuinely beautiful and that's hard to portray especially in a way that's visible to the everyman who doesn't know much about oil painting. This is a pretty easy recommendation at the end of the day. It's an original fully realized Shoujo romance that hits all the right notes. There is most certainly room for improvement, but my complaints are few and far in between. The characters are all super fun,…

Love through a prism is one of those animes that will leave you questioning yourself and your dreams and your passions and the way you choose to live your life. It's not just your typical modern romance that only focuses on the romantic relationship between two characters. Different kinds of love and bonds are portrayed throughout the series and the roles the side characters play feels important. Although the side characters are not fully fleshed out, they each have their own backstory, hopes, dreams, and experience a bit of character development. The artstyle is a breath of fresh air and unique in it's own way. The ending was definitey a bit rocky but I think it landed okay and aligned with the shows message. If you're interested in a story that involves romance, has more depth and gives…

The anime offers a calm and soothing atmosphere throughout. With no clear villains or unnecessary drama, it provides a relaxing viewing experience that doesn’t feel exhausting. The story progresses in a more slice-of-life manner, focusing on simple moments rather than intense conflicts, which makes it especially easy to watch. The art style is somewhat different from typical anime, yet it has a unique charm of its own. Although I generally prefer more classic styles, I found this one surprisingly appealing, and it became more enjoyable over time. Another strong aspect is the absence of complex plot twists or heavy intrigue. Instead of relying on dramatic tension, the anime maintains a simple and smooth narrative flow. This makes it a great choice for anyone looking for a light, peaceful,…

Dismissed it for being VERY easy on the eyes with a cliche romance story. However, Love Through a Prism surprisingly touched me despite how frustrating it can be. The first arc was definitely the weakest, being the typical romance with rose-colored glasses. I did compare it to Bridgerton where London feels like a fantasyland where classism, racism, or sexism is an inconvenience to the love plot, but not something to overcome for the characters. Then, the show suddenly decided to get real right when I was about to drop it (during the grand party arc). Characters start to reveal their insecurities and ugly thought, the friendship grows bitter, but also sweeter, and life starts to hit them. I was hook. Still, one thing that remains the same throughout is how naive Lili is. I think I can bla…

Netflix's "Love Through A Prism" is a Pure Work of Art ✨ This is probably the best Anime Original Content we got in a very long time! This had everything that a naturally developed Romance Drama needs. As a fan of Classic Novels like Little Women, Pride and Prejudice, Anne of Green Gables and many more, "Love Though A Prism" hit me hard with its beautifully crafted story similar to the classic novels I grew up reading. Set in the early 1900's, Yoko Kamio's "Love Through A Prism" tells the story of Lili Ichijouin, a 20 year old Japanese girl who travels to England to study art at a prestigious Art School. Lili has only one goal in her heart and that is to become the number one artist at this prestigious school and fulfil her dream of becoming a professional artist. Then at this art schoo…

How often do we get an original, beautifully animated, fully realized, 20 episode complete series? This never happens anymore, and especially with the quality. Prism Rondo is a fantastic new romance from the creator of Boys Over Flowers and everything about the work screams quality. From the eminently likable characters, the unmatched background art quality, and the expressive, detailed character designs. Prism Rondo fully embraces its identity as a artist's romance, creating an romanticized ideal of early 1910s England in peerless delight. Our protagonist, Lili, is a young woman from Japan intent on becoming the best artist in the English Art Academy. There, she meets a large cohort of wonderfully developed friends and her core rival and romantic interest in Kit Church, an aloof but unb…

A show that is often carried by its gorgeous backgrounds. It has an interesting setup with our MC having to prove herself before a certain deadline, but the supposed pressure of the deadline is rarely felt. I think this anime(or the manga it was based on) wants to say something meaningful about developping as a young artist and many times it succeeds. My main issue with the show is that most of the time this theme gets either pushed to the background or is delivered in a somewhat sloppy way. The two leads -Kit and Lili- are likeable enough even tho Lili's naievité/quirkyness feels a bit too much at times. The other characters are mostly generic anime-tropes, but most of them get some characterization to keep you engaged in their presence. Story-wise, there are some twists and turns, but m…

Love Through a Prism is the kind of show that sneaks up on you. You start watching thinking you know what you're in for: pretty animation, a soft romance, something easy and then somewhere along the way it just gets you (and the story is not as lighthearted as you might think!). At its core, this is a story about what it actually means to chase your passion something. Not the idealized version of passion you paint in your head, but what it looks like when it collides with reality. With deadlines, with doubt, with other people's expectations, with your own limitations. Every character is wrestling with that question in their own way, and none of them have an easy answer. Their strengths and weaknesses feel genuine, and even the side characters leave an impression. And then there's Lili a…

Prism Rondo is a slow anime, but it hits really deep. It doesn’t rely on big plot twists or loud drama—the way it builds emotion is subtle, but it lands. Visually, it’s beautiful. The European vibe—especially the England setting—feels calm, artistic, and a bit melancholic, which fits perfectly with its themes of art and unspoken feelings. The story follows Lili, a young painter who goes to England, and Kit—a laid-back, slightly messy guy who turns out to be incredibly talented. Their relationship is the core of the story. They’re clearly in love, everyone can see it, but neither of them ever says anything. It’s frustrating, but also very real. Not your typical kind of love story, they both have flaws, but they expressed their feeling in their own diff ways. The characters are strong, in…

Love Through a Prism (プリズム輪舞曲) is both wonderfully written and animated. The visual artistry of this anime transcends reality. The meticulous detail in every frame captures the authentic essence of early 20th-centuary London and Scotland, using stunning backgrounds, recreating specific historical and architectural details. The streets of London as well as the whole anime itself makes use of a subdued color grade, having a slightly muted yet industrial aesthetic reflecting a 1900s urban atmosphere like setting. In episodes 18-19 the color grading shifts entirely to black and white during a low point in Lili's life, symbolizing her loss for artistic inspiration. Some scenes of the paintings have the visible texture of brush stokes on a canvas making the anime a visual spectacle. The pacing…

Still standing oblivious as to why people love this anime so much... I kept seeing it over and over on all my socials and wanted to check and see what the hype was all about. I really believed i was in for a treat with other people's reviews, as well as the beginning which looked very promising and showed some GORGEOUS shots and beautiful art style. The disappointment began shortly after, just after few episodes, when i started seeing cliches and every trope possible happening one after another. There wasn't one single moment where i didn't know what would happen so i am very confused as to why is this considered a masterpiece when you can find this same storyline anywhere you look. FL was obnoxious and irritable in every way possible. I am really tired of clumsy and clueless FL that i…

Prism Rondo is an anime that I really want to love, but unfortunately the story is a narrative disaster with the amount of cliches given and with how safe they are with the story. For the positives, the show's overall lighthearted tone are displayed incredibly well, the chemistry of the friend group felt natural and never once their chumminess felt forced during the group outings, the sceneries of the lands of England are simply stunning, the characters of the show most of the time are very fun, and a lot of the artistic choices in the anime make for great entertainment. It's clear the show was made with a lot of heart and soul put into it, the animation never lacks and the comedy displayed is also written well here. The OST while felt overused by Episode 11+ is still pretty good. Howeve…

Beautiful picture, beautiful story. If you are looking for a heart-warming anime with beautiful art to watch, this is the one. You will get to enjoy London and Yokohama in the old time. The clothing is well designed. The male lead may look like a homeless at first, but he will get hotter when he cut his hair lol. As an artist who haven’t pick up brushes for a long time feels like I want to make new fine art again. Subtract 1 star due to the female lead is somehow a bit annoying. Other than that, everything else is so fine.
