Story - [ 7.5/10 ]
‘Carole & Tuesday’, while not incredibly complex, does a good job of accomplishing everything it sets out to do. It’s easy to watch for any type of viewer – whether you’re someone that wants to deeply inspect the story or simply enjoy a coming-of-age story with incredible music. The thing that makes the story of ‘Carole & Tuesday’ easy to access is its range of ideas and its ability to naturally incorporate them, from the unity of music, organic vs artificial and Identity. You’re bound to find an aspect of the show you can enjoy.
Characters - [ 6.5/10 ] ‘Carole & Tuesday’ does a solid job of making you care about the main cast and fleshing out their wants and needs. Where I feel it fails is the supporting cast, and there are a lot of them. During the first half of t…

When I first watched Carole & Tuesday in 2019, my assessment was unremarkable. It was competent, neither especially impressive nor notably poor. Revisiting it several years later, however, in a period defined by the rapid normalisation of generative AI and algorithmically produced music, the series presents itself rather differently.
What once appeared to be a speculative premise now feels distinctly contemporary. Carole & Tuesday was among the earlier mainstream anime to pose a clear question: what happens when music production becomes almost entirely automated. In 2019 this functioned as a hypothetical concern. Today it…

A love letter to music.
I watched the first 4 episodes of Carole & Tuesday back when it was airing, and as soon as I heard the Loneliest Girl, I knew this was gonna be a special experience, for some reason though I paused and it’s taken me over 6 years to finally watch and finish.
Carole and Tuesday are just a wonderful pair of main characters, great design and chemistry and they make you want to root for them the entire time, even when other aspects of the show were lacking, they are enough keep you invested. The rest of the cast is really solid too for the most part.
Ultimately this is a love letter to music and you feel it from the first moment until the very end, so many music references and it pays homage to many genres and time periods of music, with a ridiculous amount of insert…

I have no clue how this show is close to an 8. It is probably the worst anime about music that I have seen so far.
All songs are 4 verses repeated over and over, with a lot of these verses being a single word repeated multiple time.... yeah. And btw in this universe good song = high pitch.
Not only that the finale might be the cringiest thing in the world, somehow they predicted the covid actors singing *for all the people*, cause the last few episodes is literally just that.
Most of the show is not focused on music, but they have random pointless tangents like a dipshit being depressed over nothing, and people we dont care about being depressed over other stuff. Instead of showing us songs, they decided it is better to show the reaction to the songs from the producer, sounds like fun :…

Musical anime? More like a political crap.
Characters in this anime are white, black, brown, gay, lesbian, trans, hermaphrodite and mixed sexuality, but this isn't even a big problem.
Earth is in complete degrade and decline, so people started to live on Mars and built there a new society.
I wonder why things went bad on Earth.
Now immigrants starts coming to Mars and here is the political debate that doesn't belong to an musical anime, how black people are oppressed, how illegal immigrants should be accepted even if they are illegal, bla bla bla.
Even many songs are political centered.
Some songs are good, but overall the story is filled with political crap.

Browsing anime genre music and I was fooled by the cover photo of this anime which is not interesting but the rating is quite good but after finishing watching this anime my expectations are in accordance with the rating. My impression of the main story for the main character is unique, Carole with a tomboyish nature while Tuesday with her innocent and careless nature, this is a balanced and complementary combination. The setting of the story is also the planet Mars so it reminds me of the Aria series. The concept of the story is also unique for anime genre music different from most anime of the same type, a duo singer who tries to be famous and makes his debut through various ways that I think are realistic according to reality in the real world, even in the story of this anime the confli…

Simultaneously among the worst things Watanabe has ever directed, while still being a boundlessly heartwarming and optimistic parable about the timeless power of music. With every passing year Watanabe’s notion about the value of the human element in the creation of art becomes more relevant, with the ominous possibility of Carole and Tuesday’s dystopian AI-dominated music industry becoming more and more plausible. I do think it’s a little ironic that in spite of this messaging, about 70% of the series’s song catalogue feels like it was written by an algorithm, but perhaps that was intentional, as the music of the main duo does generally serve as an exception.
Still, I’m glad that the main conceit of the first half of the series is soon abandoned in favour of one more interesting; here W…

(SPOILER FREE - Review written from a Musician's POV)
Plot: 6/10
The anime was rather accurate in portraying the ugly and the good in the entertainment/music industry, so I really liked that! However, the relationship building between characters are either vague or underdeveloped. Characters' decisions are abrupt sometimes or do not make much sense, and that was mainly what I wasn't fond of story-wise.
Art: 7/10
The artstyle is pretty, but the animation is lacking quite a bit, I see way too many repeated frames sometimes and it threw me off just a little. Lip syncing, especially during singing, is very off. Loved how diverse the characters are though!
Music: 9/10
The music is what I loved most about this anime, naturally. The harmonies between the 2 MCs are absolutely BEAUTIFUL. I loved…

i thought this anime was wonderful! was looking for something that brought representation, as got tired of works that only show whiteness and heteronormativity, and was surprised to see many black and lgbtq+ characters, in addition to the interesting approach to shanty towns and social inequality, immigration and refugees, censorship in art and freedom of expression, family issues and independence, etc. the relationship between humans and artificial intelligence is also a relevant topic, as there is a deep questioning about our existence and contribution. the soundtrack is amazing, especially love the songs "the loneliest girl", "mother", "kiss me", "unbreakable", "miserere mei, deus", "all i see", "give you the world", " endless", "after the fire", etc. it is interesting to follow the dev…

Its definitely not the best anime out there. Its not something you watch for an absolutely amazing plot and characters, which you closely analyze. Rather its one of those animes where you can turn off your brain and mindlessly consume (and forget about later on). Some of the songs were nice. The repeated intro is annoying. I wouldn't recommend this show if you are looking for something nuanced and developed.
The plot is pretty straight forward. The main characters as singers arent that special, something that becomes obvious when other artists are introduced. But somehow, with the power of being anime mcs everyone thinks they are. AS far as character development goes, Angela is the only one. The rest of the characters either do a 180 at the last moment (the antagonists) or stay consistent…

It is early 2023 and I am here because of Shinichirō Watanabe. Yes, I am as surprised as you are - this show is one of his works. Than why did I heard of it 3 years after it's release, I wonder?... Why isn't it the next big hit?
Fisrt of all, I'm a big fan of Watanabe's work - Samurai Champloo is my all-time favourite anime. So I was thrilled when I found out there's something I might have missed in my hectic everyday life. Plus I'm not having the best time of my life right now so I needed something light-hearted to lift my spirits.
And Carol&Tuesday does that - cheers you up. The story isn't heavy, the characters are cool, funny and the dialogue between them is generally enjoyable, I laughed more than once. The animation is actually great. The music is beautiful, simple and catchy - I w…

This anime is very cute— Something to take your mind off things.. Very innocent and heartfelt. The main characters are such beautiful characters with their own personalities that shape the story. The songs are somewhat childish I would say, But at the same time they are like 17.. Plus the cute upbeat, easy lyric songs really add to them if that makes sense. I feel like the music choice and the way the make and deliver it just adds onto how perfect and beautiful their characters are.
All of the songs are in English oddly, but I like that factor too I guess.

Geez, this one turned into a mess.
STORY:
Tuesday runs away from home because she feels suffocated or something. She finds Carole, the black girl, and they become a singing duo, blah blah blah. It's very "Hallmark" in many ways. The story is boring and there are many plot holes and dumb political bullshit that didn't need to be put in here. Clearly people don't like Trump, or at least these Japanese people dont and it shows. There's also dumb crap about how black people are oppressed on Earth because they can't come to Mars or some crap like that. It's really dumb BLM shit that shouldn't be in an anime about music.
ART:
Really good and the animation is fine, though I am not an expert on this at all so don't take my word for it.
SOUND:
Again, not an expert but seems fine to me. Some of t…

NO SPOILERS!! just saying how much i love this anime :)
this will be the one and only review i ever write on this website so im serious when i say this one one of my absolute favorite animes!!
first of all it has a mc that's poc w/o being racist!!!!!!! (+ has other poc characters that are portrayed well too!!!!!!) the other people complaining abt this are literally just racist lol
secondly!!!!!!!! THE MUSIC. EVERY SINGLE SONG THAT HAS COME FROM THIS ANIME IS AN ABSOLUTE BANGER. if i could only listen to songs from 1 anime for the rest of my life it would be the songs that the producers of this anime created. they're all so well made that if i didn't know they were attached to this anime i would still like them!!!!
i loved the idea of making the setting be in the future on mars but sti…

It had lots of underused potential, but regardless it takes the audience to many different beautiful sceneries. It is all around an aesthetic anime. The music was very good, there were many different places to explore like a small bar, a large stage, etc. It could have taken these things and built a legendary story out of it, but it didn't. Carole and Tuesday really was all fluff rather than substance, but a whole lot of fluff to make it enjoyable.
I would recommend Carole and Tuesday to anyone who has/had dreams of making it in the music industry. It follows a very linear path to stardom.

i partially don't even have the words, since i just finished it a couple of minutes ago.
the thing i love the most about this anime is it's realness, which is partially what the main story is about. to see the process of carole&tuesday actually writing these songs, especially during dancing laundry was so beautiful because it's so true to real life. nothing they ever made was perfect at first, but because they were so in sync they were able to make it happen. that's music.
some characters stayed static for longer than others, but before the end of the 24 episodes, you get to see more and more of them. some with tragic backstories, some that seem arrogant at surface level, some that try to hide from their talent. but all of their stories are so raw. despite this being an overal feel-good…

Well i was excited for it cuz it had such amazing visuals, and the past has generally shown that visually pleasing animes do turn out pretty good. Disappointment was what I found. Too many questions unanswered and way too many unnecessary questions. Characters were poorly written for the whole show i wasn't interested a bit in the main characters except for Angela she became extremely likable as story progressed, though her past is confusing and kinda cringe. But she was the best one. I didn't see any flaws that the main characters used to define themselves and if it weren't made clear I would have thought they were also AI. Carole's life was tried to be shown sympathetic but i didn't connect to it even though I understood it well. Tuesday's story was also something along those lines but a…

I enjoyed watching this anime. The music is fantastic, the story can be really good, and the art/animation is passable. But I'm still going to somewhat berate it because its just extremely disappointing. It's got all the ingredients to make a 10/10 show but it really falls flat on its face on some aspects.
First of all, the animation. Its pretty noticeable what they spent the most time animating, the performances. And what sucks is that it still doesn't look great. I'm not sure what it is about singing but it seems almost impossible to animate well. The attempt here was good, I would say objectively it is pretty good animation. It just doesn't look right. And because it would be insane to try and animate the songs in entirety there's very noticeable cuts to still frames of people in the a…

The premise of Carole and Tuesday is generally as follows - Earth has fallen to some unspecified disaster and Mars has been successfully colonised as the new home for humanity. The majority of people who left Earth generations prior go about their lives in a futuristic society that is tech-heavy and has grown so accustomed to artificial intelligence that AI are as commonplace as the smartphone is to today's world. Those who have only recently made the journey to Mars from Earth are defined as 'refugees' and 'immigrants' for their status, and some remain on Earth entirely. Music is, for the most part, crafted entirely by AI and performed by lucky artists who are rich enough to secure the tech to do this.
Which brings us neatly into Carole and Tuesday as characters. Carole is one such refug…

Needless to say, I feel this review is needed. Carole and Tuesday might seem to be like any other music anime, but I can assure you, it isn’t. I and probably others might have come across this through clips of Mermaid Sisters explicitly laced lyrics in ep 9 and would have thought this show was a joke. However, the story that was portrayed was real as ever. I admit the first 12 episodes may have been a hit or miss, but they really kick things into high gear for the last 12 episodes.
What really carried this show was the music. I watched the english dub and the singing voices went well with the spoken english voices. The songs matched with the story line, the characters development, and the overall concept of this anime. These songs were the reflection of who people are. It probably resona…
