First thing first, I like to say that this is one of the most unserious anime I ever watch, with the other one is Nichijou.
To be honest, this anime has a good quality for the animation and the characters, the animation is quite good also the characters is far more unique than I expected, but if you expect a great story about a girlband in the school, please, lower your expectations as much as possible, because this story is incredibly light—even suitable for kindergarteners to watch. It's basically about a school's band club where every day they just drinking tea, eating cake and much more weird activity to do, so, this is a slice-of-life series disguised as a story about school kids in a band. But are they're songs bad? The answer is no; in fact, the band's tracks are anime songs I lis…

K-On! is an anime about music, but at the same time it really isn't.
Anyone going into it expecting a serious story about a band working hard to improve their skills will probably be surprised. Most of the show is just the girls hanging out in the clubroom, drinking tea, eating cake, and enjoying each other's company. The music is there, but it takes a backseat to the slice-of-life elements.
What makes the anime work is its cast. The members of the Light Music Club are all fun to watch, and their chemistry carries the entire show. The comedy isn't laugh-out-loud funny, but it's charming and fits the laid-back tone of the series.
For a show that spends so little time focusing on music, the music itself is surprisingly good. The songs are catchy, the performances are enjoyable, and both t…

Suchhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh a good first season.
I've come to love K-on so much! It's interesting watching shows set in highschool because just like in real life it eventually comes to an enddd. I know the girls are seniors and then graduate in the next season and it feels very bittersweet, I hope the show comes back following azusa! I love her characther and I did hear she takes ritsus position when they graduate. Although, I would still want the girls to be in the new show (Either way I'll read the manga). I tried to think of who was my fav in the show and I do think its azusa because shes just more relatable as the youngest. Although, as I thought about it more I realized.. I'm also graduating and I really have more in common with the older girls…

This was a very cute show. This is a show where there is a character for everyone. They have so many different personalities, and they go great together. I feel like you could hate one character's personality and completely love another's. I also feel like they all kind of grow on you. For me, I found Yui so annoying at first and ended up really liking her by the end of the show. There's really no plot for this show, it is centered around character interactions. It's not a music show as much as it's a slice of life show, so if you came here for relating to musicians specifically, I wouldn't say... this is like... the first show that should be brought up? I think if you're into cute girls, wholesome family-like dynamics, lots of teasing and bantering, and mildly wlw undertones this is it. T…

My honest opinion on K-ON!:
I absolutely LOVE the show!
Yui Hirasawa is my spirit animal >v<
It was better than other anime in my favorites list, and also my favorite (alongside Futari wa Precure which is my fav magical girl anime).
Also I wish everyone will love this show for generations, as their music is peak.
Also I pray to the anime gods that a Sarah & Duck anime will be made by Kyoto Animation, so that would be a true banger to their lineup (as it would be adapted from the 2013 British cartoon, so KyoAni, take some notes and then give the BBC their permission first, or just ask Tim O'Sullivan).
The story was a well-followed adaptation of the original, as it was because of their chemistry, seen in the manga.
Yukiko Horiguchi's designs are way peaker than other artists' work, because…

Going into this anime I had high expectations because of how coveted and endeared this show is to many people and how it is a staple in many anime conversations. Now I finally have understood the hype behind this show. The plot of this show is very simple, but the biggest part is the characters and the relationships that make it stand out and drive the story. I really loved the cast: Mio, Ritsu, Mugi, Yui, Azusa, Sawako, Nodoka, Ui, and many more. I love how all the characters have their own mannerisms and personalities making them and their interaction throughout the cast feel real and not forced (especially the banter). I also love how there's character development in the characters and we explored their past. Though I would've liked to see other characters’ past to be explored since the…

TLDR; good background noise, distinct characters, realistic personalities, pioneer moeblobs.
I'm going to be completely honest, if you want anything remotely plot driven I'd stay far away from k-on or any other moeblobs. K-on excels at being something you put on in the background while doing homework and glance over to every once in a while to see something cute.
Though, unlike other moeblobs the characters actually feel like characters. I could describe a distinct character trait each of them have, and the show often plays into them instead of ignoring them, which moeblobs still don't often do. The character designs are also pretty good, even though basic, after 2 episodes of even passively listening you can easily tell them apart.
Plus the girls all feel like how actual people might…

K-On stands for 'keiongaku'. This translates to 'light music' which is a fitting name since the anime is relatively light on music. Instead the focus of the anime is on the members of the light music club drinking tea and doing cute things.
I was afraid that with the anime being in the cute girls doing cute things category there would not be a story and everything would feel meaningless but luckily this was not the case. It's not like there's a huge story but there's a large goal and a lot of smaller goals that run throughout the story can keep it watchable. There's a lot of gags, some of which were quite repetitive but it wasn't really bothersome.
The characters are not very deep but at least they are not completely one dimensional either; though some of the more complicated aspects fe…

There are shows that demand your attention, and there are shows that politely offer you a cup of tea, a slice of cake, and tell you to sit back and relax. K-On! is very much the latter—a pastel-colored blanket of an anime that understands exactly what it wants to be: cute girls doing cute things, occasionally remembering they’re supposed to play music.
The show opens on Yui Hirasawa, a girl so airheaded she could probably forget her own limbs if they weren’t attached. She stumbles across the Light Music Club, a club in danger of being disbanded because, shockingly, no one wants to do light music anymore. So, like every self-respecting anime heroine, she joins without knowing what she’s signing up for. Thus begins a thirteen-episode of sugar, sound, and absolutely unproductive club meeting…

It's great, the music is awesome, characters have amazing chemistry (sometimes it feels too perfect, even) and the visual quality stays consistent and where it drops, it's supported by it's writing.
The only thing that I personally have found needless is the fan-service. Most (myself included) would say it's rather tame when compared to other anime and is nowhere near as goonery, but it still feels shoehorned in.
The pacing feels just right and characters shine at their most naive and innocent, their collective 5 brain-cells dance in perfect harmony and then bam, fan-service. That's my only gripe with it because it's just needless and doesn't fit it at all.
Kinda left a bad aftertaste.

I had an absolute blast with K-ON! But, as much I would love to praise this as a band anime, it really just isn’t… the slice of life is amazing though. There are not many music performances or practice shown. But weirdly enough, that didn’t hurt the experience at all. What makes K-ON! shine as much as it does are its amazing characters and top-tier creative direction. Every character has charm, Mio’s shy reactions, Yui’s airheaded energy and a character that I found completely outstanding and an amazing feat in this series was Sawako, who’s layers were so great they made for such fun moments whenever she had the screen time. Visually, the beauty leans more on expression and direction than raw animation, but it works perfectly. This series is less about music and more about the fun experien…

I can't believe it took me this long to finally watch K-ON, I still gotta watch season 2 and the movie and whatever else but just this, just season 1 has already changed my life. I play guitar myself and I've been feeling real uninspired lately but after each episode I watched I just felt the need to get up and play, which is exactly what I did. I find it hard to choose a favorite character as well, I like Yui, but then Mugi is super cute, and then Azusa comes in and I just CANNOT pick a favorite. Each of the characters are unique and loveable in my opinion and I can't get enough of their silly antics, if you somehow were like me and haven't seen K-ON yet, trust me, it's popular for a reason. And even if you don't enjoy the story I bet at least one of the characters will stick with you, an…

As a music anime, K-On! delivers a super fun and enjoyable watching experience. It brings a laid-back and entertaining atmosphere, thanks to its simple yet charming story that’s easy for anyone to enjoy.
Yui Hirasawa, as the main character, leaves a lasting impression on the audience with her cheerful and energetic personality. Her playful nature adds so much charm to the series, making it even more delightful to watch.
The story focuses on the friendships formed within the Light Music Club, known as K-On!—featuring Yui, Mio, Ritsu, Mugi, and Azusa (Azunyan), with Sawako-sensei as their advisor. Their bond is incredibly strong and heartwarming. Even though each member has their own flaws, they support and complement each other, creating a sense of harmony and deep warmth throughout the s…

My favourite anime of all time, and it definitely is never changing, ever.
Of course, we all know Kyoto Animation is just spectacular with their work. To bring a simple 4koma to life and make it such a masterpiece, to me, is one of their greatest deeds.
I think the entire cast is honestly great, they all compliment each other well and have super cute interactions with each other, really nobody you can dislike.
The music, is, of course really good. It's a band anime, so of course.
Honestly, this anime 100% revolutionized band anime and is just so, SO amazing. The moe moments hit, the serious moments hit, the sad moments hit.
Thank you K-ON, thank you Ho-kago Tea Time and thank you KyoAni for this masterpiece.

K-on is a timeless charm that with always live on in my memory.
This anime is the perfect slice of life anime, and captures the genre perfectly and flawlessly. Everything about this anime is amazing from the characters relationships, interactions, and developments. They get along so well and it is a very wholesome experience to watch. There is nothing better in slice of life than seeing the characters getting around and getting up to interesting experiences in their day to day lives.
And the OST despite the fact that it is a music anime is flawless. The OP and outro are sure to get stuck in your head with the really nice animation that compliments the music aswell.
10/10 First season.

Alright, let’s chat about "K-On!". Seriously, if you haven’t checked it out yet, you’re missing out! Here’s why I think it’s totally worth your time. First off, the animation is just chef’s kiss. Kyoto Animation really nailed it with the colors and character designs. Everything looks so vibrant and cute, it’s like a visual candy shop! You’ll be glued to the screen just soaking in all that goodness. Now, let’s talk about the squad. The girls in the Ho-kago Tea Time are super relatable. You’ve got Yui, who’s adorably clumsy, and Mio, who’s all shy but has a fierce side. It’s like you’re hanging out with your own friends. Each one has their own vibe, and you can’t help but love them all. You might even see a bit of yourself in one of them! If you’re looking for something to kick back with aft…

The story is very well written, its about a group of high school girls who come together to form a band. It shows you the ups and downs and highs and lows of music and friendship. The trope is absolutely heartwarming and I enjoyed every second of it. This anime has a special place in my heart because its the first thing I had ever watched with my girlfriend. Its a bit predictable but that is a feature of it that is very heartwarming and comforting, its all part of its appeal.
The art style is so cute and adorable, The colours are so bright and cheery but all go with each other and they don't strain your eyes. They match the complexion of the actual anime itself. Each character design is unique and they all have their own style and colours. They each show so much personality though their ch…

Brief overview: It's cute girls doing cute things.
This review will be based on the whole series including the movie.
8/10 for the whole series
Introduction
Yui Hirasawa has just started her High school life shortly after graduating from middle school. Upon arrival, she met all types of clubs and activities that the school had provided many of which were interested in recruiting her. However, a mysterious club named K-ON is on a urgent need of new members as they only have 2 so far. This club is a band club that is mostly focusing on performing musical instruments such as Piano, Guitar, and Drums. If they do not have at least four members the club's future may cease to exist. Therefore, Yui Hirasawa with no musical experience decided to join this club and help this club out.

K-On's first season is a straight forward anime that is pretty much the epitome of the CGDCT genre of anime, as far as I can remember a lot of the stuff is usually just the girls just hanging out and the music stuff becomes secondary. Even with that, it is surprisingly very enjoyable since the interactions come with a lot of entertainment from the slight exaggerations and all.
The first season of K-On really doesn't give a lot apart from the conflicts that were resolved minutes later but with that the 2nd season gives more of everything, from plot progression, interactions, adventures, music, and all the way to underlining dread of the inevitable, but for now the 1st season is fairly light and nothing too serious.
The characters despite having more or less the same face shapes (Ritsu wit…

I loved this anime. But my reasons for it may be a little unusual. Let me tell you why. This review will encompass both seasons, because it kind of needs to, but I will avoid spoilers.
K-on is a story of four or five girls who form a light music club and spend their time messing around, eating cake and drinking tea, and sometimes, as an afterthought, playing music. That's the whole plot. There's nothing else.
... is what I'd like to say, but that's a gross oversimplification. It's so much more than that.
This anime starts a little slow. The first season really is nothing but that. Girls starting a light music club, messing around, getting into hijinks, learning about each other, making friends (and sometimes even playing music)... and then in the second season, it just kind of takes off…
