Lucky Star is one of those classic weeb anime that everyone knows, but almost nobody watches today, so I finally decided to give it a try. Now let's talk about it.
With a great cast of characters, charming moe aesthetics, and good comedic timing, Lucky Star is a fun experience. It has some boring episodes along the way, but they don't hurt the overall experience that much.
Konata is the star of the show. Her interactions with the rest of the cast are absolutely hilarious, especially with Kagami, and they're the best part of the show, along with Lucky Channel and its chaotic energy.
That said, Lucky Star has a problem with reference dumping. I caught some of the references, but others went completely over my head, and some characters are really underused.
In general, it's a must-watch b…

Lucky Star is incredibly charming and funny despite it's simple premise. If you wanna watch something exciting or with a lot of substance, keep looking; but if you're multitasking, in a bad mood, or just looking to unwind after a long day, this show is an easy recommendation.
Lucky Star has a very episodic structure and usually consist of three or four different segments wrapped into a single episode. This makes the show very easy to follow, you can throw on a random episode while doing something else and be able to follow the story just fine.
As a filthy foreigner, I can't attest to its accuracy in portraying Japanese school life, but I can absolutely say that the characters are extremely well written and realistic. I definitely knew people like Kagami and Miyuki when I was in high sch…

One of the criticisms I never really got about the Monogatari series is that "they talk too much". Maybe partly because I was entertained by the characters and their banter, maybe because it still felt like it was going Somewhere, I never really had an issue with how much dialogue there was in the show. After all, surely they wouldn't make a show that was JUST inane banter-
Oh.
Oh dear.
Lucky Star manages to combine two of the things I like least in this world in my anime (thank God it didn't set it in a fantasy world/isekai): moeshit and blatant pandering.
And, I expected to kind of not fuck with the moeshit, the pandering I was a little shocked by how hard it turned me off but what really surprised me is how it feels like absolutely nothing of value happens in any episode.
They occa…

Amazing anme, basically the same as azumanga diaoh and I loved it, i loved the outro of sharishi singing and the otaku, in my opinion azumanga is better but this is a really good comparison, it was funny and I loved konatas dad, weird guy disguised by comedy but once again I like this anime its funny and good highschool focused anime, I didn't really like the fact that they didn't perform in the end but its fine, felt like a filler anime of sorts, don't have it but it had some type of plot which I why it got a ten.

This the first anime I knew of. I saw it as music videos and memes, and I didn't know what it was. I just knew that it blew my mind, and I wanted more of it in my life. Now more than a decade later, I love many Kyoto Ani shows and slice of life stories, and I love this art style. It had a great impact on me and my involvement with art and anime, inspiring me to begin watching many anime shows, music videos, as well as analysis and history videos. I went to many anime conventions, because it was an aspiration of mine since watching this show, where I learnt a bit about anime culture. However, I like realistic and relatable stories. I've never related to these characters, except for my struggles with school work. I even know many of the anime references the show has, but I can't bring myself…

Lucky Star is iconic. It has been a part anime and meme culture for nearly 2 decades now. It pretty much defined Moe as a term and the slice of life genre. In the Cute girls doing cute things genre there is no going around Lucky Star. The question however how fun is it to actually watch? After two decades and several rewatches I came to the conclusion that it's quite mixed.
The whole thing starts absolutely terrible. Every rewatch I always skip the first three episodes as they are completely unfunny and nothing happens. 4 girls just talk about the most random of things. It's not relatable, it's not funny, it's not cute, it's absolutely terrible. The thing is that the first four episodes were actually directed by Yutaka Yamamoto, which was then fired for these awful episodes and replaced…

Lucky Star is an art. And has a shit ton of japanese references that I found hilarious. I feel like if you're not into japanese culture as a whole, you'll miss a lot of the joy of watching. You choose to watch lucky star for enjoying one of the "truest forms" of slice of life and that's it. Nothing else. Will have to say, Pls watch Haruhi before this, the amount of references always has me dying.
Lucky star haters that I've been reading about seem watch this for the sake of watching, like trying to check off a watch list to say that's you've seen it. But if you watch for the sake of art and have a good knowledge of japanese cultures, it really is entertaining af.
Sad this series ended, but definitely will remain as one of my favorites. Gotta hand it to ep 22 tho (if you know you know)

How does art age?
There's a joke in Lucky☆Star where the four main characters fill out a questionnaire that asks them what they want to be when they grow up. Konata, the otaku, puts down "Brigade Leader," which draws as punchline an eyeroll from her sarcastic friend, Kagami.
The core of this joke is that Konata has taken a serious question and answered it with a fictional "occupation" from an anime she likes -- specifically, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, which was monstrously popular at the time. Almost everyone watching Lucky☆Star in 2007, when it first aired, would understand this reference. That understanding would then foster a sense of kinship with the work, the feeling of "being seen," the long yearned-for ideal of niche nerd subcultures laughed at by society at large.

Lucky Star is one of the greatest, most uplifting anime of all time.
You watch the main cast do nothing. Seriously. Nothing of importance happens the entire show, but that's the point. It's a slice of life cute girls doing cute things show, and it delivers heavy.
References? You got it. Features Haruhi Suzumiya and Hatsune Miku at different points.
Fantastic opening sequence? Absolutely.
Did I get all the jokes on my first watch-through years ago, when I'd only watched a handful of anime? Absolutely not. This show has references to other media every so often, and many times, the references don't hit if you don't understand. However, even if you don't get the references, it's still a great watch.
I've heard folks call Lucky Star the Seinfeld of anime, and I won't deny the comparison is…

In the hateful and evil world of 2025, let a man enjoy wholesome anime girls.
- Great opening song, but I find it funny how dramatic it is when the show is a slice of life.
- Love the voice acting (I watched english dub) however some characters were awful like Patty or Minami. It even seemed they used male VA's on background girl characters? which made no sense. Either way the main girls, especially Izumi, Kagami, and Yutaka sound great and more than make up for it. It feels like they're just having a chat rather than reading off a script, which is the best way to describe it. The voice acting by the main girls really makes the show, it adds a sense of relatability/realness.
- I love Akira Kogami and the Lucky Channel segments. (end segments)
- Clearly a very dated show. Some of th…

I am recommending it as a quintessential paradigm of the genre- slice of life. If one were, for some strange reason, to go to a high school cafeteria and tape-record the conversations taking place and turn it into an anime, this is it.
I remember being a kid and recognizing for the first time that the table in the cafeteria that I would most fit in with are those playing magic cards and discussing N64. This anime can sometimes be touching. It shows how your friends are who they are no matter any differences in tastes and personality traits. It displays the loneliness of not having friends and what it feels like to have your friends placed in a different class. It also shows what it feels like when high school is about to end.
Though, it’s like living in New York and watching Seinfeld.…

Oh boy, Lucky Star. It's an interesting show, to say the least. The best way to describe it would be... weebish, I suppose.
Unlike many SoL anime, there is almost zero conflict in the main story. It is literally just about a group of HS girls and their daily life, but not in an AzuDaioh or Nichijou fashion. It's closer to something like Noko-tan from 2024.
Alright, enough boring things. Lucky Star is honestly one hell of a watch. The humour is actually pretty good (very subjective tho), and the characters are fun and relatable. KyoAni did an amazing job with the art. Yeah, the style may not be everyone's fancy, but it is undeniably high quality. The OP is damn near peak, even though it's literally just them praising their uniforms.
Please watch the first 3 episodes before deciding to dr…

It’s a shame really because this had all the potential of a great anime and yet it stumbles out of the starting gate. There are some good gags and the characters are really likable. But this show’s undoing is the same as what undoes Nichijou 4 years later; it can’t be bothered to give us a proper introduction to the main cast of characters and then just throws random nonsense about (like the recurring Lucky Channel or ED bits) and expects them to be funny. Like with Nichijou, you could probably get at least 12 really good episodes out of this, provided some deft editing and rewrites were ordered.

Very cute and somewhat funny. Nothing more to really say, if you like these silly slice of life type animes and don't mind the weird humor of Konata and her dad then you'll really enjoy this. everyone there has lots of great personalities and they're all cute (except Konata's dad). Some may not like the humor too much, main problem for people is some of the pervy humor, but it has alot more to the show than that, the majority is cute, relatable and relaxing. also Nanako Tsukasa is the best girls because I really relate to them alot.
Konata's dad gotta go to jail tho

Lucky Star is a sitcom packaged into an anime with high school girls, on the surface it does look too cutesy but as time goes on it did get endearing and flows well with what the anime is trying to show.
The writing is pretty good, the interactions between characters are very amusing to follow and listen to. The characters in the show starts off small, but it gradually grows as episodes goes on and it does improve the show. The plot of the anime is more or less day-to-day stuff, where after certain scenes of mundane stuff, it skips time to other mundane stuff that is happening on the show in a relaxed and calm manner.
The characters in the show are all fun even the ones that are bordering criminal (Konata's dad) with having plenty of personality and energy even from the ones that are sh…

Only the mountains can tell you how much I love LUCKY STAR
this is a magnificent work, which is a real masterpiece in the genre of comedy anime. This series has a unique charm and laid-back style that radially distinguishes it from other anime comedies.
Firstly, the plot of Lucky Star focuses on the daily life of a group of high school students, which makes it accessible and understandable to a wide range of viewers. The main characters, each with their own unique personality, add variety and dynamics to the series. Konata is a super fanatic of video games and anime, who makes many references to pop culture, Tsukasa is a sweet and naive girl, her twin sister Kagami is fast-paced and responsible, and Miyuki is a beautiful, but a little absent-minded, knowledgeable girl.
But what really m…

I've always hated slice-of-life anime but for some reason this one really stuck with me. I somehow found myself actually interested in the exceedingly ordinary dialouge and events of the show. Pretty much every character is a cliche, and if you were trying, you could probably predict what each character is going to do in any giving situation. However I found myself really enjoying the show, looking foward to watching it at the end of every day.
Sure, you can tell they didnt cut corners for animation and maybe thats why I felt it was such a cool experaice, but thats just a guess. I have no real idea as to why I like this show so much; So give it a shot, you might like it too.
Plus I actually really enjoyed the dub, which is rare for older anime.

At first the show is kind a bit bland. I almost dropped it. But then once you get into it it becomes incredibly funny. New characters get introduced and create a dynamic little world of social dynamics and you get to see how each character with each of their many interests interact with other characters with the same interests and you really start to enjoy the little inside jokes the world creates. It's too sad a season 2 was never made because I really think they got the formula down and could have made a great second season. But oh well, loved it and recommend it to people so long as they can get past the boring beginning.

I'm a late bloomer-- well, a VERY late bloomer to Lucky Star, but I feel like that means I can at least offer a perspective from the eyes of someone who doesn't have any nostalgic memories or value towards it. And you know what, despite that? I still thought Lucky Star was a fantastic experience that surpassed my expectations. There has been many a "Slice of Life" anime out there since this show first aired in 2007, but it seemingly feels like Kyoto Animation nailed giving me everything I wanted out of this genre from the get-go. I shouldn't be too surprised as some of their most beloved works of all time consist of Slice of Life anime such as Nichijou and Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, but Lucky Star is undoubtedly a progenitor and should serve as a blueprint for what other SoL should follow.…

Lucky Star has lots of game/anime/manga/japanese culture references and sometimes it's funny.
But should you watch the show because of that? Not really.
The main goal of Lucky Star is to make you say "Bro, I feel that". The characters' dialogues are so realistically casual that you get the feeling you've been in those situations before, even if you never have. The characters, timeless art style, goofy background music and the overall feeling of coziness do magic and make it one of the most unique slice of life anime shows. And should I even mention that Konata is the most accurate representation of gamers and anime fans out there?
I first watched it in 2008. 10 years later I decided to revisit it with a more critical mind. I thought maybe it wouldn't be as good as I remembered it to be.…
