Daily Lives of High School Boys

Daily Lives of High School Boys

Introduction

Roaming the halls of the all-boys Sanada North High School are three close comrades: the eccentric ringleader with a hyperactive imagination Hidenori, the passionate Yoshitake, and the rational and prudent Tadakuni. Their lives are filled with giant robots, true love, and intense drama... in their colorful imaginations, at least. In reality, they are just an everyday trio of ordinary guys trying to pass the time, but who said everyday life couldn't be interesting? Whether it's an intricate RPG reenactment or an unexpected romantic encounter on the riverbank at sunset, Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou is rife with bizarre yet hilariously relatable situations that are anything but mundane. I remember really hating this series because they kept dragging the unfunny rpg game mechanic jokes. This series has this misogynistic overlining to it that you can't ignore maybe that's why Joey "The anime man" likes this. Some jokes are actually really funny but other times it gets too exhausting when they are showing so many different characters and not committing to one single joke that it makes you lose interest altogether. I kind of understand that this kind of humour would work really well if you are Japanese or happen to be a nerd who have consumed a lot of Japanese media but if you are going expecting a Saiki K or Grand Blue dreaming you will be disappointed past the first episode. These kind of series have this tendency to make fun of the obvious anime or manga tropes and it work…

ONE OF THE GREATEST ANIME , IM TIRED OF LOVE OR ROMANTIC BULLSIT AND THEN WATCHED THIS. It was so good as slice of life, comedy, a friend group , literally one of the best comedy anime. (filler review) Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou (Daily Lives of High School Boys) is proof that you don’t need some complicated plot to make an anime unforgettable. It’s literally just a bunch of high school idiots doing the most random, unnecessary, and hilarious things imaginable — and somehow that’s exactly what makes it so good. 😂The comedy feels natural, the characters are ridiculously relatable, and the chemistry between Tadakuni, Hidenori, and Yoshitake is absolute gold. There are moments where absolutely nothing is happening, yet you’re still laughing like crazy.

This anime is hilarious! It reminded me of the best moments of messing around with friends back in school. The characters are super charismatic, it’s impossible not to get attached to them. The main characters especially are a highlight—I laughed a lot with them. A fun experience full of nostalgia. The vibe is really harmonious and light, everything flows naturally, like those carefree days spent with friends. The humor is the main standout: it hooks you and also feels comforting at the same time. Even the girls’ group segments at the end of each episode help maintain that warm, everyday-life atmosphere. The color palette may seem simple at first, but that’s exactly what makes it so memorable and what reinforces the soft, welcoming mood of the show. In the end, it’s basically a must-wa…

This is one of my favorite anime. Ridiculously funny, lovable characters and very creative scenarios made to enhance the laughs, and of course some heartwarming moments as well. Tadakuni walking with a girl was the first scene that got me into the series and it remains my favorite. I'll always have a sweet spot for this show. I watched it with my older brother and we talked about it often. Just a great anime and I would greatly recommend it. I don't mind Tadakuni being the straight man and butt of certain jokes, but man, it sucks when he's gone for too long on the grounds he's too normal, like that's the point you can make it work though of course I get focusing on expanding the scope of the show and showing other guys. Yoshitake and Tabata are funny as hell. My friend and I were recen…

Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou takes a simple idea—high school boys just living their daily lives—and turns it into pure comedy gold. Story & Structure There’s no traditional, continuous storyline here. Instead, the anime is built around short comedy skits, each one focusing on things like: - Overactive teenage imaginations - Awkward social moments - Dumb arguments that feel way more serious than they should - Everyday situations blown completely out of proportion That’s where the charm lies: it makes the most normal moments feel ridiculously funny. Characters The cast is simple but incredibly effective: - Tadakuni: The calm, rational guy who often ends up dealing with everyone else’s nonsense - Hidenori: Loud, dramatic, and always lost in his own world - Yoshitake: The king of exagger…

I came to this anime on the premise that it was "Azumanga Daioh but with boys" and unfortunately it let me down quite a bit in that regard. Daily Lives of High School boys is much more of a sketch comedy show than anything else and while its best moments lean into the mundane silly thoughts that boys have, it frequently is an absurdist sketch comedy show that just happens to star a cast of boys. That said, when its funny it is quite funny. Unfortunately the cast of characters is pretty weak because they need to be flexible to fill the roles the jokes require. Tadakuni is the straight man character and the show doesn't even keep him around for a chunk of episodes because it just gets sillier and sillier as it goes on. I do think the show is good but the slive-of-life side of it is weirdl…

Daily Life of Highschool Boys is honestly the best slice-of-life comedy I’ve seen. Its absurd humor turns simple things like talking, walking, or messing around with friends into completely random moments that catch you off guard and genuinely make you smile. What I loved most is how incredibly overstimulating it is, but in the best way. It never gives you a second to get bored—every scene hits you with a new absurdity, an unexpected joke, or some ridiculous exaggeration that keeps you hooked the whole episode. The only tricky part might be a few very Japanese jokes you don’t fully get, but they don’t ruin anything at all.”

Maybe expecting this to be anything even similar to Nichijou was a big mistake, but I had hoped this anime would be something similar to it. Still, I think there's a lot of appeal in just reliving the high school days and the unique experiences it allowed us to have with friends. And I got none of that with this anime. For a final comparison to Nichijou, despite it being insanely more whacky and outlandish, I found it way more relatable than this anime. Daily Life of High School Boys is really frustrating because it continues to be on the cusp of something fun and relatable. But my hopes really started to die away by the first episode. I thought it was charming that the characters would just decide to randomly pretend they were in an RPG regardless of how dumb they looked, and I think th…

OH. MY. GOSH. I just finished Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou in three days, and I'm still reeling from the laughter coma. I've seen some wild anime in my time, but this one? It's the real MVP. I'm talking laugh-so-hard-you-snort-your-coffee-out-your-nose, cry-tears-of-joy, and clutch-your-belly-in-agony laughter. The characters? FORGET ABOUT IT. They're all so ridiculously lovable! Tadakuni's straight-man reactions, Yoshitake's... well, Yoshitake's existence, and Hidenori's non-stop shenanigans? I'm dead. I mean, who wouldn't want to hang out with these goofballs? And can we talk about how relatable it all is? I mean, who hasn't had those ridiculous conversations or gotten themselves into some absurd mess? It's like the creators bottled up all the best (worst?) parts of high school and tur…

This is gonna be a short review since reviewing is not exactly my strong point, but I love this anime, so I'll at least try! This is a show with a practically non-existent story, instead it's basically pure comedy, and that was originally the reason why I stopped watching it after watching it for 5 minutes a year ago lmao, but I gave it another chance recently since when I first watched it I just wasn't in the mood for this type of anime, and God!, I love this shit. It's a brilliant mix of amazing comedy and relatability. IMO, the comedy is best in the first two episodes, those being the ones where I laughed a ton, but after that it calms down a bit, at least in my opinion; the comedy doesn't exactly get bad per se, but instead it's just not AS funny. I laughed a lot throughout the entire…

I watched all of it over about a week in 2024. The animation is pretty good, opening song is ok and the ending theme can easily get stuck in your head and make your day a bit brighter. The voice acting was very good. Each episode is subdivided into multiple segments that may or may not be related to each other. Some are recurring throughout the series, like ones that take place on a grassy area near a river. It's almost like sketch comedy, with some recurring sketches. Like anything, some sketches are better than others, but on the whole I found most to be very funny. There's usually a segment at the end with high school girls (instead of the boys) which is pretty good as well. Those got better as the season went on. The characters themselves and the interplay between them was well done…

I have to thank Mother's Basement's video on The Other Side of Shounen for reminding me and encouraging me to watch this. Just like in Grand Blue, it seems like the funniest jokes are in the first few episodes, not that I think its on purpose, but it does feel deflating. As a gag anime, I feel like its destined to be hit or miss on the jokes, but was good overall. Compared to other comedy anime I've seen its interesting how this isn't trying to be too surreal or cartoony with its jokes, but more about exaggerated awkward situations or games high school boys would actually do and that the characters have changes in their personalities and don't always act the same way. You could really call this a time capsule of 2008 with the flip phones and liberal use of the r-slur thats starting to com…

tl;dr: A comedy anime purely about high school boys messing around. This is a series of comedic shorts primarily about a group of boys attending an all boys high school. It's very heavily comedy focused without anything else to it at all. There's no plot at all, not even minor plot threads. There's no character or relationship development, though there is a character who clearly has a crush that shows up from time to time. There's no overarching themes or morals or anything like that. It's purely just a series of gags. The gags are pretty interesting too in that they're basically just high school boys screwing around in an exaggerated fashion. High school comedy certainly isn't rare when it comes to anime, but this was pretty unique. I wouldn't exactly say it's more realistic but it has…

As at the time of writing this review, the year 2023 is nearing its end; we the males of the species are slowly dying out and so is the overall population of the world. The world government has then issued that all copulation activities be stopped, men stop being men, women stop being women, so as to harvest our future offspring, send them to space in hopes of finding a better future that could sustain mankind without overfeeding the poor and underpaying the rich.🗿 Is this the type of nonsensical comedy with overexaggerated themes, settings and experiences you've been encountering in anime. And does it piss you off that, the writing is almost always incoherent and yet is able to make you smile with confusion, Well look no further because 'Daily Life of High School Boys' isn't that kind o…

It’s just guys being guys. Dudes being dudes ya know? Just Bros being bros. Just homies being gay- wait wat. Dude this show is great. It totally understands what it is to be with the boys. No romance, no drama, no bullshit. Just guys hanging out doing stupid shit. I mean clearly this show was just made by a group of friends. I love that and you really don’t see it that often. I also really like it when there are women involved. They guys are just like ‘*gasp* dat- dat a woman! Wat- what do I do? Do I look cool? Shit, alright just calm down and say something smooth. Be cool’ before saying some dumb shit and the girl is just like ‘what the fuck is wrong with this guy’. It’s so true it hurts. And it makes sense because they go to an all-boys school. I love how the show depicts girls to be jus…

My introduction to this was once seeing clips of this on YouTube a long time ago. It involved clips of Yassan by the river. It seemed so full of potential based on these clips. A lot of my favorite anime are comedic slice of life manga adaptations like this one. The title encapsulates exactly the kind of thing I want out of an anime. The comedic in the mundane. Finally getting around to the show it had a promising start. This seems like a nitpick but the outro really vibed me out a lot. It got to a point where I would stop the episode at the outro, forgetting there are skits after it. In the middle of this series it just seemed like the vignettes all centered around bullying different characters. It wasn't entertaining to watch. It wasn't funny to me. That's most of the negatives. I like…

Part 1 English Part 2 Bahasa Indonesia -------------------------------------- Ladies and gentlemen, brace yourselves for a review of Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou that will have you laughing, crying, and wondering why the heck you haven't watched this anime yet. First off, the story. It's like a rollercoaster ride through the awkwardness of high school life, with unexpected twists and turns that will leave you gasping for air. It's funny, it's relatable, and it's everything you want in a slice-of-life anime. Now let's talk about the art style. It's like a kaleidoscope of colors and shapes that come together to create a visually stunning experience. It's like watching a Picasso painting come to life, but with more anime girls and fewer melting clocks. And oh, the characters. They're a b…

Wow, while I do not go to school in Japan I relate to some extent to this anime. Most relatable anime aside from Nichijou. Maybe that's what SoL anime are supposed to do huh? I really liked Daily lives of High School Boys. It had the same effect where everyday occurrences are portrayed as quite the spectacle. I might compare to Nichijou a lot but that's only because it is the closest to this. Story: The story is basically a bunch of skits loosely fit together. Kind of like slap-stick comedy. Across episodes, we might have similar stories continuing but apart from that it is just a lot of comedy sketches glued together. It also takes the Gintama way in that it is very self-observant. It refers to using the same jokes multiple times, the director, etc. All in all, while there might not be a…

Story: The show doesn't really have a story, which is ok for an episodic comedy anime, if you manage to make the episodes funny, which this anime didn't really do. A lot of the skits just felt boring and repetitive, with a couple of exceptions. If you're into multiple really short skits than this is the anime for you. Characters: The main characters felt bland, lacking in personality, which definitely doesn't help the viewer in getting invested in wathever is happening. The side characters were the saving grace of the show: they had some funny recurring jokes like literature girl, and were probably the only reason why i kept watching. Art: There's not a lot to say about the art, it's fine, not amazing but also definitely not bad. Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou is not a notable show, it trie…

I watched the first episode of this show like 10 years ago at a friend's house and laughed super hard so I downloaded the entire season myself and tried to watch it. Thing is, the jokes get really stale for the next few episodes and the misogyny in the way the female characters are written and voiced is just incredibly overbearing. So much so that, for the next 10 years, I would try on multiple occasions to watch this show in its entirety and never get past episode 5 before putting it down. Today I decided "why not" so I went ahead and watched all 12 episodes through pure force of will. I remembered the first episode gave me like 70% of all my laughs, then the long slog through to episode 6, then 30% of the laughs were scattered from episodes 7 to 12. Thing is, because this series is b…
