I can't tell how cringe and brainrot this show is.
In the entire show, there isn't a single joke that is actually laughable. In the name of comedy, characters just keep doing stupid stuff, and you're somehow supposed to laugh at it. Some people even call this kind of trash a high IQ show in their language.
The whole premise is basically a rich, normal guy who ends up living under a bridge with a bunch of complete lunatics. Sounds like it could be funny, but the problem is that almost every character is designed to be as weird as possible rather than actually being entertaining.
We have a stupid bitch as the MFC who is literally yapping and doing things that make absolutely no sense, but you are supposed to laugh at it because apparently it's comedy.
And then we have the main leader, wh…

The story introduces us to Kou Ichinomiya, a college student and the heir to an enormous fortune. Despite already being wealthy, he lives by his family's motto: "Never owe anyone anything." Determined to stand on his own, he supports himself independently. But one day, he unexpectedly finds himself indebted to a charming young woman named Nino. The catch is that Nino is... well, far from ordinary. As repayment, she asks him to stay with her forever. With little choice, he agrees—only to discover that she lives under a bridge, surrounded by an unforgettable cast of eccentric neighbors.
From the very first minutes, it's clear that this is a series overflowing with positivity. Overall, it's vibrant, warm, hilarious, and effortlessly enjoyable to watch. The soundtrack is perfectly chosen, ble…

At first, I didn’t expect much from this anime. In fact, I didn’t know what to anticipate beyond a vague memory that it would involve some comedy and romance—something I barely recalled when I added it to my playlist years ago.
If you enjoy works like Daily Lives of High School Boys or Beelzebub, this anime is definitely for you. These titles share the same bold and exaggerated humor that defined much of the 2000s and 2010s. But beyond delivering a highly entertaining comedy, the show also introduces a subdued yet captivating romance between the main characters.
What truly stands out, however, is how the anime portrays the lives of those living under the Arakawa Bridge. At first glance, these characters seem like absurdly over-the-top caricatures created purely to fuel the show’s humor.…

Quite possibly one of my new favorites and I think it’s a shame I’ve never heard of it until now. If I had seen it back when it first came out, I can definitely picture this having a major impact on my formative years. It’s funny, nostalgic, and, occasionally, slightly sad.
The comedy is zany and at times, painfully Japanese, but that gives it a lot of rewatch value for me. The jokes are nonstop, so there’s no way I can possibly remember all of them, so rewatching is a treat. It’s a chill anime with fun antics and the occasional laugh out loud joke. I do feel it has a lot of heart and some semblance of a moral or message, but don’t expect tons of character development or for the moral of the story to be in your face. The main focus is comedy and silly character interactions, and changing…

Right of the bat, I will say that the story is weird and I don't mean in a bad way. Weird in a sense that, it follows no cliche story telling that the viewers are usually presented. This anime offers a pure comedy, light romance and slice-of-life experience to the viewers. In addition, this Anime doesn't have a plot as it shows the everyday lives of the people that lives under the Arakawa bridge. As for the characters, each of them offers a unique comedic way that induce the viewers from the day to day interaction within each episodes. Overall, Arakawa Under the Bridge is a Great Comedy anime as it offers a different way of inducing Comedy to it's viewers. If you are someone who's looking for a change of pace this would be a great will be a great watch for you.

A masterpiece of randomness.
Arakawa Under the Bridge is hard to grasp at first. The storytelling and the plot are quite original. But looking past them, or rather learning to enjoy them, Arakawa quickly becomes one of these feel good comforting shows.
The strength of the anime is in its characters. A bunch of society rejects living under a bridge with top tier voice acting. Each character is unique, unpredictable, well written and inevitably hilarious. Each one has unique quirks, an interesting past and is completely detached to anything with a sense of logic. The voice actors help a lot with a few coming from Gintama.
The result is an absolutely non-sense but hilarious show. We see these characters' madness through the MC's eye, Rec. A rational and logical corporate genius whose mott…

Well, well, well, what do we have here? It's Arakawa Under the Bridge, an anime that's so weird, it makes my collection of Hawaiian shirts look normal.
The premise is simple - a rich guy named Ko Ichinomiya falls into a river and is rescued by a homeless girl named Nino. He ends up owing her a debt and moves into a community of eccentric and bizarre characters who live under a bridge.
Now, if you're looking for an anime that's grounded in reality, you've come to the wrong place. This anime is like a Salvador Dali painting come to life. The characters are all strange and quirky, and the humor is often absurdist and surreal.
But let's be real here, the humor isn't for everyone. Some might find it too strange o…

Did you watch the monogatari series and think 'damn, I really want to watch something just like that!' and then you go about your life for years on end, always reminiscing about that series thinking 'damn, there is just nothing quite like it.'
Well, Arakawa is here to indulge us monogatari fans. With a lot of shared art, sound, music, and va, it is the perfect continuation. This show is so reminiscent of monogatari it even has mundane repetitive elevator music in the background of all the dialoge with the characteristic monogatari head turn around look and the same outrageous character reactions and disagreements. You could even imagine that they are in the same universe, just in different parts of it with how similar things are. There is a reason Ko is called 'the arakawa araragi'.

- P-Ko, Episode 7
Arakawa Under the Bridge is a fun series that demonstrates how well absurdist comedy can challenge societal norms. The premise of throwing a (seemingly) normal man into the bizarre group of people living under a bridge immediately sets up the series comedic style but also establishes an intriguing philosophical debate about what it means to have a strong sense of self. Using Arakawa as a point of familiarity and normality really works well with the comedic style of this series and is utilised by the animators; with the use of reactions and responses made by background characters.
Arakawa Under the Bridge’s premise sets up a couple of interesting dichotomies that play wel…

I'll get right into it: I think this is the most underrated anime there is. There are a thousand anime out there that are enjoyable in one way or another, but the highest tier of anime (and art broadly), in my mind, combine that enjoyment with a commentary on real life social topics. Arakawa takes the alienation in modern life and translates that into an appropriately strange comedy, flipping the switch on what's rational and irrational in the modern world. In doing so, it invites us - particularly through its comedy - to consider our own motivations and routines.
Arakawa Under the Bridge follows the main character Rec who starts out as a model of corporate self-reliance; he's dressed like a salaryman and follows a personal credo (inherited from his rich businessman father) that he'll nev…

stupidly charming.
thats what this show is to me. it's a dumb hilarious romcom but its so very charming. i highly recommend this if you're looking for something silly and light hearted. there's only 13 eps but i find myself finishing the show in one month. not because it was boring, but because i didn't want it to end.
story 8/10: unexpectedly, the story was actually pretty good. it had an actual plot and there were little morals/lessons that was slipped in and actually made sense. not just there to be cheesy or to make the show look good, but it was just little lessons. i haven't ever even thought about some of them and its so surprising to me that some of them actually stuck with me a lot.
characters 8/10: honestly dont know what to expect for comedy characters but they were pretty…

My god do I not love this show. I originally watched both season 1 and season 2 when they were airing and to be honest I was having fun, but I was also f*cking confused about what was going in the show. Arakawa is funny, the characters and plots are great, the opening is addictive, but I thought it aligned more to Biyori and its only purpose was to be funny (which it did a great job at), buy oh boy I was so wrong.
Now I re-watched it in entirety I understood what a underrated show it is and what it is trying to say. All the ridiculousness tells some deep philosophies about the society, but it is done so well that these philosophical messages will just slip away if you don't want to interpret the messages and wouldn't hinder you from enjoying the funniness of the show at all.
Now I just wis…

Animation and quality are 10,nothing to complain.
All i can say is its a must watch. Not only does it have romance and comedy but also its gives you a new perspective on life.It shows what really matter and that just because someone is different doesnt mean they are bad in fact it might be the opposite.Watch it and you will not regret it

it's been a while since I truly laugh from a gag-anime.
it's a real classic boke-tsukomi stuff but i think it's a bit underrated.
long story short:
it about a bunch of weirdos living under the bridge
at the pov of the MC, the cast is just a bunch of people with mental issues, but in pov of viewers, there's a chance that the fantasy aspect might be real. I think this is one of the charm of arakawa under the bridge, it never told what is real.
and another big charm from this series is there's always a little depth and meaning from their comedy, a little life lesson and message are slipped inside the scene. lots of gag-anime are creating dumb scene just for the sake of being funny.
the animation and sound is fine enough, it's not the mighty quality since it's just a mere slice-of-life come…

Arakawa Under the Bridge Review Part 1
[STORY ELEMENT PRESENTATION 7/10] [GOOD FOR A ROM COM]
Arakawa Under the Bridge from the title itself is the main setting of the story, almost all major chain of events and interactions take place here. A strange setting to circle a romance comedy. The joke has somewhat a modern take in the presentation, for it uses a combination of interchanging camera angle views, a wholesome amount of different color pallets to intensify emotional symbolism, and continued with a constant stream of jokes that built upon a major punch line. Put all this recipe together, you would have a very charming and engaging style of comedy from start to finish.
For the most part, the comedy itself is more of a satire commentary on criticizing societal norms, it ranges from s…

I watched this series before moving to Japan, and actually ended up living near the Arakawa River so the setting now has a familiar feel for me.
This is a random humour anime with a bare bones story. The humour is very hit and miss. Sometimes I'd be cracking up, sometimes I'd just be sitting with a blank look or sighing. Humour being a bit subjective it's hard to judge this one.
The setting is great, and the basic story premise is pretty creative. But there's not much one can do with the story premise and so it digresses into random humour based on the characters. For me some of the characters are great, others less so...which may in part be a culture thing.
I will say that the main protagonists are likeable and their interactions are one of the plus points to the series. It's defini…

I have to admit, watching Arakawa Under the Bridge was a wild ride. The characters all come off as really unique, each of them are remarkably different and have their own weird quirks.
It wasn't until I read another review that I realized it's about how we shouldn't worry so much about conforming to society's standards. I really appreciate that, because being a bit of a strange person myself I've always stood out- whether I liked it or not.
I love the fact that they embraced that no matter who you are or what you do, you're still you. That there will always be people who care about you, who are like you, you still fit in somewhere.
Pretty much my only complaints are that I was SO lost for a long time. "What is this?" and "What is even happening?" were questions that were…

Okay first things first.
Underrated and unexpected.
Watching the first episode is like "wait what" "it's this kind of anime?" "wow that's weird" "haha wat"
You get used to it pretty quickly, but was not at all what I was expecting going into it. Well I mean I think I skimmed the plot... but still definitely unexpected hhhhh.
Not really a lot to say with this one but
It's a pretty silly anime with a silly plot line and silly humour. I mean think Sakamoto, Saiki, etc... pretty nonsensical but entertaining as heck!
Silly stuff made me chuckle on most episodes (and maybe cringe sometimes too) and that's a good sign
Give it a watch

The building of a comedy series, whether it is characters, setting, or story, all really depends on its comedic factor. After all, even if everything in a gag anime or manga is great, but it doesn't make me laugh, it doesn't really fulfill its purpose. Really, nothing matters but the way the comedy is executed and presented
Arakawa Under the Bridge makes quite a unique take on how to create a comedic series. While the beginning of the story isn't extremely unique, it still draws people in, but also creates a restriction of setting: all of the story basically is under a bridge. This could be bad, as it disallows for a lot of scenarios, or you would think. A whole community, different type of life, and a whole cast of characters come to life right under a bridge. There's a church, farm, hom…

I really like this anime. It brings what it promises and offers to the public, which is a great comedy mixed with debauchs and sarcasms of the characters that are in the story. At first, Ararkawa Under the Bridge has touches of romance between Nino and Kou, and this little relationship is a fuse for the beginning of a story where everyone has something to present.
