Humanity Has Declined

Humanity Has Declined

Introduction

Because of the constantly declining birth rates over many decades, human civilization is all but extinct. With only a few humans remaining, they survive in this post-apocalyptic world with what was left behind by the previous generations. Earth is now dominated by fairies, tiny creatures with extremely advanced technology, an obsession with candy, and a complete disregard for human safety. A young girl who has just finished her studies returns to her hometown and is designated as an official United Nations arbitrator. Her duty is to serve as a link between mankind and fairies, reassuring each side that both races can live together peacefully. She imagines this task will be easy enough, but controlling the disasters created by the oblivious fairies in their pursuit of candy will require a lot more effort than she initially believes. THE FAIRIES ARE OOZING WITH CUTENESS! This is my kind of humor, deadpan and dry. The art is bizarre and very colorful, which creates a great contrast to the gloomy, post apocalyptic situation of humanity’s decline. The Ave Maria soundtrack is gold, especially when the skinned chickens came flying down from the sky. The opening is iconic, and the ending song is great too. The assistant is my favorite character. He said nothing, but ironically, he’s still the funniest character in the series. The fairies here aren’t only cuter than humans, they’re also 10x smarter. They can build a civilization in less than a week. If a fairy decided to toy with human life, there’s nothing humans could do against them. However, some scenes bored me, especially the Time Paradogs arc. Not only was it slo…

Interesting but also uninteresting. I watched it as it was intentionally made even though I had strong doubts about whether it would be a good idea and whether it wouldn't be better to watch it chronologically (which I had the urge to do). And here is the result. As a few people have already indicated, it's up to you how you approach this anime, whether you will enjoy it or not, because I tend to side with the opposite side. I originally chose it because of the comedy. If you can call it that, because I had to more or less force myself to laugh because the humor was so heavy (which has been happening to me a lot lately). FMC was okay and I more or less liked her monologues. But for me, the best was Joshu, who basically didn't talk but his behavior was funny. I have mixed feelings about the…

A long time ago, when my age didn’t start with “3”... hell it barely started with “1” I had a high fever, about 44 degrees celsius to be exact. I don’t remember much from those 3 days, but I do remember having a really trippy, surreal dream, the kind Hughes Mearns or Salvador Dali would be proud of. In it I saw creatures similar to gnomes and elves that talked to me, some wanted to cut me to little pieces, some wanted to cure me and some just watched with amusement at my suffering. For some reason I want’s scared but more curious about them. Later I found out that I had talked alot in my sleep and even made sounds that could be considered a conversation with someone who wasn’t there. Watching this anime made me remember that time and I imagine the author has a really wild imagination or…

Yo back with me who will review this anime. first of all why am i giving it a 10 over all? just think about it after i write this. - This story is really weird but amazing, what's weird about it? The first weird thing about the story or the plot, I think the episode is reversed or this is on purpose but after looking back this is true, both stories are weird in many other mystery story references, this is amazingly weird (did not mean to insult or demean other stories), what I mean first is the fairy, here the fairy exists like the author or the will of all the whole story takes place, the two mysteries of the story that you brought you know, this story is extraordinary mister, find out anything from various sources, here the author of this novel is really very deep on the references used…

Today I'm reviewing a strange one. I'm an older anime fan and I feel like I've seen a fair amount of anime at this point. It's kind of difficult to really surprise me. Jinrui is weird in the way that Twilight of the Cockroaches is weird. I started to ask questions like "Who made this?" "How did this get made?" "Who was this even made for?" The key difference is that Jinrui is actually good. Jinrui is a 12 episode...event that loosely adapts a bizarre series of light novels. A cataclysm that's never explained devastates Mankind at some point in the next 200 years. After that, Humanity really doesn't have the willpower to rebuild from scratch and we just kind of give up. People stop having kids and humanity rapidly starts heading towards extinction. However, this isn't portrayed in a horrib…

This is a very unique Anime, but I'm "NOT" recommending this to everyone. - Post-apocalyptic Fairy Tale Jinrui takes place at a time where humanity is at the brink of it's existence due to decline in birth rates. But a new chibi life form known as **"Fairies"** who have very high intelligence and a sweet tooth for sweets & happy things, are starting to take over the mass population of the Earth. Our nameless protagonist, who refers herself as "Watashi" (means 'I' or 'Me'), is a mediator who helps to maintain a balance between declining Humans and overgrowing Fairies. That didn't really sounded like a post-apocalyptic setting now, does it? I mean, the vibrant & relaxing art-style doesn't look like they're in loss of hope and existential dread. - Humans are intelligent Dominoes (Because we…

Man, they don't make anime like this anymore. I watched it a while ago, and barely remember what happened but I do remember how delightfully enjoyable I found the whole thing. The MC is kind of a misanthrope kind of forced into the role of a heroine, and I found her interactions with her wacky environment interesting. I do enjoy random humour quite a bit, and found that this show did that fairly well. Found the concepts for each episode very unique. I will probably rewatch this to see whether I'm gonna enjoy it as much as the first time, now that I don't remember much about individual plotlines in each of the episodes.

So after long last, finally I’ve decided to do another review, and that for a series that truly deserves more spotlight. Let’s not waste any time and begin. TLDR: don’t watch this for a complex story but for the wacky fun adventure you and the characters will find yourselves in and you’re gonna have a great time with this, highly recommended, this is a hidden gem. STORY(8/10): If you are looking for a complex story with tons of worldbuilding and depth and whatnots, then you can immediately turn around and avoid this. But if you are looking for a wacky fun adventure in a fantasy land with a morbid sense of humor, see how the characters created a BL boom, get stuck inside manga panels or a time loop, try to prevent skinned chickens from taking over the world and see the rise and fall to…

I once read a review of this describing it as "anime for people who hate anime". I have no idea what that means, but I do know that this underappreciated gem is odd, and not for everyone. I love it though. I love the LNs it's based on, too, which are possibly even weirder, if that's possible. In this odd little show, our protagonists are the last remnants of the human race, eking out an existence in an apocalyptic world where technology exists, but the world is run down and untamed once more. Our heroine is a bit of a nice, if self-serving young woman who is ambivalent about her job and life in general. She's an ambassador to the "fairies", tiny hominids with magic powers who now seemingly exist as the dominant life form on earth. The show satirizes a lot of things, doujinshi culture, c…

In all honesty, this has been one of the weirdest anime(s) I have watched to date and one of the most confusing that I’ve written a review for. I just don’t know exactly what to say about it. For starters, I guess I’ll point out that the humor in this show is absolutely crazy; you will see some of the weirdest stuff in this anime that you’ve never seen anywhere else. The biggest problem I found with that, however, is that it seems to be the key element of this anime and the only enjoyable part of it. Basically, if you don’t enjoy the sense of humor that’s used in this anime then you will find yourself utterly and dreadfully bored. Unfortunately it seems that that’s all this anime really has to offer which is fine but it’s really a make or break deal for who will enjoy it. Because I didn’t…

Humanity Has Declined takes place really far into the future, when humanity has, well... declined – are on the brink of extinction. "Fairies", human descendants, highly intelligent and capable miniature creatures with an unhealthy affinity towards sweets, have emerged. Our lead character is an UN assigned "mediator" between people and fairies. Humanity Has Declined is a satirical comedy. Through the exploration and recollection of a species discovering and reminiscing its long lost customs and values, the show questions these customs and values. You could say this particular aspect of show is in one way similar to Gintama – exploration of contemporary themes in a far-from-contemporary setting. The humor in the show is grounded and transient; as opposed to flashy and OTT in most comedy ani…

Sense. A sane and realistic attitude to situations and problems. A reasonable or comprehensible rationale. Something we all have regardless of how unintelligent or knowledgeable we are. But in spite of that... This anime... Is it okay? After finishing a crazy anime about censorship. I decided to find something relaxing to watch in order to clear my mind. Fortunately, this anime was waiting inside my plan to watch like it knows that I'd be picking it up soon. So I choose it as my next show and began watching it. And now... After spending some time watching the show... I... "What the fuucckkk?" but it was extraordinarily fun. This anime is cursed but it's entertaining to watch. The simple yet there's something hidden story grasped my attention fully up until the point where I had to…

oh an anime about the decline of humanity, let's start (sorry if my English is bad) a girl with negative personality dealing with the fairies who have such a big and mysterious technology, it is a rather strange series in my opinion it paints us a colorful cute world and at the end of the series it gives us something to talk about. the animation good soundtrack acceptable curious story. although everything is said in an indirect way and through jokes it shows us a bit of the true human nature, the author is not mistaken in anything and I really congratulate him, we should feel bad because of course it is not natural for any species that always advances there are bad things and always good things. the fairies or rather the humanity in an indirect way. tells us the mistakes we make, how…

I was supposed to watch Jinrui, also called Mankind Has Declined, about more than a week ago. It was a recommendation by a friend. He said it was pretty interesting and so, I took him up on the suggestion. If you go by the synopsis available on MyAnimeList, you really can’t deny that Jinrui sounds just as advertised by my dear buddy. Now if you have a habit of judging things by the cover then you’re in a bit of bad luck. I went into Jinrui expecting it to be a somewhat fresh take on the post-apolyptic shitfest genre with a sprinkle of comic moments here and there ala the style of Steins;Gate. It actually turned out to be way much more different than I thought. The very first thing you should know about Jinrui before starting it is that the story does unfold in chronological order – unlik…

[6.0/10] _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Humanity has Declined left me puzzled. Not necessarily out of confusion of whether I enjoyed the show or not. Spoiler, I did, but because I can't help but feel that if this series was more geared for "me", as someone with taste and emotion and certain biases, I would've down-right loved it. I think the best way I could describe Humanity has Declined is that of an audacious delight. Audacious because of the downright fascinating narrative choices, both in story and structure, and a delight because when everything wraps up at the end you are often times left going, "that was clever!" A series thats biggest flaw in my eyes is simply its creative deviations from what I prefer, which…

***This is a spoiler free review*** There was one show that stuck out from the rest of the crowd during the 2012 summer season. This anime, Humanity Has Declined had the randomness and uniqueness of Gintama and while I would say I enjoyed it almost as much, certain parts of the season really brought it down. Story: 5/10 So starting out with a downer, the plot is very incoherent. To give you an idea of what the show is about, we follow Mediator who is in charge of overlooking the fairies in the surrounding area. She and her assistant, Assistant (what a cleaver name…) run into many different experiences over the course of the season. The first story arc is brilliantly funny and a joy to watch but the following arcs felt…out of place. We learn towards the end of the show that the final ep…

I started watching anime thanks to stories with really abstract humour - you know, the type where you are not sure if what you're watching is so sophisticated that your stupid brain can't process it, or just really unfunny. Either way, more often than not these jokes tend to fly over my head. And Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita ("Mankind Has Declined" - probably due to watching shitty Chinese cartoons, amrite? Anyone?) is this type of show ...to some degree. Post-apocalyptic world that's as far from popular visions as it's possible, populated both by mankind, that's not really suffering and new dominant race - fairies. And it's thanks to the latter that this show contains described type of humour. This little guys are always smiling, living without a care in the world, having almost unlimited…

_Wibbly Wobbly - Timey Wimey_ The structure of this anime is really cool in how non-chronological it is. They set up tons of mysterious situations, with little cute but mischievous gnomes, robots, silent sidekicks, duplicates, dystopias, and the structure accentuates those mysteries. Every episode could be set at any time, at any place, at any point in a story that hasn't started yet. That makes it really cool. On the other hand a few episodes felt a little hit or miss, and also some of the mysteries start to fall apart into just complete lunacy, which is funny but not always equally satisfying. It's got a great deadpan sense of humor, and a very attractive pastel art style.

Sound: 10 The soundtrack was really good, and it fit really well with the anime. The ending song was specially good, and the studio managed to make it part of the story at times. Story: 8 The chapters are not in chronological order, and I think this worked in favor of the anime. The only problem was that a few chapters were really dragged out just to make a pun at the end. Art: 10 Visuals are pretty good and cheery. Characters: 10 The characters are really likable, especially Watashi. She's kind of Yuno without the psychotic side. Well, she sometimes has a psychotic side too. The fairies are the oddball in this anime, and it's what makes it differents from others. Enjoyment: 10 I wish this anime hadn't ended :(

Mankind has declined and magical fairies have taken over the planet. Interesting, right? - How did mankind decline? - What happened to society, economy, etc? - Where did the fairies come from? - What's the source of their magic? If you're looking for answers to the above questions, be prepared, you'll not going to get them. This anime raises several questions with each episode, yet answers absolutely none of them. Despite this, it's a lot of fun. After a couple of episodes you'll stop questioning and you'll accept any kind of weirdness that come up in this show. To me, the purpose of this anime is pure entertainment, which is executed quite well (in a simple, let's say "dumb" way). The main character's internal dialogues are especially entertaining as she is pointing out various inc…
