nichijou is a timeless classic, perfect for those who are into slice of life, comedy, and the genre of "cute girls doing cute things". for some people, its hard to get into anime when there is a lot of fanservice. nichijou is one of the few shows ive watched where there is no sexually explicit fanservice for any characters, which is a breath of fresh air for someone who watches a lot of anime lol
im biased since this is one of my all time favorite series, but it holds its position strong for a reason. rewatch factor is a 10, the jokes dont get old and its almost neverending. many of the gags have layers and parts to them, holding relevancy in later episodes. there is so much attention to detail with the storytelling for something with a non linear plot. something that i really appreciate…

Overall, it was actually a flawless experience - I loved every single element and moment of it.
ARTSTYLE & DESIGNS
- I'm mentioning them at the same time because they were intrinsically linked with each other; they were both amazing. For starters, every single artstyle was awesome - a lot of variety, from complex and incredibly detailed; through "smooth" and "sharp" with the way it looked; to simple but focusing on one particular aspect.
- The color palette would change along with them too; for example, a true "explosion" of colors during one moment, only to go into monochrome in another scene. But one thing stayed the same - it was always great.
- The usual artstyle was like something straight out a book for c…

Nichijou feels like a Japanese Monty Python...
It also feels surprisingly modern and almost western in it's cuts and pacing between scenes. I really haven't seen anything like it from Japan.
It's very much more of an sketch show than your traditional comedy anime so fans of traditional CGDCT / slice of life should be wary.
There is no real story so to speak and what little story there is only serves as a loose way of presenting each sketch segment together. The characters feel varied and are fun.
Comedy is its main draw and the humour I would say is generally enjoyable with a lot of jokes relying on dry absurdity. This may be more relatable to British comedy than American.
Only a few segments made me laugh out loud and a fair deal went over my head since I can only assume rely much on…

A Beautiful Descent into Organized Madness
Let me start by saying: the writers of Nichijou are either comedic geniuses operating on a galaxy brain level we mere mortals can't comprehend… or they’ve been off their meds for a while. Possibly both. Either way, I love them.
Watching Nichijou is like getting hit in the face with a glitter cannon filled with existential absurdity. One minute you're watching a girl wrestle a deer in a school hallway like she's auditioning for National Geographic: Tokyo Drift, and the next, a robot girl is making breakfast while hiding the fact that she's literally powered by a giant wind-up key in her back. And don’t even get me started on the talking cat who’s somehow the most emotionally stable character in the whole show.
I honestly think the writers sat in…

This show is a masterclass in animation as a form of comedy in its solitary medium. Over-exaggeration of inward emotions being reflected in the bombastic animation styleization is phenomenal. This show lends itself quite well to the slice-of-life genre and remains one of the key outliers in key animation styles for the genre.
Nichijou reflects the basics of passionate life, through various clips on youtube, to rampant online gifs, there is no way to avoid spoilers with this anime; moreover I think not only should you watch this in spite of the spoilers to certain scenes, but watch this because the experience will be even funnier in my opinion if you're just waiting in suspense for that one mail man scene or just the iconic dog bite.
There's so much to say about this show but to tie this…

I had high expectations considering I love the genre and I heard this was highly regarded. Unfortunately this steaming pile of excrement is so utterly devoid of humor or competent writing for that matter, it makes me question people’s sanity. I can count the number of times I genuinely laughed at gags on one hand. I do like randomness humor but this was so random combined with the fact that the basic writing was so poor, it makes for one of the most painful watches I’ve ever had. And it’s a shame because somewhere in here is 12 very competent episodes if they were allowed to shine and by shine I mean heavily re-edited and rewritten.

How to say.... It is very Highly Recommended if u just wanto to chill, laugh , or maybe want to know whats an absurd comedy in japan.
The show it self centered around highschool girls, daily lives, comedic clip in between scene of the show. Do enjoy this show while eating, together with friends. It is absolutely rewatchable, even after a while it is still gives me gag a laugh. The comedic timing and absurdity of the show makes this show's unique persona. Kyoto Animation absolutely nail this one, but unfortunate the BD sales werent high enough at the time. The visuals is very amazing, the well put scenarios and sound effect also The soundtrack itself, i can tell it has a lot of effort putting some musicians to be worked on the show. I gotta say if you havent watched this show, then you mus…

Nichijou is a comedy SOL anime at its core with a very unique and ridiculous way of showing the lifes of the characters in the anime, sometimes mundane but often insane.
The anime while having 6 main characters, it's side characters has plenty of personality and depth to the point where even it's background characters are unique and given scenes that make the world of nichijou more lively despite it's limited world building. The voice acting performance of the characters are also very good and sometimes you can hear them just having a blast in some scenes (the male teacher being one of them).
It has a plot that are a lot of the times are just mundane things with a side of romance here and there, the episodes are seperated by several segments such as Nichijou(main plot, usually), Helvetic…

One of the best comedies I've seen. Some of the jokes do go over my head since I do not live in Japan where some of these jokes are relatable. But most are still very much relatable to any kid growing up and the way characters react is extremely human which furthers the comedy behind each skit and scene. The characters themselves are all very enjoyable to watch and I never find myself bored at any time. There's just about one overarching story going on with plenty of side characters living their own lives which isn't as enjoyable but it's still entertaining. Even if you aren't the biggest fan of the Slice of Life genre, more than likely you will have a great time with Nichijou with it's clever writing, relatable characters, and over-the-top visuals.

To be honest, I understand the concept of the series being episodic, similar to the style of Tomie, where each story resolves within one chapter and doesn't follow a continuous plot makes it easier to follow since you can watch any episode without needing to catch up on previous ones. Nichijou is truly peak comedy anime for me but I would rate it as just very good because of its lack of a continuous story. If this anime had an overarching plot, it would be much better because everything else about it is great: the characters, voice acting, animation, comedic relief, mood, tone, OST—almost everything connects with the great sense of humor they represent. The primary issue is the episodic nature of the narrative making it feel more aimless to follow since it concludes minimally in each insta…

This is definitely and anime of all time. Depending on your type of humor this will be hit or miss but if you like it you'll love it. I'll admit not all of the jokes landed for me but when they did it was great. All the characters are enjoyable. The way the episodes are laid out in little bits just make it an easy relaxable watch without much of an overarching plot. Now some of the jokes I could definitely tell were Japanese jokes and I just did not understand them at all, which is fine, its a Japanese so I'm mostly just not taking any of that into consideration when I give it my rating. Only downside is I wish there was more because its a great time.

Random and absurd slice of life comedy that can be relatable at times, each episode is totally random as it is mostly moe comedy that some times goes into full action mode where all the characters start getting serious for silly and hilarious reasons.
Story:
Let's state the obvious, there is no overarching story and it doesn't try to deliver any message but that doesn't mean there's no character development as there are minor character arcs which doesn't ruin the heartwarming experience of the show, I especially found the story of Nano a robot wanting to live a normal life very heartwarming. this show have a random pacing that takes some time to get used to it, absurdity is how to describe Nichijou so it makes sense for it to have an absurd pacing.
Character:
This show have varying main…

Wow... Nichijou is a masterpiece of an anime. It's more like a "What the hell?" anime in the most amazing way. As it is a slice of life, already not much is to be expected. But, it is an amazing anime. The animation is absolutely amazing. This anime is purely an example of Kyoto Animation's extraordinary work. The anime being funny, cute, and episodic is truly a feat I've rarely seen pulled off well. Nichijou is a one-of-a-kind anime. I have never seen anything like it. There is no plot, and just follows the life of highschoolers, and it is somehow the best anime I've ever watched.
The humor is very simple and enjoyable. This anime honestly taught me just to enjoy everything. Seeing Yuuko, Mai, and Mio just enjoying their lives mostly carefree as highschoolers really said a lot to me. The…

Title: Nichijou - My Ordinary Life
Rating: 9/10
Introduction:
"Nichijou - My Ordinary Life" transcends the ordinary in the anime landscape, crafting a whimsical universe where the absurd seamlessly intertwines with the everyday. Adapted from Keiichi Arawi's manga, this slice-of-life series showcases a delightful blend of comedy, surrealism, and heartfelt moments. As an avid anime enthusiast, I delve into the enchanting world of "Nichijou," detailing its unique charm and explaining why it unequivocally deserves a stellar 9/10 rating.
A Quirky and Refreshing Slice of Life:
At its core, "Nichijou" is a celebration of the peculiarities found in the mundane. The series introduces us to a trio of high school girls - the spirited Yuuko, the stoic Mai, and the charmingly robotic Nano - whose…

Nichijou is a big package of comedy skits with cute and crazy school girls, sometimes boys, and their teachers doing cute and crazy things, as well as an android and their genius 8 y/o creator, a talking cat, any many more.
KyoAni did a fantastic job with both the animation and art style, being pretty much flawless. Everyone is cute and distinctive. One of the main aspects of Nichijou is in it's absurdity. It takes the advantage of being an anime/manga to do, in my opinion, beautiful surrealist punchlines, and I love that craziness. It is a prominent characteristic since the beginning. And a little of that is present in everything, like the character designs, their routines, the punchlines, etc.
It doesn't really have a plot, but most skits are in chronological order, so you can see charac…

We all have experiences in life that we've shared together; something everyone's done. Whether that's having a secret exposed, feeling embarrassed, a dedication to something that you love, or even just the quiet, lovely moments that only you and your friends really cherish, it's all of a feeling we can relate to. Keiichi Arawi's Nichijou - My Ordinary Life takes those experiences we all know and remember, and injects quite possibly the most exaggerated dramatization of what the experiences, no matter how large or small, feel to us in our head. And I think that, in its entirety, is where the magic lies in this anime.
Nichijou involves the everyday lives of three high school girls, and the interactions they hold in their high school and outside of class, as well as an intertwining story of…

Straight-up the best anime of all time. There is nothing quite like Nichijou.
The closest thing I could think to compare it to would be like if Japan had an equivalent to Peanuts. Not necessarily in-terms of popularity, but in regards to strong characterization, quirky or surreal sequences, and an indescribably comfy vibe. Peanuts is something I typically describe as "Either meant to be comfy, or make you smile or laugh." And Nichijou absolutely feels this way as well. There's a 4 year old girl who is somehow a scientist that invents impossible devices, there's a cat with the personality of a middle-aged man, there's a girl who is always blowing up or shooting a particular guy, yet he is always completely unharmed. It sets up these absurd characters and scenarios, and does not explain the…

Truly a one of a kind masterpiece. Ranges from hilarious, relaxing, touching, and absurd. Amazing character dynamics and development between them as the show continues, pulling characters from separate vengettes to one big family by the end. Stunning art direction, storytelling, and comedy all combines to make the most creative show I’ve ever seen in my life, and the one that kept me constantly guessing the first time I saw it. There’s just the right amount of sweetness, chaos, and comedy that goes into it. These days whenever I’m having a bad day or feel unwell just throwing it on feels comforting. I think it’ll forever hold my #1 spot. I’d recommend it to anybody who likes slice of life, gag comedy, surrealist, and even relaxing/healing anime.

So my experience with Nichijou was pretty lukewarm in general, so here's to a lukewarm review. In as few words as possible, I would describe it as "a mediocre comedy with incredibly high production value and some golden moments interspersed between otherwise tryhard and sometimes tedious jokes".
As this is a comedy series, the jokes and comedic timing and such are criteria by which to judge its quality. Well, on that front the thing kinda flops for me, at least. Most of the scenes are far too drawn out and rarely feature a satisfying punchline, but you mileage may vary. Nichijou does try an interesting approach to comedy, which is certainly not to everyones tastes (even if it is, I don't think it's executed consistently well), so to get a general feel I recommend you just watch the first…

If you don't like slice of life, you won't like this show. If you don't like absurdist comedy, you will find the show boring. If you didn't like the first 5 minutes, you probably won't like the other 500 minutes. If you want fan service, get out of my sight.
If you are a native English speaker, you should consider watching the English dub if you want the full experience. There are jokes and references that aren't funny or don't flow right if you can't speak Japanese, and the subtitles don't do it justice. I'm not a dub person but the voice actors absolutely knocked it out of the park, and you'll likely find it much more enjoyable.
Either way, 10/10 with an 11/10 art style.
