Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid

Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid

Introduction

As Kobayashi sets off for another day at work, she opens her apartment door only to be met by an unusually frightening sight—the head of a dragon, staring at her from across the balcony. The dragon immediately transforms into a cute, busty, and energetic young girl dressed in a maid outfit, introducing herself as Tooru. It turns out that the stoic programmer had come across the dragon the previous night on a drunken excursion to the mountains, and since the mythical beast had nowhere else to go, she had offered the creature a place to stay in her home. Thus, Tooru had arrived to cash in on the offer, ready to repay her savior's kindness by working as her personal maidservant. Though deeply regretful of her words and hesitant to follow through on her promise, a mix of guilt and Tooru's incredible dragon abilities convinces Kobayashi to take the girl in. Despite being extremely efficient at her job, the maid's unorthodox methods of housekeeping often end up horrifying Kobayashi and at times bring more trouble than help. Furthermore, the circumstances behind the dragon's arrival on Earth seem to be much more complicated than at first glance, as Tooru bears some heavy emotions and painful memories. To top it all off, Tooru's presence ends up attracting several other mythical beings to her new home, bringing in a host of eccentric personalities. Although Kobayashi makes her best effort to handle the crazy situation that she has found herself in, nothing has prepared her for this new life with a dragon maid. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

KyoAni still making great quality anime as alway, doing something they excel at in a somewhat slice of life work, with good animation and humor. premise is fun, well used, and character are lovable for the most part. Seeing the gloomy Kobayashi warming up and making a family with her maid and new daughter was the main quality of this show. But, and the manga autor is at fault here, some character dynamic like Lucoa are just plain cringe and make some episode go from pretty cute and heartwarming to mega shotacon fast. but it would be my only dislike for this anime

Kobayashi Needed Some D Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid is the story, about how one drunken night changes a woman's life forever, and now he has a big dragon family to feed. The show walks of fine line between being comfy and horny as Hall, but despite it never goes so over the top that it becomes all out perversion, It's keeps it balanced with wholesome moments. It does relationships and family buildings great, and seeing the characters to together really makes it feel like an adopted family, and it works extremely well. Kobayashi is such a well-made character in how she thinks and reacts, she has an analytical way of looking in things that makes conflict solution so interesting to watch, and so wonderful to see her change throughout the series. The dragon characters are good, because th…

The daily life of a salarywomen raising ancient dragons. 8/10 TL:DR; This is one of the most well-rounded, beautifully mundane slice of lifes out there - but with impeccably animated dragon shenanigans. The thoughtful character interactions go beyond anything a series like this has any right to pull off so well. And it's so cute and sweet, you'll get a cavity if you binge-watch it. The Review: A lot of series feature the ___ in human form concept, but this is one of the few that really incorporates their true form into the mix. It's not a one-and-done, single-dimensional joke in this series. They manage to keep the dragon maid concept fresh and just as random in each episode. It always goes in a direction you don't really expect, and if you do, the incredibly paced comedic timing still m…

This show is really about Kyoto Ani using their usual skills, with incredible artistic storytelling to elevate a trash fetish work to be as wonderful and good hearted as it can be. There is a perfect story about found family and love in the midst of this, as well as appreciation for peace and leisure. The problem is, they chose a trash fetish work to faithfully adapt, and they also leaned into the fetish because it gets engagement for their business. There has never been a Kyoto Ani show with so many ridiculous balloon boobs. It could teach people and maybe even porn addicts to appreciate life, and it also tries to get normal people to accept these disgusting fetishes. Empathy and love is important and healing, and the slice of life moments are very relatable. These dragons have tough liv…

This anime drained me so much, it was the catalyst of my 4 month burnout. I was initially excited to watch a nice cozy slice of life anime, as the description suggested. It was so highly recommended online, plus it has good reviews on here, so I figured it would be a solid watch. The premise is simple, and what follows is a string of cute antics as dragons try to fit into human society. But the problem is the show leans SO HARD into gimmicks and fanservice instead of going into what could’ve been a genuinely warm and character driven story. Every time the anime tries to hint at something deeper, it immediately reverts to awkward boob jokes or dramatized reactions. Plus the random ‘quirkiness’ that does not land. I usually really like light hearted and slice of life shows, but this was…

Maid Dragon is a Fantasy cute slice of life story anime, you will follow a dragon maid living with a human women. They will meet other dragons as the anime progress that wants to live in the human world without other humans know about it. All the characters are unique and have a fun or sad backstory that is interesting. The anime have some fighting scenes that goes super hard, not many animes out there that goes with such hard and beautiful quality of fighting animations, effects and sound quality. And honestly that always makes me laugh that it is like that. Expect a real high quality show that is funny, exciting, incredible animation and good story.

What happens when you take the controversial anime genre called "Slice of Life", mix it with some dragons (One preferably dressed as a maid) and entertainment that will be remembered as iconic and cute. You get Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid. This is the first Slice of Life anime that I've ever watched, and for a first Slice of Life series, it was surprising to me how creative and entertaining this show was. First, the direction, writing, gags and messages that the show offers is all so endearing and creative, especially when it comes to adding literal dragons in the show (The characters will be talked about a little later). However the show was directed, they did it so well that not only are the twelve episodes were such a wacky yet cute and funny experience, but made fans like me wonder h…

So, I like the relationship between the two main leads. I would totally ship them. Kobayashi is funny, and interesting for a female lead. She has a lot of stereo typically male characteristics (black out drunk, bad at cleaning, likes a girl in a maid outfit...). Tooru is cute. The art is nice. There is not much of a plot, which is ok. Slice of life can be fun, but in this case it does drag a little. Dragons are great! However, there is some awkward fan service, particularly with characters who are children. If we took that element out (or even just kept the fan service to the adult characters!), my rating would rise by several points for sure.

This anime combine the typical trope of SoL and combine with high fantasy creature, dragon. Which lead to everyday comedy being taken to the next level because well, now they include dragon. Although the real dragon form is rarely seen. Instead they turn into cute anime girls to fit into our human society. Worry not becauss there are also male dragon for you all male lover out there. Though if I'm gonna be honest, this anime is targeted toward the man demographic with excessive fan service, especially the boing-boing. Sometimes I get bothered, but its not as often. They're not always shove it into the show. Following a female kuudere main character who rarely give a shit, that's why she's the perfect main character for this show. She will never overreact or anything right? Anyway she's ve…

I’m going to get straight to the point: All of the unnecessary fanservice and especially the ones involving the children really prevent the series from being great. I love all the characters (my personal favourite is Elma), the animation is gorgeous and it handles the slice-of-life genre with comedic and sometimes emotional elements perfectly. The anime is super cozy to watch and if it weren‘t for all the fanservice with outright pedophilic elements, this would be a great comfort show. I also really love watching the children, especially Kanna and Saikawa when they aren‘t pinning each other down. They are legitimately very cute when they‘re not being used as a fanservice device.

What was promised based on the synopsis was a fantastical character-driven anime conceived from a human and a dragon adjusting to each other's cultural differences. What we get instead is an unfunny gag comedy pertaining to family dynamics, in that the series suffers a bit by essentially being a bait and switch. What was initially captivating was great, as seen by the first two episodes, takes a turn as a lot of seemingly unnecessary elements are added in to retract from the appeal. Mainly, the series has a bit of a fetishistic appeal. It has not one, not two, but three fetishes (possibly more), most of which involve characters whose entire purpose is just a cheap gag. It’s the same story as before, but with the added hit-or-miss comedy and incessant pandering. The story itself is simple…

This is a review of seasons 1 and 2 I feel like the fact that I haven't seen this until now has been a big red flag on my credibility as a Kyoto Animation fan. I think at the time I was just confused at the shift in art style and kinda put it on indefinite hold for that alone. Looking at it now, it's a stunningly animated show in its own right. And I'd much rather have a wide variety of art styles in the animation medium than to have everything assimilate into one singular construct. It's art! Be fun! Be expressive! Be unique! But back to Dragon Maid. I think it stands alongside other classic 4-koma series such as Azumanga Daioh and Nichijou with its quick wit and slapstick humor. This show definitely leans more into..... ecchi humor.... than those other shows do, but that's thankfully no…

The reasons why Dragon Maid is good are that it presents sweet characters with beautiful drawings and animation in the slice of life genre, the characters are sincere, sweet and interesting, and the story is not delved into too deeply in the anime, which gives the viewer the freedom to watch any episode they want. The anime includes comedy, slice of life and battles, neither being too serious nor too sweet, thus maintaining the balance. You already know KyoAni's drawings, they are masters of the epicness of battle scenes and the sweetness of wholesome moments, and Dragon Maid is an anime with better fight scenes than some war anime. Moreover, the anime does not focus on a single topic; each episode feels new because the events of other characters take place in each episode. Moreover, the f…

It's not the first time I've tried to watch it, held back at each attempt by the feeling of having to deal with a rather basic comedy series. So with the third attempt, I tried to hang on to see what it's really worth, and... It was soo good! I was really surprised by the themes and the rich development of some of the characters. Even for the first few episodes, which are, in fact, a good overview of the subtle narrative efficiency of the work. There are a few flaws, notably a few Japanese clichés for which I'm clearly not the public, but they represent such a small portion of the series that it's pretty negligible in the end. Very good anime !

This is one of my favourite anime and I watched it over and over when I was in my teens. However, now that I'm older, I still love it, but I'm also deeply uncomfortable with it. I'm fine with fan-service and I don't care if it's in a show. However, since this is directed towards and sometimes includes characters who are children, I cannot say in good faith that this is a show I can be supportive of. I don't care that Kanna is 1000 years old when the other dragons refer to her as a child in age and is a character who literally attends elementary school. It's just not something I'm morally okay with despite loving other aspects of this show.

This is by far the least comfortable watch in existence. When people say they think "anime is weird", they mean anything from this show. Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid feels like a scroll through R34 with all tags enabled. People keep mentioning the yuri baiting but the real problem is not really the yuri baiting. It's futa baiting. If you don't know what these terms mean, that means you definitely shouldn't watch this. This is deep into porn addict territory. I think I'm pretty forgiving when it comes to age gap stuff. But this show is definitely a no-no. For example, I usually forgive something like middle-school-child-crush-stuff as long as the characters aren't sexualized. However, Riko's crush on Kanna will often tread into sexual territory. That's very uncomfortable. There's also a d…

I was late on the Kobayashi bandwagon. I watched the first episode soon after it was released and said - "Nope, not my cup of Sake." Then years later I was watching on of those "best anime battle scene" collections on YouTube. Tohru vs Elma was in there. Tohru vs Ilulu. Wow. So I went back and binged it - the anime had come to an end a few years earlier. I am so glad I revisited it. Tons of humor, amazing animation, fantastic score, unbeatable voice acting. It was just fun! Sure, it's slow and slice-of-lice at times, but it's also a rollercoaster. One minute it's eating sweets and the next it's a battle in the air with enough energy to level a city.

One of the anime I watched during middle school was recommended by an anime group on Facebook Initially, I thought it was just an ordinary anime about a red-haired person. However, it turned out to be much more than that. One of the most touching moments was when a dragon named Tohru, who had been saved by Kobayashi, wanted to repay the favor. Kobayashi, while drunk, had unknowingly helped a fierce, injured dragon who had escaped to Earth Thus began the daily life of Kobayashi and Tohru, who helped with house chores, learned about human life, and tried to control her usual dragon rage. It's as if Kobayashi was Tohru's tamer, while Tohru developed feelings for Kobayashi after being saved that day. This anime contains yuri bait, which might be unsettling for some people In the middle of t…

tl;dr: An amusing anime about a salary woman, her abrupt dragon maid, and all their friends plodding through life. This anime is about a completely normal office worker named Kobayashi that gets drunk and hires a dragon to be her maid. The dragon, Tohru, actually shows up at her doorstep, ready to get to work and though Kobayashi is reluctant, ultimately her big heart wins out and she agrees to let Tohru stay. However, Tohru knows nothing about maids, or the human world at all really. Rather, she has a pretty extreme view where she looks down on all humans other than Kobayashi who she is obsessively in love with. Still, over time she manages to learn enough about the human world to fit in quite nicely, and ultimately various other dragons that follow her do so as well. The greatest stren…
