Love Live! School Idol Project

Love Live! School Idol Project

Introduction

Otonokizaka High School is in a crisis! With the number of enrolling students dropping lower and lower every year, the school is set to shut down after its current first years graduate. However, second year Honoka Kousaka refuses to let it go without a fight. Searching for a solution, she comes across popular school idol group A-RISE and sets out to create a school idol group of her own. With the help of her childhood friends Umi Sonoda and Kotori Minami, Honoka forms μ's (pronounced "muse") to boost awareness and popularity of her school. Unfortunately, it's all easier said than done. Student council president Eri Ayase vehemently opposes the establishment of a school idol group and will do anything in her power to prevent its creation. Moreover, Honoka and her friends have trouble attracting any additional members. But the Love Live, a competition to determine the best and most beloved school idol groups in Japan, can help them gain the attention they desperately need. With the contest fast approaching, Honoka must act quickly and diligently to try and bring together a school idol group and win the Love Live in order to save Otonokizaka High School. Single handedly the best idol anime that exists. Obviously this is subjective and I may be biased because I’m a huge fan of the Love Live franchise, but it literally changed my life. Essentially, Love Live School Idol Project is an anime about a group of girls that get together and become idols to save their school from closing due to a lack of students, and they face challenges as they grow. The characters are so well written, especially Honoka, who is complex but in my opinion very relatable (especially for teenage girls, which is the audience I’d recommend this series to). I started watching Love Live when I was 13, and I felt genuinely connected to it, the songs are amazing and everything about it is just so heartfelt. I’ll admit, sometimes the fanservice can be a little bit too much.…

Here in the West, Love Live (LL) has a unique perception. The franchise has been a heavyweight in Japan since its early days, and still enjoys decent popularity overseas, but not as much as it did in the late 2010s/early 2020s. Due to its popularity, this can be one of the first entries that exposes a viewer to idol anime. Since idol culture is not really a Western concept, some elements of it can be mistranslated depending on how it is presented. In an anime like this one, with its predominantly schoolgirls cast, peppy music, and colorful designs, the sum is a package of an anime that can understandably come off as too cute. Even with that being the case, there are still elements from this anime that viewers more broadly may be able to appreciate. Those aspects and others will be covered…

As a quick PSA, while I did mark my review of this anime with the "mixed feelings" tag, that doesn't mean I did not like it. I did, more or less. I don't regret spending time on watching this, but it won't be that way for everyone. (Please also take this review with a grain of salt as I took a break from watching about midway through and thus some impact was lost on me, even though there were moments in the first half that made me feel at least a little emotional.) Honestly, I don't think there is much to say. "Love Live: School Idol Festival" has a very simple concept that it sticks to — high school idols — without deviating too far into other themes. The story does not try to get much deeper beyond the typical cliches like the power of friendship/music, high school nostalgia, persisting…

This anime is more than the sum of its parts. Each individual part of this anime is silly, trite, unrealistic, a waste of time... all those things and more besides. But put them all together and you get an enjoyable story that is all about following your dreams, and, not to bury the lede, I really enjoyed it. This anime follows Honoka and her friends as they start a "school idol group" to bring some much needed students to their school, which is about to close if nothing's done. They surpass many obstacles and disappointments on their way to fame, glory, and most importantly to them, keeping the school they love open. The core treatise of this anime is to follow your dreams, no matter where they might lead, and no matter what stands in your way. The characters are likable and have realis…

Note: This will be a review of the series in its entirety. Overview: While teenage pop stars aren't exactly unheard of in the West, they're much more prominent in Japan, to the point that there's an entire industry based around them. Known as idols, they are primarily singers with general training in acting and dancing as well, with many groups becoming incredibly popular around the country. "Love Live! School Idol Project", usually known simply as "Love Live!" is the first in an ongoing franchise of anime centred around schoolgirls who become idols, and proves itself to be worth watching for far more than just its music. Story (8.5/10): "Love Live!" is set primarily in the all-girls Otonokizaka High School, which is in danger of closing due to the number of applicants having dropped mor…

I really wish MAL had a .5 rating, I am very torn between 9 and 10 for this show, especially the last few episodes really made me lean towards a 10. This show is great from the beginning and only sets itself up for an amazing ending that is such a rollercoaster and had me hooked the entire time I watched it, the cast is great with each character all having their unique characteristics and the music is really good, like REALLY good. Really excited to go into season 2 after the peak that is eps 11,12 and 13. Easy recommend if you enjoy good music and idols :)

I am speaking for the entirety of the School Idol Project I was honestly expecting an intense competition between school idols before I watch the show. It did have one but its safe to say that it wasn't the main point of the show. The music wasn't bad in fact I really love some of them especially "A song for you! you? you!!" and "Snow Halation". But the way it was presented it almost feel like they focused more in the dance which makes sense since they're idols, pretty standard for an idol. Their performance is good its replicatable in real life but it always felt lacking on something imo. Some of their performance isn't as lively as how I would expect an idol to be. Their performance isn't boring or bad in some way its just that the way it is animated didn't give emphasis to their perfo…

Nico Nico Nii~ Nico's catchphrase is what introduced me and many others to Love Live!, but it isn't the reason we stayed and enjoyed the anime. Love Live! is a show about school idols, and is a CGDCT (cute girls doing cute things) anime. It is one of the better examples of the genre, and I gave it a show after enjoying Bocchi the Rock! even though I have never really liked the genre. And I'm glad I gave it a shot, as I had a great time watching Love Live! School Idol Project. Story - 5 (2x) The story isn't anything special, Honoka (our protagonist) is in her 2nd year of high school, when she hears that the school will be shutting down next year if not enough students enroll. The school will shutdown only after all current students graduate, but no one will be able to enroll, leaving the…

Love Live and its sequels are a true treasure in the world of anime. From the moment I saw the vibrant and colorful animation, the originality of the art and character design, I knew I was about to embark on an exciting adventure. The incredibly well-produced music should win awards if it weren't for the rest of the music world not wanting to be overshadowed by it. It combines with the energetic performances of the girls, creating an atmosphere full of joy and positive energy. The animation feels fluid and uses meticulous traditional animation; there is never any cost-cutting with 3D or simplified or undrawn backgrounds. Although the characters may seem stereotypical at first glance, I have discovered that each of the Love Live girls has her own charm and distinctive personality. As the s…

I've never been a fan of "cute girls doing cute things" animes. This is the first idol anime I watched so it's just okay but it's definitely not for me. I mostly watched it because my friends loved it anyways. What annoys me is this stupid moment when one of the girls is like "Oh no, the skirt on this costume is just too short", tf you're talking about, the skirt of your uniform is the same length... It's just not for me, I understand why people like this but to think some people are obsessed over it is just weird to me.

having such a big cast can be a double edged sword, because while you have a bigger chance of having a character for everyone, it's hard to strike a good balance of making a fleshed out group without having the entire show feel bloated. what's cool about love live is how it achieves this balance. it spaces out these characters' proper introductions into the cast throughout the series, but also shows a lot of them right out the gate without it feeling rushed or confusing. you wonder before the next episode when the character you saw earlier will come into play, and by the time they do they have time to develop and the prior characters have had their own development earlier. really good music here of course, i think maki's solo piano song near the beginning is my favorite. would be a 10/10 i…

Enjoyed it! I already knew about this series since I have played the game and tried to watch this many many times before but I finally finished! This anime is very good for its time and is very easy to keep up with. It was definitely a lot better then I remember, the drama and big moments felt more “real” than other idol series. Muse always didn’t get their way and struggled to become school idols, which I like since most idol animes don’t show much struggle or if they do, it always works out for their favor. For me, as someone who already knew all the characters, this show made me like the third years, especially Nozomi, way more. I always thought of her as pervy bait (which is still kind of true) but she showed a different color to me once I watched the anime and I like her a lot more t…

This review treats season 1, season 2, the OVA, and the movie as one show. What I think your expectations should be: Laughter - No, this is not a comedy. Ecchi Arousal - No, not once did I ever feel aroused during this show. Unstoppable Push from Compelling Plot - I didn't really feel much of a push from the plot, and I had to exert some willpower sometimes to keep watching. Unstoppable Push to Keep Watching - I didn't really feel much of a push from the plot, and I had to exert some willpower sometimes to keep watching. Wholesomeness - I'd say it's very wholesome. Maybe describing it as having a lot of "heart" is more accurate. Action Dopamine - No, there weren't any physical fights. Tears of Sorrow - Yes. I think many episodes made me cry out of sorrow, especially on the later epi…

The very first Love Live anime, the legendary μ's. Finally after a year stuck in this idol hell, I have the time to watch the OG Love Live anime. I've been hearing about this anime left and right in the community. So when I watch this decade old anime, I feel like watching some kind of legend history. I know I'm exaggerating, but I'm just so excited. Story 9/10 This is a decade old anime, so avoiding spoiler is almost impossible. But after knowing so many spoilers, the story still interesting for me. While yes I know how it will ended, I'm still invested with their journey to become a school idol. There's a lot of little detail someone don't talk about, and that is one of the interesting part. The ending feels a bit rushed tho with everything going on at the same time, but yeah its just t…

When first i saw the title i was with that though i gonna watch once, and didn't cared too much. When the has camed to begined i never though i gonna love too much. Once a friend said if i start i never can't escape from it, well she was right. It changed my interest about the idol animes, if it would possible i'd give more than 10 point. I watched every series and movie from the franchise, and i can't say nothing negative. Never was anime what i live in it myself. The characters was made very well, i can't choose my favorite from them i love all girls from the whole franchise as same. I can't complain not even the musics, they well written, after hundred of listening them still enjoying.

This one surprised me quite a bit and it ended up being a lot better than I was expecting it to be. As it turns out Love Live has actual plot, character development and more put into it and wasn't just some show that was just slice of life with fanservice thrown in and it called a day. After spending years putting off watching the show due to stigma I do not regret watching this season. While at times it can be cringe and silly it has its feel good moments and its sad moments. The songs are surprisingly catchy and the cast leaves a memorable impression quite well. Shame the 3D scenes are horrible and choppy looking.

Love Live School Idol project is beautiful. I just finished Season 1 today, and the show was great! There are memorable flashbacks, emotional scenes, twice I almost cried. In the later episodes, Love Live School Idol Project has vibes from the earlier episodes when Muse was still in its early stages of development. They bring back those moments, it was just so heartwarming when they show flashbacks, and when Muse performed where Honoka, Kotori and Umi hosted their first school idol performance... Love Live School Idol Project also has a valuable message of never giving up. No matter what happens, never give up on your goals and dreams. If you want to get more out of this valuable message and heartwarming scenes, what are you waiting for? Go watch Love Live School Idol Project already!

Love Live was a refreshing and fun show to watch, leaving me rejuvenated after having watched it. What really sold the show was the exceptionally likable cast of characters. Each girl was unique and added something important to the group, and the second season even goes as far as to develop the girls that didn't get as much screen time in the first season. Also, dat choreography on dem dance sequences. The CGI was a little off-putting at first, but it's not so bad in the second season. I even came to like it by the end. Regardless, choreographed dance sequences like these are not something I have seen in anime before, and not surprisingly, they were one of the highlights of the anime. And I can't end this review without mentioning the soundtrack. Being a show about music and dancing, the…

I swear to god, when I tell you this anime changed my life I mean it. It quite literally opened my mind to finding out who I am, introduced me to idol culture, made me realize I was a lesbian, and allowed me to get into a workout regimen all at once. Outstanding writing, character arcs, relatable cast, and adorable character design. Although some of the choreography is kinda lazy, I don’t even care. Such a good anime, 10/10, would recommend even to someone that doesn’t like this genre. Now, although I love this anime, there is but one flaw. The Nico stans that came from it. I swear to god those bitches are the most annoying ass fucks. I was watching a lyrics video for a love live song and they were talking about how cute the characters looked in the outfits and this guy has the audacity to…
