I mean... it's not the worst show ever but there's also really nothing good about it?
Music is absolutely unremarkable. I don't tend to watch idolshit but it sounds like a bland "who gives a shit, we're doing this for an original anime" vibe. The only song I remember is Lily's and that's because of how clunky the lyrics in the first verse were.
Animation is whatever until they do idolshit and it turns into 3D. It's not, like, awful I guess but it stuck out and didn't even have the dignity to be funny.
The characters are super underbaked.
Koutarou is a fucking dickhead whose comedic value is "lol, look at this wacky random thing he's doing" and/or screaming. And he's a dick to the zombies... why? They tease him and Sakura together but ignoring any necrophilia complications (because only…

Found this while on a brief zombie girl stint one October. The first episode has a hilarious setup (you may have seen the memes) that leads to an interesting premise.
Honestly I enjoyed this series most during the first two or three episodes when the group was still struggling to get their footing. After those first few episodes though it pretty much turns into generic idol/cgdct stuff which isn’t really my thing. If you are interested in that type of stuff then you should probably watch it, otherwise I can’t guarantee what your experience will be like. For me it was good enough to keep me entertained for the full season, but I definitely felt my interest waning about halfway through. It feels like the whole zombie part gets set aside for later, leaving some loose ends. It manages a pret…

Zombieland Saga is a very quirky 2018 Idol anime that despite having Zombie in the title has very little to do with zombies whatsoever.
Starting off with the plot, Again despite being an anime with "Zombie" in the title this anime has very, VERY, little to do with zombies, the only plot relevance is that all of the main characters are zombies so don't go into this expecting a Horror esc slashing zombies people dying anime. The plot is that Sakura (The Main Character) Gets hit by a truck, (Isekai style) And then she becomes a zombie! Truly crazy stuff. She then meets nine other zombies all collected together by this crazy dude named "Tatsumi" He says that they are all going to become idols and save Saga! (Japanese Province I think) And the rest of the show is just their adventures as they…

This is a review of seasons 1 and 2
I am SO happy I went into this without knowing if they were actual zombies or if it was just the aesthetic of their group. This is truly a one of a kind show in such an oversaturated genre! It's stinkin hilarious as well as having some legitimate tearjerkers near the end of the series. The 3D dance segments aren't great, as is often the case with idol shows (besides iM@S). But the main appeal comes from the character interactions off the stage, so it really didn't bug me all that much.
Also WHO the fruit was casting this show!? Because I wanna know how someone had the audacity to ask the legendary Kotono Mitsuishi, aka SAILOR STINKIN MOON to be in a stinkin IDOL show only to have her character exclusively talk in grunts and groans and not speak or sin…

This show should be called "Why Have You Not Had This Conversation Yet?: The Anime".
When putting characters together from different time periods you will naturally, in Episode 2 at the latest, have "This Conversation" that I referenced before - that being the realization that their lives as they knew them are over, uncertainty about the time they find themselves in and their futures, and so much more (such as actually getting to know each other before each girl's designated episode). There would be immediate drama, conflict, and wonder. What does the girl from 1870ish think about the modern era? Does she find everyone's manner of speech too casual and slangy? Perhaps she thinks modern outfits are unnecessarily revealing and dishonorable. These are just some of the conversations that shou…

One of the best dubs I've ever watched!! The store was very unique nothing like you've ever watched before, I thought it was going to be a generic idle anime but the fact that the girls are zombies is a twist. I love the neo art style anime. I love hearing the protagonists og stories. You will definitely enjoy this short anime!! All of the characters are very endearing and you may relate to the characters of the story. The show is amazing and the manager is hilarious yet sleazy. I love the references to chickens and all of the old jobs the characters have had in the past of their lives.

Oh uh, this is my first time reviewing an anime series. Honestly, I'm confused about where to start, let's get straight to the point, starting from the animation.
So to be honest, from the first season's animation, I wasn't satisfied with the CGI, what can I say, the movements seemed stiff, but maybe it's natural that it's connected to the story when they were still amateur idols. but apart from that, the animation apart from CGI is really stunning, plus their change from zombies to human form, is really different! so season 1 animation rating: 7.8
So, continue with the song. Which idol anime has the songs that aren't good? It's clear that the songs in this anime are really good! Especially the song "Mezame Returner". Their chorus when singing too, because they are different and that is…

I came in with certain expectations regarding this Anime. And those expectations were not met. But instead, my expectations were exceeded! This show turned out to be wholesome, hilarious, and emotional! Each of the girls have their own unique and interesting backgrounds and backstories! The sometimes subtle nuggets of their past sprinkled throughout the show really leaves you wanting more. Not to mention, the characters that we grow
to love throughout the series carry their own weight, each one of their personalities shining through and not overlapping or feeling dull compared to the rest of the girls. Not to mention, the trans representation in this show was a nice touch! Overall, I recommend this anime to anyone looking for an interesting and light hearted anime to get into!

This one was actually very surprising, leaving aside the plot of itself this one is a idol anime that i dont usually seen normally.
very funny and even inspiring to the end.
the music, the voices, the rythm, everything was really genius.
First of all, this is Sakura, the protagonist, she is really well defined as a person, she really makes you connect with her, especially after hearing about her past, she is my favorite.
As the story progresses, the management of the group is interesting, as they usually progress as a unit, there were no parts of the story where there was some kind of plot hole, leaving aside the theme of resurrection and zombies of course. lol
The individual stories of each member are well told and even have messages of reflection, in none of them the plot weakens, it…

I would like to start off by apologizing for my first harsh review of a 5.99/10 for this series, after a second viewing, this show is definitely a lot better than I remember. The story is very unique by combining zombies and cute anime girls who have to save the Saga Prefecture by becoming local idols. Despite my hesitance with music anime (which is probably why I gave a harsh review originally), this has become my all time favorite in this genre. The beginning of the series was hilarious with Sakura meeting her end as the show starts. The end of this season was good, cliche but good. Overall, the execution was done amazing by MAPPA. The animation was great, however the annoying trend of seeing character's eyes/eyebrows through their hair is frustrating to look at, as well as the 3D animat…

Where have you been all my life?
Zombie Land Saga is the first case in anime I find to be an underrated gem. When you first look at the name, you may be expecting this to be just another horror show, but then you jump into the first episode and see that the zombies are the protagonists of this anime.
First, I really love the word play with this title. Saga is a synonym for story, but it's also the name of a prefecture in the Kyushu region of Japan, which is where Zombie Land Saga takes place in. The story is centered around seven girls, who have met an unfortunate demise, resurrected as zombi…

Alright, let's get one thing straight: I usually sidestep idol anime like it's hot lava in a childhood game of "the floor is lava". But this one? Totally caught me off-guard. Combine idol girls with a sprinkle of undead, toss them in a blender from different eras, and voila! A concoction I never knew I needed.
Hesitantly, I clicked expecting the usual sugar-coated idol performances. Instead, I found myself in a whirlwind of undead hilarity, mishaps that made me spit out my drink, and a manager whose energy is... let's say otherworldly.
The animation? Top-tier. Concert scenes? Actually fire. The music? Catchy with a twist, and not the generic type either. It has layers, just like the decomposing characters who sing it.
Beyond the comedic value, the show pulls at your heartstrings. It’s n…

Zombieland saga is a unique parody of an idol show with zombies instead of high school girls as the main group of idols. It excels at certain parts, but also fails at certain parts, though it was still an enjoyable watch nonetheless.
Let's start with the good parts. The show has a great focus on its characters, which is something you rarely see in shows with a huge female cast, such as idol, CGDCT, SOL shows etc. The first few episodes introduces us to the bizarre cast of characters, all with different backgrounds and even from different time periods. The best character though is hands down the manager of the group of idols. From the first few episodes I was already in love with the chaotic energy from him, yet you can still feel his strong determination to help the idol group achieve suc…

"Not sure what the audience is but fun to watch"
So this anime is definitely a more unique one in the last few years in my opinion, it is one of those where the audience honestly is really unclear to me. With that said, that's what makes this anime fun to watch. Legit, the synopsis really is the anime, so you can expect the musical, zombie, slice of life elements described. Watching this idk if it was made for kids, or thirteen year old girls, or adults, but I think you can get a kick out of it at whatever age and identity you are--if you don't think about it too hard. I'd recommend to watch if you want to try something new and watch just for its own sake!

Zombieland Saga
If you like Idol anime, this show will be an interesting and possibly unique experience. If you don’t, you might want to give this a try if you like slice of life, or cute zombies.
Characters – 8/10
The characters are one of the strongest elements of this anime. Almost every character, with the exception of Tae and Yuugiri, have thorough story arcs or explanations. They’re not complex which is probably a good thing; they’re layered however, and a lot of fun. The side characters, often being family members of the undead zombies, are great as well, a lot having their own stories and arcs. It was not necessary to expand upon these characters, but they did, creating a lot of emotional moments for us and the main characters.
Animation & Art – 6/10
The animation is simple and…

This is a 6/10 show that feels like an 8/10.
On one hand, it is a trashy idol show with all of the tropes and character types you'd expect from one. On the other, a lot of love and care has been put into this show, and quite frankly it toes the line of being absolutely genius with its presentation and an absolute pile of moe-shounen garbage.
Having watched this show twice now, I can confidently say it manages to tight rope that line so well that while I am grinning my face off at the jokes and characters I also have that post-episode clarity that leaves me feeling guilty that I'm actually enjoying an idol show.
HOWEVER, I still fully recommend this show simply because of how well-executed it is overall. Just know if you recommend this to anyone you are officially that one friend who is…

While in the beginning it was interesting and the more character focused episodes were intriguing, the show felt quite boring and disjointed. I almost dropped it a little under halfway through.
While it feels like it is trying to be a satire of the idol genre, it doesn't do much to distinguish from them and just plays into it outside of a few gags and design choices.
Also the lack of cohesion in the music is really strange as they're supposed to be a music group. First you think it is going to be some form of metal, then rap, but it eventually devolves into the normal idol songs but without any of the goodness that comes from it.

Not really into idol shows going into this, and I still don't really think I am after. It's interesting finding out the weird trope of like, everyone going on stage to do a performance and fix everything in like, Angel Beats for example, is apparently an idol thing.
One of my big problems with idols is how like, the idol industry fucking sucks, and how loudly these kinds of shows just ignore it. Like, just like in the show, a lot of the time the people in these idol training programs are abused, are barely there on their own will if at all, participate knowingly in an extremely toxic + exploitative relationship with their fans, etc. The show contains all these aspects of idol culture, but just signs right passed them. Like 99% of Shades's relationship with them is emotional abuse cut and d…

Zombieland Saga takes the 2018 Award for show that really shouldn't work but does
Basically, you have Hououin Kyouma putting together a ragtag team of zombie girls
so they can become an idol group on paper, you're like who the fuck thought this was a good idea?
Yet somehow, these were some of the funnest opening episodes I've seen.
You got death metal idols, you got a fucking 8-Mile rap battle scene, You have truck-kun back at it again smashing more girls than any of us ever will. You've got an opening that somehow rivals JoJo for most stylish OP of all.
You got fucking Mamoru Miyano sounding like he is having way too much fun delivering every single line.
If you came here to get scared, this isnt the right place, but if you want to be entertai…

Honestly I don't really know what to say other than that this is really fun to watch.
It's definitely not the best anime on the planet, with animation unlike any other or a plot that is breathtaking, overall it's good simply just because it is an extremely fun and entertaining watch. Despite these being dead characters as they are literal zombies, no surprise there, beyond that being kinda dark to an extent the actual anime is loveable and lighthearted. It's easy to binge and just enjoy for the sake of watching something gun I even found myself smiling and laughing at the silliness of it.
