Little Witch Academia

Little Witch Academia

Introduction

"A believing heart is your magic!"—these were the words that Atsuko "Akko" Kagari's idol, the renowned witch Shiny Chariot, said to her during a magic performance years ago. Since then, Akko has lived by these words and aspired to be a witch just like Shiny Chariot, one that can make people smile. Hence, even her non-magical background does not stop her from enrolling in Luna Nova Magical Academy. However, when an excited Akko finally sets off to her new school, the trip there is anything but smooth. After her perilous journey, she befriends the shy Lotte Yansson and the sarcastic Sucy Manbavaran. To her utmost delight, she also discovers Chariot's wand, the Shiny Rod, which she takes as her own. Unfortunately, her time at Luna Nova will prove to be more challenging than Akko could ever believe. She absolutely refuses to stay inferior to the rest of her peers, especially to her self-proclaimed rival, the beautiful and gifted Diana Cavendish, so she relies on her determination to compensate for her reckless behavior and ineptitude in magic. In a time when wizardry is on the decline, Little Witch Academia follows the magical escapades of Akko and her friends as they learn the true meaning of being a witch. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

TALENTLESS AKKO AND THE OTHER SCHOOLGIRL WITCHES Little Witch Academia doesn’t take itself too seriously, and that’s part of its charm. It’s silly, goofy, and looks "shiny". The animation is easily its strongest point, it's fluid, flashy, and full of passion. The story does have plenty of plot conveniences and a few plot holes, especially in the second half, so don’t expect anything too serious. Akko can be pretty annoying, and I honestly think Lotte or Sucy would’ve been better leads. Croix’s character is also underwhelming, while Diana looks like a classic Mary Sue. Sucy is easily the best girl. Her subtle jabs at Akko never get old. 😂 The Shiny Chariot twist about dream fuel was also a nice surprise.

This was super fun! Akko is such an endearing protagonist, I was worried that I would get bothered with her, but you end up truly feeling for Akko, her determination is infectious. My only real gripes are some pacing issues, and a few moments being predictable. To the latter i do credit good foreshadowing and still making said moments captivating when the characters go through them for not letting it drag down my experience! It's bright, colorful, and a feel-good show to sit down and binge. The art style is also lovely! I highly reccomend giving it a chance if you have not.

This is where Little Witch Academia really had the time to become what it was supposed to be. More episodes, more characters, more magic, and, most importantly, more opportunities for Akko to prove that having absolutely no idea what you're doing has never stopped anyone with enough confidence. I genuinely love the energy of this anime. It's colorful, funny, and full of that childhood sense of wonder, but what makes it work for me is Akko herself. She can be frustrating, reckless, and completely incapable of listening to good advice, yet you can't help rooting for her. It's not the most groundbreaking magical anime out there, but it has something many technically "better" shows lack: charm. Little Witch Academia feels like a warm, chaotic magical adventure, and sometimes that's exactly wha…

It was one of the most enjoyable animes I've ever watched. I really had a fun time with those precisous cute witchies. I laughed, I cried, I got tense, then I laughed a bit more. The main lesson this anime try to teach us is to never give up and always do our best, no matter the adversities we have to face. We only live once so let's enjoy it the most as we can. It sounds pretty simple, but that's what it is, a simple anime with a lot fun and inspirational moments, ideal to watch with your family. The story is simply, the main character Akko watched a performance of a very popular entertainer witch called Shiny Chariot. That performance was a so meaninful that it instantly become Akko's dream: become a strong witch so she can met with Shiny Chariot to say how much she inspired her. The…

Another original from Studio Trigger. Unlike *Kill la Kill*, I liked this anime right from the start, since it had great comedy that I enjoyed, so I breezed through the first half in a flash. Unfortunately, starting in the second half, it stopped being fun for me, and I had a really hard time getting back into it; fighting my way through to the end felt like crawling under barbed wire. It feels like I subconsciously knew that the second half wouldn't be as spectacular as the first, so I stopped watching it. With most anime, as soon as I stop watching halfway through, it's a sign that it won't be as good as it was up to that point. It’s a shame that the plot doesn’t really get going until the second half, and personally, I found it unnecessary; they should have kept it plot-free and full…

I really enjoyed Little Witch Academia! The story itself isn’t super complicated or surprising — it’s pretty predictable at times — but that didn’t bother me because I liked the overall vibe and the magical school setting. Akko can be kind of annoying at first since she’s so impulsive and clumsy, but I ended up rooting for her a lot because you can see her growing and learning from her mistakes. The other characters are fun too — Lotte and Sucy have these quirky personalities that make the episodes feel lively, and even the “side” students feel distinct enough that the school feels alive. The animation is honestly one of the best parts. Studio Trigger’s style is bright, smooth, and full of energy, and it matches the magical, whimsical tone perfectly. Even the smaller details, like spell e…

The madlads at Trigger have done it again. Carrying on the spirit of the trailblazers at Gainax, they have taken their magic touch and put it towards the magical girl genre with a likable protagonist with a can-do defiant attitude squaring up against a prideful yet ultimately virtuous untouchable class president. The animation is beautiful and the sound fits the scenes like a glove. The fanservice surprisingly- Oh, wait wait, sorry, this is my script for Kill la Kill. Let's try this again. --- What a piece of shit. Prior to this, in addition to the good Trigger shows I had seen, I saw Darling in the Franxx and was pretty disappointed, even if it had a heart and something to say and things I liked about the show beyond Trigger's animation. This? This genuinely has nothing beyond the a…

I didn't think I would like this show. I looked to be too cutesy and schmaltzy for my old jaded ass. But I tried it and I'm glad I did. It won me over. By the time I reached the end I didn't want it to end. I was having too much fun. Not all the characters are developed but they don't have to be, they filled the function they were to be used for. It does get a little schmaltzy sometimes, but not so much that it bothered me. Overall, I'm really glad I watched this and it has become a new favorite.

Absolutely adored this. From the art to the characters to the storyline to the relationship between Akko and Diana, I really have no complaints! This was such a comfy and comfortable watch that entertained me greatly, would totally watch it again. I'd heard a lot of people talking about it before I started watching it and sort of thought it was another magical girl or Harry Potter rip-off, but it was actually excellent and much better than both in my eyes. I frankly cannot think of anything I didn't like about this. The character development is amazing, the storyline is very decent, the animation is cute, I recommend it to anyone who thinks they would like a cute witchy anime with a mostly female cast

Disclaimer: The following review/analysis is geared towards those who have finished watching the anime and OVA (short film), and therefore will contain spoilers. --- This anime and setting is absolutely horrible and immoral. I'll say it again, the "little witch academia" anime is the worst anime in the history of mankind. I thought the worst anime in the world was "guyver". But it turns out, there's a person who made an anime that's much more bad and immoral than "guyver" - the author of the OVA and the "little witch academia" anime. I don't know what the author of the "little witch academia" setting worked on for three years, after releasing the disgusting OVA (the first anime movie) based on the "little witch academia" setting - no "error work" was done. But, in the "little witch acad…

cannot understand how some people still say the OVAs were better in story and this is coming from someone who was there watching the OVAs from the very beginning. maybe i'm just incredibly biased though because chariot/croix changed my life at 14... myanimelist is forcing me to write more so this can be published even though i positively suck at writing out thoughts in specific guidelines so if you were a fan of a Certain Wizard Franchise made by a transphobic racist hack as a child that was let down later in life as the realities of said franchise and the views of its author grew clearer in view over time, you should watch this. it's in no way perfect but the joy and whimsy felt while watching is truly unmatched still.

Cheesy, wholesome, and generally enjoyable. There are some weak points such as a large amount of plot progression revolving around Akko making new short-sighted and poorly thought out decisions very frequently, and a couple jokes not really landing or relying on secondhand embarrassment, but if you make the choice to buy in to the premise and the characters, this series will definitely give you some emotions. The climactic moments and new achievements don't always feel thoroughly earned by Akko, but at the end of the day it's still aimed at kids and still has some very strong scenes of you don't mind feeling a little silly for enjoying it. The animation in these moments is stellar, and they really went all out on making the magic feel, well, magical. These moments are what keep you investe…

This was a cute series. It was a standard magical girl series. Adorable character, strong female characters, power of friendship, magic, etc. It took it to the next level with the plot twist at the end. I highly recommend this series. It's easy enough for everyone to get into and enjoy. The only issue is that the personalities are a bit cliche, and the MC can be a bit much. Though the MC is also adorable, so it could help with the overbearing aspects of his personality. The personalities are a bit cliche, but they're still enjoyable. The art style is cute and fits the series.

Definitely recommended if you are looking for a light hearted, fun little anime to fill your time with. This anime feels so nostalgic, like the kind of anime I would have adored as a kid. There are silly characters, a decent enough plot line and some great humour here. It has a really nice mix of humour, fantasy and a touch of nostalgia. This is one of those animes where you can sort of switch of your brain and enjoy the ride. Not every anime needs to have a genius plotline and flawless writing. This is just one of those animes you can just relax and enjoy without thinking too hard, but entertaining enough that you will want to continue watching. The MC is a little annoying at first (typical sort of shounen protagonist) but her wild antics and lack of braincells certainly grows on you.…

And then there's the TV show. Just in the interest of sorting out some housekeeping, if you're wondering in what order to watch the Little Witch Academia franchise, you can easily watch it all in the order of release. In fact, that is recommended. The OVA and movie are direct sequels and part of the same continuity. The TV show, however, reboots the story and changes some details of the premise and some of the characters' personalities get subtly altered. As such, fear not, the OVA and movie are not canon to the series and consequently don't spoil anything. They do, however, introduce some characters you will encounter in the TV incarnation that the studio will assume you're already familiar with. That is why watching the OVA and movie in beforehand is advisable. After witnessing people's…

Do people watch this and choose to like it? The main character Atsuko is super annoying, completely useless, and downright disrespectful to everyone. She manages to ruin everyone's day and still be mad at them when they get angry at her. I have no idea why someone would make the MC this unlikable. in the end, I just ended up rooting for Diana. The story is very predictable but sometimes manages to go above and beyond to make the story even more pointless and annoying. Characters are badly written, and most of them have no soul. Don't waste your time on this. But if you decide to watch it then do a drinking game and take shots every time when the MC says "Just like Chariot”.

While I am always very critical of shows released by Netflix, especially anime, I am also fair especially in regards to shows it produces that do work well, and I am the first to admit this is one of them. Little Witch Academia creates a very compelling world that can provide for a very interesting and enjoyable watching experience. That combined with interesting and unique visuals (which can be a hit or miss whether or not a Netflix anime will receive the "copy/paste" style or something unique), and a very competently made soundtrack provides a show with what I consider to be a slightly above average quality. However, beyond it's pretty visuals and animation quality sadly lies a rather generic and shallow story, filled with plot contrivances, a weak protagonist, and a weak antagonist. A…

The most slept on anime of all time. I seriously cannot understand hard pressed people about this series. Yes it may lack I'm strength in it's plot yes it may be predictable but have you ever had so much fun and sparkle in your eye just as if you were a child again watching an anime? It is an incredibly fun anime to watch without thinking too much, the animation is (as always) absolutely amazing. Maybe if all you watch is seinen or all you care about is how full life is, you won't find this to be your favorite. Absolutely appalling that this is even below 8. I will defend this series ever since the movies.

As a fan of Edgar Wright, I always believe that the power of "visual language" is greater than that of "story script", and animation performance and storyboarding are TRIGGER's forte. Whether it's the interaction of the characters, the performance of magic, or the mecha that TRIGGER never forgets (I'm shocked that they took the opportunity to add this element into it), I can safely say that watching LMA gave me a good viewing experience. Of course, that doesn't mean the script isn't important. For some reason, TRIGGER's works are always filled with a taste of "lack of polishing". It's as if they suddenly decided to start animation directly when they were halfway through the worldview design. Judging from the script, Little Witch Academia feels to me like the Big O that I finished watchi…

Little Witch Academia This anime sets a great example for all the others, showing how with an almost unlimited concept, it still manages to waste all its potential and simply create subpar results. On the outside, Little Witch Academia looks like a promising work. Animations, drawing style, colorful depictions you could almost think "This is going to be THIS anime!" but no, it's just a bluff. Through this concept you had a limitless reserve of creative actions that could have been accomplished, there are no limitations here. Everything can be as irrational and bizarre as you want. And yet they decided that this anime is simply a witch version of Sailor Moon or Wedding Peach. With this I can practically explain how bad the dialogue has been, it's practically been an oversized play. Amo…
