Kaleido Star

Introduction

The Kaleido Stage is known throughout the world for captivating audiences with its amazing acrobatics, innovative routines, and extravagant costumes and sets. It is a place for guests to believe in magic, and Sora Naegino wants nothing more than to be a part of that magic—by becoming an acrobat for the famed circus herself. To realize her dream, she travels from Japan to California to audition for a place in the group. However, Sora learns that she needs much more than her natural talent to bring joy to the faces in the crowd. She quickly discovers just how difficult it is to be a professional performer where the stakes—and the stunts—are higher and mistakes spell danger! To put on performances worthy of the Kaleido Stage, she will need to endure rigorous training, unconventional assignments, fierce competition, and the antics of a mischievous spirit named Fool. Can Sora reach new heights, make new friends, conquer her fears, and surpass her limits to become a Kaleido Star? [Written by MAL Rewrite]

This was so cool, I wish circuses were real. All kidding aside, I came in with high hopes - you can't be a shoujo fan and NOT watch the anime CrunchyRoll says was directed by Junichi Sato. So I expected it to be, at least, good...and it was so much better. Seriously - they just don't make 'em like this anymore. For those of you that are into shoujo but not boy-meets-girl type stuff, this one's for you. I think this could most accurately be described as a shoujo sports anime. The pacing here is incredible - the writer has a great sense of how to create the perfect amount of tension. Sora will usually pick up a big win at the start of the episode - but it will always be chased by some new, crueler failure. Sometimes we're forced to sit with that failure for multiple episodes...which make…

Ver…

Kaleido Star is a performance arts anime that combines many different performance-based crafts and puts them into one. The show takes elements of western theatrics, gymnastics, acrobatics, and combines them all into a unique product that has never been seen before. The main character, Sora Naegino, moves to America to pursue her dreams in being able to perform on stage, and eventually try to rise to the top. The premise of combining multiple performance arts is already cool, but the most interesting thing about the show is how they go about showing these different aspects to the audience. A whole show can be dedicated in going into the nitty-gritty of the structure of an individual craft, but that's admittedly very boring for viewers who aren't super interested to begin with. What Kaleid…

A figure floats gracefully against the backdrop of a lavender sky. She ascends, her upright posture and outstretched arms impervious to the accumulating draft of wind. She twists in circles, as she soars with fabric wings that cut through the air, slowly drifting to the stage. She lands and takes a bow. Welcome to the wonderful world of Kaleido Star, where dazzling colors and moving performances are the norms. The stage is a warm and ebullient place where dreams are made and realized, but beneath this, it is a suffocating and cruel battlefield, displaying in full force the foolishness, jealousy, loneliness, and happiness that are found in striving for ideals—Kaleido Star is not one to portray stardom as merely glamorous and flashy. Yet, there is a certain hopefulness underneath this painf…

Right now, it's 11.30 pm, I'm lying in my bed, drowning in sadness. Why? I'm repeatedly asking myself this. Everything good must come to an end. That's what they said. But why Kaleido Star had to end, how can I adore their journey from now on. I feel so empty... There's something extremely captivating about people following their dream to me. I have watched countless Idol shows for that reason alone. So when Nagieno Sora starts pursuing her dream to be a top star in Kaleido Circus. The largest entertainment group in the world. I felt in love completely. There's never any easy road to the top, Sora is not an exceptions. But the more hardships, however extreme the show can get, she along with everyone around her shined more brightly than ever. I never thought seeing someone else trying coul…

Can’t talk on behalf of anyone else, but successive quarantines were rough on me; however, I believe they also acted as a catalyst to a sort of rebirth. As I tried living life no matter what, faced much of my darker nature and reassessed my life and its direction, I realized that outside survival I often did not truly live. So, what did I need for my life to have better quality? I craved reclaiming and redefining what truly matters to me. To experience again what I considered foregranted. To face challenges bravely rather than feel like running a pointless uphill struggle. To give birth to a newfound joy for living and to direct my moral compass towards what truly matters. How Kaleido Star is even related to this? I believe there might be few shows that encompass everything on what it m…

Cheerful, optimistic, vibrant, colorful, heartwarming - these are some words to describe Kaleido Star. It would be a lie to say that Kaleido Star is perfect, but every episode leaves you with a smile on your face, wanting to see more. It is the journey of Sora Naegino, an optimistic, energetic and down-to-earth young girl, who aspires to become a star on the Kaleido Stage - a world-famous american artistic theater. It is without a doubt the strong cast that holds this Anime together. Soras magnetic personality and her ability to not only change herself but also her surroundings (her friends, her parents, her co-workers, her audience) is what makes a great part of why Kaleido Star is so enjoyable to watch. But it's not just Sora, the whole cast consists of many, many different characters…

What defines a masterpiece? Well, for me it isn’t something that is objectively perfect, it’s something that I find enough personal significance in point that I could consider it subjectively perfect. Kaleido Star may not have the prettiest dress at the ball, it might not appear or sound unique, but the way it pulls together all of its elements makes it so much more than the sum of its parts. Perhaps some people may not get the same experience that I got from Kaleido Star, but it does have undeniable strengths that captivated me through 51 fulfilling episodes. Passionate people worked on this and created a product of consistent quality, so why have so few people watched it? Well, the answer is probably that 51 episodes show with a seemingly female target audience is something many peop…

This is my first review, as time goes I will learn new things and of course I will update this review.I will talk about the different aspects that the series has and how it uses them. Kaleido Star is a series made by Gonzo in 2003, basically a slice of life with a famous circus as a setting, this scenario makes Kaleido Star something unique because there are not many series with a scenario like this in this medium, but that's not the main reason why this is a good series, what makes it a good series then? Let's find out. Characters / History: What Kaleido Star wants to tell is a story of self overcoming and the seek of fulfill your dreams ,even if they look imposible .The main protagonist of the story is Sora Naegino and she is who mainly takes this theme throughout the series, she of co…

The graceful motions of the swings, the dazzling lights of the stage, the crowd cheering with delight. These are some of the spectacular imageries of Kaleido Star, a phenomenal story about a young acrobat who reaches her dream through sheer dedication and practice. Facing countless challenges only to overcome them all, she rises higher and higher until the circus tents—no, the sky itself—could no longer limit her reach. The premise of Kaleido Star will probably be one of the most down-to-earth synopsis you’ll ever read, but such familiarity is what gives the show its peculiar charm. Aliens, ninjas, and fifty-feet kaiju are lacking here; instead, the story follows an ordinary teenage Japanese girl who moves to California to pursue her dream of becoming a world-famous acrobat. Kaleido Star…

Here's something that's hard to find; a shoujo anime that doesn't have magical girls or romance in it. Kaleido Star follows the adventures of a girl named Sora on her quest to become a great trapeze artist. Story 7/10 Every episode, or story arc, involves Sora having to overcome some kind of challenge or learn a lesson on her way to becoming a star. What I like about the story is how the show has a lot of likable characters and funny moments, most of them with Sora, which make watching an episode a lot of fun. Furthermore, because the show has a whole 51 episodes to work with, we get to see Sora's quest to become a star from beginning to end. In the early episodes, Sora only gets bit parts in the circus's shows and has to start from the bottom, but by the later episodes Sora's getting…

This anime is one of the most underrated and most under appreciated anime of all time. The story is wonderful, the character is an inspiration, and it's got some pretty amazing animation. The story is good and it inspires people to go for their dreams, while at the same time showing the harsh reality that you can't simply "wish" for your dream to come true, you've got to work, and suffer, and go through a lot but in the end it's worth while!

Due to the fact that this is a 2003 and 2004 anime, I would most definitely give it a 10. haha for some reason older animes have better plot lines (just found out recently). To be quite honest at first the anime didn't seem interesting... and i'm not really into an anime that has quite a lot of episodes... though when I kept watching it, there was no doubt that I couldn't stop. Story: Amazing, by far the most detailed and well planned out story i've seen. Everything had a moment, a conflict, a climax. It's exactly how an actual story is suppose to be seen. Art: Though I did prefer Sora and her partner to look a bit better, I'm pretty sure i'm fretting about the hair, I did love everything else of the art of the main character's surrounds, friends, and the way their movements were phenom…

I really enjoy anime about characters with a passion for something, resulting in them pursuing and then excelling at what they love. That said, that's what makes Kaleido Star an inspiring anime. It's fun, it's funny, it portrays the important of working hard toward what you want and believing in yourself. Nothing in life comes easy, not even what you're good at. This is one of my favorite animes, and I've rewatched it. It's lighthearted, exciting, and you find yourself rooting for the characters. If you like sports anime, or stories about the underdog, then you'll like this. It's just cute and will make you happy.

This is a classic for me, I loved every bit of this show, it had suspense, drama, comedy, and everything that I adore in an anime. From the opening music, to the ending music, I just could not get enough. I cried in some parts, and then found myself laughing in others. It's long but well worth the watch, the beautiful art work was eye catching, and very appealing. Each episode contains so much detail when it comes to the story and character development that its no wonder I became addicted to the show, and still to this day I would recommend this to anyone.

Took me a while to work up the nerve to finish this. Kaleido Star appeared to be aimed for a younger audience with its "doing your best" style story focused on Sora's rise to fame with the Kaleido Stage troupe. The story itself is a decent one as Sora struggles throughout the course of the series to gain the trust of those involved with Kaleido Stage, rise to become the troupe's main star and having a number of dilemmas come along that challenge her bright and optimistic outlook on experiencing the joys of performing with Kaleido Stage. There is a good amount of focus on many of the characters involved in Kaleido Stage and their interactions with Sora, as the show's various characters serve to either aid, test or deter Sora in her efforts to be a successful performer. Outside of Sora, thes…

"I'm gonna do it! Do it! Do it!" is Sora's motto. The first time I watched Kaleido Star I was nine, it was the first anime I have ever seen. I was always outside with my friends but when Kaleido Star was starting, I would always run back home to see every episode. I often got into fights with my best friends because I left them like that, but I didn't care. When I was watching Kaleido Star, I had the best feeling. Even now, when I'm watching the show 3rd time I have the same feelings, though I already know how it is gonna end. A year ago I decided to start watching it again, since I believed that I didn't see every episode when I was younge as I didn't really know the hour it begun. To my surprise, I remembered every episode. If you want to know if it's worth wasting your time watching K…
