Looking for the Full Moon

Looking for the Full Moon

Introduction

Two years ago, Mitsuki Kouyama's friend, Eichi Sakurai, moved to America before she could confess her feelings to him. Though she cannot contact him, they made a promise to fulfill their respective dreams: Mitsuki wants to become a professional singer, and Eichi an astronomer. She hopes that one day her music will reach him across the world with a brilliance like that of the full moon. There is just one catch: Mitsuki suffers from throat cancer, which makes her voice quiet and singing strenuous. Her grandmother, who has a hatred of music, insists that Mitsuki undergo surgery to remove the cancer, but she refuses due to the risk of losing her voice. One day, two shinigami—Meroko Yui and Takuto Kira—appear to tell her that she only has one year left to live. This sudden revelation spurs Mitsuki into action, and she decides that with Meroko and Takuto's help, she will become a professional singer in the time she has left. Full Moon wo Sagashite follows the emotional story of Mitsuki and her shinigami friends as they discover what it means to sing—and ultimately, what it means to live. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

I have a sentimental relationship with Full Moon o Sagashite. I bought all the manga volumes as they were coming out and enjoyed the series immensely. I still own those manga volumes to this day and have no intention of getting rid of them. However, my attempts to watch the anime didn't pan out. I only made it to episode 10 before stopping due to other obligations like school. It wasn't until this year that I finally managed to complete the anime, and only because AnimEigo licensed it for a complete blu-ray release for the first time ever. Viz Media once attempted to release the series on DVD, complete with an English dub, but low sales made them stop halfway through, and many thought the second half of the series just never got dubbed, or if it did, it'd be lost forever. Imagine peoples'…

How do I even start this? Searching for the Full Moon is my favorite anime of all time. First, the premise is super interesting; you would think that telling the audience that the main character is going to die in one year would make us care less about her. But the way the story is structured does the opposite; every decision she makes adds weight. You can feel the tension in every mistake she makes. The balance between chasing her dreams, trying to find her past lover, and spending time with her family is so wonderfully done because she doesn't have the time to do all of these. So she has to pick and choose what is most important to her. This show will likely make you cry, more than once. The premise is emotional and heavy, yet Mitsuki's charming personality balances it out really well.…

Hands down, Full Moon wo Sagashite might be one of the best Shoujo anime I might have seen out there. Maybe even could go as far as nominating it one of the better titles I have ever seen in the whole of the anime medium. Because seriously, if I had to point at a flaw this series have it would be no doubt how its first episodes feel kinda "rushed" and "badly done" for how a generally complex and emotionally charged story such as this one is (not to say they are necessarly bad, just "less enjoyable", let's say, to overall how good the later half of the series's episodes feel), other than that, its pretty much flawless on whatever it proposes to do. Its history? Heavy and emotional, sprinked here and there with some moments of hapiness. I have heard people complaining about this anime havi…

Spoiler-less, TL;DR, fast, simple, and easy-to-digest review: Live, Sing, Full Moon 4/10 Animation? Ok (+) Good cutesy artstyle and serviceable animation, although, nothing remarkable. It is fine during that time. Characters? Good (++) Most characters are well fleshed out. The main cast, which are Miyuki, Takuto, and Meroko, have good character dynamic, synergy, and character growth overtime. Although, there are some negatives to them but it is not possible to tell those here without spoiling... but lemme give you a hint. There is creepiness surrounding one particular character. Plot and Pacing? Bad (--) Do you both like magical girl-type and Idol Animes? This might be a show for you but prepare for 52 episode mountain. The story itself is good and somewhat enjoyable. Although this is…

One of the first anime I encountered that actually left a great impression on me. I essentially watched this series in Korean back when it was popular, then got back to it later down the road. Generally thought the anime was good--original songs (unfortunately not sung by the CV herself) that's worth listening to even now and it also helps that there are Openings and such sung in Korean so definitely check that out I'd say. I suppose the issue I have with this series was that it relied too much on fantasy to create drama to the point the conflict that characters would go through seemed artificia and unrelatable. I suppose even if I turned a blind eye to this, the series also ended on some very convenient notes with a literal deus ex machina, so that's up for critique in my opinion.

--------------Story------------ I watched this anime while looking for the romance drama genre, and after finishing this anime, I can consider it as one of my favorite anime in the romance and drama category, comparable to fruit basket and clannad The story itself is light, and not too much drama conflict. It is told that a 12 year old boy has a promise with his childhood friend who was separated from the orphanage to fight for his dream. And when his dream has come true, their love can move on to the next stage. MC named Mitsuki had a dream to become a singer and at that time he had cancer in his throat which required surgery at the risk of losing his voice. This can hinder her dream of becoming a singer if her voice is lost Immediately, a shinigami (angel of death) appears to take the…

This is conflicting. For starters, this anime is beautiful. The artwork, the music, the character development, the romance, the story - all of it is above and beyond. In fact, in most areas it even surpasses the manga. Although some episodes are clearly filler or fluff, overall the anime is really great and easy to keep interested in. The main protagonist, Mitsuki, has a tumor in her throat, which makes her love for singing and music basically impossible to chase. Throw in the childhood love she lost as a kid and her promise to him that the next time they meet, they'd both be accomplished in their dreams...and well. You've got a beautiful, sad tale. Then come the shinigami - Takuto and Meroko. They inform Mitsuki she only has a year left to live. This somehow results in Takuto using…

Spoilers in the second part. I love, love, love this anime so much. The main character Mitsuki is this adorable character who thinks and cares about the feelings of everyone else. Even though she is weakened by illness and /has/ to care for herself more. She's not selfish, and isn't an annoyingly, over-the-top "cutesy, clumsy" kind of girl. Not at all. And she's not some self-pitying, cowardly, 'I have no friends so I'm going to cry all day' character either. Music is her motivation, and she uses that to be a better, self-dependent, self-motivated, cheerful version of herself. Because of this factor, I was able to really sympathize and follow along with her story in this anime. Which is good, since the plot itself is plenty interesting and fun to make small side-theories with. A young gir…

A magical experience. Most likeable characters I've ever seen, amazing messages, studio Deen makes each performance look interesting and engaging, they add tons of personality to the scenes of lighthearted comedy, and also deliver with some stunning dramatic animation in its most intense moments. It's just all around an amazing anime to watch with great characters that have a ton of chemistry. It's themes are beautiful and at times heartbreaking and very interesting. It takes so many tropes that you've seen in other shows and completely flips them on their head and gives an experience like no other. This show has a million 10/10 moments, I could make a video series on everything it does right. It's my GOAT

I really really enjoyed Full Moon as it just had that innocent feel of old anime such as Cardcaptor Sakura while at the same time reminded me of Skip beat which I also really liked. The best way to describe this series is simply "cute". Throughout the entire series I was smiling from ear to ear unable to get enough of the cute relationships between Mitsuki, Takuto and Meroko. Initially I was put off by Mitsuki's voice but that was because my expectations were far different from reality and Im really glad I decided to give this series a try anyway in which I begun to really like Mitsuki's voice. The music in the series is great most of the songs reminiscing of that 2000s old anime music which was really nice to get to listen to again. Mitsuki's singing voice is beautiful and good enough…

Full Moon wo Sagashite was such an amazing trip to re-experience. I read the manga years ago as a kid and really enjoyed it, but I didn't know there was an anime until recently. I was so drawn in that watched the entire thing in a few days! Mixing such beautiful and fun moments with bitter ones is really what got me the most. This is really an anime for all audiences. The characters are lovable with great chemistry. The story is bittersweet and inspiring. The music is just phenomenal! (The openings aren't what I would prefer, but everything else is just astounding!) I really don't regret watching this and I highly recommend this anime for everyone. The anime does differ from the manga quite a bit. There are similar courses of actions and the same premise, but each take it in different wa…

Story: 10/10 A girl and boy promises each other to fulfil their dreams. Her dream is to become a singer, however, unfortunately, she suffers from throat cancer. But, with the help of two shinigamis, she is able to sing once again. Art: 10/10 The art is cute, but has its flaws. This type of art was often common during the 2000s. The character designs were appealing and unique. Sound: 10/10 The anime's soundtrack is amazing, you get so absorbed into the music and it helps set the mood even more when someone happy or sad happens. Characters: 10/10 The characters develop over time and they are characters you will love, or hate, or sometimes you'll change your opinion. They are all unique and you can connect with them, especially with 52 episodes. Enjoyment/Overall: 10/10 It's spectacula…

Full Moon Wo Sagashite is about a young girl who is trying to achieve her dream before fate takes her life. Along with her story, she meets new friends, overcomes many problems and discovers herself along the way. This anime was truly heart-warming and touching. I was moved on several occasions by the story line and the characters. I loved how this anime could make you laugh and cry at the same time. This anime is based around music and singing, so the sound and voices in this anime were amazing. The songs have a tendency to stick in your mind and lighten your mood almost instantly. Again the characters can really make you laugh and have such deep back stories that really make the anime what it was. Watch this anime and fall in love with the story, music and relationships between each of t…

The story begins with an interesting concept I've never seen used before. That immediately pulled me in and kept my attention for the duration of the series. Throughout the story, many complex and diverse issues pop up that challenge the characters. Watching their approach to the problems and their interactions with each other strained and strengthened was a treasure to observe. The artwork is not flashy or especially memorable during any moments, but this shortcoming is easily overlooked thanks to the story and character depth in the series. The background tracks didn't have a staple sound that resonated with me or even caught my attention but the vocal recordings for Mitsuki's concerts and performances impressed me. A real singer was hired and brought in to make music for an animated c…

i'm going make this review short and sweet this anime is about a young girl name Miriko searching for her destiny to somehow become a singer after finding out she has cancer in the throat, with out of the blue two death gods show up and that she somehow can see she finds it by magically becoming a full moon out of a promise she made.. this anime is heartwarming and puts a lot of emotional feelings to a test from death to wanting to have Miriko to live on with both her altered-ego called Full Moon to herself, and searching for her great friend which moved to America with his adopted family to times she was in the orphanage after her dad dies spending time with eichi-kun. the battle of full moon and Modoka jealous feelings and full moon making friends along the way, which is pretty much…

FMwS follows a young girl with throat cancer and her struggle to find a boy she knew while at her orphanage. She meets two Shinigami who eventually help her by changing her into a perfectly healthy sixteen-year-old and allowing her to sing as Full Moon. I watched this show after a large number of female acquaintances recommended it. Being a guy, I didn't expect much from this childish sounding anime (especially after Fruits Basket) but it definitely surprised me, and then some. This anime is a lot deeper than it initially appears and the message it gives is a very positive and uplifting one. If you're willing to go through 52 episodes and like a bit of drama, this might be a good one. Animation: The animation is flawed at times and many aspects seem childish but I guess that is because t…

This was the second anime I watched after Sailor Moon back in grade 10 and loved it. Near the end, I got addicted and would watch six episodes a night. It is an amazing anime. *For people who watch dubs, this show only went up to episode 20 I think in English. If you want to see the rest, you'll need to watch the Japanese one.* Mitsuki has cancer and wants to be a singer but because of her tumor, she can't sing in a loud voice. Two shinigami (Gods of Death) come to take her life but they promise to achieve her dream before her time is up. Story- I love the story. I have no music skills what so ever and found this anime an awesome idea. She is very dedicated to singing; there aren't many animes like this out there. Sound- The show has beautiful music and funny music. The open is very en…

I discovered this anime via the song "Eternal Snow" (I wouldn't recommend listening to it before watching thoug). It directly catched my attention. And I wasn't dissapointed. Full Moon wo Sagashite is a must watch if you like the shoujo style. A more well know anime in the same style is Card Captor Sakura (CCS). If you liked CCS then you should watch Full Moon wo sagashite. As you could imagine from the synopsis, the story has a serious and sad note although the characters can be funny. I liked the song of the anime a lot. Characters were awesome and likeable. Once I started watching it, I couldn't stop watching. Also the anime version is very different plot wise than the manga. But I think the anime plot is better and makes more sense than the plot from the manga.

Full Moon wo Sagashite: Searching for a full moon I guess most people who are anime fans just constantly look for those anime that really leave a deep impact on you, lift you up, and help you gain a further appreciation for anime. Sometimes we wonder if that special one will ever come, that one that is so special to us on a personal level that we will forever remember it as long as we continue to watch anime or even think about it. This time for me, I think I found one of those in full moon wo sagashite. On the surface full moon wo sagashite is a very (very) cute story of a young twelve year old girl(Kouyama Mitsuki) who develops a cancerous tumor in her throat despite the fact that she desires to sing(with all of her heart) in order to keep a promise with a childhood friend and lover. S…

It was only in March 2013 that I started watching this Anime after finishing a few other Animes on Youtube. I was on Youtube and I clicked on it. At first, I didn't really like Full Moon, but I gave it another chance and I'm glad I did. Story: 10/10 This is just my opinion, but I believe this story is amazing. No story is completely flawless but this was close to it. Twelve year old Mitsuki has lung cancer and two shinigami show up granting her one life to live. If I was Mitsuki I would be crying and upset, but she wasn't upset she wanted to live to achieve her dream of being a singer making Eichi, her childhood love, notice her. Mitsuki isn't a little whiny little kid that wants what she wants either she is very kind and helps out everyone. As the story proceeds, you'll notice a cute s…
