Introduction

Waking up in a strange bedroom in a dream world, teenager Haruto Tsukishiro finds a strange app on his phone. When he activates the program, an odd woman appears and tries to drag him to her realm. Luckily, a mysterious, white-haired girl severs their connection and helps him escape, revealing that the woman is a witch; however, their conversation is cut short. As Haruto enters the realm again, he meets an anthropomorphic, talking cat named Katsumi Kanzaki. While the witch's minions pursue them, the white-haired girl opens a door for them to escape. After their ordeal, Haruto describes their savior—which only he can see—and Katsumi, the leading authority on dream world research, realizes that she must be "Lily," a being that resurfaces repeatedly across multiple dreamscapes. Hoping to leave the dream world through a blue door, they enter the witch's realm once again. Finding themselves in peril, Lily reveals the truth to Haruto: witches suffer from "Sleeping Beauty Syndrome," a coma-like sleep state induced by torment in their real world lives. Thus, they cannot wake until they are defeated in the dream world. After finally defeating the witch and locating the blue door, Haruto and Katsumi say their farewells, promising to meet up in the real world. However, when Haruto exits through the door, he awakens in the dream world bedroom once more. Seeking answers, Haruto and Katsumi try to uncover the mysteries of the witches, Lily, and Haruto's own inability to leave the dream world. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Watched the first 5 episodes hoping there would be at least a little interconnectivity between the episodes, something that would give more hints about the world, mystery and setup regarding sleeping beauty syndrome. Unfortunately each episode is extremely episodic, until episode 11, which is where I skipped to after episode 5 after reading the summary of each episode. While seeing the main Gary Stu character help each of the episode's girl with their trauma was nice, it was not enough to keep me engaged and got old after episode 5. It was only here, at episode 11, that they started explaining what was going on, finally dropping world lore and advancing the plot. While I might have missed some of the unique animation from the different directors with the episodes I skipped, I didn’t feel…

Dreamy Teen Safe Girls In Dreams Visual it's a mixed bag, It reminds me of early 2000 show with the coloring, It's just way too bright and digital. And the characters design look a little bootleg at some point. directions all over the place, I could really feel that there was a different director on every episode, like every story it feels so all over the place. Some episodes love stories, some extremely bloody body horror, it just doesn't have a consistent voice. Some episodes are okay some boring, That's what you get out of this format but most of them are okay but, only bearable okay. It feels like in the between episode stuff happens, that would be nice to know, like oh I already know this person in episode three and it's just like what what is happening what's going on? I have s…

TEDDYLOID is the thing that pleased me most about this anime. I prefer dark, strange souls, where sadness joins joy, like yin and yang. if an anime does not respect these things it does not even deserve my 8. we must say however that if an anime is made on a road, like for example Prison school which is based on ecchi, I do not use this criterion. however in this case 18if does not follow a single path, so ... STORY: 3 -ok, the episodes are all disconnected from each other, the last three explain everything. -the first 10 speak of strong concepts: such as bullying, revenge, suicide ... but in an undeveloped key; as if each episode were a 10-page book, and they only tell the first side, they talk about heavy topics without getting into the heart of the problem. -ok, we are in a dream world…

This anime felt as if I was watching an alternative version of Alice in wonderland mixed with the movie paprika. At first I thought I was following the amines storyline, then things kind of got...weird, then I thought I knew what was going on. Finally I got to the end and felt the same way I did after watching that movie inception. The art work is amazing and bright, and I think I liked one of the characters, and I don't doubt anyone who watches it will enjoy it. Overall it was kind of cool and I'm sure this anime is perfect for people who like Alice in Wonderland, or anyone who prefers anime that is newer as opposed to the older art styles.

_THIS REVIEW DOESN`T CONTAIN ANY SPOILERS_ Oh boy, where do I start with this anime... It`s quite...strange, but kinda in a bad way sadly. STORY: Alright, I get what they wanted to do with the story, it had quite a potential given it`s dreamy settings where anything could happen, but they didn`t really use that. They focused more on the weird and confusing "artistic" factors without realising that the story is getting hard to understand and keep up with. I had a very hard time focusing on the story and it was really painful to me to watch it without dropping it. Quite boring as well. Also wtf was that Eve part? That was so stupid. ART: Well, art was kinda solid, but there was one episode where art style completely changed to worse and that`s literally when I lost all the will to watch t…

18if might be the most underrated anime I’ve seen so far in my life. I didn’t think that when I first started, I doubt anyone did. The first two episodes are trashy and edgy but I enjoyed them as dumb fun. Then the show kept going. And eventually I realized that 18if wasn’t trying to be edgy, at least not anymore. I started to understand what it was trying to do, and that's look into the mental state of these "witches" through their dreams. 18if follows an episodic narrative structure for the first 10 of its 13 episodes. There’s no real connected plot between these 10 episodes (the last 3 are connected and I like them too, I’m just ignoring them for the review to avoid spoilers). Like real dreams, there are no rules. Anything can and will happen. The best way to categorize 18if is as an…

18if is a strange and indecisive anime. It came with an tie-in mobile game "18: Kimi to Tsunagaru Puzzle" and had 11 different directors for the 13 episodes. This constant change of directors led to a bunch of different art styles and stories. Thus it is hard to come up with a single genre type for this anime. But most of them would categorize under Psychological as psychotic issues and their after effects are a constant underline here. The story, in broad terms, follows Haruto as he confronts girls is psychological needs in their dreams. He is assisted by Professor Kanzaki with his own agenda and mostly acts as a bridge between reality and the dream world. It is hard to generalize what makes the anime, as a whole, good or bad, as, as mentioned earlier, almost each episode had a differen…

For me it's a 7 I like the "alice in wonderland" vibe, and the Animations are smooth, but different with each episodes. Not sure if it's always the same guy drawing them, but im fine with that. It plays in a dreamworld, and everyone dreams different, so this is just another plus ;) You can also tell, that the Producer put some effort in it, since ever Episode has it's own ending theme. I dont like the Main Ost though. 0=) People probably dislike the anime, because it's not All self-explaining right from the start or due to false expectations. It's "Death Parade" with "alice"-vibes after All ^^

so the first episode was confusing but after a couple episodes you understand more and my enjoyment rose to a seven the so the story the story can be confusing at times so if you want to sit down and shut off your brain this is just not for you ok and the art i think the art is good but the art is kind of different so you might not like it and don't force your way thru the animation you just wont enjoy yourself sound its fine character fine and my enjoyment of 18if ok so i like to think wile i watch anime so i liked this anime alot so my final thouts on 18if i liked it alot i think this show i pretty good but if you dont want to think dont watch Edit: (I wrote this when I was 13, now 19. its like a crappier version of Black Butler. its like so-so it wasn't really good but it wasn't bad... I'd never recommend it unless you want a shitty black butler without Sebastian but instead a dream traveler and a cat-human hybrid. it gets confusing a lot and doesn't really make sense. I thought the plot was weak (and JoJo's is my favorite anime) I kinda think its repetitive as well. I have no idea what witches are still even tho it makes sense kinda... tho overall it wasn't bad nor good, I'd never recommend it tho watching it wasn't a complete waste of time. If you really wanna watch it, watch it... it good enough...

This anime got that mystery vibes in the beginning, so you will expect some great story but oh boy you will regret expecting that. 18if seems unique, because of the protagonist goal is like escaping the dream world but soon it will reveal some plot twists and things you never expected. 18if got different stories for each 2-3 episodes and different genres for each of them. Some of these stories are good and heartwarming, but a lot of them are mediocre. The more you watch this, the more messed up the story is. It is like a story with no point, repeating things and adding things that not important or relevant to the story. It begin from mystery-fantasy anime to harem anime full of cliche. That what makes me disappointed with this anime because it has a potential and it wasted it. The ar…

[*Contains little to no spoilers*] I don't usually write reviews, but this time I kinda ended up having commentaries for every episode, so I thought might as well post them here. First off, the opening and the always-different endings were really fitting and good. I'm not usually a person that gives bonus points for a good soundtrack, but this time the soundtrack was either so good, or the rest was so bad that I think the OST is the best part about the whole anime. Heck, I discovered this anime from listening (and loving) to the ending of the seventh episode called "Too late" by Nene, Inori Minase. Rating this was a pain, since there were different directors and this anime was really "artsy" to me. So my rating is going to be the average of all my ratings for each eipsode combined: 1st…

18IF ANIME REVIEW - 11-27-2018 OVERALL: 7.6 PLOT: 9 Have you ever try to write something you think is very interesting? Like you know that it really have that sense and concept which can hook the audience? At first, this series is kinda strange, and confusing. The first episode will make you question its entirety. Is it good? Is it worth the time to watch? But along the story, you'll find the things that the author wanted to tell. You'll find that its plot is kind of a whole other level. This anime shows different kind of stories that tackles about living, how different people are, their status, their goals, their desire, manifest in their mind and bring it into another world which we all really know of. I really feel that there's a deeper meaning the creator of this story wanted to tel…

18if is an anime adaptation based on those Candy Crush match three mobile puzzle games but that little tidbit isn't much to talk about as 18if has the unique trait of being those animes where a new director helms nearly every episode, akin to Mayoi Neko Overrun but in a fantasy setting instead of a romantic comedy. 18if has Haruto Tsukishiro voiced by Nobunaga Shimazaki who wakes up in a dream world and is stuck in this plain of existence and each episode he helps a witches wake up from "Sleeping Beauty Syndrome" . Plain and simple. Each episode focuses on the witch in question and as to how they got into the situation they got themselves in, mainly through bullying, personal trauma or a traumatic incident that lead them down becoming witches, now each witch and therefore each episode ha…

So I started watching 18if because I heard it was artsy and had a different director for each episode. And while there are 11 episode directors for this 13-episode show—and there are even some episodes that could be considered . . . good?—this show is ultimately very, very bad. Note: review contains very minor spoilers. TL;DR: Anime sourced from sh*tty mobile game is also sh*tty, but episodes 3, 7, and 10 are worth watching alone if the show’s premise tickles your fancy. 18if could have been good. There’s some real heart tucked deep down inside, and it tries to address big, relatable issues that real people face: bullying, disability, death, eating disorders—you get the idea. The problems with 18if arise when you consider how poor quality much of it is. It feels like every aspect of the…

At the beginning of this anime, I had to come check on MAL for the release date of this show because I found the animation below average, and honestly, plainly bad and something you'd probably see as average from 2007 not 2017. But then, gee, this anime did a good job punching me in the face for thinking so, from there on each episode which each different vibe and genre freshens up the show which was of course, vastly confusing but in a good way, at least for me. The show kept me interested that bordered my irritation but with still a certain amount of gap overall. Story wise, you sort of get what you expected and then on the next the plot twists in such an absurd way that your brain hurts, if you like logical anime shows then I don't think this is up your alley. A tremendous thank you goe…

This anime was a weird one. Most people dropped this series early on, not me. Lel. I saw potential. Every episode was done by a different director, so each episode presented a different approach in telling the story. Every week was a different experience. It was fun and unique. I really like how the series ended. It was unexpected but good. Though I still have some questions left, I’m not that disappointed that they were not answered. Dunno why. Hhhhmmmm… I think its part of the charm of the series, I guess. You just let it be. It’s an anime after all, anything can happen. XD This anime is definitely not for everyone. But I do recommend this to people who likes to watch unique animes and people who likes to watch something different for a change.

This is series of fantastic short stories that focus on characters known as witches that each represent a problem posed in life. And does so very well with each story lasting about 20 minutes. Story: This series is a collection of short stories and is incredibly emotional, often leading to tearing up at many points in the show for various reasons. If a story can make me tear up then I'd consider that a damn well crafted story. Meaning this is well crafted story time after time again. Art: As art is subjective and hard to explain for me. there isn't terribly much to say here other than I just loved the style and changed between episodes. Sound: They make a new song for every opening to fit the character and the episode. That is some damn good dedication to the sound department. Overall…

Disappointing? The only reason I stuck to the end was because I liked the main character and wanted to find out what happened to him, but the ending left a sour feeling in the pit of my stomach, meaning I find it hard to recommend the series on that aspect alone, particularly when I as a viewer found myself asking why. Nothing regarding the plot makes sense, but the series feels so much like someone took concept from Angel Beats, Little Busters or some other similar Anime series and spat it back out without thinking about what draws viewers to these series. It's just not there, and one might say that's a twist - but when you throw away the draw of the genre, is that really a twist? I don't think so. The artwork in one regard I'll admit works - the changing of art styles, yet the person i…

This anime depicts the various faces of life : love, hate, revenge, bullying and more. Each episode could be considered a story of it's own, of the 11 first episodes, there is no need to follow them in order. The story has a decent story line but it is not the focus. The highlight of this show is the difference between each of the episodes. It is a breeze for me, different from those action anime. I have really enjoyed the intro to the anime, very interesting style it has. It has drawn me to watch curiously wondering what it would be. I also liked the fact that each ending changed, I was really surprised of this and it hooked me to finish the whole 24mins. The characters are different from each others, their person are well drawn. But some may not like that the characters are dumped and onl…
