365 Days to the Wedding

365 Days to the Wedding

Introduction

As introverted colleagues at a travel agency in Tokyo, Takuya Oohara and Rika Honjouji both cherish their happily single lives. After work, home is where they feel most at ease: Takuya unwinds with his cat, while Rika studies various maps. However, an uncertain future looms over their treasured tranquility when their company plans to open a branch office in Alaska within one year and transfer an unmarried employee there. During a day off, Takuya and Rika accidentally meet and, despite never having spoken before, open up to each other about their relocation fears. Feeling encouraged by Takuya facing the same predicament, Rika suddenly proposes a daring solution—to pretend to be engaged for 365 days. Takuya accepts, but little do the two know that the path to marriage may, in many ways, change forever the very lifestyles they struggle to preserve. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

I'm a little late with this review. The anime was heading in the right direction until the trip to MC-kun's parents' house. From that point onward, it slammed on the brakes and started throwing in all sorts of unnecessary drama. A woman in her twenties can't possibly be like this. I refuse to believe there are people that age with that kind of mentality. You don't know what love is? You have someone asking you out, and you leave him on read because you don't know what love is? The answer is to experience it! But this girl has an entire soap opera playing out in her head. MC-kun, on the other hand, has the patience of a saint. It feels completely unrealistic. There are two episodes that are entirely unnecessary: the princess episode and the one dedicated to Gonda. Why waste so much sc…

I expected more from seinen romance but in the end I got a classic in the form of childish characters. It's strange that they can't even maintain a fake relationship (which turned out to be unnecessary in the end). For being adults they have childish behavior (especially Honjouji), thanks to which I can't give it more otherwise if they acted their age I would give it an extra point because it had potential. I'm most disappointed that he would want something but she doesn't even know what she wants and that just ruins it when she changes moods like she has stuff and then suddenly thinks she loves him after 10 ep. as a fact? But that was temporary because in the next ep. she wants to back out again. And what all she made up there just to sleep over at his house, I was scratching my head, she…

You might have to be autistic to feel this way but I found this show intensely relatable. Struggling to speak up when you want to, figuring things out a bit later in life, overthinking every little thing, the frustration of yearning for a more normal life despite knowing the things that make you happy aren't exactly normal, and dealing with the fear of connection when it would mean exposing your true self. The show took the time to process all these worries, and also shared a much-needed uplifting message that relationships are still good and worthwhile despite everything that makes them hard. Multiple moments felt so outrageously true to life that I found myself laughing uncontrollably. The voice actors really understood the assignment as well, delivering grounded performances of what it…

I liked the premise of the story and VAs, but the unusual pacing and character's cliche internal dialogue was way too much, man. I mean, it was so irritating at some point that it feels the writer is just stretching the story, which can be concluded in just 10-15 secs. I read the manga, but I am not satisfied with that as well. I get it that both the characters are socially awkward and introverts but none of them get time to overcome their difficulties, although, Rika's character has something going on, but Oharu's character is something i can't relate to at all; his character is very half-baked. Some people might like it because it shows an adult work-life romance.

Well what can I say, it's introvert meets autism and about as straightforward as a plot as it gets. Girl doesn't know how to express herself to others and guy just isn't all that confident. They do get wholesome which gives some bonus points and I do like how they highlight some of their coworkers' lives. It touches a lot on family and people around them so it builds the show's community nicely. Nothing too great and nothing outstandingly bad so it goes in my 7 range. Animation - 7 Characters - 7 Relationships - 8 Plot - 7 Use/Absence of fanservice - 7 Total - 7

So, I've just watched 365 Days to the Wedding between 3rd and 4th October 2025, and honestly? It was just that lovely little surprise. This anime sits in that rom-com meets slice-of-life style — not too much drama, not too much seriousness, just plain, gentle storytelling that makes you smile. The animation’s done by Ashi Productions, and I’ve gotta say, they did a solid job here. The visuals felt clean, expressive, and easy on the eyes — exactly what you’d want in a wholesome romance anime. It’s based on a manga by Tamiki Wakaki and the anime script is written by Kazuho Hyodo. And yeah, they’ve both managed to capture that sweet, grounded vibe pretty well. Now, the story itself — this is the type of romance I really love. It's mature, light, and sorta relatable if you've ever been stuck…

Story and Characters- 8/10 Both mc and fmc are worried how they might be treating others or each other bcos both are weak in expressing and are completely insecure of what they can give to others like love or like if they can be loved, perfectly human nature in introverted relations and so i loved this anime with uniqueness it carries and build up of romance. Art style is great like i don't go on finding flaws on lil things. U loving this anime is based upon u only like how u see through both characters and even mc guy friend who developed feelings for widow woman and what happened then... I loved the anime

365 Days to the Wedding is the latest entry into the subgenre of romcoms that I’m sure has a name already but I’m going to affectionately call “oops we’re getting married now” romcoms, which is great because I love that shit. What makes this one in particular stand out for me is that this show might have the most socially inept romantic leads I’ve ever seen, leading the story straight towards a deep dive into communication and how to properly convey your feelings to someone who doesn’t have access to your internal thoughts. I found myself relating to these two far more often than I expected, whether it’s Ohara’s inability to accurately express his frustrations with what others expect from him or Honjoji’s instinct to bottle up her feelings so as not to let others down. Unfortunately, the f…

Having consumed a lot of teenage romance media during my teens, 'Kekkon suru tte, Hontou desu ka' was a wonderful look at a rarer topic, romance in a workplace setting. More specifically how two introverts in the workplace grow a relationship from a sham to something more and the journey in between. As adults we know relationships can be tricky, people have flaws and baggage. Whilst it didn't examine both characters history as much as I would have liked, it gave a general overview of why X behaves like Y. However the comedy of increasingly romantic/troublesome situations was very enjoyable as we watch both characters struggle and make right of the situation. The supporting cast, family and coworkers are also very enjoyable, two or three of which had a more overarching story which gave R…

People are disappointed because it didn't match the tension of main stream romance, but id say it's comforting to watch the characters develop in their interests and expand their horizon in doing various things I don't think it's as bad as people claim to be here,But the premise is unrealistic, especially the tension drag in the last few episodes, and it was fine after the unrealistic setup, because damn how can you even try to fake a marriage for such a silly reason, But the writing order could have been better, as in we get informed about the events quicker in episodes 3-8. I think that pacing would be of help. But considering all that, I think it's still nice to watch, it's chill and doesn't have anything overdramatic, The workplace setting was nicely developed, and the characters were…

This anime had a bit of a weak start, and at first, it didn’t seem like anything special. However, as the story progressed, it started to feel more real and engaging. The romance developed in a believable way, without rushing or exaggeration, which made it easier to connect with the characters’ emotions. I also loved how the protagonist faced her personal struggles, adding depth that is rarely seen in stories like this. Her conflicts and personal growth made the plot much more compelling and meaningful. Overall, this anime stands out from the typical generic romance. It doesn’t just focus on surface-level love but also develops its characters in a more authentic and realistic way. Definitely a story worth watching.

Now, "365 Days to the Wedding / Are You Really Getting Married?" is a heartwarming romantic comedrama anime. I saw some people saying it misses the opportunity to become a great romcom but I don’t believe the main idea was to make a romcom per se. It tells the story of two timid, introverted people who cannot achieve to be part of the society start with the lie that they will get married to avoid an unfortunate appointment to Alaska, and it tells us the story of how these two introverts become engaged in the world, with other people, with each other, how they develop as characters so they can become functioning, productive adults in the modern society. All the secondary characters have an arc to fulfil, and we see the development of characters, main and supporting, all through the anime se…

"Kekkon suru tte, Hontou desu ka" proves to be a well-paced and engaging series. Despite some deviations from the manga, the storyline maintains a smooth flow that sustains interest without inducing boredom or undue tension. The narrative is skillfully crafted, blending romance with everyday scenarios in a manner that feels authentic and relatable. One of the anime’s strengths lies in its character development, notably with its introspective main protagonists. Throughout the series, these characters gradually emerge from their shells, particularly in pivotal moments that underscore their growth. This evolution adds a layer of realism and depth to the storyline. Moreover, the anime adeptly navigates the complexities of marriage, presenting a mature and grounded perspective. While the seri…

365 Days to Wedding hit me straight in the feels. As someone in my late 20s, seeing young adults like Rika and Takuya portrayed so realistically made this anime incredibly relatable. It’s not often we get an anime centered around working professionals, and the concept of them faking a relationship to avoid a transfer to Alaska felt unique and modern, especially for people navigating life, work, and relationships in their 20s. Rika and Takuya’s awkward yet heartfelt journey felt so real. The way they fumble through "pretending" to be a couple while clearly starting to develop feelings was both hilarious and heartwarming. Watching them do couple-like things and their desperate attempts to hide their secret from their colleagues had me laughing out loud at times and holding my breath at othe…

This anime is confused. I have seen, in some form, all adaptations of this work (Anime, Manga, TV Drama) and each one varies in its own ways. For one, the location of the new branch is different, and the general story is moved around a bit. I bring this up because I think this manga/anime wasn't very thoroughly planned out and a lot of the ideas they wanted weren't actively pursued. I think the whole sketchy phone call plot point was quickly identified as out of place and not that interesting, so the end result is just unimpactful and unnecessary. But still, I have this at a seven because the dynamic of the two leads is great! They are really fun to watch, and they are both expertly voice-acted. The episodes that revolve around their chemistry are the show's greatest strengths. This sho…

I'm so happy to see faithful representation of neurodiversity in adult workplace romance anime. The two lead characters are heavily coded to be high-masking autistic, with difficulties in understanding human social interaction and emotions and individual special interests. Honjoji Rika especially is extremely relatable for a lot of late diagnosed autistic people. She spends all of her free time immersed in her special interest and is usually quiet, but can gush about what she loves. She shows affection through pebbling and makes detailed written plans for everything. Both the lead characters experience moments when they are partially(?) nonverbal. Both characters struggle with facial expressions and eye-contact. The story is gentle and fluffy. The communication struggles are honestly so r…

Come on, as in every season we have an office romance, in a few weeks we will have another one coming out, and the plot options are increasingly scarce, but this anime brought a proposal that I hadn't seen yet and some reflections that we can absorb through example: How far can we take a lie for our own convenience? / and how much can this harm those around us? Is it worth getting married? and how bad it is to be married Is it worth getting married? and how good it is. Well, it could just be a delusion in my head, but I'm watching based on these aspects, but regarding the show, I have some additions, the pace of the plot is not well defined, some episodes are fast, but others are very slow to the point of being boring. some characters could be better developed while others simply don't…

If this anime were a person, it would definitely be a tightrope walker. The direction and story are excellent. It manages to balance romance, adult issues, drama and comedy in a way that I found fantastic. It's both funny and thought-provoking. The subplots don't distract from the main story, but rather add to the story and make the viewer think and even remember situations that may have happened. The protagonists have their own charisma, both together and apart, and the connection between them works very well. I felt sorry for Gonda because, although he was in doubt at first, he ended up making up his mind in the end, but he didn't have the chance anymore. There are things in life that aren't meant to happen, even if we really want them to or believe they're perfect, but in reality, it's…

This show rivals the greats by doing the same as Rent a girlfriend horimiya my tiny Senpai etc it has the romance and actually does it well. Sure it’s a lie, but you can see the characters bonding and eventually it grows into the truth. I really enjoyed this when I was watching it, it reminded me of the anime I mentioned above and how good this show actually isI just couldn’t put it down the next thing I know it’s finished it. I like how more people and Studios are stepping into an adult workplace romance, which is nice as they aren’t many of them and to see it work just as well as the high school ones. Makes me hopeful for more. My only problem with this show is that it wrapped up really nicely so the chances of a follow-up I don’t know I’d love it I don’t know maybe a movie but I don’…

A story about two socially awkward co-workers who develop feelings for each other. Overall a decent "feel good" romantic series. Also there is not an abundance of adult cast or workplace rom-com or romantic animes. Big fan of Hayami's work. Only gripe is perhaps inconsistent pacing. Starts of a little slow and picks up in the middle. Slows down again about 3/4 of the way through and then picks up again at the end. Felt a little rushed at the end to me but not so much that it ruins the series. Maybe could have used another episode to flesh out the end a little.
